This place could be better. Anyway, we had a bad experience at the one on W. Broadway so we decided to try elsewhere that is closer to home. My daughter is 2.5 years old now and she has one lazy eye since a few months old. It has since gotten better but I wanted a re-check to see if we're on the right track. This review is for our initial appointment. The doctor (I forgot her name) was 10 minutes late which was acceptable. When it was our turn, we sat down and started doing a bunch of "fun" tests. One of the test was identifying a bunch of animals in stencils. Keep in mind, my daughter was 2 and has never seen things in stencils before. It was quite abstract for a kid like her because she's used to seeing animals in storybooks and real life. She didn't do too well on that one which I was completely fine with it. Honestly those stencils are so old style even I had trouble identifying them. Another test was matching. My daughter knows when something is "the same", but when you put her in an unfamiliar environment and kind of pressuring her to match things up, she didn't do too well. But what bothered me was that the doctor made a comment like, "oh, she should know how to match by now." What? Are you kidding me? Who do you think you are to say that? She's saying as if my daughter is incompetent. Hey, every kid is different and I'm proud of what my daughter is capable of. For her to say that, I was offended. I tried to laugh it off and continue on with other tests. Then during the test, she would jokingly say things like, "oh, you're making things difficult." I'm not sure why this whole thing was happening. We are friendly easy going people. My daughter was well behaved. She sat still and try to do everything we asked. She didn't cry or delay our appointment at any way. Our appointment went by so fast too and there was no one in the waiting room. I don't know why we have such bad luck with ophthalmologists. I think they're good at their work but not good with working with children. The only good thing I have to say is that the location is good and the receptionist's phone manners are professional.
