Did my Lasik here. UNPROFESSIONAL. They were very attentive on your consultation session, but once they got your business, the follow-ups are just brush-you-through type of service. On the follow-up appointments, this place is bazaar, like many others mentioned, this clinic has no respect of patient's time. Even if you arrived 15min early, you will still end up with more than 30min wait from your appointment time, which turns out to be 45min wait for a 5min eye check. I do not appreciate the lack of mutual respect and consideration.

I had Lasik surgery to correct my near sightedness 5 days ago. I hummed and haaaed over the decision for years. Now I wish I had done it sooner. The operation was about 10 minutes long. I went home and went straight to sleep as directed. When I woke up 5 hours later I had 20/20 vision. I also appreciate that I can do my follow up appointments in Abbotsford, nearer to where I live. Thank you so much Dr. King and Dr. Chu!

I am super pleased with my laser correction results. I can’t remember the last time I was able to see 20/20 without glasses or contacts! I can see street signs without having to be first in line at a stop light and I can see the definition on faces, but best of all, I now wake up in the morning being able to see clearly right away without having to reach for my glasses! Thanks to Dr. King, I have 20/20 vision and the opportunity to experience life with the clearest vision ever. I was very nervous on the day of my procedure, but Dr. King and his staff walked me through every step and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire procedure. I recently had PRK (corrective laser eye surgery) at Fraser Valley Cataract & Laser. Dr.King and his team were professional and did not take any shortcuts. I couldn't believe how quick and painless it was! Being a healthcare professional myself, I admit that I was very nervous and had a ton of questions. The team did an excellent job at explaining everything to me and putting me at ease. I heavily depend on good vision for the fine, detailed work. Now I have BETTER than 20/20 vision! I absolutely do not regret my decision in undergoing laser eye surgery. I did the research and there were many choices out there for laser eye surgery (even one that was less expensive), but I firmly believe that I made the best and safest choice! I refer all my friends to come here now and I am sure they will all be as happy as I am!

Can not believe the over booking/quadruple bookings that go on here!!! May be a doctor but not professional at all. Appointment scheduled for 12:15 and here we are at 2pm and JUST called in. We may just be patient's to you bit our time is just as valuable as yours. Would rather have quality care than quantity. You may only be able to bill $78 for my visit but that is certainly not worth almost a full day of MY time. I do not care how "good" of a doctor you think you may be, if you have no common courtesy of the people you are suppose to be caring for and have NO clue the difference between one chart and another as that is all we are to you are charts and billings then maybe you need to be knocked down a few pegs and have the College of Physicians and Surgeons have a look into your practice. Final total wait time for a 12 minute visit= 3.45 hours, driving time to and from visit= 1.5 hours ????

I had my laser vision correction done here by Dr. King and it went perfectly, coming into the year of 2020 with 20/20 vision is the best. I know it sounds cliché but it's the truth! Diamond was so amazing with her customer service skills, can never have a bad time with her!!

My husband was referred to have his eye chalazion taken care of. We arrived and he was taken in right away. After over 45 min I enquired at the front. They said this was an hour to an hour and a half consultation. I said he was not told that and that he was told he would need a ride home. She then said he would be having eye exams as part of their procedure. Needless to say, he did not need a ride home, he is driving. Also, had they read his chart ahead of time they would have known he has had Laser surgery already and 2 eye exams prior to this appointment. This appointment was a waste of time and I took off unnecessary time from work.

I was thrilled with Dr. Chu's team members who were able to fit me in for laser surgery today. I attended an appointment where my eye had developed severe scar tissue making my left eye difficult to see out of. I have some life events happening where I really need to be able to see. Dr. Chu's team were able to squeeze me in same day and I was able to drive home seeing clearly again. Huge thank you to all involved. And to Dr Chu for his excellent care.

I had my lasik procedure done with Dr. King about eight months ago, and so far I am very pleased with the results. I had all my questions and concerns addressed and I found the staffs friendly and courteous. Diamond, the customer relations person, is a good addition to the team; she was professional, friendly and customer oriented. I would recommend that more followup should be done within the first month after the surgery. Hence, the reason I am giving a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, I had a good experience.

OMG. Watch out from these guys, i was referred by my doctor to have my eyes checked at this office, the doctor said i have cataract and needed surgery right away the doctor said the surgery is free and the lenses are free and i said ok. Then i was sent to another room and the assistants came and up sale me to a expensive lens we talked a bit and the total came up to $3000 per eye. So i went home and rethought my plan. I went back to my doctor and ask for a second opinion, the second opinion said i have no cataract all i need is to change my glasses. So watch out they are very dishonest

So, my father went into this clinic on an urgent basis. They were very accommodating and was able to work him into their busy schedule . First off, everyone was extremely helpful. English is my father’s second language and he was very anxious. With his broken English, he was barely able to communicate what the issue was and if it was not for the staff at this clinic he could still be suffering now. He mentioned that one of the techs ( Theresa ) was able to calm him down by communicating with him in Cantonese and was able to guide him through the procedure. I also want to further extend my appreciation to the manager ( Gian? ) as he also spoke with my father in Cantonese to ensure that his own process went smoothly. Expect to spend your entire day here. How does anyone give this place a good review when clearly so disrespectful with patients time? Overall a 4.5 hour appointment for a ten minute surgery. A bit ridiculous. Would not tell me time of appointment until three days before. How is my ride supposed to figure out how much time to book off work, etc. or should we just book the entire day off waiting for you? Most businesses ask employees to give at least a weeks notice for booking time off so ppl need to know appointment times. Took theee and a half hours wait before five/ten minute surgery and then another hour wait for the pressure check after surgery. Wondering why this can’t just be scheduled at the Abbotsford location for out of town patients the next day? Nurse told me that surrey patients get this checkup scheduled for the next day but they are doing a benefit for Abbotsford patients by having them wait an extra hour so they do not have to come back again next day. But you have an Abbotsford location so why isn’t it be utilized?

If I could give this place a negative review I would. I had refractive lens exchange surgery to put in a multifocal lens. It was bad right from the beginning. Despite my comments that things were bad they kept telling me that it would get better. They ended up referring me to another surgeon to try and fix the problem, but by that time the lenses could not be replaced. Needless to say, after some time, and over $15k spent on my eyes I am now BACK in progressive glasses so that I can see again.

Wait times unnecessarily long and doctors and staff unprepared for you. Four hour wait for ten minutes of doctors and nurses time. What do staff even do here??? Just take calls for new patients and move you from one room to the next. How do you have four waiting rooms? At least make them comfortable if you want people to sit there all day and patiently wait until your noble staff may decide to give your patients two seconds.

Dr. Darren Payne is a very qualified opthamologist. He has been treating me for several months for sudden vision loss in one eye due to Temporal Arteritis. His diagnostic skills and treatment protocols were very effective so far. He has been diligent in his continued care and follow up treatment. We are very fortunate to have him as my opthamologist. The office staff has also been very helpful to us over these very stressful months.

I would like to give a sincere Thank You to Fraser Valley Cateract and Laser, with special recognition to Dr. Tim Ekhlassi and his surgical assistant. I was referred to Fraser Valley Cataract and Laser by my optometrist as my upper eye lids were dropping and sagging into my line of vision. Dr. Ekhlassi examined me and said I was a candidate for the surgery and explained the procedure to me in detail along with some of the risks involved. Due to COVID I asked to wait until I was fully vaccinated. I waited 6 weeks after my last shot and booked the surgery date. Throughout the period of time I had to wait I had a great deal of anxiety but once the date arrived Dr. Ekhlassi again explained the surgery and the procedure went very well to my surprise it took almost an hour but when I was finished I thought I was only there four 20 minutes. I was very relaxed and have had no issues to date. Thank you for a very positive experience and I would highly recommend Fraser Valley Cataract and Laser to family and friends. This was definitely a 5 star experience.

Well I went for the oculens yeah no more glasses NOT I got nauseau, vomiting, seeing quadruple and no periferial vision. After 2 1/2 months the lens was removed and I received a new lens. I now have periferial vision and have to wear glasses and my prescription had to be adjusted in my good eye so it would work with my right eye and I can no longer read the clock or subtitles on the tv. So what I have is an eye that the vision has deteriorated more than prior to what my cataract was. I requested some or all of my costs( as I now have to buy several pairs of glasses) for the $3800 for the the first lens and I have gotten nothing but a run around. I am now grieving the loss of sight in my right eye.

Overall, my experience was fantastic. I had my laser eye surgery one week from today. Dr. King performed the surgery and he was helpful and answered any questions I had. If there is one person I want to give 5 stars to, though, is Dina Pharand. She went above and beyond and was very kind, probably the main reason I went back for my followups. If there is anything negative I'd have to say is Dr. Chiam's behaviour. He speaks to you in a very condescending and downright sarcastic fashion and for this reason alone I changed all my future followups to the Abbotsford location.

Now I made appt. for an unrelated problem follow up and left after 1 1/4hrs. of waiting (there was no emergency just over booked). I hope they didn't bill my medical, I should be charging them. I would give this place a ZERO star if there is such an option. We had an appointment which we arrived 10 minutes before. We were brought into a room 5 minutes after appointment time ( a good thing I suppose). This is where the nightmare begins. We waited in the room for more than 75 MINUTES. Let me emphasis on this: I didn't exaggerate, it was more than 75 minutes. I went out and asked for a staff member: US: Hello. we have been waiting in the exam room for almost 1.5 hours. When can the doctor see us? THEM ( a few minutes later after consulting with front desk): I don't know. The doctor is in surgery and we don't know when it finishes. How much longer can you wait? US: we have already waited for more than 75 minutes, maybe we can wait for another 60 minutes? THEM: OK, wait then (our question: Why would you schedule the appointment if you knew the doctor would be in an surgery? If the surgery is emergency, can you try rescheduling? ) US: We parked in a 30 minute parking zone, we would have to move our car or we might be ticketed? THEM: That's OK, we will dispute your ticket if you got one. (Our question: Seriously can you tell me how you can dispute OUR ticket if we got one? Are you my representative? ) (20 minutes later)... an doctor came in (NOT the one we are supposed to see since the doctor is still in surgery): How can I help you today? US: We don't know, the doctor wanted us to come in and discuss exam result we did last time we were here? The doctor (after 5 minutes later looking through records): everything is fine. Nothing to worry about. This is the WORST clinic I have ever visited. Avoid it at all cost.

This is a very busy office that does it's best to be organized. Staff are very helpful and I received wonderful support during my cataract surgery. A patient does have to communicate with the office; they are very busy and like most offices involved with eyes are trying to move many patients through as quickly as possible. Horrible wait times. Expect surgery wait time to take 4-5 hrs but not because they are doing work. But because they don’t know how to schedule. Bring a movie. Or two. You’ll finish both before anyone even talks to you beyond the initial greeting. Like really just show up 3 hrs late from the time they tell you and you won’t miss anything. Won’t tell you your appointment times until 3 days before surgery. Looking at other replies to other reviews how is this Covid related? What provincial guideline is that? Guess my dentist…and my regular eye doctor…and my family doctor…and literally every other business is breaking it cause they can give an exact time 6 months in advance. Excuses…..for a badly run business.

I had a great experience here! Dr. King and Dina are both great and very informative. They made sure I was comfortable and okay the whole time. Getting lasik done was probably one of the best decisions I have made and FVCL made it an even better decision. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind and welcoming except for the receptionists who seem like they do not even want to talk to you, however, that was the only downside of my experience. I would recommend this place to anyone considering vision correction.

I could not be happier with Fraser Valley Cataract and Laser – I needed Cataract Surgery and had always had poor vision with astigmatism. I chose to have cataract surgery along with having toric monofocal lenses implanted to correct my vision. Dr. Chu and Dr. King were both very professional and skilled and although I was apprehensive – they were able to calm my fears. The rest of the staff were very helpful as well. There was no pain, just very slight discomfort at the time of surgery and no problems after surgery. The end result is 20/20 vision for the first time in many years. I can see distance, as well as read closeup and I even have great computer vision. I had given up driving at night as I simply couldn’t see well enough – but now I can see! I’m thrilled to be able to see details that I never saw before with corrective lenses and to be able to see the world clearly the minute I wake up. Thanks Dr. Chu and Dr. King!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Chu and his team. After 53 years wearing glasses, here I am with no glasses for the last 9 months. Amazingly, the surgery in both eyes was just PAINLESS, I could see the doctor’s fingers during the surgery, I could hear everything said, but I was not afraid at all because the nurses had answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. Recovery was very fast and with no complications at all. I really felt in good hands both in Chilliwack Hospital and in Dr. Chu’s office in Abbotsford and I appreciate the post-surgery follow up. The staff is always available and patient to answer questions and give guidance. I highly recommend Dr. Chu to anybody who needs eye surgery.

Dr. Chu has performed cataract surgery on my eyes. Both surgeries went extremely well. He is an incredible eye surgeon with magic hands and is very professional and patient. I was quite nervous and tense sitting in the waiting room before operation. My blood pressure went up high but Dr. Chu made me feel comfortable and cheered me throughout the entire surgery process. My mom, Mrs. Som Poon, had severe eye dryness on both eyes to such an extent that she had to close her eyes most of the time. She had consulted 2 other ophthalmologists who were hesitant to perform any surgery to reduce the dryness. She finally consulted Dr. Chu who clearly explained about her condition and the applicable surgery. Dr. Chu was knowledgeable, efficient with excellent skills, and the surgery went well.
