Today, Jan. 28/21 I had a cataract removed and a lens implanted by Dr Kulkarni. My whole experience from registration to being wheeled out to my ride home, was excellent. I was treated with courtesy and kindness by nurses applying drops. Dr Kulkarni came and administered the final drops herself. She reassured me and explained the process. The surgery itself was short and completely painless. I have no difficulty in recommending very highly this surgeon and her staff. Martin Davies Comox

7 months and low vision ,am finally referred to Dr. Kulkanee. Receptionist calls to set appr. She is curt ,brusk, and borderline rude, and this is just leaving the message on my phone! Call back to reconfirm. I was thunking that without the person to person phone call she was just being herself. Nope curt, cold and brusk when i called back to reconfirm. I was early for my appt,930 a.m ,of course we rush to be on time. Checked door handle,no dictors name on the door,am i at the right office. Door wheels open and get the ,who are you, come in" "for a minute". Never cracked a smile,it was the "karen" in the flesh. I would fire her in a minute. Ive been in business for 15 years . I know its difficult to answer a phone and be pleasant. But please try.

I have Glaucoma and the beginings of cataracts, my original Opthamologist retired and his replacement only took some of his patients. My optometrist recommended Dr Kulkarni. Her staff were friendly and professional towards me. I then saw Dr Kulkarni and she was very pleasant and explained things in terms that as a layperson, I understood. I would recommend Dr Kulkarni in a heartbeat.

Dr Kulkarni is 100% responsible for my mother almost losing her life. During a routine eye procedure (cataract surgery) she injected my mom with the WRONG anesthesia, which caused her blood pressure to spike while on the operating table. As a result, she went into cardiac arrest, not once, but TWICE. She was rushed into heart ward at Comox Hospital, and if not that for that team of doctors and nurses, she would not be alive. After 3 nights @ Comox hospital and ambulance transport down to Royal Jubliee in Victoria for an angiogram she was released, but is still suffering the effects of this absolute dereliction of duty in this doctors standard of care. Dr Kulkarni even called my mom to apologize after her ordeal and tried to blame it on the OR nurse, saying she gave her the wrong medication!!! We know this is completely untrue, as we have several close friends who are OR nurses, and before any drug is administered to a patient, the vial and the syringe are shown to the surgeon, and they must approve it. This was absolutely her failure as a doctor, and I urge ANYONE even CONSIDERING to have a procedure done by her to go elsewhere. She is not fit to be a health care professional, and she could have easily caused the death of my mother, who is 72 years old and healthy with no underlying health issues luckily. Worst “doctor” ever.

I don't generally write reviews but I was in Dr. Kulkarni's office for the first time today. The office staff was great professional, friendly and efficient. I particularly appreciated Dr. Kulkarni's extensive exam and interaction on my eye issues. Thank You!

On Friday Feb. 14th of 2020, I came to Dr SADHANA V. KULKARNI for a rupture in my right eye that had stuck me unexpectantly 2 days before. Our brief but intense encounter happened over the course her initial 5-10 minute examination of my eye. I had heard positive things about her as a doctor before I met her but the person I dealt with that day ... was different. The doctor Kulkarni that examined me was rude almost from our initial hellos. Ordinary question and answers became accusatory and mean spirited. I lowered my head and fell into silence. I have never got up and walked out of an initial exam before, but I would have this time ... but I had gunk in my eyes so I just sat there. NOTHING was diagnose'd or determined because "the blood pooled in my eye was too thick ... and we would have to schedule a followup". Which, it was hinted, was my fault??? From my point of view, I went through all the poking and prodding and stress ... for nothing. I got out of that room. Cancelled the followup. And am in the process of being referred to someone else to deal with the rupture in my eye. My level of fear and concern about the severity of the rupture was high as I went into the exam room that day. The level of my surprise and disappointment in the quality of care I experienced in those few minutes, was even higher coming out . I understand Ms. Kulkarni probably had just had a very long and difficult 10-12 hours of intense focus. And I admit i was her very last patient that unfortunate Valentine's Day. But what she did and said to me, in my opinion, was unsympathetic, unprofessional and at times even cruel ... and I'm calling her on it.
