They also have very strict covid protocols so I am very comfortable visiting their store knowing that I am as safe as I could be. I would have never found this shop if it wasn't recommended to me by a friend but this shop is located in a cute little plaza tucked away off Woodbridge Drive. As my first visit was during pandemic times, I needed to make an appointment online to enter the store to browse which was great as that time is dedicated exclusively to yourself. So customer service obviously is 100% since you are the only one there. I visited the store as I was looking for my first ever pair of optical glasses and Joanne was great and pulled all kinds of styles and price points for me to try on. Long story short, Joanne went above and beyond my expectations for helping me find the frame to suit my face and style and I say this because on my initial visit I narrowed it down to one frame and went home to think about it... but then decided I wasn't completely happy with that choice so I decided to go online and seach myself thru styles the store did not carry (but within the same brand of my choice) and messaged Joanne some 6 to 8 more styles to see if she could get them in for me to try.... She was able to call the local distributor and get them in for me to try SO FAST! I was genuinely impressed! No other store would have completed that kind of request so fast and efficient and definietly not without any kind of salty demeanor. I'm still impressed just thinking about it. So if I could give 10 stars, I would. Looking for glasses? Then hit up your girl Joanne. Totally recommend this little shop.

UPDATE: I recently scheduled an appointment for my husband and I. The store has great sanitation protocols in place. The machines were cleaned even though we were spouses, there were sanitation stations, barriers and the store was locked to ensure social distancing. I arrived to my appointment early and with my 7 month old baby. They took us in right away and even offered to do a check up on my baby. I always thought optometrist just give you your prescription so you can buy glasses, but Dr. Ng was very through and actually took the time to explain things to us. He was also very gentle with my baby and explained everything he was doing before he would do it which was comforting to me as a new mom. I felt that Joanne and Dr. Ng went above and beyond what I was expecting to the point that I wanted to update my review. The first time I went to Market Lane Optical I only needed contacts. While there I was given information on what kind of contacts and glasses I need for my eye and life style needs. I ended up coming back to buy some glasses and will likely be back for some sun glasses. They have brands that you don't come across often so if you want something a little less generic and great customer service Market Lane Optical is your one shop stop.

I went to several places to shop around before meeting Joanne and Michael here and the experience was amazing. You can see the passion they have for what they do, they're well educated in this field and the quality of their products are far beyond what you see in a regular optical store. They hand pick their selections mostly European brands that are unique and authentic that you don't see everywhere. I bought a pair of Germano Gambinis transitional eyeglasses and I love them. Coming from Unionville Optical, I know I wouldn't be disappointed when I needed new glasses. I love my Belstaff and L.G.R eyewear I got from them, with the German designed trivex lenses, I couldn't believe what my eyes could see with such powerful and technologically advanced lenses. Poorest customer service I have ever experienced in the optical industry. My daughter has tried to get her prescription several times after she had her appointment with no success. When my daughter went in for her appointment she was given the offer of sample contact lenses. She was told it would be ordered for her right away and she left all necessary contact information. She never received any notification afterwards and we found out they never placed the order. She went in another time to get her prescription so we could order her contact lenses elsewhere however there was no doctor available. She was told she would be contacted when the doctor came in and the same thing happened and we received no contact from them. I took matters into my own hands and went in myself and asked to have her prescription emailed to me. I left my contact information and was told I would be emailed the next day. I didn’t receive the email as promised. I hope no other customer is treated with disregard as we have considering now I will look into another optical place that prefers me and daughter as a customer.

I am hard of hearing as well and Michael put me at ease and made it very easy for me to understand him—he is a natural for putting others at ease. I normally live in Vaughan but due to COVID-19 I got "stranded" in BC. I reached out Market Lane Optical because it was one of the few stores that actually carried the frames I was interested in. Joanne was absolutely amazing! I purchased sunglasses (with prescription) and eyeglasses. She was very fair with pricing (I thought the price I got was very reasonable!) and even shipped them out to BC for free (along with extra wipes and cleaning solution, which was really appreciated)! The only issue was it did take a while to get my glasses since placing the order (HOWEVER based on current events and how my frames were European, this really was out of Joanne's hands). I will be flying back to Vaughan in August finally and will stop by the store to make sure the glasses are properly adjusted. All in all, despite the current circumstances she did everything she could to get my glasses to me in a timely manner, was super accommodating and was amazing to deal with. I don't think I will need to change my frames ever again but will come back to this place to update my prescription!

This is my personal review - I was not asked or paid to write this, even though what I might say may make you think that, I assure you that isn’t the case. The team at MLO is nothing short of exceptional - take this from someone who has been wearing glasses for 20+ years, and has seen too many optometrists to count). I gave Dr. Alan Ng. a shot after being referred by someone at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, and I have never had better results with my vision care. Despite having tried 10+ different types of contact lenses in the past, being rejected for LASIK eye surgery, and having a really tough prescription - Alan and his team were able to accomodate me with a unique custom product they sourced from a global supplier. The product is giving me 20/10 vision (when my glasses only get me to 20/25) and is very comfortable to wear. However it’s not just Alan that deserves accolades, the entire team at Market Lane is responsible for the exceptional experience I received. Joanne, along with two other members (who’s names I am blanking on at the moment) helped me on numerous occasions with finding the best pairs of eyeglasses for my face (and they were really good at picking). In one instance Joanne went above and beyond when I showed up to pick up my contacts 5 minutes before close, and she invested 45 minutes of her personal time to make sure I could put on the contacts and take them off because I was scared I wouldn’t be able to do it on my own (and I did need her help at the end). Experiences like this are what makes your team truly a leader and role model amongst your industry peers. I wish I had found out about MLO earlier. I had a great experience at market lane. Dr Will Was very thorough and spent over an hour doing my eye exam. I definitely felt like all my questions were answered. Afterwards the staff spent quite a long time helping me pick a pair of sunglasses without feeling like I was rushed or forced into a pair. They were so polite and friendly, something that we rarely see in business today. My husband and I went in last month. The service was excellent from the time we made an appointment on the phone to the day of pick up. We made an appointment over the phone to come in to look around and they send you an email and text confirmation. Once we were there they would lock the door so no one would come in because of Covid so we had the whole store to ourselves. Only thing is they don't do direct billing but they will help you fill out your online claim with your benefits right there in the store if you needed help, which is what Joanne did as my husband decided to do his claim on his phone while we were there. The store was very clean and tidy and staff was very professional. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for quality service.
