I gave a friend a ride and was basically witness to pretty poor customer service, disrespect and disregard to customers privacy and feelings, to be honest. The facility itself is nice but it can only be as nice as the professionalism and courtesy shown by the people who represent it. Based on what I saw, I wouldn't even consider coming here and my friend has proclaimed that it's her last time.

I continued to have an issue so Sunday she met me at the practice and provided additional care and assurance that my problem should resolve shortly. Just a note of appreciation. First, in September 2019, I noticed a pool of fluid in my eye. I called my eye doctor (not at The Eye Care Center) and they couldn't fit me in. Knowing it could be serious, I called The Eye Care Center, and was given an appointment that very day, around 11 am. Since I was prepping my (Canandaigua City School) classroom for the start of school, you were just a hop and skip away. Dr. Ceravolo saw me and told me it was a retinal detachment, but I really had no idea what that entailed. She mentioned surgery, and I assured her I couldn't have it the next day as it was the first day of first grade and my students needed me there. She so lovingly explained that surgery needed to happen. Dr. Piper was amazing for that detachment surgery. She answered my lists of questions at every visit, assuring me she loves questions. She understood my need to be at school, and worked with me so I could get back into the classroom. On Dec 24, 2019, Dr. Piper did my cataract surgery--that day because I just didn't want to miss any more school. If it was important to me--she made it work. This past week I experienced yet another amazing situation. On Friday evening, I noticed some eye issues that sent a red flag. It's hard for me to call a medical place when it's closed; I don't want to bother anyone. But, I've been told by Dr Ceravolo and Dr Piper to call if anything comes up. So I did. After leaving my info with the answering service early Saturday morning, Dr. Hindman called me back. She listened to my explanation and asked if I could meet her at the Canandaigua location at 8 am. Yes! The weather wasn't pleasant. She was so cheerful for having to come in on her day off. She calmly got me settled in a room and got the eye dilated. She saw things that concerned her, so she called Dr Piper. Dr Piper returned the call in less than 3 minutes, and said she was on her way. Dr Piper told Dr Hindman she could leave because she knows me and it'd be fine, but Dr Hindman said she'd stay with me until she arrived. I was touched by that decision. Dr. Piper arrived and the two doctors discussed what they saw. Dr. Piper explained about the retinal tears. Both doctors said it was a very good thing I'd called because it probably prevented a detachment from happening. They gave me the impression they were happy to be there! Dr. Piper fixed the tears with laser surgery and all was well. Oh--we weren't sure if I'd want to drive home after the laser surgery, so Dr. Hindman talked to the custodian about the possibility of leaving my car there and he called the folks who plow to find the answer. The kind man assured me I could leave my car right where it was and he'd snow blow around it if needed. That was so very sweet--going above and beyond. Today, someone from The Eye Care Center called to make the appointment for a check up. Even she, I don't know her name, was downright cheerful. Her voice practically twinkled. So--it was time to say thank you for the amazing care you give your clients. I am one pleased, very impressed patient. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

My name is Jodie and I am new to the area and in need of an eye doctor. My brother and his family suggested trying Eye Care Center of Canandaigua since they have all used this office. After getting this recommendation I thought I would read the reviews to see if this is the office I want treating me. Unfortunately the reviews were not too positive which made me question if I should be using this professional group. After much consideration I thought I would give the office a call. To my surprise a lovely girl named Tina answered the call and was so helpful and accommodating which totally changed my mind about not using this group of doctors. I just had my check-up and although I missed the usual great crew in Canandaigua - this time I had my appointment in Geneva. I felt very safe with the Covid-19 procedures they had in place. Dr. Ceravolo was great and the person that assisted her was friendly and patient with me. I'd recommend The Eye Care Center as the staff and doctors are great. Why go to Rochester for great care!

I was having some blurry vision and looking for any eye care office that was open on a Saturday. I was referred to the Canandaigua Eye Care Center and Dr. Hwang was able to see me on Saturday at 5:30 pm. It was also Labor Day weekend. I was amazed and grateful that a doctor would be on call on a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. Dr. Hwang was wonderful, very reassuring, and gave me instructions for what to do in the future if my eye is bothering me again. I felt so relieved that I didn't have to wait until Tuesday (since Monday was Labor Day) to get my eye looked at. Thank you, Dr. Hwang.

I have not had a full field of vision for a long time. Drooping eyelids caused me to consistently tilt my head upward in order to see. To make matters worse I 'looked' tired and inattentive. Dr Rothstein and her team would quickly resolve these problems for me. They obtained insurance approval and corrected my drooping eyelid/vision problem with a quick, gentle laser assisted surgery. I had very minor bruising and a perfect outcome. I am sure this is because of Dr Rothstein's expertise and gentle touch. I have used The Eye Care Center in the past for cornea transplants and had an identical positive experience with Dr. Hindman. I highly recommend The Eye Care Center and Drs. Rothstein and Hindman and trust you will have the same positive experiences as me. When it comes to your vision only the best is acceptable and the Eye Care Center is the best.

Update: added one more star for the awesome folks outlined below. Regarding the low cost option noted by their response, shop around. You can get same quality frames for less (I checked afterwards - sharing this so you can do your homework first). I wish I could rate the two separate businesses here. Entry receptionists are Awesome, Doctors and other medical assistants - Awesome. Five star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100%!!! Eye glass center, different story. Receptionist there... condescending. They are extremely uptight when it comes to the face mask. Now I appreciate that they are in people's faces to adjust glasses. The Optometrist doesn't wear a face shield which amazes me with how uptight they are. They will scold you ruthlessly if you try to adjust your facemask so you don't fog up when you try to see what the over priced glasses look like on your face. Sad to say this, but their people skills are not the best. Moral of the story, go see the Doctors and staff - they are awesome! I can't stress that strong enough! Buy your glasses, etc. elsewhere. You'll save $$$ and have a more pleasant experience.

About a year ago, I moved to upstate NY and was in need of a corneal specialist due to an eye condition and Dr. Hindman of the Eye Care Center was recommended. The office staff is extremely professional, easy to work with, and efficient. I also wear scleral lenses, which are generally not covered by insurance, but Carol (contact lens "fitter") stated that the Eye Care Center pushes hard against insurance, which was true. Dr Hindman wrote a letter to insurance stating that the contacts are for medical purpose and therefore should be covered by insurance. This is the only Eye doctor I have been to that actually pushes insurance with regard to speciality contact lenses. Other doctors just say that insurance will not cover it and then charge me the full price. I am very satisfied with the care I receive and Dr Hindman is thorough and explains everything happening in my eye and if any next steps are necessary. I highly recommend the Eye Care Center!

Dr. Rothstein and the entire staff I encountered at the Center were superb...extremely profession, technically competent, and “customer centric”. All appointments were prompt, efficient and proficient. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority. The Center and Dr. Rothstein were very understanding of my schedule constraints, and worked to accommodate my needs, yet never wavered in regards to quality results or standards of care. Wow... just called and was greeted by a very rude lady on the phone named Tammy!! I am a self paying patient.. having issues with my eyes.. explained my situation and she treated me terrible and was very rude... I will take my money elsewhere.. Called Flaum eye care in Geneva today... kind sweet got me the help I needed rite away... didn’t have to deal with a rude lady!!! Highly recommend them and I haven’t even walked in the door... customer service goes a long way people... treat people poorly and you lose money... never will I waste a penny at the eye care center in Canandaigua...

I was diagnosed with a cornea disease called Fuchs Dystrophy. It was slowly taking away my eyesight. My ophthalmologists recommended that I go to the Eye Care Center in Canandaigua, because I would get the best eye care results in her opinion. I went to the eye care center where I met Dr. Holly Hindman the cornea specialist. She verified I needed a double cornea transplant and went over all the instructions needed to make the transplants successful. She was very specific on how she would do the procedures, but most importantly what I needed to do personally to also make the procedure a success. She said it would be a joint venture and I needed the to follow the instructions exactly to get an optimal result. I was amazed by how much time she spent with me. After having the procedures, I following her instructions exactly, and when I went to a follow up appointment, my cornea"s were attaching perfectly. She said I must have followed her instructions perfectly as directed. It really was a joint venture. I can now see out of both eyes clearly. I am amazed at things I see now that I couldn't before. I truly recommended Dr. Holly Hindman because she gives you great care. She cares about her patients, she doesn't sugar coat anything, and I felt that I was in competent hands at all times. Overall, the Eye Care Center is a great place to go for eye care. Everyone there from the front desk, to the technicians, and Dr. Hindman have been very thorough, respectful and professional, every time I have been there. I never felt like I was being rushed or pushed thru. I highly recommend the Eye Care Center in Canandaigua. THIS PLACE CHANGED MY LIFE

Over the past two years I have had cataract surgery and corneal transplants in both eyes. The surgeries were performed by Dr. Holly Hindman. Dr. Hindman is awesome. First and foremost, she is a brilliant physician. She is also friendly, caring and professional. I am amazed that corneal transplant surgery is even possible, and am even more amazed with the result. I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes without any corrective lenses! The supporting staff for the physicians has been great as well. All that I interacted with were friendly, professional and competent. I would recommend Eye Care Center, and particularly, Dr. Hindman, to anyone needing specialized eye care.

First off, the staff was not friendly at all, from the front desk, to the assistant and ESPECIALLY the doctor who had NO bedside manor. I waited OVER an hour to see the doctor for TWO MINUTES!!! I literally looked at my watch. I could hear the staff right outside the room talking and laughing as I was waiting to be seen for the doctor to be paid to come in and say she needs a new script, see you in a year.. NO THANKS! I then waited 15 minutes to check out as there was only 1 checkout person, then was told it would be over 30 minutes to be able to look at glasses.. that’s when I took my script and left. Brought my script somewhere else and they were amazing and I will continue to go elsewhere from now on.

I will never waste my time at the eye care center ever again. I had the displeasure of dealing with Linda on phones. She was nasty and beyond rude! Both times I spoke with her she was eating while speaking with me. I could clearly hear her eating and mumbling throughout our conversation. I would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy. They really need to do something out their customer service. Huge disappointment!!

My wife's cataract surgeries were successful. Follow up visits were satisfactory, with the exception of the initial eyeglass prescription, which was redone at her request. The were glasses made there. One of the lenses fell out repeatedly. Returning to have it fixed was prompt and easy, however it happened too many times. The lens was not found the last time it fell out. This time, my wife was told she would be charged for the replacement. Our position is that the glasses were clearly defective, causing the lens to fall out four or more times. My wife refused to pay to have them fixed. She will not be returning to the Eye Care Center.

Had a minor procedure done here after a year of bringing this issue to the specialist’s attention. Kept being told that home remedies would heal this concern, but clearly I needed an alternative. Once the procedure was complete, it did not heal properly because it was butchered. It was done incorrectly and when I went to Cornerstone Eye Associates, it was fixed and has since healed amazingly. I would not recommend nor will I be returning.

Liked the Dr but customer service is lacking, charged an extra 35$ to my copay with no notice only telling me after I was done with the appt, only when questioned I was told everyone else does it it was for giving u a script for glasses? Thought that’s what I went there for? I was handed a paper, AFTER, the appt and AFTER I asked. I checked with three other eye places and the DO NOT charge over the copay! Will be changing eye care place after being here for over 20 years, very uncomfortable ????

The people I talked to on the phone were really nice, and I don't want to take that away from them. But I was running late for my 7:50am appointment and tried to call ahead but their phones don't come on until 8am. Which begs the question, why have appointments prior to 8 AM if you don't have phones up incase something happens. I got there at 8 and was basically scolded like 10 minutes is equivalent to an hour. They wanted me to reschedule, but only had something a month away. In these times flexibility is key for a business, and they are rigid as I've seen.

They lied to me and told me that they took my insurance. After spending tons of money and going to multiple appointments, still didn't get proper care for my eyes and couldn't afford contacts after they told me my insurance wouldn't cover anything. Would not recommend this place to anyone!

Dr. Rothstein did an eyelid lift on me to improve my vision. My peripheral vision, in particular. My eyelids were hanging below my lash line. The surgery was is April 2021. Very disappointing experience. Was rushed through appointment and was not given a proper prescription to order new contact lenses and also missed an issue in one eye. Was told to use over the counter eye drops for 4 days and not wear contacts. Didn’t help and I had to go to Aberle eye care who immediately prescribed steroid eye drops which helped right away. Will not be going back.

Even when the staff had to juggle schedules to fit us in when we had an acute issue we were seen in what I thought was a quite reasonable time. I was unhappy with my previous eye doctor and sought care at the Eye Care Center. I was refused as a patient because I had been referred there sometime in the last year or so for a consult and they felt it would look like they were stealing me from the other practice. That is ridiculous because I am leaving that practice anyway and I believe I made that clear. I understand that no one wants to look like they are "stealing" patients but when it is made clear that I am seeking care elsewhere because I am not happy with the care I have received in the past, there should be no issue with accepting me as a new patient. This was handled about as unprofessionally as anything I have seen in my 44 years as a nurse.

When I turned 43 and after several years of blaming the "glare" for my increasing inability to read the "fine print," I took my friend's advice and stopped in at the Eye Care Center. Taylor and the rest of the optical shop staff made me feel welcomed and helped me pick out a great pair of glasses. I wear them all the time. It is nice having a one stop shop for my eye care needs close to home in the Finger Lakes.
