My four kids and I have been going to Dr. Schell for a few years now and I've never been happier with an optometrist! Dr. Schell and his staff are professional and are great with kids. I've never had any issues getting in for emergency appointments and he makes sure that you understand any issues or treatment plans before leaving. My eyes were bothering me a lot a couple years ago and he helped with a quick diagnosis, referred me to a colleague who specialized in the issue and helped me manage things at home. Last year my 5 years old experienced an eye injury at school and he was able to see her shortly after it happened and we walked out of there with a treatment plan and I felt reassured with all of the information I was given. If you're looking for an optometrist in Barrie Dr. Schell's practice is a great place to go!

I took my kids to Dr. Schell's and was very pleased. The clinic is very professional, up to date, and the selection for all ages is terrific. Dr. Schell explained the tests he was doing and made the exam fun and interesting. Afterwards, no one needed glasses and they couldn't have been more disappointed!! The rest of the day and since my kids have been educating me on eyes. I didn't know the eye was mostly water. I'd recommend this clinic to everyone and we'll certainly be back.

Hi, there, I had my lower punctal plugs removed over a month ago based on your recommendation. They had been in for nearly 20 years for dry eye management. I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU! My eyes have not felt this great in 10 years! No tearing, no dryness, no oily lid margins and no foreign body sensation when moving my eyes. I don't use at all now. I did the Omega 3 supplements but found the high does caused me some sleep problems, which is a well-documented response some people have. So even without those, all is great!!!! You have a great friendly staff, professional services and excellent personality. You demonstrated an in-depth knowledge, explained everything in detail during they eye exam and took the time to listenl. Without hesitation I will refer people to you, have already sent 2. Update - 3 months later.. no problems, eyes feel the best they have in 20 years! Thank you, Rob T. (Barrie)

Lovely staff and Dr Schell was really wonderful with me and my 1 year old daughter. The waiting room was full of age appropriate and engaging toys. It really makes a difference in the frustration aspect of waiting with a baby.

I have been having health issues for some time but until seeing Dr. Schell, I had been told by my family doctor that I was imagining symptoms. Dr. Schell gave me relief that I am NOT 'imagining' things. He was very attentive and knowledgeable. I had an excellent appointment and was completely comfortable. I can't recommend him more!

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I called this eye care center numerous times trying to book an appointment (during business hours) and no one answered. Out of desperation as I needed new glasses immediately, I walked to the centre and the front office woman would not even buzz me in because I didn't have an appointment. Over airphone I explained I tried calling several times to book one and no one would pick up. She curtly and tactlessly responded "well that's because we're busy!" I never took my business elsewhere so fast! With sciatica pain in my leg I walked to another clinic that same day. The disrespect was not warranted and certainty didn't deserve my time or money. I do not recommend this place.

I called to have my 17 year old daughter seen by Dr. Schell prior to back to school. I was rudely dismissed by office staff who advised me that effective September 1st they would not be servicing patients under 20 years old due to OHIP restrictions announced by the Canadian government. I offered to pay out of pocket for an eye exam. She proceeded to tell me that it was illegal and that I should contact my local MPP. Dr Schell, might I advise you to discuss with your staff a more accommodating method for your current situation. She had no issue telling me to find another optometrist. My family will not be coming back, nor would I recommend your office to anyone. Absolutely disgusting, I would like to sympathize with your position but not accommodating your patients who are willing to pay out of pocket for an eye exam is ridiculous. You would rather send citizens to local emergency rooms during a pandemic to line your pocket? Absolutely disgusted!!

I would recommend this office to anyone. Have always had helpful service and friendly interactions. Today specifically this office has gone above and beyond to assist me when in need. Due to horrid weather they were unexpectedly closing earlier than usual causing me to be unable to pick up my glasses as planned. I desperately needed my glasses in order to perform my duties at my job. This office problem solved and went above and beyond their employment duties to ensure I was able to receive my glasses and I could not be more thankful that they were willing to help me out in this desperate time!
