I had no other eye conditions, only needed glasses for reading and far vision. I was dependent on glasses for everything. I had a great experience with Barrie Lasik. I was referred by (Dr Smith) from the Optical Market, Angus. I wanted Lasik surgery but after consultation, Refractive Lens Exchange was the better Option. Military, in my 41st year of service, RLE is the best for me to regain my Far vision, Mid and a certain portion of my near vision. I am writing presently with no glasses on my laptop, day 4 after after my operation (in Calibri font 11) and I am very very happy ???? to be able to do this with no glasses. My experience at Barrie Lasik: Initially my contact with the clinic front desk was cold and not very re-assuring (the person there need a bit of a refresh on her people skills (too comfortable in her job and a bit dismissive). Once I arrived at the Clinic in Barrie; all of the other members of the clinic were extremely welcoming, they took time with me and explained in details what they were doing for tests and what I was going to go through. Notable person in this clinic, was Chanette. She is very friendly and knowledgeable of the procedures, she went through them herself therefore, she can explain the feeling you get as you go through the different steps of the procedures. I am a bit lengthy here, but I hope this helps people with their decision to be going or not for the RLE eye correction. I was reading a lot on the different procedures, lens and watched multiple YouTube videos to know what I was putting myself through. For myself, I decided to get the Vivity lens put into my eyes (Dr. Tayfour-my eye surgeon) recommended either the Synergy or the Vivity. By watching multiple videos again, I wanted less chance to get halos and better far and Mid Vision so that drove my decision. This next part is how I felt during and after to procedures: Initial day of the operation; great reception at the clinic, (COVID 19 precautions were done) I was brought into the first room (were the lens gets chattered and prepared for the next part). I have to say that I really did not feel any discomfort other than seeing in kaleidoscope (after the lens were chattered), the next part you are brought back (walking) to the Lazy boy room I call it), before the last operating room. Once again, Dr. Tayfour is getting the procedure done and explained what he was doing. The two procedures must last all but 15 or 20 minutes. You are brought back to the Lazy boy room and 10 min later you are ready to go home with the person who drove you to the clinic. You are given a little bag with eye protection covers for the first five nights of sleep and a pair of dark glasses to protect from the sun. my vision currently; left eye better than the right eye. Right eye had a describe it like a big splash in the middle? Definitely not as good as the left one. Night one at home (I am a bit worried about the result before going to bed). 1st morning and before going to the clinic for the first check; much better. The spot or splash? On my right eye is clearing, much better, but the left eye is recovering much faster than my right eye. At the clinic, day after the procedure, again well greeted at the clinic, I have a chance to talk in the waiting room with others that had the same procedure as mine the day before, One lady’s vision is perfect in both eyes, she can already use her phone and described her vision as perfect. Another man; has received the same lens as me, the Vivity and his vision like mine is improving by the hours. I get called into the room for my first check up, Dr. Stewart there checks my eye and is happy to see that my eyes are doing well (very approachable and personable). Explains to me that my vision will continue improving with time and that the right eye is possibly a bit enflamed but not to worry, with the drops, it will catch up to the other eye. My left eye was already strong for the first day.
I hope that this gives you a better understanding with the RLE procedure for eye correction. Well worth the investment in my views.
