REVIEWS OF Dr. Anderson Penno IN Barkerville

I saw Dr. Anderson Penno for a second opinion on an eye injury that I sustained several weeks earlier. She is knowledgeable and thorough and even called me to check in after our initial appointment, which I appreciated. I will continue to see her for all my eye needs now. Side note: the office is clean and implemented all Covid precautions prior to being seen.

Due to my own personal hesitation with the surgery I thought I would write a review to hopefully provide better insight for others. The initial consultations prior to surgery were all conducted in a professional and friendly manner. The information may seem a bit overwhelming but you definitely leave with a good understanding of the surgery and process. They prepare you for the worst but the likelihood of it occurring is very low. The consultation is also painless. They do administer some eye drops that numb your eye, but if you have visited other optometrist you may be familiar with the drops used. The night prior to surgery I barely slept as I was stressed about the surgery. The thought of surgery on my eyes had me very worried. They do tests prior to your surgery, similar to the initial consultation, just to ensure the numbers are the same and correct from the last time, which was felt reassuring to me. Now the most important part, the surgery. They offered me drugs to calm my nerves for the surgery, which was a no brainer and I accepted. They run the laser for you just to give you an idea of how it sounds prior to the surgery so you aren't scared by the noise. The surgery itself, you lay down similar to a dentist appointment and stare into a light, similar to that of a dentist appointment. They put a paper towel over one eye and administer more eye drops to the first eye for surgery. They have to rub over one eye to clean the cells off prior to surgery but it's about 3 rubs - 5 seconds and painless. The surgery itself while they run the laser and you stare at a swirly squiggly light pattern lasted for me depending on which eye 30-35 seconds. TOTALLY PAINLESS. Yes, you smell the smell of burning hair but I just thought of it as something else, someone else, not my eye. Post each eye, you get up and you really feel the drugs to calm you from before so you may need to sit for awhile to get your bearings, but you can see AMAZINGLY. And again I can't stress again, no pain / painless - same as I was right before I walked in. You can see amazing the rest of the day. Your sight starts to diminish to what I'd call what it was before the surgery three days after the surgery, but a week after you can see amazing again. I would totally recommend it. The staff were professional courteous and their main concern was your well being and comfort.

Not impressed at all. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The specialist herself was rude. I was brought to her room where she was sitting and finishing her other file. No introduction at all. She insisted that I would have recurrent infections, which I had to reiterate this multiple times that was not the case. I had tried to explain my past history and she literally said "I don't know what you're talking about I would have to review your chart." Like what??? I would expect a professional to at least make an effort rather than being so blatantly rude and dismissive.

Excellent location, I used to wait 6+ hours for my 10 minute optho appointments. I’m glad I moved and can get quality care, and I don’t think I’ve waited for over an hour at any of my appointments over the years! Not to mention she’s direct and tells you what you need to know.

Sobia Asad

Rude, no courtesy to say hi or hello or ask how you were doing. Her staff is rude too. They all make you fell miserable when you are at their clinic. She will never give you any prescription for the glasses as she wants you to come again to her clinic and pay for it.

John Tatton

convenient parking, nice facility, the staff were all very friendly and efficient.

I've been a patient for over a decade and her office has been consistently professional, kind and efficient. Staff are very compassionate in their care, which is so very appreciated! Dr Penno is always clear in her communication and takes time to answer questions if you have any. She has always erred on the side of caution and have sent me for follow up tests to ensure my eyes are of the best health that they can be. I trust my eyes in Dr Penno's hands.

My visit to dr penno was excellent. I have nothing negative to say. Her staff were all very professional and dr penno explained in detail what was going on. She was very professional without a lot of unnecessary chitchat. Thank you Dr

Without a doubt, Dr. Penno is an extremely knowledgeable, capable and top-notch professional. She was able to diagnose a pituitary tumor behind my eyes that had started to blind me, within 5 minutes of her first examination of my eyes. Something that at least half a dozen specialists over twenty years failed to diagnose. She arranged immediate emergency surgery and save my vision as well as my memory. She is the one doctor in my entire life that has made a significant, life-changing impact on me.

Dr. Penno is a good ophthalmologist. My mom is glad to have her as her doctor.

Matt Brownson

Visited Dr Penno's office and the staff was extremely professional. The tech was very patient with me as I am very nervous about anything near my eyes. I would highly recommend Dr Penno.
