Due to my own personal hesitation with the surgery I thought I would write a review to hopefully provide better insight for others.
The initial consultations prior to surgery were all conducted in a professional and friendly manner. The information may seem a bit overwhelming but you definitely leave with a good understanding of the surgery and process. They prepare you for the worst but the likelihood of it occurring is very low. The consultation is also painless. They do administer some eye drops that numb your eye, but if you have visited other optometrist you may be familiar with the drops used. The night prior to surgery I barely slept as I was stressed about the surgery. The thought of surgery on my eyes had me very worried. They do tests prior to your surgery, similar to the initial consultation, just to ensure the numbers are the same and correct from the last time, which was felt reassuring to me. Now the most important part, the surgery. They offered me drugs to calm my nerves for the surgery, which was a no brainer and I accepted. They run the laser for you just to give you an idea of how it sounds prior to the surgery so you aren't scared by the noise. The surgery itself, you lay down similar to a dentist appointment and stare into a light, similar to that of a dentist appointment. They put a paper towel over one eye and administer more eye drops to the first eye for surgery. They have to rub over one eye to clean the cells off prior to surgery but it's about 3 rubs - 5 seconds and painless. The surgery itself while they run the laser and you stare at a swirly squiggly light pattern lasted for me depending on which eye 30-35 seconds. TOTALLY PAINLESS. Yes, you smell the smell of burning hair but I just thought of it as something else, someone else, not my eye. Post each eye, you get up and you really feel the drugs to calm you from before so you may need to sit for awhile to get your bearings, but you can see AMAZINGLY. And again I can't stress again, no pain / painless - same as I was right before I walked in. You can see amazing the rest of the day. Your sight starts to diminish to what I'd call what it was before the surgery three days after the surgery, but a week after you can see amazing again.
I would totally recommend it. The staff were professional courteous and their main concern was your well being and comfort.
