There is not enough stars available to give Dr. Philips the credit she is due. My son is alive today because she was the first medical professional that took me serious when my son had something white shining in his eye. She stayed after work to see him when I called with my concern. Yes people your optometrist can save your 3 year olds life when he has eye cancer. Get your child's eyes checked every year from birth. Retna Blastoma is on the rise. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for getting everything arranged with Children's Hospital and Dr. Cooper. You rock!

After getting my eyes checked and purchasing glasses here, I have consistently received better service elsewhere. After being told there was nothing they would do for a few scratches, I went to viewpoint and had them buffed and cleaned for free. I also doubted the accuracy of my prescription and was refused a simple prescription check after initially being quoted $69...although I had been here previously. Viewpoint offered to do this for $59.

I travel from Calgary to see Dr Phillips. I have finally found an optometrist that understands how nutrition influences eye health. As both my Grandmother and mother developed Glaucoma and Cataracts, at age 60 I want to give myself the best chance of preventing both conditions. She has the most current technology and gave me simple reminders on nutrition To support my eyes.

I visited Canmore Family Eyecare on Monday, May 26 to have my eyes checked after too many years have passed since I visited an optometry office. My friend, a longtime Canmore resident recommended Dr. Jo and her team and I am so glad she did! It was a great experience from start to finish. I called first thing in the morning to see when I could get an appointment and I was slotted in later that afternoon for a full appointment as I was seeing the Dr. for the first time and a bit more time would be needed to get to know me and my eye history. I found out right away how FAMILY centered it is as I could hear youngsters in the background. Upon arrival into a well lit, well stocked, and clean office I was promptly and pleasantly greeted by Alicyn, who welcomed me and passed me the initial paperwork all the while working with a gentleman on fitting his glasses. As I had arrived early for my appointment I was able to walk around and peruse the shelves filled with fun, funky and functional frames alongside some pretty sporty sunglasses. Great selections with amazing prices and the sale frames were too cute to describe but unfortunately did not work for my face but for anyone out there looking for new frames...go and check these out. Alicyn did the initial testings on two machines I had never seen before and NO PUFF OF AIR TEST that always scared the ahem out of me. Then I left my current prescription glasses and sunglasses with her so she could assess their respective numbers while I moved onto getting acquainted with Dr. Jo and her machines, devices and drops. Dr. Jo did such a thorough and complete eye exam that I can rest easier knowing that my eyes and vision as well as those of my family are in great hands. With an optometrist in my family, I have had very careful and attentive care when it comes to eyes, glasses and contacts so I am so pleased to have found an office and team that is equally as capable, competent and caring as the practice that my family operates; if not more so. I am looking forward to many years of "SEEING" Dr. Jo and Team ahead and can't wait to get some prescription sunglasses to enjoy sports properly soon! As I have enjoyed many different frames and lenses, having worn glasses most of my life, I am excited to spend some time trying things on and can't wait to have a new look. A big THANK YOU to Dr. Jo and the team for allowing me to soon hum "I can see clearly now ..."

I received very conscientious eye care from Joanna Phillips for a couple of years although I never really liked the frenetic pace in the office. Then I bought 2 pairs of top Nikon progressives with a clear understanding that there would be a full refund if I did not adapt. I verified twice verbally that this would include a refund for the frames as with all my visual issues I felt it was less than a 50% chance of adaptation. Needless to say I am now stuck with a $200.00 pair of sunglass frames I do not need. I went on trust but guess I should have got those refund details in writing. I am disappointed that I as a pensioner did not even receive a break on the cost of those frames which the business could certainly have done if they were not willing to honour their warranty.

Both my husband and I see Dr. Jo. at Canmore Family Eyecare. She has been fabulous, friendly, attentive and always willing to explain questions and test results in detail.The whole team was professional and fast acting when we had an eye emergency last year. An extremely fast referral to a specialist in Calgary, resulted in the issue being resolved and better than 20/20 vision restored! The office has top-of-the-line technology - ongoing annual screenings, that we used to have to travel into large city hospitals for, are now available right in Dr. Jo's office. (Hooray!) Their team has helped us to stay within our budget by offering a variety of solutions and offerings for eyewear. We look forward to our annual visits!

Over the last 11 years, have found Joanna and her staff to be incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and sensitive to budget. Dr Jo and her staff are on always on top of the latest trends and tech in eye medicine and will offer you additional services without being pushy. They regularly make an effort to promote to the community services and products that are free, low cost or a great deal. I highly recommend Canmore Family Eyecare for all your optometry needs.

I dropped into Canmore Family Eyecare after my lens fell out of my frame today to find them closed. I was mildly frustrated; the owner was inside and heard me shake the door. Instead of turning me away he warmly invited me in and said was no problem to do the fix. Business is about "attitude" and doing the little things that hold weight. I would not hesitate to return when I am ready for my next replacement pair! Very impressed and appreciative. Thank you!

Dr. Phillips has been my optometrist for a few years now and I have been very pleased with the professional and thorough approach I get at her office. However, a recent event underscored her caring attitude even more. I called very late in the afternoon asking to see her asap. I was informed that there were no appointments available but her assistant asked why I wanted the appointment. When I described my symptoms (severe floaters) Dr. Phillips got right back to me and asked me to come in immediately. When I did see her, I asked if she had had a cancelation.... she responded by saying she really was off work but managed to get a babysitter. She also got me in to see a specialist the next day. Dr. Phillips definitely went way beyond typical professional service to ensure my eye health. It was a very good experience and much appreciated.

I went to Dr. Phillips because of her excellent article on Cataracts in the local Outlook paper. I was pleasantly surprised at the reception I received both from her staff and Dr. Phillips herself. It is obvious that everyone working for her likes their jobs and she, herself, sees Optometry as a calling. Having not been able to receive the communication I needed from an an Eye Specialist, I was pleased that she could provide tests to determine if I qualified for the kind of surgery I thought I wanted. It had been several years since I had visited an optometrist. I was new to the area and was drawn to the Canmore Family Eyecare Clinic by it's interesting atmosphere and great location. The staff were kind, friendly and very knowledgable. I then returned with my family in tow to get us all checked out together. They were great with my 2 small children and catered to their curiosity and short attention spans! I would recommend Dr. Jo for her expertise, approachability, and professionalism. Dr. Jo and the entire team at Canmore Family Eyecare are simply AMAZING! Professional, compassionate and most of all kind. Our daughter was complaining of blurred vision and we were able to see Dr. Jo within the hour today! Our son suffers from severe allergies and Lagophthalmos; Dr. Jo implemented a treatment plan that has helped our son enjoy all the outdoor activities that once were limited. Dr. Jo Phillips is amazing with our young children and to us 'Big' kids too. Canmore Family Eyecare is brilliant and offers an Eye See ..Eye learn Program in Alberta that offered our son a FREE pair of glasses in Kindergarten and is involved in our community educating our children on eye health at the local schools. Our family is extremely grateful for Dr. Jo Phillips and her team at Canmore Family Eyecare.

took my daughter in for annual eye check up. I was a bit surprised in that no one (the doctor nor receptionist) came and spoke to me about her check up. I was left sitting in waiting area after the appointment and had to go to the front desk to inquire details. I was then told everything is fine. I then asked for a copy of her prescription and was told I had to bring in my daughters eye glasses for them to examine them. I found this very strange and said I just needed a copy of the prescription. I left the office and was chased down by the receptionist who then told me the Dr wanted to talk to me. The Doctor told me the same thing, but then said I did not have to return with the glasses. I reiterated my request and she agreed. I was a bit put off by the miss information and seemingly an attempt to have me bring in my daughters old glasses in exchange for getting my daughter's prescription. Don't think I'll be going back there again.

I had Dr. Phillips examine and prescribe corrective lenses and contacts for me this past summer, and found her and her team to be very helpful. I was impressed by her attention to details, like what activities (swimming, skiing, climbing, hiking, camping, etc,) I would be doing, and how my glasses/contacts would work best in extreme conditions. I bought sunglasses there as well, and am very satisfied with all the products I bought. I should add that because I was leaving for a climbing trip, I needed the new prescriptions quickly, and was supplied a trial set of contacts free of charge immediately after having my requisite contact lens "lesson", which was performed unexpectedly the same day as my exam. I felt they went over and above in their efforts to satisfy. As a fellow health professional, I appreciated the professionalism of Dr. Phillips and her team. From the front office staff, assistants, and Dr. Phillips, my experience was notably excellent. Thanks for making me see better.

Our family has been seeing Dr. Jo Phillips at Canmore Family Eyecare for over 5 years and have had nothing short of EXCEPTIONAL service at every single appointment. Recently my 11 year old son was complaining of frequently having blurred vision and Dr. Jo was able to get him in for a check up within 48hrs of my call. It turns out his eyes had changed a fair bit within the last year and it was time for glasses! At no time did we feel pressured to purchase glasses immediately. In fact, Dr. Jo advised we could hold off until closer to the school year or until we got our benefits sorted out. When we came back to the clinic a few weeks later to try on some glasses, we had the pleasure of seeing Joanne who helped my son select an amazing pair of Ray Bans. My son wasn’t exactly sure what colour of frames he wanted and they didn’t have them in the store on display so Joanne was kind enough to load the website and show him all of the colour scheme/combinations so he knew exactly what they would look like. Joanne was extremely helpful, patient and went out of her way to make sure we 100% satisfied with our purchase. When the frames arrived in, I was promptly informed and my son was invited to come and try on the frames one more time before they sent them away to get the lens in. Within two weeks we were called back and informed my sons glasses had arrived. I big shout out to all of the staff at Canmore Family Eyecare for their fabulous service (especially for making us feel safe during every appointment during COVID). We are so pleased!!

Her team is also excellent; Natsuko did a wonderful job helping us pick out frames (and with a very busy toddler this is not an easy task!).

I have been to see Dr Jo several times. For my three kids and for myself. Had a great experience each time. Friendly, professional, lovely reception staff and a nice modern office (even with a TV screen for the kids to focus on while she moves around them assessing their vision). I hope to be returning for many years to come.

High pressure sales tactics and false representation used to coerce consumers in to purchasing their glasses. 1. My son needed glasses and found a pair he liked. The store did not have it in his size and said they would order the correct size. The store also stated that they could not pre-order glasses Unless we committed to the purchase sight unseen. My son’s glasses were too small when they arrived. He cannot wear them because the earpieces do not reach fully behind his ears. The frames look like the smaller pair he tried on in store - but there is no way to tell because we never got to see in advance what the sales clerk deemed would be his size. 2. I needed new glasses and was told I had to move to progressive lenses. I kept saying I wanted single vision. The sales clerk insisted that I had to at least give the progressive a try. She pressured me in to purchasing frame and lenses costing nearly $700. The frames are more than double the normal size of my frames. I repeatedly told the sales clerk I did not like the frames and expected I would be back in a week to return them. The sales clerk kept pressuring me to at least try with the frames and progressive. Turns out that I do not need progressive. The store now says fine they will move me back to single vision except they insist that the frames are not refundable. Sounds like something that should have been clearly stated the first time I told the sales clerk that the frames did not fit and I expected I would not be satisfied. The clerk fully remembered her high pressure tactics and was quite happy to agree that she had pressured me knowing I would not be able to return the glasses, and knowing as expected I would be able to if the glasses did not work for me. A business that sees nothing wrong with misrepresenting return policies and pressuring customers is not a business worth supporting.

I have happily been a patient of Dr. Joanna Phillips since Feb 2008 - before she set up her new office, Canmore Family Eyecare! In 2008 she diagnosed me with a persistent eye issue, Iritis - and since then, I have felt confident with ALL her exams, diagnoses and suggestions for my eye issue. She AND her team, particularly her admin assistant Alison, are ever so accommodating!! Dr. Jo has assisted me with quite a few emergency situations. One emergency that most comes to mind is when she came into the office just for me, on the weekend AND during her maternity leave! I felt she REALLY cared about me and that she WANTED to know how I was doing. As I go forward with this persistent case of Iritis, I feel VERY confident with her decisions when it comes to deciding on which medications I need, dosage and for how long I must use them. She is a very knowledgeable, caring Doctor, who is also easy to talk to. I am VERY glad she is on my side !! I believe that if I ever had any issues with their service, given the opportunity, either Alison or Dr. Phillips would be quick to rectify the situation!
