REVIEWS OF Cloudbreak Eye Care IN Alberta

Kieran Wood (Descent)

Update: I am leaving the old review up as it is still representative of my problems with here, however I went in today and the service was fast (in and out in about an hour). I forget the name of the lady who I spoke to when reorganizing this appointment and one thing that helped to put it into perspective was the fact that the doctors often have to go to mandatory conferences to which they get little notice. If they would have let me know this in the first place I would have been less annoyed in my first review. To reassess what I would say is it's still a pain to book, but in fairness they are excellent when you get there. I have had to go for an appointment and a flow up appointment, and so far the first appointment was rescheduled due to the doctor not working the days 3 times before I finally got in to see him. Then the first follow up was rescheduled twice for similar reasons (once with 1 days notice, why don't I get to charge for that) and now have been trying to schedule yet another follow up and just spent ten mins on hold waiting to reschedule this appointment again because the doctor again isn't in on the scheduled day. In the future I'm just not going to botnet with her and go to the other facilities that are further out of my way but might be able to schedule me correctly the first time.

Doctors are pretty good

I always feel welcome and heard at Cloudbreak Eye Care. The knowledgeable, friendly and respectful team of staff and Doctors have always provided the utmost care and person-centred support in every visit. Thank you so very much for everything you do

I have been going to cloudbreak for about a year now due to chronic eye issues. Regardless of if I’m here when they are super busy or not, the staff is always extremely friendly and super efficient (especially considering every patient has to have multiple tests done). If you have any questions the staff will take the time to answer your questions just make sure you ask! I never see any of the staff sitting around doing nothing they are always hard at work. To anyone who has had a negative experience I find this so hard to believe. From the receptionist to the nurses to the doctors I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say. Even though dealing with chronic eye issues sucks, I always leave their office feeling better because they are so so friendly. (And I have been to multiple clinics to compare them too!!) I highlyyyyy recommend coming here.

Professional, courteous and friendly staff all working to make sure you can see properly. I don't understand the negative reviews on this page, but I think people need to take a step back and realize how good we have it here. These people are all teaming up to make sure you don't go BLIND! Think about it - in other countries, this technology and availability just doesn't exist. I'm thankful for this place and their staff regardless of their semi open concept layout. Here's a concept folks - efficiency... and it's for YOUR benifit. Thank you Cloudbreak for doing what you do. Preventative medicine at its best.

Receptionist is very unkind. Her expression makes the atmosphere freeze...????????

Not impressed. They don't send appointment reminders then try to charge you $75 to make another one for not showing up. Obviously no one would just not show up for an eye exam!

My two recent visits to the Cloudbreak office were by far some of the best medical/clinical experiences I have ever had! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the place ran like a well-oiled machine. I arrived on time for my appointments and didn't have to wait more than five minutes in the waiting room each time, which was amazing to me. Dr. Malcolm Gooi was extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions and the staff who performed my eye scans were top notch! Note: The building has plenty of parking and to the reviewers who complained about having to pay $3 for three hours' parking, you've clearly never parked at a hospital or an airport before. :)

I have been a patient of Dr Patrick Gooi since August 2020, he performed a GATT procedure on my right eye. Right eye has been better since then. He is very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you ask him.

SAÈC unit attention is totally personalized and professional you feel safe on your hànds. Thanks guys.

Dr Chris Hanson is great! He cut my chalazion out without scarring.

The process I went thru with the referral, the testing, diagnosis and treatment was a bit scary but I was so grateful for the kind professional care I received from the staff and Dr. GOOI. Thank you so much for helping me .

24/02/2020. I am writing a review to my initial post below because I was contacted by this clinic. I got a detailed engagement regarding how they care and respect their patients. The experience I had was unfortunately awful but with this benefit of the doubt and the follow up I received, I have accepted their apology. I will like to thank Christy very well for her understanding and level of professionalism. Healthcare institutions are designed to be life saving solution centers where empathy should be a watch-word. I will be re-visiting the same clinic today and I am hopeful for a better service. ___________________________________________ 11/02/2020 The worst ever clinic I have visited in my life. No compassion for client, very rude receptionist and unkind clinic supervisor. I have asked my doctor to kindly refer me to another clinic. Even if one is right, there are ways to address people. They just portray themselves as nunch of racist just for coming in 5min late for appointment trying to find parking space. Pls use other clinics guys. This bunch of unprofessional staff shouldn't be in an healthcare practise and the clinic owner should quickly review the kind of people they put at their front desk. Check the other people's review and confirm my statement. Anyone going to a clinic deserves respect and compassion. Good luck.

A young and vibrant team that is there for your needs. I loved the energy of the place, as usually medical centers have a solemn feel to it. The team was quick to respond to my needs and I had no communication issues during or after the visit. The team went above and beyond of what is expected. I will be definitely returning to this eye care center!

If you can go to other place to check your eyes just proceed.. every time I come here I have to wait about an hour and only 5 minutes with the doctor Update.. Yesterday I have been contacted by a staff from Cloudbreak, he was very respectful, apologized about the situation and explained to me clearly what was the issue on the day I was there. I appreciate his time explaining my medical condition and the next steps. He will investigate thoroughly about any pitfalls and will provide me of a feedback. I appreciate his call and effort.

Is a big peace of mind, having a place like this take care of the most precious person in my life == my mother’s eyes>>> great staff <<<>>>great friendly doctor <<<

Siobhan Koroll

Dr Gooi is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and takes his time to ensure he explains what is happening. Follow up is amazing and the staff are very efficient. Always in time.

I was so pleased with how smoothly our appointment went. The office was very full...I was worried that there wouldn't be a place to sit, but there always was. We needed two separate tests and a consult with the doctor and were cheerfully and efficiently moved through that process, never waiting long between steps. Never felt rushed. Thank you so much!

Kathy Cheung

Poorly managed clinic as waiting time is insane. I had three appointments and each I had to wait for more than an hour. If I have to wait that long what is the point of making appointments?

Diamondmineboy

I like Dr Hanson... having experienced medical treatment in other parts of the world... poorer countries and the richer ones... I have acquired a sense of gratitude which makes waiting all the more palatable

Anne Rideout

I received the best care at Cloudbreak, the staff is very professional, efficient and well organized clinic. Dr. Goii is the best.

Vin Vishwakarma

Booked an appointment twice, both times my mom had to wait for 40minutes.receptionists are always stuck up. When I approached this unwelcoming receptionist, she was non apologetic and simply shrugged it off by saying we're short staffed. don't book an appointment here unless you want to painfully wait and deal with cranky receptionists . understanding that people call in sick but there is a way to relate to your customer, be apologetic, ensure that it won't be much longer, put a smile on you face. Makes a world of a difference.

Greg Smith

Very courteous and professional staff. My eye problem was resolved quickly and efficiently by the competent physician. Very happy and will always be keeping Cloudbreak as my primary eye care contact!

Lorelei Popa

I do not recommend this place. I did a lot of tests but Dr. Gooi didn't explain anything looks like was in hurry. All what he said was to do the following appointment

dana ben

schedule says they close at 4, however I called at 3 and they were already closed

I've been coming to Cloudbreak for some time now and I've only ever been greeted in a warm, kind manner. I absolutely trust this team to continue monitoring my eyes. They answer all of my questions, tend to any new or persisting issues and most importantly I feel heard. I would recommend Cloudbreak and their team of doctors to my family and friends, hands down.

So impressed with this clinic and its staff! I had an appointment here and was nervous about my eye health but the staff and Doctor were very friendly, thorough, professional, and made me feel at ease. I also really enjoyed the beautiful and relaxing waiting room. Definitely recommend them and will go back for my follow-up!

Carmen Talbot

They are not very organized. When you go for your first appointment, you are required to fill information about yourself. Who your doctor is, the list of medications you're taking, the ailments you have, so on and so forth. Then the eye testing happens, where some of it is done right in the waiting room, but that's not a huge problem. The next appointment, was to see the Dr himself. After a long wait, we managed to see Dr and he was very kind, after which he told us to go to the counter and she would take care of us. At the counter, I'm given another pack of papers to fill out More than 1/2 of the questions were exactly the same as the first visit! There were a few extra questions, that probably could have been asked on the first visit as well. All the information that we as patients give should be put in a main folder to which the answer could be connected to our name don't you think? You would think they would have put the first set of questions in a central computer and saved the patient some time? After filling out these redundant questions, I go back to the counter to give back the filled forms and she tells me to keep them and that the surgery coordinator will come to see me. We sat for over 45 minutes! I actually got up and asked the front receptionist if we had been forgotten to which she said, no she wouldn't forget you. (I think I prefer that I'd been forgotten) Finally our name was practically whispered and we got to see the coordinator who came out with more forms. I asked what took so long? She said they were waiting for these last forms. Our appointment was for 1:00 and we got out of there at 3:30 ish, most of it was to wait in the waiting room between stints of doing something constructive such as actually getting tests and talking to the doctor. ************************************** I see that you have responded to my review. The strange thing is that you just blatantly lied? We were NEVER offered to go into a consultation room, as I told you in the first review, we were MADE to sit once again out in the waiting room where you told us that you would call us. We were called very very quietly and then were told off for not hearing the call? Please, if you're going to be professionals, behave like such and do NOT lie about what transpired. As for the earlier appointment to get the work done, that has absolutely nothing to do with the way we were treated. We actually had no problem with waiting longer so that it would not be a a STUDENT (which is what was offered) to do the operation on my father's eyes. I would not take the chance on a student to do delicate operations, would anyone reading this risk their eyesight like that? Now I know that you guys (in the office) are extremely unprofessional as evidenced with the lies you put out. Wow!

Excellent clinic with professional staff. My appointment was a pleasant experience from the intake through the various testing stages to my appointment with Dr. Gooi. I left understanding my personal situation and what the following steps would entail. I highly recommend Dr. Gooi and his Cloudbreak clinic

Very impressed with the doctors and staff - efficient, knowledgeable and patient centric. Highly recommended.

I've been to the clinic 3 times now, and every time has been a good experience. The staff are friendly, and do a very good job of explaining what's going to happen.

Whoever the main floor receptionist is, working at 11am on 01/20/21, needs a serious lesson on front line etiquette. My grandfather was booked 2 appointments first one was today and in the email it states he will not be seeing a doctor as its a baseline testing appointment. Upon entering she was cold and rude. When we gave her my grandfathers name she was insistent that we needed to know who our doctor was or else my grandfather wouldn't be seen. After explaining to her over and over again there was no doctor we had to finally pull up the email stating there was no doctor before she would drop it and get my grandfather checked in. You would think the very people who book these appointments would know whether or not a patient will be seen by a doctor or not wouldn't they? And not only did she not know the information and made no attempts to find out if my grandfather was actually assigned to a doctor or not, she decides she would rather threaten that he will not be seen and quite frankly that is infuriating. Thankfully we arrived early or else this receptionists antics would have made my grandfather late for his appointment and that is not right considering his doctor thought his condition was bad enough that he should be seen as soon as possible. I suggest you have a word with this woman as she is the first impression for your clinic, patients should feel welcome when arriving for their appointment and I can tell you she did the complete opposite! Edit to the owners comments: No, this was not the wrong clinic. I never said my grandfathers appointment was at 11am, we arrived there at 11am, his appointment was at noon. This is why I specified main floor reception as this is the first person you speak with when you enter the Southern Alberta Eye Center. Maybe she isn't an employee specifically of Cloudbreak but regardless she is a representation of your clinic considering she is the first point of contact.

Thank you to the excellent team at Cloudbreak Eye Care. On my recent visit on March 12, I received friendly, efficient and professional care. Each professional was highly skilled and responded to my questions in an informative, helpful manner. I highly recomment Cloudbreak Eye Care.

I like the staff and doctors but I hate the lack of privacy for testing etc in the waiting area. A better layout is possible and more privacy.

Robert Bowles

Way overbooked. Told a few minutes. Over an hour. Told you are next 4 patients later, still waiting. Be honest in your dealings please

Dr Christopher Hansen that works here is an absolute amateur. Visited him repeatedly over the course of two years with reoccurring iritis. Every time was the same. He would examine my eyes and not give any feedback or direction. In most cases he wouldn’t even greet me or talk to me. After around the fifth or so instance of iritis I started doing some google searches. Within a few minutes of being on google I was able to diagnose myself with Ankylosing Spondylitis. A condition that is synonymous with iritis. At no point over the course of those years visiting “Dr Hansen” did he ever mention a coalition between the two conditions. I was shocked when Google told me the iritis and the chronic back pain I was experiencing over the last 10 years were related. I’m now on biologic medication to treat the iritis and ankylosing spondylitis and it’s working wonderfully. Went on a 120km bike ride today. If Dr Hansen did his job correctly I could have been treating this condition far sooner. I think it would have been incredible for an eye doctor to diagnose my arthritis. I did give him every opportunity. Long story short is that this guy is in over his head and you should rethink visiting this amateur. Also, I am offering my services on a non paid volunteer basis to contact patients like myself who have had reoccurring iritis. Perhaps a simple series of questions can diagnose others and get them on a proper path of treatment and recovery.

I can’t say enough good about this exceptional place . I was referred for a significant problem and the level of care and compassion was second to none . The wait times were non existent as they escorted you from room to room and to every qualified compassionate technician and their specific machine. I jokingly told them I’m going to stop sitting between tests because it was easier to stand for 2 minutes then get up . Great care and very thorough explanations of what was to come alleviated all anxiety. Keep up the great work . Highly recommend

The treatment of my wife here was horriable. The staff is rude. Find some where eles. Thats what they told her to do.
