I had PRK corrective eye surgery completed in May and I can't say enough good things about Clarity. Clarity was referred to me by my optometrist and within two days of being referred we had already completed all of the eye testing to ensure that I was a candidate for the operation. Clarity is very thorough with their testing which is always comforting for the client especially when dealing with your eyes. Clarity explained the pros and cons to both kinds of surgeries to ensure that their clients are making the best decision for themselves. Someone was always available to answer any questions and Dr. Al-Ghoul is very talented at his profession. Alaina is great to deal with and she really went above and beyond every step of the way to help me. I do not have one negative thing to say about the process at Clarity and my vision is perfect. This will be long, and I apologize. Choosing to have your eyes worked on can be a very stressful decision, so I'll break down how my experience was so that hopefully if whoever is reading this is on the edge about going to Clarity this will help you choose. I had my eye surgery on August 11, 2021 and my Clarity experience has been amazing. When I decided I had finally had enough of wearing glasses I began looking around for eye surgery centres. I asked all my friends that had operations where they had gone and what their experience was, googled high and low, and finally decided on Clarity. Quite honestly I decided on Clarity based off of the reviews of strangers, I hadn't had any friends come through Clarity. The biggest difference I found between Clarity and the other major eye surgery centers was the reviews. And I don't mean the high star reviews, because there are other places that are well reviewed. What made Clarity stand out was that if you read through the reviews I couldn't find a single one that the staff had not replied to personally. I can't say the same for other places, and that dedication got me in the door. There's 3 main interactions, eye testing day, the operation consult, and the operation itself. Test day is a breeze. The very helpful staff made all of the testing very comfortable and very unconcerning (which is great, because if I remember right all the tests take about 2 hours). If you're nervous with all the tests, ask questions! I loved asking what all the tests were for, the staff were very good and explaining what was happening. Eyes are fascinating! Consult day is very relaxed. The nice lady that worked with me was amazing. Very simply explained what each of the operations are and what they could entail. I originally wanted just the basic LASIK surgery that you always hear about but ended up being counselled to go with touchless PRK because it would suit my active lifestyle better and I don't regret anything. And then finally there's the actual day of the operation. Up until this point, I hadn't actually ever met Dr. Al-Ghoul and since I'm sharing that made me a little nervous but as soon as I met him that all went away. Before the operation he personally does a few tests to make sure that the support staff had everything right and all of the numbers were exactly the same. If by this point you are still nervous, you won't be. I was around Dr. Al-Ghoul for maybe half an hour, but every moment is impressive. Everything in the way this man carries himself is phenomenal. You just get this sense that he knows exactly what he is doing. Again, ask questions! Learning how everything worked from him was incredible. The actual operation? 10 minutes tops. On a bad day it would take longer to get ice cream from a McDonald's. There's classical music in the background, the whole atmosphere is so calming. I would rather have my eyes operated on again than go to the dentist it is honestly that relaxing of an experience. Post operation is the same tier of treatment the rest of the process is: top quality. Dr Al-Ghoul calls you personally to see how you are doing, and leaves his personal number should you need anything. You go in the day after the operation so the team can double check all is well. Then you go for checkups a week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and (I believe) 1 year after. Currently I can see a little bit better than I could with glasses previously and it's everything I could have ever hoped for. If you skipped to the bottom to find a summary, here you go: every moment of working with the team is amazing. If you are in the market to be able to see better, I could not give a higher recommendation than Clarity and the team within. From the eye exam to post operation will never regret choosing Clarity. 6/5 stars.

In my follow up with Dr. Al-Ghoul, I was again informed I was a candidate for two options and did not feel pressured to choose at that time. They were informative and very helpful with all of my questions. Upon the surgery date, I was very impressed with the professionalism of all staff including the surgeon. Super professional and helpful! They were considerate and answered all of the questions I had. The operation (laser eye surgery) was a little scary of course but very bearable and super fast! Took only 5-10 minutes for the entire surgery. Recovery was... if im going to be honest quite awful. The pain is similar to a tooth ache except its in your EYE! I had troubles sleeping, and pretty much existing. But around day 3-4 it got a lot better. Throughout the months my eyes were pretty dry and sensitive- but I'm around month 7 post op now and I get dry eyes on occasion and have had perfect eyesight since then. Definitely recommend! :)

I would highly recommend Clarity Laser Vision (CLV) to anyone curious about, or looking into refractive eye surgery. I managed to get scheduled in very quickly for surgery, and I am now one week post-surgery and feeling good. The procedure I ended up going with was TSA/custom PRK, and I am very happy so far (although I am still healing). Recovery was a breeze, and I didn't have to take any pain medications at all which I was pleasantly surprised about. I did a lot of research beforehand, and I can really say CLV is top-notch, and has the best staff and technology around. Dr. Al-Ghoul is great. He has a very calm demeanour, and is easy to talk to. Everyone else was wonderful as well...Alaina, Shannon, Dr. Labelle...and I know I am forgetting others, but bottom line...everyone was amazing. I cannot think of one thing I would want to change about my experience, and I would recommend CLV in a heartbeat.

I have had a wonderful experience with Clarity Laser Vision! I recently had PRK surgery with Dr. Al-Ghoul. Prior to the surgery I had two appointments to ensure that I was a good candidate for the procedure. Each time, Dr. Al-Ghoul ensured that I completely understood my options and promptly answered my questions. I feel like he was never in a rush to see another patient or that I was just another person he had to had to see that day. The surgery was completely painless. There was some slight discomfort from the clamp keeping my eyes open, which is completely normal and is expected. The few days after the surgery my eyesight was pretty good. It would get better then worse again as my eyes heal. This is also expected. I rested quite a bit the first 3 days after the surgery. I was able to return to work on the forth day. However, I have been very fortunate to heal quickly. Everyone heals at different rates so some people may take longer. By the end of the first week I was seeing with 20/20 vision. I would definitely recommend Clarity Laser Vision for eye surgery! Thank you Dr. Al-Ghoul!

In surgery, one of the technicians actually placed his hand on my shoulder to help calm me down and through the whole thing Dr. Al-Ghoul was reassuring me and telling me I was doing great. The surgery is uncomfortable, as with any Lasik eye surgery, but to be able to have 20/20 vision the very next day was so awesome after having glasses since Grade 1. I’d love to give this place a 5 start review. I had PRK surgery here and everything went well, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the tests and procedures were extensive and thorough and results were great. My only complaint is that you spend a LOT of time sitting around waiting during each appointment. All my post-op appointments took me about 1.5 hours just to have my eyes looked at for a couple moments and confirm everything was ok. It was really frustrating to spend so much time in the waiting room. If they fixed this problem then they’d certainly deserve 5 stars.

My ophthalmologist gave me several options in Calgary but after discussing all of the options, Dr. Al-Ghoul was the clear choice. His team did plenty of testing to make sure I was a good candidate and when the surgery day was finally here he made sure to explain everything step by step and make sure I was doing well. Did my PRK surgery here, and my eyes are seeing great. They run more tests than LASIK MD, and recommend me a surgery that would suit me better. I have dry eyes, and LASIK puts me at risk of symptoms worsening, so I am very happy that they recommend PRK. Somehow after surgery my right eye is now constantly tearing up but hey, it's not dry anymore LOL

I recently had PRK laser eye surgery here at Clarity. I have to say the experience has been 100% great. I did quite a bit of shopping around (not only on price, but best quality of service). I asked for recommendations by eye doctors in Calgary and even Golden BC, and Doctor Al-Ghoul was the only recommendation. “He IS the best, he’s a Corneal Specialist!” Where to begin - my biggest concern going in for laser correction was if I had to get the dreaded PRK. I had heard these horror stories about friends mentioning it felt as though they had sand or glass in their eyes for a week. This was ABSOLUTELY NOT the case with clarity. It was about an hour of moderate discomfort until I got home for my first set of drops. Once I got those in it was very much minimal discomfort. Dr. Al-Ghoul called that night to ensure everything was going well (and it was). The first night I woke up a few times with sore eyes, but I did my drops then and went back to sleep. The next day I had mild to no discomfort. It was about 2-3 days after that I was seeing quite well and the healing went extremely well. The laser that they use is definitely top of the line, they have invested in the industry leading equipment, and let me tell you that is a massive benefit for everyone that goes with Clarity. The surgery itself is about 3 rounds of eye drops, a little piece that holds the eye open (no discomfort) and a minute of actual “surgery” for PRK. You then get a round of drops and then it’s a quick check up before you go home. Less than a week after I had 20/20 and 20/15 vision. I was worried about dry eyes also, as I dealt with it with my contact lenses especially in the winter. I am very happy to not have to deal with dry painful contact lenses anymore! How is the experience? I met Dr. Al-Ghoul (the surgeon) the first day. At the competition, i wouldn’t be meeting the surgeon until they were walking me in for my procedure which was not comforting. The testing Clarity performs was far more in depth, about 3 or 4 extra checks were done, I was even shown the thickness and relief maps of my eyes and had an in depth explanation of which options I had and why their recommendation was PRK. Testing was approximately double what their competition does, not to mention you also see a second optometrist that Dr. Al-Ghoul verifies everything with prior to surgery (versus an eye technician only with the competition). When it comes to the support staff, Alaina was a phenomenal host. She guided me through the whole process, including explaining the drop regimen, costs and the process. The front staff is extremely kind and was able to work around our varied schedule for follow ups, and meeting with Dr. Al-Ghoul I believe 3 or 4 times altogether was great. He wasn’t in a rush, and I understand why he is regarded as the best in Calgary hands down. To boot he is also just a nice guy. Is it possible to do the surgery somewhere else for less? Yes, it’s possible. Is it in your best interest? I would say no. The competition had no issue recommending a procedure (regular lasik) despite me being on the low side for corneal thickness, they were not forthcoming on the test results and just all around didn’t seem nearly as in depth. I would say you might be paying less but you’re also going with inferior technology, and as my wife found out, their appointments aren’t covered by most health care providers (required for the competitions warrantee). You’ll end up paying the difference if you want to keep your warrantee. I can’t say enough good about my experience with Clarity. They are professional, they are the best at what they do, and they will continue to be my eye doctor going forward. Thank you Clarity team! Now if you can only stop me from feeling like I forgot to take out my contacts every night that would be a bonus ...

I did a bunch of research and read a tonne of reviews when I was thinking about getting laser eye surgery and ultimately chose to go with Clarity. Glad I did! After the extensive evaluation I was told I could do either LASIK or PRK. They ran me through the pros and cons of each and ultimately I went with PRK, despite the longer recovery. It's been almost 8 months from my surgery in February, and I couldn't be happier. The recovery felt fairly long (especially that first week), but every time I was in that office I was well taken care of. Every single staff member was super friendly and pleasant to talk to and all questions/concerns were taken care of. Dr. Al Ghoul himself was great during the procedure too. I did my research and visited 3 clinics including Clarity which was my last stop. If your only concern is cost then Clarity is not for you as they are more expensive than others, but if you want to put your trust in a team committed to getting it done right the first time this is the place to go. The whole experience at Clarity was fantastic. Everyone is friendly, helpful, accommodating, and you get a sense everyone is very knowledgeable and professional. Everything is very well explained, they assess your eyes and health in more detail than the two other clinics I visited. One thing that helped me feel more comfortable was Dr. Al-Ghoul’s experience treating many different types of eye conditions. I felt like if there were complications he would be able to help me instead of being sent to a different Dr or clinic. My prescription was high and at my age have presbyopia so the decision was made to do lens replacement surgery with a multifocal lens. I am 6 weeks post op and couldn’t be happier with my new vision. There are some halos and glare still but it honestly doesn’t bother me, and the trade off for being able to see lens free is a small price to pay. The experience was amazing! I am one week post Lasik surgery and have had an experience that exceeded all expectations. The appointments prior to the surgery where professional. Dr. Al Ghoul and his staff answered all of my questions regarding the procedure and how I would feel and see post surgery. The day of surgery was calm and not rushed. The surgery itself was completely painless and fast! When I sat up from the procedure I could see better then I expected. After 30 minutes in the recovery room, my wife took me for a coffee and a drive! The next morning, 18 hours after the procedure, I was in for a check up and had 20/20 vision and was cleared to drive. The follow up was great and I would recommend this clinic to anyone wanting to have better vision and to be free from glasses and contacts!

This place was fantastic. I was coming from out of town, and they were excellent at accommodating that, putting all my exams on a certain day and booking me later in the day so I had enough time to travel to Calgary. Excellent communication as well, I called them many times with many questions, and always got prompt and informative answers. Dr. Al-Ghoul was amazing. Again, answered any questions I had and had a very calming presence. After my consulation, they gave me a kit of things I would need after surgery, along with detailed instructions on what to do and what to expect after surgery. The surgery itself was very quick, less than 15 minutes. They told me what they were doing the entire time, and I always felt like I was in safe hands. My vision went from not being able to see anything a foot in front of me to better than 20/20. Would 100% reccomend this place.

I have mixed reviews of Clarity. From the testing all the way through to the surgery, the staff were so friendly and helpful, and it made me feel at ease with the procedure. Everything was great! The day after the surgery I went in for the first checkup and they noticed wrinkles on one of the flaps and I was rushed in for a second procedure where they lifted the flap and tried to smooth it out. Was told by the surgeon that he was not sure how this happened (I think he even told me that it was probably my fault), and the feeling was that he was unsure how to correct this or what the effects would be. This left me with blurred vision in that eye. I continued to go back in for checkups and the optometrist was so helpful in explaining what had happened and told me that they are with me until I have 20/20 vision in that eye. All was good! After 3 months with little improvement in my eye, they did further tests and the optometrist was going to make a recommendation to the surgeon regarding my effected eye and told me he would get back to me within a week. Almost 2 months later and still have not been contacted. I feel that I have been brushed off and I’m sure they are hoping I just go away (at least that’s my feeling). The service provided to date was not worth the extra premium paid compared to other options. I will probably give it a little while longer before looking at next steps and seeking a second opinion. I would not want anyone else to experience this and hopefully this review will at least make you ask tougher questions when determining this surgeon for your eye surgery.

What a fantastic experience. I am just over 3 weeks post PRK and the results are amazing. My optometrist says my vision was nearly 20/20 after 2 weeks and will only continue to improve over the next 1-6 months. The first few days after PRK are much worse than Lasik, this is the nature of the surgery. BUT not having the flap was, for me, very reassuring. Dr. Al-Ghoul and his team are amazing. They walk you through every step from the first assessment to the post-op visit. During the operation, Dr. Al-Ghoul is a very reassuring and calming presence which made the procedure as enjoyable as it could be. It took a few months for me to decide on Clarity vision over other centres. The main points for me were the lifetime warranty and the touchless service ablation (i.e. no manual manipulation of the eye). This rendered the procedure faster and more precise. After more than 5 years of contemplating laser vision correction, I am absolutely thrilled I did it and would recommend Clarity Laser vision to anyone looking at laser vision correction, you will not be disappointed.

I was very pleased with the experience and the results at Clarity. 20/20 vision after the first week. "Ideal results" is how my optometrist described it after one month. I visited a different doctor's office first, and I did not like the chop-shop feel of it or the dodgy sales tactics. Clarity was more expensive, but I was happy to pay the extra for the additional confidence I felt having them work on my eyes.

I recently had PRK surgery for myopia in both eyes with Clarity Laser and Dr. Al-Ghoul I had several appointments with him and the team before the procedure and at no point did I feel rushed or pressured into making a decision. The consultation meeting with Dr. Al-Ghoul was very informative, friendly, and professional. My recovery time has been as expected; about 20/40 in both eyes 7 days post op with fluctuations in vision, all of which are expected with PRK. The procedure itself was painless and I was quite surprised that I didn't experience any dry eyes and only very minimal discomfort for the first 2 days. Also, pre-op, my diopters in both eyes were quite high (-7.0) so I was quite impressed with the results so far. I recently had PRK done at Clarity and was quite impressed with not only the results, but the process. I had 2 thorough consultations done to see if I was even a candidate for a procedure, and when I met with Dr. Al Ghoul, he spent nearly 30 minutes with me answering my questions and explaining why he recommended PRK for me over other procedures. The staff at Clarity was awesome and was really reassuring, as committing to the procedure can be a little intimidating. The surgery itself was quick and painless and Dr. Al Ghoul even called later that night to ensure there were no issues. The recovery was as expected, with discomfort for only a couple of days, and a little bit of light sensitivity for a day or two after that. By the 4th day, I was feeling and seeing much better. I now have 20/20 in both eyes and I am happy with the results. I would recommend Clarity to my own family and friends.

My vision has been terrible all my life, I Honestly cannot remember a time that I have not been in glasses or contact lenses. I consulted with another well known clinic about 6 years ago now. And wasn't sure if I wanted to go ahead with any surgery due to the uncertainty and complexity of my eyes. I've worn glasses/contacts since I was 12. Laser eye surgery was always something I was interested in but was too scared to actually do. My optometrist recommended me of Dr. Al-Ghoul and have mentioned many great things about him and that there was nothing to be nervous about. So I thought I'd go for consult and see what it's all about. I went to my first appointment which was about 3-4 hrs long where I got more than 10 different tests done. After Dr. Al-Ghoul looked at the results, he said I'd be the perfect candidate for Trans- PRK. He answered all the questions and made me feel very comfortable about doing the surgery. The surgery itself took about a minute and it was very easy and pain free. I was pretty nervous at first but Dr. Al-Ghoul and his staff made sure I felt comfortable during the whole procedure. It's been around a week since I've gotten my procedure.. I'm extremely happy with the results and wish I've done it sooner! I just finished my eye surgery with Dr. Al-Ghoul last month, and the whole experience was fantastic. Before seeing Dr. Al-Ghoul, I was told I would have to wait for my vision to get worse before any procedure could be done; this was not the case with Dr. Al-Ghoul. My vision has improved significantly since surgery. I've also got my brother seeing Dr. Al-ghoul now. I was a bit anxious during surgery, and my nerves were put to ease. I was comforted by staff and Dr. Al-Ghoul. I had direct access to Dr. Al-Ghoul's line post-surgery for any concerns, and they were attended to diligently, and I am healing well. I deeply appreciate Alaina, the surgery coordinator, for demonstrating excellent customer care and kindness. She is well organized, knowledgeable and made sure all questions and concerns were answered. At the recommendation of my optometrist and a good friend of mine, I went to Clarity and I am extremely satisfied with the service I received there. All the staff I interacted with at Clarity and Seema (where some of the testing and appointments were done; both clinics are in the same building) were friendly and never made me feel like I was taking up too much of their time. Their main receptionist, Shannon, was always helpful. Alaina, the surgery coordinator, was very patient in answering my pre/post-op questions via phone and email. The optometrists I saw (Dr. Labelle and Dr. McLaughlin) were also great at offering to answer any questions I had and explained the differences between all my surgical options. And then there's Dr. Al-Ghoul. I was thoroughly impressed with this quietly confident man. He explained his rationale for recommending one option over the other and took the time to answer my questions to my satisfaction. Of the two options he recommended, I never felt pressured to choose one over the other. His calm demeanor was very helpful on both surgery days. He and his surgical team made sure I was comfortable during the surgery and he let me know what he was doing through the surgery. Dr. Al-Ghoul called to check on how my eyes were doing after each surgery and I was provided with his cell phone number for emergencies in the first few days. When I wasn't sure if the blurriness I experienced in one eye 4 days post-op was normal, Shannon me into see Dr. Al-Ghoul that day. It has taken me several years to get up the nerve to finally have laser eye surgery, and at 12 days post-op I am extremely happy with the results. I had gone for a consultation at a different eye clinic last year, but it wasn't until my brother-in-law raved about his experience with Clarity Laser Vision that I started considering it again. I was able to book my first consultation within a couple of weeks and could have gone in for surgery within a month (I opted to wait an extra month until after Christmas). The clinic is modern and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt very well-informed and taken care of throughout the entire process. For several reasons Dr. Al-Ghoul recommended that I go with PRK, so my recovery was definitely longer (which they prepared me for) than that of my brother-in-law, who had Lasik done. While he was out and about and could see perfectly the following day, I stayed hunkered down in darkness taking T3s for the first two days. I asked for more freezing drops at my one day follow-up, which Dr. Al-Ghoul supplied but also said he did not think I would need and he was right - by the third day I felt vast improvement. By day five I felt almost back to normal and probably tried to overdue it a bit too much (phone, computer, tv, etc.) because I did have several days of tension headaches around day eight and nine. I am feeling great now though and am still in awe that I no longer need contacts or glasses. I would definitely recommend Clarity Laser Vision to anyone considering getting laser eye surgery.

Everything is explained clearly and transparent by Alaina. You go for an initial consult followed by your surgery date and then additional follow ups. Dr. Al-Ghoul is also immediately reachable by phone in the two following days should you have any questions. They also have a lifetime guarantee so that if your vision deteriorates at a later date you can go back for additional treatment. 3 weeks post op and seeing very clearly. Best decision I've made.
