La notaire nous a donné des informations douteuses, qu'un planificateur financier a dû nuancer après quelques recherches. Lorsque j'ai mentionné que j'allais consulter des professionnels en finance pour avoir un portrait plus complet, elle est devenue agressive et m'a dit que "j'insultais son éducation". Elle a aussi tenté de me faire sentir coupable en me disant "Mais voyons, n'importe qui serait content de recevoir un tel cadeau en héritage", agissant comme si le fait de poser des questions pour protéger les avoirs de ma proche aînée faisait de moi une personne ingrate et cupide. Suite à mes questions, elle mis fin abruptement à la rencontre et nous a sommées de quitter immédiatement son bureau. Il y a une raison pourquoi il est conseillé de consulter un planificateur financier avant de rencontrer un notaire pour les testaments concernant un héritage au-dessus d'une certaine valeur. Cette personne n'est pas fiscaliste, mais elle a accusé mon équipe financière de me donner de faux renseignements, et nous a découragées de solliciter l'avis de professionnels de la finance. J'en suis ressortie avec l'impression suivante: cet endroit offre des prix raisonnables, mais la notaire ne tolère pas les questions et préfère produire un document générique, sans avoir à modifier quoi que ce soit selon votre situation particulière. Si vous voulez un document simple et que vous êtes prêts à garder le silence et considérer tout ce qu'elle dit comme la parole de Dieu, c'est le bon bureau pour vous. Mais si vous voulez poser des questions, avoir des réponses, et considérer toutes vos options, trouvez un meilleur bureau de notaire. Je ne ferais jamais confiance à cet établissement pour un proche âgé.
