I understand that most people have (in a way) lost their manners since COVID-19 has happened. More enraged people, attitudes and pretty much kindness thrown out the window. I can expect that out in public. However, in a business... that behavior is unacceptable. I went to get some documents certified at this business. Unfortunately for me, when I had gone to my appointment I was greeted by an unprofessional environment. Friendliness was nonexistent in those walls. They handle business like a robotic routine. What kind of person doesn't properly greet a client. The notary just sat in his chair and talked to me through the door about what I'm here for. I didn't realize saying, "Hello, how are you" was an option nowadays. Then he just walks away after when he's done. A good first impression is not a priority here. I felt rushed and unwelcomed. The feeling of "what do you want" and "there signed, now pay and leave" was clear. I can honestly say, I do not recommend this business and I wish I had gone somewhere else. I read another review after my visit, with an experience similar to mine. I wish I had read it sooner. I would've avoided this place had I known. Clearly not your best work and not a mistake that it happened either.

I was very disappointed with the services provided by Grant Sauer Notary Public. I originally chose Mr. Sauer’s services due to his high rating on Google and his office being local. My appointment to sign papers for a mortgage was cancelled twice due to "so many closings" and my paper work not being a priority. Once an appointment was finally upheld and I arrived at the office, I felt immediately unwelcome. As I started reviewing the paperwork, Mr. Sauer said "Oh, you’re one of those people..." in regards to me wanting to read through the documents. I was completely taken aback by Mr. Sauer's rudeness. I also asked for my property taxes not to be paid through my mortgage (indicated this in the paperwork and verbally told Mr. Sauer of my wishes) and asked to pay via credit card for Mr. Sauer's services. Mr. Sauer said that he didn't have time to have me pay via credit card and that I had to pay through my mortgage. At this point, I just wanted to leave his office as I felt completely rushed and unappreciated as a client. To top it all off, the paperwork filed by Mr. Sauer was not completed correctly and my property taxes ended up going through on the mortgage. I do not recommend using Grant Sauer Notary Public.

Sometimes when things sounds too good to be true, they really are. I went with Grant Sauer because if I'm being honest, I was quoted the cheapest price for my condo sale completion. I figured it's a simple process, don't need anything fancy so let's go with it (and someone had referred them on Facebook so I didn't read Google reviews in advance). Well... when I went to sign my documents the other day I was less than impressed when I was given a total price of $200 higher than I was quoted (which I had in email form). The explanation I got from Grant was "That fee came into effect this week and there's nothing we can do about it". To which I said... "shouldn't I have at least been notified of that in advance?". Literally no explanation for that. Then he went on to discuss how a check payment would be made. I explained I wanted the funds deposited into my account and I had already explained that to the woman handling my file when she TOLD ME that that's how they do it and I'd need to submit my banking info - which I did, via email. So obviously Grant wasn't provided that information prior to our meeting. Then he tells me they charge $50 to deposit into my bank. At that point I was baffled... another hidden fee? He seemed annoyed at that point so said they'd waive it. I'd say I appreciate that but it was a fee I was never told about/quoted prior so why should have I had to pay for it? You don't go to Costco, get to the till and they say "oh that'll be another $50 if you want me to scan your items". They know you're in a "no choice" position at this point so they likely keep these hidden fees to get people in the door. Then, like another woman said in her review, they email me asking for me to submit a review. Well... here's your review. Would I recommend? No!

I did not know that mortgage closing was this easy until I have been to Grant Sauer. Larissa was awesome with organizing my documents and booking in the appointments, Grant Sauer Murray was very professional and thorough with my paperwork. It took just over 15 minutes for the entire detailing and signatures but I am not sure how much time it took for them to get everything compiled before I get there. I highly recommend this place for your seamless mortgage closings.

The team was friendly and professional. They answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable with them handling my documents. The documents were provided to them electronically from an out of town office and they had everything prepared for my arrival and I was in and out of the office in less than 10 minutes. We had a terrible experience with this business. Our realtor suggested to use G.S. notary to close the purchase of our apt. About a month before the closing date, we contacted them and asked for their fees and taxes just to be prepared. We sent 3 emails and they never responded. On the day of closing, I joined the meeting via Zoom and my mother and our realtor were in the office. It was during the worst part of the pandemic in BC and Sauer was maskless when my mother arrived in his small office. When he finally put a mask on, he insisted that both guests move closer to him than the suggested 6ft, and his mask kept falling down uncovering his nose. Minutes after our meeting was over we received an email confirmation from his office that our file is complete and we were asked to write a positive review for them. We decided not to follow his request. 5 weeks after closing, we unexpectedly received an email from G.S. asking for a huge amount of money saying that his office made a mistake. We said that we could not pay thousands of dollars without receiving proper documentation of the mistake. We also pointed out that we would have to find time to look over the new documents and there would need to be another closing meeting. At that point he started threatening us. He never agreed to do another closing and he did not agree to work with another lawyer that we trust. In addition to the documentation of the error, we asked to be compensated for our time and the inconvenience and for him to waive his fees. Via email he responded to these requests: "We can do all of this for you". Then he arranged for a Zoom meeting to answer our questions, and we agreed to this meeting only because he promised to provide everything that we asked for. During the meeting, he was rude and inappropriate. We asked questions about specific numbers in the document and he gave a quick and wrong response. When we pointed out that the numbers do not add up, he said: "You do not need to know this, it is correct because I am telling you!" After over an hour of irrelevant information that we did not ask for he agreed to wave his fees. We told him once again that we should be compensated for our time, inconvenience and all the unnecessary stress that he caused, and like every other customer we have the right to be done with the process that we paid for on closing day. Even though he had previously agreed to some compensation, he did not provide an exact amount and wanted to negotiate! So he scheduled another meeting to agree on an amount for compensating us. On the day of the second meeting he changed the time of the meeting without checking with us or even apologizing. We could not make that new time. Next, he gave our contact information to another person (without our permission) who emailed us saying they were Sauer's lawyer and were asked by Sauer to collect the money from us. We sent the amount they were demanding minus the fees that we had already been charged for a job that was not done properly. We also deducted the same amount as compensation with the logic that we spent more time than they did reviewing all the documents and checking all the calculations carefully. Honestly, we did a more thorough job than this "Notary Office" did. Grant Sauer is not a professional. He does not care about his clients' satisfaction. He is rude and inconsiderate. He is very comfortable lying and denying his own words. He has not learned that he has to accept responsibilities for his mistakes. He chooses to bully rather than listen and reason. Almost four months after the closing, and after we paid his office a substantial additional amount of money after receiving threat after threat, we are still being harassed by Sauer and his people. The closing of an apartment should be a simple and straightforward process and Sauer made this so unnecessarily complicated both for his lack of professional skills and customer care.

Grants office was able to not just help us, but to also get us through a few bumps in the road we came across with our builder last minute.
