Fairly good place to read and study.

A guy was drinking alcohol in here and tried to get in a fight with me. I hate to say it, but it's more of a bum hangout than anything to me. I don't think I'll be returning, which is a shame because it's actually a pretty nice place!

The staff are always helpful and willing to give suggestions, lots of space to study. Being on the lower level doesn't feel like being in a basement with the big windows.

Kelly Margaret Milne Henry

A little library that serves many purposes to the local community and to the tourists.

Sarah Lyver

Nice place, nice staff (super polite), always something new to see and to do :)

I love this building and the facilities available however the noise level makes it difficult to study or read in, which is frustrating since its a library, and one of its functions is providing that. People speak loudly in the stacks, groups gather to socialize, programs are run that would be better suited to a community hall- although they are pretty great programs, this isn't the venue. Laugh and play in the places that are rich with that, and respect the quiet for those places which are built for it is my thoughts.

staffs are kind and helpful .

Always a pleasant experience. Very helpful staff, and a, for me, very convenient location.

Makes use of wordplay and puns such as "email" and "wifi" and "device" in an attempt to prove that she is not, well you know what, while simultaneously employing underhanded mean tactics. Seems to believe in instructively "directing" you about what one might assume is more than commonsensical, such as the idea that you may need to go to another corner of the room to complete your tasks after done scanning.

I have had mostly positive experiences at this location. Most employees are courteous and helpful, yet others boorish in manner. Some employees can be downright nasty, as is the case of a person who wears his hair in a bun, is chubby, has a beard, effeminate -sorry, never got his name-. He was curt, downright nasty to me, so I was not a happy camper. I have seen him be extremely solicitous when serving a young good looking hoodlum the other day. This morning I was served by an employee who was helpful, but reminded me of a drill sergeant as she attached the word "sir" to every sentence when addressing me. Cold as ice! Of course I counteracted with "Ma'am" to finish every sentence. Sorry about the rant but I was extremely annoyed. Bemused, yet amused. :/ Gorgeous building, though!

Horrible location with lack of security and not functional elevator for more than a month. Full of drug users and shady people, more like hellhole, than library. Avoid at all costs.

A great library, but more importantly, a well preserved bit of history. The building is over 100 years old, and is well looked after.

Danielle Peattie-Carrier

Curtis is amazing! Great service. Wish there was more YA selection here tho!

Nicole Is Aulotta Faithful

Very good and many options like books, movies, and more but I wish there were more Spanish books. Not to many options in Spanish. But definitely I like this library.

Rachel McGrath

Beautiful building & the staff is great, I usually never have to wait long for a computer & they have great free classes that folks can take with a library card.

Niko Wilson

It's a place for drug dealers, gangs, etc. a very small % of kosher people come in here, and others who were chased away by these hoodlums. If you study, want to read, or come in with children you will not stay long. These unsavory people come in groups, they use profanity continuously, they are very loud. and take over the library completely. The staff totally ignores these people, never steps up to quiet them down or otherwise., they could not care less. This place has become a drug den gathering for derelicts. Management is non-existent, there is no security and it has become a very dangerous place, if you frequent it it will be at your own risk.

Really helpful and friendly staff. They keep the place very well organized so it’s not too difficult to find what you’re looking for. I love to come here with my kid and take advantage of the free wifi or one of the kids programs. We especially like the different programs they run during the summer. It’s so nice to have an option for keeping your kids busy and entertained without having one more thing to pay for. Wheelchair accessible. Public washrooms and water fountains available. After hours book drop located on the outside of the building.

It is a decent library. But, they city/manager and librarians have lost control of the library to the homeless. Many maskless, food eating and belligerent homeless people loitering are crouding out your average patron. The staff nolonget even make a token attempt to correct the situation.

Alexey Baldygin

A good one better than downtown library

The Strathcona branch is a community resource, serving a wide variety of people. All my experiences there have been very good. The staff is unfailingly courteous and helpful.

Awesome place! I put all my books on hold, walk my dog to the library and tie her at the bike racks, and can run in and check out the books in under 60 seconds. It's a nice place to sit and relax downstairs as well.

The new renovations are lovely

If you require a quiet place to work or study go downstairs. Upstairs can be quiet noisy with screaming kids running around. More like a daycare than a library. In addition, the upstairs room seems to attract people who like to talk loudly to each other rather hold conversations at a more subdued level to accommodate study or quiet contemplation over a book.

Adam Dixon

Fantastic little library in the heart of the commercial district of Old Strathcona. Great selection of children’s books and activities in both the main floor and upstairs. Knowledgeable and professional staff make you feel welcome.

I love this little library. It's a beautiful old building and a great location. The staff are always friendly and helpful. What's not to like?

It's a pleasure to visit it, sit around in the quiet and read. They have computers and if you are a student you can use them for as long as you need.
