Terrible service! Real-estate transaction was supposed to close today. Have not heard from the office in 4 days. I phoned, and the assistant said that they would contact me promptly. Getting towards the end of business day on the closing date, and they still will not respond to emails or phone calls. Completely unprepared and unprofessional. I am now paying mortgage interest, and for insurance on a property and this notary does not have the decency to respond to emails or phone calls.

My wife and I just purchased a new home and we used PME Inter Notaires as our notary. We had two interactions with them and both were unprofessional. First, our closing date was September 10th, we arrive on the 10th to find out that the sellers wouldn't be signing until the 14th. We weren't informed before hand. My wife and I had planned to have the internet installed that weekend (on the 11th) and planned to clean the house all weekend. I'm giving two stars because the notary, Patrick, went out of his way to contact the sellers to see if they would give us access to the house for the weekend. Our second interaction came today, the 15th. I emailed the notary's assistant and asked if the keys were ready for pick up. They informed me they were. My wife went to go pick up the keys and had to wait 30 minutes for the front desk to figure out to ask my wife what her maiden name is. All in all I am displeased with the lack of communication. I am pleased with the work the notary (Patrick) did.

Never again! Mistake after mistake is what we experienced with this company. Best guess is that this was due to a lack of clear communications between themselves and then with us, which resulted in a number of situations where we encountered a lot of duplication of efforts from our end, we were unsure what were the next steps, some mistakes in the financial documents they provided, etc. My disappointment was re-enforced even further when I politely approached the lead notary handling our real estate transaction to calmly ask what had happened and why all these mistakes? This individual closed the door to our meeting room, it seemed like he wanted to avoid other clients or colleagues sitting outside the room hearing me provide some negative perspectives and crudely stated they did nothing wrong, not even acknowledging their mistakes, instead denying it and taking a position of annoyance and ill will. They didn't make any mistakes and I was mistaken. My mistake was to do business with them...

We had a very difficult experience with this notary. They were referred to me by my realtor. A few things stood out to me as strange; 1) They originally asked for the money a week in advance. When I said no, they agreed to accept the money for the house no later then 48 hours in advance, because they told me it needed time to clear their bank account. When I had previously bought houses the money was either paid the day before or on the day of closing. I was uncomfortable with paying in advance. 2) The sellers did not provide documentation related to the property which they had stated in a declaration that they had in their possession. The notary told me they would request the documents. The notary didn't request the documents and in the end I had to pay extra title insurance as a result. I found all of this information out on the day of closing. 3) On the day of closing, the notary realized they made a mistake in the deed of sale. On Friday at noon, we were summoned to the notaries office to re-sign the paperwork for the sale. We both left our full time jobs unattended to re-sign one page of the deed of sale, and when we arrived ended up waiting about half an hour for the notary to show up with the document. That day, I left a meeting at my job on the other side of town, spent an hour driving across town and subsequently missed a later meeting as a result of this error. It was a real hassle and a real frustration when we sat in their office for half an hour waiting to sign one sheet of paper. 4) On the day of closing, the notary provided us with absolutely no paperwork regarding our house purchase. They told us that we would receive the paperwork within two weeks via mail. We have yet to receive anything from them and have had to follow up with them to receive the paperwork for the deal. Overall the people we dealt with were courteous and nice, but my expectations were not met.

As mentioned by many in these reviews, I had a terrible experience as well. I can see most people had a similar issue as me with the closing and funds. I wish I saw their reviews before dealing with PME Notary. I have never left a 1 star review but I guess there is a first for everything. This was the worst professional experience in my life. No exaggeration... I spent 3 hours waiting in the parking lot to receive my funds because I had no trust in their communication. I had originally done my closing on Friday and emphasized how important it was to receive my funds by Tuesday so I can use it for my new purchase. I tried reaching out multiple times on Monday and Tuesday with no luck in reaching my agent. I was able to get a hold of the receptionist at one point and she was quite rude. I was trying to get her to find my agent and tell her I need to speak to her urgently. The receptionist's response was "that's not the way we do things around here, you have to leave a voicemail". Even though I had already made it clear that I left voicemails and haven't heard back yet. After a lot of frustration all through Tuesday and still not hearing back from my agent. Wednesday was approaching and I wasn't sure what I should do. Luckily I remembered that someone from the office had previously texted me from their cell phone when they weren't able to get a hold of me (which I found pleasantly ironic). I ended up messaging them Tuesday evening and lucky for me, it was my agent's personal number! After some discussion that evening she had reassured me the sale would be registered Wednesday morning. I told her I would be up extra early and waiting for her call. Next morning I tried to call and as usual no response on the office number so I tried texting her. I waited about 45 mins and still didn't get a respond to my text so I decided to take matters into my own hands, drive over and wait for results. Once I informed her I was on my way, it was a matter of minutes for me to get a response. I have attached the texts from that morning so you can judge. Last thing I will say is once all this was taken care of and I received the cheque, I still had to go certify it at their bank because they choose not to waste time certifying cheques for their customers. I will never return to their notary and swear I will warn anyone to STAY AWAY every chance I get.

Extremely expensive for poor services. All the documents are being handled by overwhelmed clerks that given the situation will do often mistakes. The Notaries there are simply taking the documents, reviewing and signing for a hefty fee. Ours had mistakes in it and they forgot to make us sign a document. Stay away. Didn't have the choice since the buyer chose them. Cost me less notary fees to buy with another one than these guys.

We did a transaction with Joseph Gorman back in May 2021 on a land closing on the Quebec side. He said the documents will be mailed out and we should received them within a week. Well, it's almost August 2021, and we haven't received anything. Money has been taken, unanswered emails and voicemails. Whenever you called him, it goes straight to his voicemail. We don't even know if we own the land or not as the municipal still has the previous owner names on file when we went to apply for permits. Updated August 1, 2021: Jospeh Gorman contacted my husband the next day after a Facebook posting (July 29), and we were able to receive our documents right away. It's too bad this was how business was conducted in order to get the problem resolved.

Je n'ai pas accepté ces frais injustifiés et j'ai refusé de signer. Notaire gorman m'a cavalièrement déclaré : 'Pas de signature , pas de contrat , pas de vente ' alors étant forcé , J'ai signé . Après avoir reçu mes documents , J'ai fait une demande de remboursement , mais sans réponse .J'ai ouvert un dossier à la cour des petites créances . C'est le seul language que ce notaire comprends . J'ai été remboursé au complet !

Incredibly bad service. Unprofessional and frustrating to deal with. Notary and staff out of sync. Very ignorant - it takes at least 5-10 phone calls/emails to get any (mis)information. Even if they reply back to you, it’s just broken promise after broken promise. List of things that went wrong from day 1 is too long to post it here. Never had such a bad experience with any other business before.

Most importantly, the initial Notary involved with our file did not complete our refinance transaction on time, despite being informed that we required the funds to close on another purchase. He claimed that the bank did not send him mortgage instructions, despite there being an electronic record of the instructions being sent 9 days prior to closing. After the closing deadline passed, a different Notary was assigned to our file and when we inquired about signing closing documents by video conference, since we live out of town, they informed us that it would cost an additional $250 to do so. Lastly, when the transaction closed and the funds were deposited into our account, we learned that there was a hold of 5 business days placed on the funds because the funds were not certified before deposit. This despite informing them that we needed access to the funds. I would not use this law firm again nor would I recommend them to others, especially when there other competent notaries available.

The service we received from Mr. Gorman was totally unacceptable. He was non-responsive to multiple emails wherein we were simply contacting him to figure out the process and what the next steps were considering the closing date was to be advanced. He also lied to us that he contacted the sellers to obtain the necessary documents when he had, in fact, not done so (confirmed with the sellers). Admittedly, he did reduce our bill slightly and eventually apologized for the service but at the end of the day we paid over $3000 even with the reduction for a $225,000 transaction. Part of the reason was a bank error which caused two mortgages to appear on title but much of this can be attributed to Mr. Gorman not taking our file seriously and not communicating appropriately. His counterparts Katherine Lauzon and Aimee Desrochers were much better. I believe Mr. Gorman is competent but likely either overworked or disorganized. Take your business elsewhere.

However, we had the opportunity to observe that in the corridors, the atmosphere is more of a joke between colleagues. This would also explain the reason for the long-awaited returns of calls and the errors in the processing of files. This firm inspires a false sense of "confidence" and "professionalism" in buyers with little experience in the field. Un des notaires a même préféré lire l'acte en diagonale (en moins de 2 minutes) préférant qu’on le lise nous-mêmes pendant que ce dernier regardait son Facebook sur son cellulaire devant nous. Cela traduit un manque flagrant de professionnalisme. Surtout vu le fait que plusieurs informations étaient erronées dans l'acte. Nous avons eu cependant l'occasion de constater que dans les corridors, l'ambiance est plus à la blague entre collègues. Ce qui expliquerait d'ailleurs la raison des retours d'appels qui se font attendre et les erreurs dans le traitement des dossiers. Cette firme inspire un faux sentiment de "confiance" et de "professionnalisme" aux acheteurs ayant peu d'expérience dans le domaine.

Worse service ever! First a person was dealing with our file then she went away on vacation and the person who took over our file assumed we would be getting our keys the day before the move, without reading the file. After changing our time with the movers, I called back to confirm the pick up time for the keys, only to find out we were now getting them the day of the move so we had to change the day/time for the movers again. Then on the day of the move, we get to our house but no keys to be found. We then find out our keys are at the notary since the day before and no one ever called us to let us know, not even our real estate agent knew. By the time we arrived at the house and had to go get the keys, we wasted 3 hours with the movers! Been trying to get in contact with the notary since to get compensated for the 3 hours we had to pay because of their lack of service. It's been a month and have only spoken to them once to tell them about the situation. I've been calling and leaving messages but no one answers or calls back.

We dealt with them for the sale of vacant lots. First off, we had to explain to them the difference between a "certificat de localisation" and a "plan de piquetage" as well as "plan d'implantation". 2nd, We had to research and call many land surveyors ourselves to inquire about the necessities of providing a "plan de piquetage" given that our promise to purchase document stated a "certificat de localisation " which by the way doesn't apply to vacant lots (there is nothing on the lots so nothing to indicate on it). They still said, we needed to provide a "plan de piquetage" because "certificat de localisation " was indicated in the purchase promise?!?! If you haven't figured it out, that makes no sense! We had no obligations by law to give a "plan de piquetage or plan d'implantation " as this is not specifically indicated in the legal binding document! Although all other notaries and land surveyors agreed with us, aPME notaires still kept saying we needed to provide a "plan de piquetage", which based on all our other conversations with the buyers own surveyor and our usual notary, this was to be at the charge of the buyer. As a CPA, I am appalled that such behavior and lack of knowledge almost led us to lose the sale and that we, as seller, had to pay for a bank requirement OF THE BUYER!!! I will surely tell everyone NOT TO EVER GO WITH PME NOTAIRES, SINCE THEY ARE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE in their own area of expertise!!!
