This review is based on my experience with Lexium Notaries whom I engaged for real-estate transactions in 2020. I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so to save others the trouble I experienced! The general state of disarray and lack of professionalism demonstrated by this firm in my dealings with them goes beyond anything I have ever experienced. Below is a brief accounting of the significant challenges I encountered. POTENTIALLY COSTLY ADMINISTRATIVE ERRORS - The firm misplaced the hard copy of my land survey which I had dropped off at their office as directed, leading them to order a new land survey at the cost of $2,000 (hold back) - this was eventually reversed but would have been charged to me if I hadn't noticed and insisted this was their error - I even needed to get my real-estate agent involved in the dispute. Even after the dispute was resolved, the number of times administrative staff continued to reference the "missing land survey" was laughable. LACK OF CLIENT CARE AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS - Emails were routinely ignored by both the notaries and administrative staff. Be prepared to follow-up by email and phone numerous times, and to advocate for yourself or you may well fall through the cracks of their utterly ineffectual administrative systems. Just one example: I emailed administrative staff requesting a signing date and time that suited my busy schedule. They ignore my requests. When I finally got through to someone by phone my preferred date was unavailable so I rearranged my schedule to make their time work. They then went on to change the meeting time twice more due to their errors in double booking. Then, to add a further surprise the notary I had hired actually went in vacation and didn't inform me I would be meeting with another. Courteous, prompt and professional communication is not something one can expect from this firm, clearly. ERRORS IN PAPERWORK - Draft paperwork for property sale included errors in the address and two errors on statement of dispersment. The address error was still present on the paperwork on signing day! LACK OF PROPER PROTOCOL - On signing day for my property sale the notary failed to check my ID and appeared genuinely baffled when he looked through my file. It seems that his administrators had prepared the wrong file...yet another miscommunication. This did not inspire my confidence. CONTRACTUALLY REQUIRED PAPERWORK NIGHTMARE TO GAIN ACCESS TO - Although I had requested both verbally and in an email to recieve my realestate documents in print form (which was an option presented to me), I was still sent a link to download the electronic file. BUT they failed to send me a password to retrieve the files from their system. I requested the password several times but was never sent it. So, I reverted to my request for a print file. When, more than a month later I was finally informed it was ready for pick-up, it was incomplete! Statement of disbursement; statement if tax adjustments; signed contract and mortage documentation were all missing. The administrator was again very confused and insisted the file was "complete." I followed up with two of the notaries before finally being sent the files by email but with no apology or humility expressed. It took me 1.5 months to get the documents that were contractually owed to me and had I not followed up and insisted they be sent, I am quite sure I'd never have recieved them given their computer system indicated files had been "picked-up." I did try to offer some costructive feedback in person and was told they are backlogged snd are having administrative challenges due to "all their success." But in my opinion this "success" can be very shortlived if you fail to extend professional courtesy to your clients; fail to ensure proper quality control ; and to meet contractual obligations in a timely fashion.
If i were able to give them 0 stars i defiantly would. I want to warn any one who is thinking of obtaining any services from them not to. you will save your self from a HUGE headache and disaster followed by chaos. If you do end up dealing with them your going to face your self with a staff that constantly lies, and plays the blame game. First when i called to confirm my apt and the address the lady on the phone gave me the wrong location instead of the hull office she made me drive an hour and half out of town. when i called them to let them know i might be late cause its sooooo far away she told me that the apt is actually at the hull location and that i would have to book another apt and call the hull office. Even thought the closing date for my house was that day. They tell me this once im 5 min away from there office after i called them that morning to make sure everything was good to go. then the blame comes in and the girl refuses to acwklodge her mistake and blame it on her lack of english. You would think thats the only thing but wait there is more, after leaving the meeting we told the office to make sure that they pay a bill through the house of the sale. of course they did not do so. They tried to put the blame on us saying we never told them not to pay the bill which is a complete and total lie i have emails to prove it. Just own up to your mistake. its simple you were suppose to do something and you didn't there is nothing more or nothing less. There is no sense of organization with both of there locations, i've never had to deal with such incompetent staff. Plain and simple this is a law firm that loves to lie straight to your face, and refuse to own up to any of their mistakes. it scares me that this law firm is so reckless especially when dealing with such big transactions and legal documents. TRUST ME AND STAY AWAY, you will not regret choosing another office.
(Translated) Impeccable service and the notary was able to accommodate me once the situation was explained. Did everything to be helpful under the circumstances by being quick and efficient. A relationship that is both professional and warm. Thank you so much ! (Original) Service impeccable et dont la notaire a su m'accommoder une fois la situation expliquée. (Translated) We bought a house a few years ago and Mr. Jean Paquin was the notary responsible for the file. When we met for the signing of the documents, he transferred a certificate of location from the vendors to us. When we asked questions he was unfriendly and not very professional. Recently we sold our house and we dealt with another lawyer for the sale of the house. We were then surprised to be informed that the certificate of location that Mr. Paquin had sent us was in fact a copy and not the true original and that we had to obtain a compliant certificate of location at our expense. We never received the certified copy of the certificate of location from Mr. Paquin although it was his responsibility to provide us with this document. We have tried to contact Mr. Paquin on numerous occasions and we were only able to speak with his secretary after numerous phones and messages without receiving a callback. She told us that it was possible that the conforming certificate was in their archives but that we had to pay to do the research. We then asked to speak directly with Mr. Paquin. The secretary told us that he was too busy and that if he took the time to talk to us he should charge us fees. When I mentioned that we were not interested in paying fees to settle a professional misconduct of Mr. Paquin the secretary specified that she was only repeating what Mr. Paquin had asked her to send us as a message. I asked the secretary to inform Mr. Paquin that we expected him to phone us to explain his point of view and to find a solution and she mentioned that she would send the message to Mr. Paquin. We never received a return call ... I certainly do not recommend the services of Mr. Paquin as a notary.
