I worked with Thomas Stollman to buy my home. He was near impossible to reach and, in the off chance I did reach him, it was clear that he felt my having questions was a burden. The final straw was when I travelled 600kms on closing day to arrive punctually for a meeting and he was 20 minutes late to a 30 minute meeting. I'm also a glorified consultant and if I or anyone one my team treated a client the way I was treated, I would be embarrassed.

We bought a house through this company. It was horrible experience. A bad and rud communication. I know that buying a house it's always stress, but you always pay to lawyer for a service, to exclude a stress, but I got rudeness. And Everything was done in a last minute. Really in the last minute. Even seller's lawyer gave us more consultation than our lawyer. Unprofessional at all. The clossing day was in September and I still waiting documents for the house( today January 4). Now they are saying that they FORGOT to include mortgage broker's fees- 1500$ to closing costs which we never saw in documents.

For the most part I'm not dissatisfied with the work, but they lost my copy of the documents in the mail. I ended up with a photocopied file for my records, but I have no way of knowing if there were any additional documents from the builder that I was supposed to get that were lost. ... like the blueprints to my house. I would have gladly paid the price of mailing the documents with a tracking number, or picked them up in person, rather than having to spend much more time and money to request them from the city later. And yes, I did not find out that I should have gotten these documents from my lawyer until much later.

We sold both of our individually owned condos and purchased a house together. The process was rushed and last minute. My poorly attired, bottle blond, middle aged female lawyer was inept, rude, and disrespectful towards me. For the final signing of documents, her male boss ignored me while happily only looking and speaking to my (white) husband. It got to the point my husband was so uncomfortable with receiving all his undivided attention that he told the lawyer, "This is her condo not mine. You really should address her and not ignore her". He continued to ignore me. She paid so little attention to details, that she placed both of our names on the sale of MY condo. I reiterated to her verbally twice that I was the sole owner of my condo and she promised to rectify this issue. However, she still managed to place both of us as " joint owners" of MY condo. It took an inordinate amount of time to receive the documents which once again had her mistake of joint ownership on them. I contacted the paralegal and requested the document be amended to reflect the reality of my sole ownership of my condo but never received a response. Given that I had already paid for her "legal services" and never received the correct legal documents for MY condo...I am left unimpressed. The document has yet to be rectified and it's been over 1 year. She never even so much as apologized for her erroneous "joint ownership" that kept repeating itself for MY condo. She kept using the pandemic as an excuse for the extreme lateness and errors but considering it was 2019 and well before the pandemic had started --- that excuse does not hold up as remotely valid. It's 2021, one would hope that a corpulent, middle aged female lawyer of all people would realize that a university educated, BIPOC, professional woman can work and purchase for her condo independently.

I would not recommend this law firm. Documents were prepared incorrectly, and not corrected once errors were identified. In addition, several members of the staff spent their efforts engaging the wrong people during signing appointments, leaving me to believe they either did not bother to inform themselves before sitting down with us, or were more comfortable having a conversation with me than my wife, who is a minority, even when it was her property (that I had zero interest in) that signatures were for. This behavior continued even after I pointed it out. The firm was not responsive to our efforts, and a year later, I am still listed on documents for a property I did not own.

After a rocky start with one of the office staff, my wife and I had a fantastic experience with Rob Hall. He went above and beyond to accommodate us when I can time to sign our paperwork and he took the time we needed to understand all of the new documents and requirements since our last home purchase. Rob also took the time to follow up with the other lawyer's office after our purchased closed concerning a minor issue that came up. I would highly recommend Rob Hall to anyone making a home purchase or sale.

I would highly recommend David Leith as your lawyer if you are purchasing or selling a house. We went with David (at Farber Robillard Leith LLP) for all legal services to both close the sale and purchase of our townhouse and new house. David was professional, thorough and explained all of our paperwork in detail. His office staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We ended up requesting to close one week earlier (during the busiest season) and his office was able to accommodate the change in date, which I am sure meant switching out a lot of paperwork for our mortgage. The transactions with David were smooth, he was always so quick to respond to any questions we had and guided us with ease through the purchase/sell details.

Hired Mr Leith for the purchase of our first house. He made us sign the paperwork in the morning with the first quoted interest rate while we new that the interest rate was likely to go down on our closing date. He told us that this wasn’t a big deal as we could simply amend the interest rate after the fact. At the end of the same day we went back to him with the updated interest rate and he was suddenly all annoyed, telling us that interest rates are difficult to change, that the papers were already signed and that there would be additional charges for re-doing all the paper work. ???? Things finally got resolved, thanks to our mortgage broker who took things within her own hands, but seriously, Mr Leith caused us unnecessary stress instead of making the process smooth and helping us. He only answered our emails once, which was when we made our first inquiry to hire him. He then called me right away and appeared to be very nice and professional. But after that initial contact he just disappeared behind his clerk, who was having a autoritarian and condescending tone in her emails. She was bossing us around, was annoyed with our time and schedule constraints, was sending us one-line emails without usual salutations. They seem to forget who the client is here... At the end of the transaction Mr Leith offered his services for the preparation of our will.... Here’s a suggestion: Treat your clients just a little better if you want to retain their business... they’re tons of other lawyers out there !

The closing was a smooth process and his office staff and the transactions were very organized and timely. David's office is also conveniently located in Westboro. Would highly recommend if looking for help with the sale or purchase of your house.

I would not recommend this law firm. They are overloaded with work and they are disorganized. They asked me for a long list of documents just 3 days before closing date. They miss documents for signature (I had to go there twice to sign up)and they mixed up accounts and don't follow instructions.

As a home buyer, we wanted to be as prepared as possible to ensure the closing process goes smoothly. This law firm did not provide us with that experience and actually made it much more stressful leading up to closing day. We felt rushed, stressed out and were blamed for the hiccups/delays leading up to closing day. I do not recommend this firm. The Good - Got the keys on closing day. The Bad – Very responsive to the initial inquiry but once you agree to retain their services, they do not respond to any emails. I finally got hold of the law clerk 4 business days before closing and she was reluctant to schedule the signing appointment because “there were other files on her desk closing the next day or two”. On the morning of our appointment (2 business days before closing), she called me asking if I can re-send my intake form (which I sent 2 months prior)…. Then she called again asking to clarify some information. Then calls a third time to postpone my appointment because of a mix up from my lender’s mortgage instructions and blames the seller’s lawyers for not being prepared. I think it’s very clear they left this to the last minute. Even after we closed, we didn’t hear or receive any documentation from them. Again I had to chase them to obtain the Statement of Adjustments and other relevant documents.

Law clerk was not responsive via email or phone. Our file was passed around to several lawyers. We were even sent other confidential client information (banking info and house purchase info), with no acknowledgement from the lawyers or clerks that they made a mistake. My name was even wrong on a few forms that I signed on the date of closing. Stay away from this office if you can! Horrible experience - would not recommend!

As home buyers, you want to make sure the process is as smooth as possible for closing and make sure you are well prepared. With this law group, we had to deal with a lot of incompetence, always following up and "begging" them to do their jobs on time, and lots of calculation errors in the documents. We finally got the closing done on time but only because we had to constantly find the mistakes in their work and hound them to do things on time. They're also not cheap at all. Would not recommend this firm at all for purchasing/selling transactions.
