This is NOT a review of their services (which are probably fine) but of their availability: probably don't bother if you need a simple signature notarised: I called on July 21 and the next appointment isn't until August 16th. Maybe they just prefer to do lucrative real estate work.

Agree with previous reviewers that rates are lower than others, and disbursement costs are reasonable; however, note that rush fees are $300, and there's a $150 charge for virtual signing. Appreciated the prompt communication, although I wish there had been more direct communication from the notary (emails were mainly with the receptionist). Also appreciated that the job got done on our tight schedule, although I did get an earful about how short a timeline I was giving.

We are saddened to have to leave this review but feel that the public needs to know about the lack of professionalism with this notary office. We made a property purchase and contacted Uptown Notaries to enquire on price. We were quoted a price and approximate disbursements. We chose to hire Uptown and after the subjects were removed from the property our realtor and bank forwarded the instructions and required information. Uptown Notaries sat on this information without reviewing it for a week leading our bank to call us concerned about the timing. We had to call Uptown to place a sense of urgency in needing to get the process going. Uptown told us they don’t open any info or instructions until the first appointment. They essentially blamed us for not advising them what was needed. This was ludicrous as the reason we hire a notary is because we don’t know what we are doing! We rely on them to figure it out and on that instance they failed. We could not have known they chose not to open any information they receive. Moving past that first bad impression we had our first appointment to sign the required documents. We met with Notary Natalya Hanna and while we understood COVID would affect how the meeting was done, we found it very odd and impersonal (really uncomfortable). We were just continually handed documents and were told to sign them with little explanation as to what each document was. We had to try to decipher everything before we signed. This led us to finding a major mistake on the papers. The incorrect sale price was used to calculate all the finances and balances (off by $5000). Essentially everything was incorrect. Natalya immediately blamed our realtor for sending her the wrong numbers, something we have since found incorrect; our realtor made no mistake. In amongst the documents, we also found not one, but two different bills from Uptown Notaries totaling to more than double to original price estimate. At no time did Uptown or Natalya advise us of an increased cost, complexity, nor go over any details of the bills. She simply wanted us to sign them and move on saying it was more complicated than we had told her. We were most taken aback when Notary Natalya Hanna asked us no less than 4 times to sign her incorrectly calculated documents saying she’d fix them later (after we voiced our concerns to her). We cannot fathom how a notary would ask someone to sign something she was made aware was completely wrong (we’re talking legal documents here!). We had to refuse signing. From there things went more downhill as we wished greater clarification on her billing. When asked about details of charges via email she stated “this is what we charge” with absolutely no explanation. We even found a mistake on a bill which she originally denied then blamed on her software. When asking for a discount after being blindsided with a bill double what we had expected and the repeated mistakes, she accused us of making “reactions” just to get a discount. She was completely unable to see how her and her office completely screwed up what should have been a basic transaction. Yes, in the end it worked out and on time, but only because we had to intervene on timing and catch her mistakes. At no time did she apologize for the issues and she completely refused to provide proof of her claim that our realtor made a mistake, not her. It became very clear to us that she attempts to defer blame for any mistake upon others (she cannot accept responsibility for any wrongs). We have since filed a formal complaint with the Notary association and await the result. The only reason our property purchase did not fail is due to the fact we intervened and caught the mistakes made by this office. Had we sat back and did nothing, we would have lost our purchase. You can make your own choice, but we cannot recommend this notary… beware and choose wisely.
