I went for the basic driving test on 25th August and i made a direct mistake of failing by right of way violation initially then after finishing the test the person added 60 points (3 Blind spot & 3 speed increase 32, 33 ,34) ! I felt like the person was simply adding the points too justify their side since by both i made a direct mistake ! It was a bad experience for me !

***Edited to Update: The situation has been resolved, and I have been refunded. If something like this happens to you, just email the General Manager. She's really nice and she'll make sure things get sorted out. Regularly I have no issues with this registry, but I found out today that they made a terrible mistake with the last car I registered, and it cost me about $50 to fix their mistake. I went in on August 20 to register a newly purchased vehicle in my name. I previously had two other vehicles registered under my name (Let's call them vehicles A and B), but I had traded in one of those vehicles (B) for the new vehicle (Vehicle C). I needed the license plate for the vehicle I traded in (B) to be transferred to the new car (C). I gave the registry agent the registration for vehicle B, the one I had traded in, and asked for the plate to be transferred to the new vehicle (C). They said it was no problem, and that I just had to pay a $28.00 fee and provide them with proof of insurance and the bill of sale. No issues with that. I get the new registration for vehicle C, and I think I'm fine. I made sure to ask whether I needed to 'un-register vehicle B,' and they said no, the vehicle will be cancelled on it's own. The agent then said that I didn't need the registration for vehicle B anymore, so I said he could throw it out in that case. Today, I find out that what the agent did instead of putting the plate for vehicle B on the new vehicle, is they cancelled vehicle A (My fiance's car) and put THOSE plates on the new vehicle instead, even though I said that I didn't have vehicle B anymore when I asked for the plates to be moved over. They left vehicle B registered under my name with the original plates. Again, I told them that I didn't have vehicle B anymore (I traded it in for vehicle C), and that's why I needed the plates switched over to vehicle C. This ended up being sorted out, for a fee of course, but I'm still unimpressed that this happened, and that it cost me extra money to fix. The bill of sale for vehicle C literally said that vehicle B was used as a trade-in, so I don't really understand how they could have missed which vehicle I was talking about. I gave them both a bill of sale that said vehicle B was used as a trade-in, as well as the registration for vehicle B when I asked for the plates to be moved over. I never once mentioned vehicle A, so I don't get where the confusion came from. Naturally, this is extremely worrying, because that means that my fiance had been driving an unregistered car with plates registered to another vehicle for over a week, without us knowing. This also means that the new car, ALSO had plates registered for the wrong vehicle on them for over a week. I get that I could have looked more closely at the registration I was given for vehicle C, but I shouldn't have to. I don't know where the miscommunication came from, because, again, I didn't say anything about my fiance's car.

A scary experience with a white blonde/brunette, I hope I never have to experience again. I passed my test here on June 14th, I walked in and said to the lady “hi there I just passed my driving test for the first time and I need my new license” (at the time I had no idea how any of this worked) I’d also like to point out that I handed her my license and asked her “do you need my old one?” And she said “no” She handed me a 3 years drivers abstract and I said “what is this what do I do with this?” She said sign it, so I selected 3 years and did. She then charged me 25 to do so without ever reclassing my license, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ILLEGALLY FOR THE PAST MONTH BECAUSE SHE DID NOT RECLASS ME, I COULDVE GONE TO JAIL OR GOTTEN IMPOUNDED, IM STILL SHAKEN FROM THE THOUGHT... I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER REGISTRY ON THE NORTH TO RENEW MY REGISTRATION AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD IT ON RECORD THAT I PASSED THE TEST BUT I WAS NEVER RECLASSED! THESE PEOPLE ARE SCARY!!

When I first picked up my learners manual the lady was very friendly and nice. When I came back to write the learners test, it was horrible. The computers are right beside the desk so everything talking is so distracting, not to mention when the lady taking my information she messed up my middle name, and didn't ask me about eye colour which she assumed was blue, but are actually green. I do not recommend coming here for anything except getting the learners manual.

I recently did my advanced driving test here (to get my full class 5 license) and it was a great experience! Steven clearly outlined how the road test would work and even gave me some tips about common mistakes before we went out. Everyone is very friendly and helpful at the Strathcona Registry!

Customer service did not even try to help especially the girl with red hair with glasses had a major bad attitude and the guy.They said NO rightaway to service instead of finding an alternative solution or option to the problem.

Worst registry to take your road test at. The surrounding roads are not well maintained, but the examiners expect you to go the speed limit at all times and damage your car. The examiner that I had also showed up late, was disrespectful, and on a power trip.

I visited the registry on a Saturday. Despite being a little bit delinquent on some tickets, the personnel made all the costs, dates and fees I needed to pay very clear. I would recommend anyone who lives in Central Edmonton to visit their Whyte Avenue location. Hannah was helping me and "organised my life" into a new registration folder.

Today I did my driving test at Strathcona Registry: it was very professional and I appreciate the experience. I passed! Before the actual driving started, instructor - Steven briefed me on what are the requirements, what aspects the test will cover, and about commonly made mistakes. He was discrete during the test, and fully explained my mistakes after. Proper amount of criticism, explanation and friendliness. It made me respectful for inspectors job - make our streets safe.

My daughter went for test driver's test. Could not do the test because of a cracked windshield. No where does it say on Alberta Transportations site that you are not allowed a cracked windshield. But, the worst of it was that Strathcona Registry refused to give her $83 back. They cancelled the test but STILL took the money. Will be filing a complaint with Alberta Transportation. Cancelling is one thing but take $83 from a young girl is scummy. This place doesn't deserve even one star.

They work good if you pay them for the services but if the service they provide is free they are not good at all. I took 2 times the driving test and as it is a paid service they were good, nice welcome and good services. I applied with them for Alberta health care; it is a free service and that was not what I expected. For registering in Alberta health care, they forwarded me to other registery office as it is faster???????????? and some months later when I asked for extending my health care they lost it and Alberta health care did not receive anything. They need to be on better services.

I phoned them ahead and inquired about the required documents for road test, and when I arrived there, they had changed their mind. As a result I could not perform the test.

Well, my experience has been bad on two times! The first time, I wanted to apply for a health card for my son and the only guy there was not knowledgeable. Today visited again for driving test and the lady there was very impolite and trying to be smart in everything without listening. Just talking, talking and talking. She didn’t let me do test there, so went to another registry and it went smoothly. I passed the exam too. Not visiting this one ever again.

I would definitely recommend Strathcona Registry if you want to do the knowledge test and the road test too. I want to acknowledge and thank Hannah for being super helpful and friendly. She provided me with all the information I needed and did all that's possible to make me feel welcomed and informed. She also went out of her way to make sure that my application with all the required documents was submitted. Finally, if you want to do any registration paper work, go to strathcona registry and ask for Hannah to help you :)

Professional, polite, well spoken and knowledgeable - that is the most efficient way to describe a woman named Sasha that works at this registry. Her pleasant and helpful demeanor radiates through her voice (I chose to ask questions over the phone regarding dropping from class 2 to a class 3 rather than going in). I also appreciate the extra time she took to be absolutely sure rather than just telling me that it SHOULD be ok to do... and that she reminded me of the MELT program (and it's hefty costs) if we wish to obtain a class 2 license again. Thank you for the excellent customer service, Sasha. You've put a better taste in my mouth than the registry that's closer to our home from one short phone call and that speaks volumes.

This was my neighborhood registry growing up, so I've been going there for years. Despite moving since, I still go out of my way to go to the Strathcona Registry, as I've found their service to be far better than any other registry in the city. The staff are extremely professional and friendly, answering any questions I have and providing prompt service without making me feel rushed. Recently I went in to update my driver's licence and was a bit nervous for having the picture taken (I've ended up with some pretty bad ones over the years, haha). Hannah was extremely helpful and patient and I ended up with the best licence photo I've ever taken.

THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL Registry I had ever been to. The Manager brought her child to work and she was spending as much time babysitting her screaming child as she did on helping customers, making her super slow. The other tellers were under trained and one had to keep going to other tellers for help. Then they neglected to tell me key information and then when I acted, without that info, they charged me $25 and got something totally useless, then they refused to refund me my money! Then when I got pissed off, because they just took $25 out of my pocket, they told me to never come back!!!! Can you believe that!?!? Don't go here, they'll rip you off, or waste your time or both, like they did to me!

Useless! Stopped in on a Sunday to renew my RV registration. The staff was unable to find my vehicle on their computer and told me the system was updated yesterday so the only way to renew was to get the original bill of sale or last years registration (neither of which were required last year). The staff member was unapologetic and made no attempt to help me out. I only had my insurance with me so I decided to leave and try another registry in Edmonton. The second registry found my RV and was able to renew my registration without any difficulties. Obviously Strathcona needs to improve their computer system or hire staff that actually know what they are doing. Same information provided and two very different results. Don’t waste your time here!

Forget about this registry for Road test. Very crowded, the route is in the most congested area of the city, my examiner was very young, rude and just started the job. They are $10 less than some other registries just to encourage the people. Me and one of my friend which both had driven for more than 10 years failed here in the same day with very high error points. At the same time anoher friend with less driving experience easily accepted in one of registries in north-east. This registry sucks.

DO NOT GET A ROAD TEST HERE. I live in the area and failed two tests (both with 70/75 demerits plus an instant fail or more) and was shouted at. Guy wears a gold ring on every finger and gold chains everywhere, I'm guessing he was hoping for a bribe. Went to Mill Woods for my next test, and despite having never been there I passed with 20/75 demerits, for going about 63 in a 50 zone (I missed the sign). Maybe he works on commission or something. Service is great otherwise. ladies inside are helpful and I've never dealt with long lines.

It was good. We went to renew an Alberta ID card. The agent asked "full term?" and I said Yes but then "wait how long is that?" She replied 5 years. "Oh, k no, then just one year". So it was $14. I'm glad I clarified so I didn't pay more than necessary! We went near closing time and they didn't mind. I was sure to say Thanks for being open longer than the other places. Horrible service. The person registered my car to the wrong plate. I was stopped by an officer telling me my license plate I had registered at Strathcona Registry was registered to nothing. I went back in and they told me they registered another license plate to my car than the one I asked but it was my fault for not noticing their mistake so I had to pay to get it fixed. How is that you can register the wrong license plate to someone’s car and it’s their fault when they give the correct information and only had one license place for the past 7 years and only ever registered the one.

Best registry experience I've had. Took my road test there, the examiner was fun and very fair, yet definitely an observant stickler for the rules. There's never any lines, and the reception workers were extremely friendly and went out of their way to process everything I needed processed. I've been there for a road test and it was horrible, I was taken in the most crowded/unpleasant streets in Edmonton in day's rush hour, confusing road constructions and various obstacles. the examiner wasn't always clear about where should we be going and some times I just couldn't hear him. I had a feeling that he's intentionally leading the test through the toughest intersections available. when it was over I got relieved as I was really stressed out. I don't think that was the normal circumstances normal people get examined. I'm a cautious driver by nature and I kept my sharp focus at best, but I failed. I don't believe in the system and I think it's a clear case of conflict of interest, and it's corrupted to the bone. they charge you $143 of your hard earned money for the road test, they will surely be happy to have you again and again and again and again and again.

I have gone to other Registry one in particular (Edmonton Registry-39 Ave) such bad service their, horrible and rude staff=Stay away from that Registry. Thais Souza and Allay Mcklough were amazing staff which took the time out to hear my situation and got it all resolved under 10 minutes. They explained everything in timely fashion and provided great information for future. Specially after having many issues with the 39 ave location I was done going to any other Registry but I am so glad I was referred to this location from an old employee of this location. My suggestion for international students: don't waste your time and just find another registry which is more knowledgeable about international students and which really cares about its customers. 1.5 month ago, I applied for an extentions of my health card. 3 weeks later of my application, I got the health card which was not extended at all. Basically, they sent me the same health card that I have. I went to this registry again to understand what was the problem. They didn't say anything and took my application second time for an extention. 3 weeks past and I haven't got my health card. I went to the registry again and asked if there is a problem. They said it may take 4 or 5 weeks. I insisted that there might be a problem. They were not aware of it at all. After they contacted the process officer, they told me that I am dependent of my spouse so if he extends, mine will also be extended. This is completely wrong information because I got my study permit independently from my spouse. Then, they told me that there is a problem related to my valid study permit. At the time (2018), the immigration officer made a mistake, confused my family and given names, and put them in the wrong spaces. I have this study permit since 2018, I went abroad and entered to Canada multiple times with this permit, and this is the first time this mistake caused a problem. They will not extend my health card until CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) corrects the error in the permit. Now, my issue with this registry is that if there was a problem why this registry made me wait for 1.5 months and made me insistly ask what is the problem. If they could have noticed the problem in my first application, I would have applied for the correction of my study permit earlier. Why do they take contact information if they do not inform people that there is a problem? This registy just wasted my time and put me in a difficult situation. They probably will reply as "I'm sorry you had a bad experience...". Being sorry changes nothing in my situation. It would be enough if you did your job properly.

Was told I had to meet with the seller of my car becuase the bill of sale is "old" they refused to take my digital copy that also had an insurance cancellation with the old owner. Staff were useless and extremely unhelpful. Now I'm forced to try and remake a bill of sale for a car ive owned for 8 months but have been unable to insure becuase of the ridiculous rates in alberta.

I've used them plenty of time before and the staff is really polite and helpful. I had to mail for a drivers abstract from Quebec, and didn't have the correct paper work. They called me up personally, told me all the necessary paper work. I even had to call them to confirm what I needed and they remembered me and helped me out. These people make me miss dealing with Alberta registry's because unlike Quebec the staff are really helpful and courteous.

Examiner ID 14308, examiner deliberately making you nervous on road test and seems to not follow protocol! During road test, he told me that I did not stop at a 4 way stop, when I clearly did. I remember I waited for the car on my right to stop before turning right (it was a good 3 seconds right after I stopped), I did not make any big deal out of it and just told him I'm sure I did as I clear the intersection, right after that he asked me to do a parallel park. All seems well and I was asked to do a couple more right and left turns before heading back to the registry. At the registry, he told me that I failed because I committed a violation on a 4 way stop when I did not make a full stop, I was explaining to him that I did calmly and how I saw it happen, but he insisted that I did not. Which brings me to my point, he told me before the road test starts, that if I committed a violation (that constitutes an automatic fail), that he'll stop the road test immediately and ask me to return to the registry, which he clearly did not follow, he still asked me maneuvers after the supposed violation that I did, which made me think that he was deliberately failing me at the exam. It almost felt like he was giving me points so I can fail, and when he figured that the points he gave me isn't enough to fail me, that's wen he mentioned the 4 way stop violation. He also make noises when he thinks you're going to make a mistake like approaching a traffic stop when light is about to turn yellow, like "whhooooppppps". He told me before the exam that the only communication he is allowed to do during the test would be directions and nothing else, and that the examiner is not allowed to confuse or make the examinee nervous, and it feels like he is making me commit mistakes. I'm OK with failing the test if indeed I deserved to fail. But why did he asked me to continue the exam as if what I did was just another point. This confuses me a lot, if that violation was an auto fail, why did he ask me to do a few more maneuvers in fact going through the entire half hour as if I was going to pass when he already knew I committed an auto fail? This is very unfair and against the protocol he told me. It feels like he was determined to fail me by points, and when that didn't work, used the 4way stop violation which I did not commit in the first place! The car stopped he knew it stopped! MY SPEEDOMETER WAS 0KPH FOR 3 EFFINNN SECONDSSSSSS!!!! One last thing, he mentioned that I was not making enough blind spot checks and mirror checks, I've let this one pass, but how much check are you supposed to make in a road test anyway? I have made my self aware of this before the road test, and that told my self I will make one every 15 seconds which I know I did! I almost looked like an idiot for doing it that many times even when not necessary! Was he just trying to run points on me??? My dad said we'll take the exam again here, he said he'll follow us during the road test and confronts this guy if pulls another one on me.

Unfortunately, sometimes we as newcomers to this country forget that we are in Canada and not in our native country, where everything goes and do not treat people with respect or dignity that they deserve. There's a small bag of disposable paper masks available inside, or you can ask the staff if they have one for you to wear. I recommend this registry for your driving tests, as the surrounding area is not usually very busy with cars, and the highway entrance is nearby. Lots of stop signs as well, so you can see the route in advance.

We went there today Aug 12,2020 at 9:50 am to do the learners test for my son and the lady were busy chatting not even bother that the customer was standing at the line..no other staff at the counter except that lady and she was chatting to the manager at the back office. Finally, she decided to come to the counter and assited us. She was very rude to us and not being helpful. She is so impolite talking to my son and trying to scare him. I wanted to renew my registration which I have been doing now for many years, super routine. For some reason all of a sudden the lady with thick rimmed glasses, got rude and was telling me she can't do it because there was an issue with the names, after several minutes of trying to understand what she was talking about, it still made no sense why she could not renew my registration, when the name was the same on the insurance and previous registration slip and insurance. Took my papers to a registry 2 minutes south, and the process took literally 30 seconds and got my new registration. I still do not understand what she was saying, and I really do not understand why she was rude and condescending making a very routine procedure so complicated.

Terrible customer service. My suggestion; take the time to drive an extra 10 minutes to AMA, because you'll waste that amount of time (or more) trying to educate the staff here on what they SHOULD already know. I was requesting a replacement drivers license, and the front counter lady told me that I need a Medical Report. For a replacement? I told her that this was not an application for a DL, but a replacement of an existing DL. She went to the back, asked the same question and (surprise!) came back with the answer I already knew, and tried to convince her of. On another question, the "manager" came to the kiosk and read through a web page with her. While I was less than a meter away, she didn't speak to me directly, but referred to me in the third person while I was present "no tell him he needs this.." This is not only ignorant, but exceptionally rude. The staff here have a reading comprehension skill of a third grade student; yes they know what some of the words mean, and they can sound out some of the others, but they have no idea of what the whole sentence actually means.

Every client has different needs and different circumstances, they need to know what's the problem then work on it. I have been here for MANY times. As a foreigner, sometimes I was not able to bring certain documents because of lacking experience. However, I always try to bring my smile. It is a kind of respect and encouragement to them. Had an expired licence crisis on Friday. Strathcona Registry was able to pull off what no one else could. Management in particular was extremely knowledgeable and I’m so appreciative of their outstanding customer service and competence. I highly recommend.

Horrible experience. Need an oath commissioner to sign an dower consent form. The commissioner rejected to do anything related with real estate despite my efforts to explain that the land title office and my agent both said it can be done at "any registry" with "any commissioner". Still the manager yelled "NO" from her office... Had to drive to another registry in rush hour and get it done in 1 minute. Too much arrogance. Will never come back again.

Got my license today. My examiner was Alexander and he was VERY kind. Not sure if I would have passed with a different examiner due to anxiety...but Alexander was REALLY understanding and empathetic about how stressful the road test can be. Don't be dissuaded from booking in Strathcona (some people avoid it due to all the pedestrians & traffic, e.g., around Whyte Ave). Regarding the registry, I don't really have complaints. The staff are all very friendly. I had one awkward phone conversation with them (where I kept on being put on hold and transferred to different staff) & there isn't really a waiting area/place to sit in the registry, but overall it was a positive experience.

I went in 15 minutes early for a road test and had to wait for the examiner for over 35 minutes. The examiner came in late and talked to a staff and I think they were talking about the online booking through which I booked the road test because I was able to hear stuff like it should have been blocked, it's stupid,.. I did book the road test on the same day in the morning but I have called before booking the test and the lady on the phone told me I can book pretty much whenever except Wednesday and Sunday so I just chose the earliest day that was available online. The worst part is that I did not even get an apology:(

WORST EXPERIENCE. The incident happened today eve when I applied for AH card. I recently immigrated to Canada and relocated to Edmonton this Jan. Since I haven't received my PR card, I brought in my original COPR along with required docs. While accepting the application, staff was rude (hair dyed red and a tattoo on her neck). When I received my original COPR back, it was in TWO PIECES. THE ORIGINAL COPR GOT STUCK INSIDE THE MACHINE AND WITHOUT INFORMING ME, SHE FORCEFULLY RETRIEVED IT, TEARING THE DOC. To make it much worse, she applied a TAPE on the LANDING DATE which can make the original document invalid. I lost my patience and when I questioned the way things are done, she apologized. She still kept blaming the machine and which is rather UNPROFESSIONAL and I was informed to speak with manager The DAMAGE DONE IS PERMANENT since the COPR CAN NEVER BE REPLACED and it may AFFECT MY CITIZENSHIP. My advice to the management, EDUCATE YOUR STAFF! YOU’RE MISTAKE HAS COST MY LIFE TIME OF EFFORT and I won't back down till I get a proper explanation.

Even 1 star I don't want give to them. I have never ever done 1 time service before. I should go to westend register to do all the thing. I will never come back again. Even they cannot register the car, I paid 80 dollars to register, and the police officer said my license plate didn't register to my car. Then I go back their office again, they need payment one more time. That mean I paid twice to register my license plate.

Just a heads up for everyone. There is no use of giving them your proof of address as they are messing things up. They put a different address/ info on documents that they send to Service Alberta and let you sign it. And when you want it corrected the next time you have to pay because you signed the wrong information. It’s a business tactic! Lesson learned for me. Don’t trust them: Be sure to check everything that they let you sign. This is the first time I have experience this!

I have nothing against the staff working here, they are wonderful and helpful. But the lady in charge (in the main office) is rude and misinformed. She will make it difficult for you if she gets the chance, so beware. I even caught her leaving around 3pm a couple of times with weird glances from her staff.

I am giving one star is because there is no ZERO star!!! The lady with thick rimmed glasses worked in the morning of February 22, 2021 really needs to IMPROVE her ATTITUDE. First of all, she DID NOT wear a mask. How could she even work at a registry??? She made me wait for a while when I was in line. (make sense because NO ONE is in front of me), then I greeted her with a decent loud voice and she decided to ignored it. Later on, she just stopped talking to me and just used her finger to point at the form where I should sign. She will make it difficult for you if she gets the chance, so beware. I’m not sure if she understands her job depends on all the customers she deals with. Definitely not going back to this registry EVER AGAIN, and she should be fired. PERIOD!

Awful, Rude, Unprofessional The staff locks the door 3-5 minutes prior to closing. If you get there an hour before closing they sometimes turn you away if the line is long. I had important business there and the staff wouldn't even condescend to speak with me. I've had the door locked on my face. It's also way too busy anyway and there's no where to sit. Worst service I've ever experienced, with the laziest staff ever.

ABYSMAL BEHAVIOR AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was there THREE times for the SAME issue and I got absolutely no help besides "this documentation is not sufficient for your request." Well, okay, if there are very specific requirements, it is THEIR job to make that clear so that next time, I can bring the proper documents. But NOPE. I got NOTHING more than an unfriendly smirk and rejection after rejection for THREE TIMES IN A ROW. I had to stand in line for 15 minutes, even though I was the ONLY one in line and when I was finally called up, there was no greeting or even acknowledgement of me as a customer. This place is the reason registries get such horrible reputation. Put more helpful and friendly staff on the floor or your already dwindling business will go down even more.

I took my girlfriend here for a class 7 test, it only took 10 mins for her to finish the test. However we spend almost 50 mins there, the staff there who helped us was so unproffectional, she put my grilfriend's name wrong, and even put her in a wrong system(I don't know what that's mean, but it did take a lot time to fix). The lady disappeared after she finished the test, the other guy told us to wait until she comes back. We wait for 15 mins and I go ask how much more time we are going to wait. The staff then tell me that lady is already done for the day. Really bad experience. I am re-edit this because I just noticed that they put the weight of my girlfriend wrong as well. My girl friend is very thin and she left a 98kg on her driver's license.........

Incompetent staff that think they know it all. When I needed a health insurance card, they don't know the law and made me chase my tail for a week. Discouraged, I went to In and Out registry and was out with a card within 10 minutes!!!
