Front desk told my girlfriend she could renew my passport on my behalf (before she went there), with written consent. When she got there with my written and signed consent letter, they confirmed again that she could do so. They checked all the papers and had her wait to see the passport officer, only to be told you have to be living with someone to renew their passport. This whole ordeal was an hour in total.... Hopefully someone reads this (or staff reads this and aligns what they are telling people) and avoids the wasted time... at 2pm on a Tuesday too...

Had to get a new passport last year. I called ahead to make sure I had everything I needed. Came with forms typed up but missed one section which i realized i forgot so i filled it out in pen. Waited 2 hours then got the rudest clerk. She told me she was not going to accept it because of the section in pen wasn't consistent with the rest of the forms. Wasted my time and ruined my day. Went to the one downtown and all of the employees were a joy to be around. The clerk i met there was very pleasant and said there was absolutely no reason for the other clerk to refuse my paperwork.

Have been here twice and my experience has been positive. Service keeps moving well even during busy times. I was helped with my application in a professional and prompt manner. Both times I submitted an application, I received the passport/s within 10 business days as advertised. Pleased with their service. Will recommend/come back again (in 10 years that is...;) )

They have the worst call center experience of all time. I called around lunch, was 28 in line. They put me on hold for 6 and a half hours only to repeat for 2 hours that 1 person was ahead of me in line. When their call centre closes, they don't automatically hang up your call which I find it extremely frustrating. I tried calling today and now the lineup for how many people ahead of me is 206. The customer service here is a joke.

I went first thing when they opened and all the employees were in a line smiling at us as we entered the door. As each customer walked in, one employee would go up to that customer, greet them kindly, and direct them to their booth. Their excellent guest service definitely made my morning! It was very quick and efficient especially when you go first thing in the morning.

It is Now Way Easier to get your Passport than it was ten years ago, if you come in the morning shortly after they open you will not wait long, I NB unfortunately came in at 10am and there was about 20 people ahead of me, but I still only had to wait roughly 20 or 25 minutes, not bad considering the last time I got my passport it was an all day ordeal.

Went in yesterday to renew my sons passport. I missed a line of information on the application that unfortunately I couldn't fill in on the spot so I had to take it home to complete. 100% my fault so I can't fault them for that one bit. Went back today with all the right info. went at 11:30 am and there was no line ups at all. The clerk at the check in desk reviewed to confirm I had all the right info and sent me on to the next employee to finish the process. The staff were polite, efficient and courteous. I was back on my way home by noon. People love to rag on places like this and registries. The reality is that if you go into these places prepared you'll have a good experience. If you go missing documents or information and can't accept that you might have made a mistake then you're going to be in for a bad experience. Overall this is a way better experience than mailing it in and hoping you did everything right.

I think all the negative comments are from people who have never been to the office, downtown in the Federal Building. Lots of FREE parking, easy to drive to, many malls in the SW to shop at afterwards .... minimal traffic, clean, the line ups were not that bad at all .... take it from this weary traveler ..... if you are looking for a Canadian Passport ..... do not go downtown ..... go to the burbs ! PS ... it's a Passport Office ! ..... and not the hospitable hotel that you are planning to stay at .... it's a privilege and not a right to have one .....so expect, scrutiny and watchful eyes and a lot of questions from stiff people who are looking out for all of us and the counties we visit.

Went in to put in a passport application, and got there at 2:30pm the whole process took around a half an hour from entry to exit. It wasn't too busy, and the Agent I dealt with was friendly and seemed in good spirits. And that's a nice change of pace from what I've come to expect from Service Canada employees. Plus the location was super simple to get to coming from south of the city!

Lined up before 8:30 when it opened. Was greeted by a line up of staff, which I thought was pretty neat. Unfortunately the lady I got was the most rude person I've ever encountered. Asked how her morning was and she basically grunted at me, asked her some friendly questions and she didn't even reply. Turns out I needed more documents and she rudely told me to find them and come back. If you hate your job and dealing with people that much, find a new one. I Left grumpy and hopefully when I go back I don't have to deal with her again. She works at Window # 2. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

I had seen reviews prior to deciding where to go and figured regardless couldn't be worse than going downtown, plus no fuse free parking. It was so worth the extra drive time. They were great, so friendly, so fast and so efficient. Was in and out in no time. What a pleasure. I was there when they opened. All the front line people were standing to greet people when the doors were opened. Warm friendly and efficient right through the whole process. The office is new and bright to boot! I was in and out with two passport applications in about 12 minutes. I don’t know if all passport offices are like this but I’m never going to another one.

I arrived at 8:25am and there was already a small lineup outside (despite the cold weather), but when the doors opened at 8:30 by a welcoming security guard, there were enough agents to take us all immediately. The woman who helped me was quick and efficient while also being friendly and kind. She said there is always a lineup outside in the morning, no matter the weather, so keep that in mind if you are in a hurry! I was in and out in 10 minutes. Super impressed compared to what the process was like at the old Fish Creek location!!

This is one of the locations that have a quicker turnover time to get your passport. I believe downtown is the only other location that provides a faster pick up date. Well organized. You can fill out your passport application at home to be faster, but they also have computers and printers here to do it. One tip: If you have not filled out an application go straight to the computers, then stand in line.

Efficient service, but the staff is very stiff at best and borderline hateful at worst. I submitted my renewal paperwork for a 5 year passport. The man (who did not have a name tag) did not make eye contact or ask any questions about my forms and then charged me for a 10 year passport and gave me a receipt for a 10 year passport, even though this is not what I indicated on my paperwork. He was generally miserable and I can't for the life of me understand why he has a position working with the public.

I'm quite accustomed to all types of services and reviews related to our company and EVERY business that I deal with inside and outside of work. Enough about me... This Calgary Sundance Passport Office was phenomenal. I showed up around 1:30 PM on a Wednesday and stood in line behind 5 people when I arrived. Within minutes I was in front of a very nice person (dark hair and glasses... sorry I didn't remember her name). She was very nice, cool, helpful, polite and QUICK. Then I went into the waiting room and maybe waited 10 or 15 minutes before my number was posted and I went to see another very nice person (long dark hair... ) and she was friendly, fast and had me out of there within minutes. I drove from downtown all the way to Sundance because of the reviews I've read and from endorsements from friends. They were all correct. 5 Stars. Thank you for your great service. Regards. I was so nervous headed here with my 4 month old because In the former location near James McEvitt I waited nearly an hour and a half for my turn. WHAT A DIFFERENCE HERE!! Larger space, more kiosks. I was in and out in about 10 minutes (went in around 9am on a Wednesday).

Impressive service. Very helpful . When i phone they told me everything that I needed to bring in order to make the process painless. I showed up in the morning around 8:30 just walked in and their employees were lined up and smiling just waiting to take care of us. My application took about 10 minutes to be finalized. All I have to do is pick it up at my convenience on the date assigned to me. I highly recommend this office. Be nice and they will be nice to you . Remember you will get back what you give. Cheers

The lady who helped me first was extremely kind, very helpful and quick. The second lady was very quick, but sneered at me the entire time she was reviewing my passport application. I don't know if she was just exhausted after a long day but wow she seemed extremely unhappy. Had an expression of absolute disgust and a very condescending tone of voice when I asked her a question. The security lady who let me out (they had just closed as I was finishing up) was really nice though, so at least I got to leave with a smile on my face.

On a recent trip to get my husband a new passport one specific agent gave us the run around about his Manitoba birth certificate. She told us it wasn't valid but they couldn't tell us why. When we asked for further clarification she got rude and snippy with us. She then referred us to AMA or to an Alberta Registries office to get a new one.....hmmmmmm....they can't issue a Manitoba birth certificate, but thanks for that unhelpful direction anyways. We went back a 2nd time to get some type of answer from a 2nd agent. Thankfully she was more helpful. I think some more time and money needs to be spent on our tax dollars to maybe train some of the front line agents a little better. AND, if you're going to tell someone why a piece of identification isn't valid, maybe have a reason to go with it.

The service is decent, though the place can be busy. Good luck finding it though, even after consulting Google maps. The Service Canada sign over the door cannot be seen from the street: that's the reason that businesses in suburban commercial districts have big signs at the edge or corner of the property. As well, it's clearly a passport office, but the signage on the building doesn't say that! Finally, there's quite a large seating/waiting area, so they expect folks to be waiting. Why they couldn't find more comfortable seating is a mystery. Those bent steel forms meant for outdoor use are cold, hard and unyielding.

The people working here are the barrel scrapings - rude, arrogant, and have no customer service skills. It shames me to see our country and government represented by these people.

Best experience hands down! I drove to from Lethbridge early Friday morning on January 17. I was applying for my two sons passports for our vacation next month. For starters the new office is functional, organized and very nice. Way better than the old one. Walking thru the doors greeted by the nice security woman then onto a Walmart wall of greeters(agents) was surprising! Each one of them were bright and ready to serve the public. The time I was their everyone was assisted with great efficiency! I was super lucky to have Jennifer! I could chatted with her all day. She was so kind, funny and helpful. Any questions I had or comments I made she was quick to reply while inputting my info. Pro multi-tasker!! I was in and out of the office in under 30 minutes. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly. There's a large display on the wall that makes it easy to see when your number is up. I was helped by Scott, who was friendly and efficient. It is very busy here even early in the morning so prepare for a wait. That's not really there fault, though, everyone was working very quickly.

Very friendly, supportive service, lots of free parking. I went there to get a passport and discovered one of my references was invalid. They gave me the right form to fill out and had work booths with phones available specifically for filling out the paperwork. The officer who reviewed my applications seemed at first cold and distant, but as I watched, I realized she was just really really focused - and fast! When she was finished, she smiled warmly and said "have a nice day". If I hadn't made that mistake, I would have been in and out in 15 minutes.

First trip - zero stars, second trip - 5 stars. I waited at least 3 weeks to post this to make sure I had the passports in my hand just to be sure I wasn't sabotaging myself. The first trip I got some angry red-haired lady at cubby #10 or 11, I think her name was Jessi or Jessica (1-star), and I got some serious attitude from her. Not sure why she had be so short and snarky, but she should not be working with the public or with anyone with that attitude. I had 4 forms to do for the family and god forbid I missed one piece of the fine print on one of 7 pages of instructions. You don't have to be a total B about it, just show me how to do it right. I guess she ate a bowl of piss & cornflakes for breakfast. She said I couldn't do 2 of them, but I took all four back because I wasn't going to sit through this any longer. The second trip I was dreading getting the angry snarky lady, but thank god I didn't , I dealt with Darla(?) (5-stars) at front and the nice gentleman at #1, I don't remember name, short hair slight tan, slight accent, very nice and polite (4-stars). problem solved-passport in hand. I had 3 adult forms and one child form. The staff overall really nice....except the first visit.
