I'm not sure why I'm rating this place. Everyone knows that really good music happens here, and the styles and genres are eclectic. I just got my ears blown off by a thrash band. It's not that they were too loud, I'm just too old. The next band was great. The acoustics in this old converted church are great, so it will handle a Capella to acoustic to Death Metal. If there's a band that you half way like they will sound great here.

It's always or nearly always! a good show at the West End Cultural Center. On this occasion, it was a perfect example of what the wecc is all about. The community came together to raise money in support of an at-risk Youth Farm program. Everything from stilt walking gymnast to singer-songwriters to the Flaming trolleys radical marching band. And there's a bar and you can bring your drinks in if you want, and lots of space when they set it up with the tables and chairs more like a cabaret. So much fun!

No matter what city I live in...I never find an indoor concert space I love as much as I do the WECC. It opened in 1987 when volunteers renovated the building to make a community arts facility. The first concert - Spirit of the West - was a total success and since then the calendar has been full with dance performances, concerts and literary readings. Nothing can equal the intimacy of the WECC or the diverse performers that come to grace it's stage. I was there when the Skydigger's played and the joint rocked so hard that the floor collapsed and the show was discontinued. I was also there on a quiet, rainy night -the first time I was brave enough to go to a concert alone - when Bob Snider sang and joked with us. The room was only 1/2 full, and it felt like we were all old friends laughing and having a conversation around his guitar. I also loved seeing local bands like Transistor Sound & Lighting Co. and Weakerthans play when they were starting out. Tickets are so reasonable too! This place is a gift to the city...

Had a wonderful evening with friends. It was a CD release for The New Customs. The opening act was Richard Inman. Both acts were great and got some in the audience up and dancing. Due to size the eats and drinks are limited, but a fair price.
