This Night Club is included in the category of Italian restaurant.
I ordered the Sriracha Mac and cheese, the Caesar salad, and the flourless chocolate cake. Hands down, this is the BEST Mac and cheese I have ever tasted in my entire life. So creamy and perfect. If you’re not a fan of spice/heat, I’d recommend their regular Mac and cheese. The Caesar salad was mouthwatering as well. The flourless chocolate cake was delicious and moist (sorry for those who hate that word!).
Absolutely loved this restaurant! Great food and menu, great atmosphere and a nice evening out, can't wait to go back, the service was amazing as well
Ordered off the Supreme Macaroni menu. Tried the mozzarella sticks, mushroom pizza, and a slice of cake. The mozzarella sticks were very bland. The spicy dipping sauce helped, but was one note. Mushroom pizza was a good portion, with plenty of toppings but the crust was over cooked (close to black on the bottom) and it tasted again…bland. The chocolate cake was laughably small in size, three bites worth. The cherry topping was nice, but the cake itself was surprisingly mild for what should have been a rich and indulgent flourless cake. Overall not a horrible meal but nothing stood out to me and I don’t get the rave reviews for this place at all.
Unexpectedly great! I read good reviews, but didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Uncommon menu items, but great tasting
Mitchell Block is a fantastic restaurant and lounge. I've been going here since 2017 and I've never been let down. Recently they hosted my staff party. The service, food, and drinks were all very good. Covid precautions were closely followed. Shoutout to The Mitchell Block team!
The restaurant is quite good, but it's expensive. The atmosphere is great and so is the service. Enjoyable food.
Ordered the fettuccine alfredo and raclette pizza. Thought they were delicious. Seems like the pasta is made in house. Really impressed!
Amazing food, amazing service. The chef found out I am vegan and cooked for me. It was the best pasta I've had since cafe luxy in Vancouver and that was my favourite restaurant. I might have a new favourite now.
Amazing food, great seasonal menu. Had their pork belly and.it was fantastic. Nice location off the Exchange District.
Amazing buck a shuck oysters!
Great everything! The chicken liver mouse is unreal. Sean, the chef is on point. I had the beef, which was cooked perfectly. It tasted like beef but it was the mushroom risotto that put it over the top. If you're a pasta lover, they make …
Excellent food. Great service!
Great atmosphere.
This place is amazing. Very nice staffs food are with a lot of heart , creative daily dishes ,beautiful plating and unbelievable flavour in every single dish. Reasonable price for the high quality ingredients.
Amazing service and food! Definitely a repeat visit!
Average.
Service was very accommodating for allergies. Small space with a nice ambiance. Food and cocktails were delicious. We'll go back just to have the Prairie Pennicilen again. Prices slightly above average but worth it for what you get.
Went to Mitchell Block with a group of friends last night and were in the lounge. Service was terrible, we were only served 1 drink each (server never came back to offer more drinks), and had to wait almost 2 hours for food. When we politely asked the server why it was taking so long, the reply was "this isn't a normal restaurant. The food is brought out when it's ready." No apology, no courtesy, no professionalism. Will never go back.
Cozy place with excellent food and service.
The Mitchell Block is an delicious experience that anyone should enjoy. Taking Italian and French influences and modifying them to local ingredients showcases the skill and creativity of Chef McKay. And while the prices are on the higher side, they are on par with similar restaurants in The Exchange and well worth the price of admission given the extremely reasonable portion sizes and spectacular flavour.
This restaurant was a surprise. At first, we were concerned with the limited menu, but we absolutely loved the food we received. The wine by the glass selection was also limited, but the bottle we ordered was delicious! The server was friendly and available without hovering. If you are looking for one of Winnipeg's hidden gems, check this out!!
We found the relatively small dining room atmosphere to be cosy, intimate and tasteful in a simple, not over-done way. We were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately upon arrival (no reservations) to a great 2 seat table in the center of the room. The waiter was charming, knowledgeable and attentive, A+. Soft smooth music and the patter of diners conversation and laughter made for a pleasant background and added to the ambiance. We chose Mozzarella Caprese as an Antipasti and it was brought to the table quickly and was delicious. My lovely date chose one of the specials of the day which was chicken in a butter sauce (sorry I don't recall the exact details of her dish), which she enjoyed very much. I choose the Penne Arrabiata (I'm a vegetarian), and it was spectacular.
AMAZING! The food and service there is FANTASTIC!
Great food and ambience
Great place to eat. We had a Christmas party there and it was perfect. The staff was awesome, attentive and sercice was fast. Overall a great experience.
Service
The food was great and very reasonably priced. I recommend the fettuccine!
We love Mitchell Block because of the excellent service, great homemade pasta dishes and top notch wine list. The ambiance in the dining room is perfect for date nights.
Went here for a late dinner for my birthday in December. The service was great, we had planned on drinking a lot of wine, and the server checked on us often enough to make this possible. Also tried the pear cosmopolitan, it was delicious! There were quite a few vegetarian options. The pasta was fantastic. I would definitely go here again.
Good service, really nice intimate atmosphere, and great food.
Pasta????
Small restaurant. Only seats about 48 people. Delicious food but a limited menu. Upstairs is the lounge and I loved it. Real chill upscale vibe with repurposed wood on walls and Edison bulbs. Definitely recomend going to the lounge for drinks. Also the poutine in the lounge was probably best poutine I've had.
What a great establishment, in the heart of the exchange district. The food is fantastic. I love that they make their pasta in house. The fried chicken is to die for. Really love the atmosphere of the restaurant and the lounge. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!
The food was delicious and visually well plated. The service was prompt and subtle.
The Service is HORRIBLE. I booked reservations for my boyfriends birthday- we were greeted and seated just fine. However, once our meals were served my boyfriend noticed a hair in his food. I politely called the waitress over to let her know about the hair and she rolled her eyes saying she would have the kitchen make a new one. She did NOT apologize for the hair.. I was utterly disgusted. I mean this isn't Boston Pizza and I can assure you even they would be extremely apologetic. The restaurant is small so I could hear her saying "make a new one" to the kitchen. It was really uncomfortable. After receiving the bill I was charged for the meal in full. Don't get me wrong- I wasn't expecting to get the meal for free, but not even a discount? Frankly I was more disgusted in the service than the hair in the food. It wasn't a small hair either. To my dismay, I was told that this "server" was actually a manager. WOW. I won't be going back and I have (of course) informed all my friends and family about this. Enter at your own risk!
(Translated) Very good pasta restaurant (Original) Très bon restaurant de pâtes
Awesome food, great staff and wonderful ambience
Veg lasagna is way too spicy. and its not even endorsed as an spicy item on the menu. its burning can't taste anything level of heat.
Had a great date here with my wife. Service and food were excellent. Music and ambience were spot on. Highly recommend.
We went upstairs to their lounge area. It is a beautiful space. One of my friends ended up talking to the chef who seemed very friendly. The food was all good. Presentation of desserts is very beautiful. Thursday nights are now half price oyster night (they used to be buck a shuck). I was a bit confused as most of my friends got special treatment, (extra oysters or extra appetizer) but for some reason they did not do anything for me. We had pointed out the disparity between the size of the oysters (the first set being extra large, the others being very small in comparison, but since we didn't share, it just ended up as some got a better deal). Their customer service isn't consistent.
Meal type
Great atmosphere! Food was delicious
Ordered from here for the first time for La Poutine week and their dish was so good I ordered it two days in a row! Delish.
I came here for the first time today. The service was awesome so points for that... food came quick. Reason I'm giving 2 stars is I had ordered the lemon ash beef teres for $30, which was prob the worst dish on the menu..considering all the other reviews are describing much better dishes. Or maybe it just wasnt made right. First off (and i hadn't noticed until it was mentioned) the waitress never asked me how i liked my meat done. The crunchy asian topping on top tasted way too sour and felt like it came fr a salad mix. The sauce/puree on the side was bland, all I tasted was the lemon topping that was taking up 90% of the plate. I didnt recognize much on my plate that was listed in the menu. Those leafy greens were very bitter n did not compliment the dish At all, also the meat was extremely chewy (i cannot emphasize this enough, my jaw hurt after). For $30 atleast cook the beef better. Also had a taste of one of the linguinis.. no comment. And their ceasar salad tasted exactly like the one from mcdonalds. I probably could give a better rating (and i really wish i did today) if i decide to visit again, but thats unlikely.
Pesto Pasta was ok, pizza was good
One of Winnipeg's best! Upscale casual dining in the heart of the exchange district. Everything was perfect. Nice wine selection, share plates and main course dishes. Highly recommend. Cheers!
The lounge and dollar oysters on Thursday nights are the BEST
Pasta did not disappoint at all!
Awesome pizza ????
Warning: I’m a good natured foodie from Toronto who likes great dining experiences... and I have the standards of someone who believes that it’s good service and great dishes that triumph, not “flash”. So take this review with grain of salt! Honestly this is the place you go for your birthday... and your best friend’s birthday and your grandma’s birthday and your stepdad’s birthday and your anniversary. It’s that place where you Know It Will Be Exactly What You Need. This place has the gross cardboard ceiling of an aging elementary school... and it CAN have that because it ROCKS and it’s vibe is “unassuming grace”. This is the type of place where you can say “dealer’s choice” for wine selection and be amazed with the pairing. Choose the special. Just sit back, relax, an enjoy: nothing will go amiss. Small menu where not a single dish seems like a “skip”. Was served by Bronwyn who really impressed with her cheerfulness and deft professionalism. Don’t think just go.
Great service once they remembered to unlock the front door. Retro lounge, fun cocktails, relaxing environment, excellent food.
Our salad was overdressed but the Brussels sprouts were unreal!!
Incredible food, great atmosphere and a good selection of wine and cocktails.
Great italian restaurant. Reservations are required as this is a popular restaurant. Great food and service. Enjoy!
Fantastic food and atmosphere.
Food and service were excellent at reasonable prices for this type of restaurant.
Food portions are actually larger than most higher priced dining. Nicely decorated and intimate restaurant. Roasted brussel sprouts and the beet salad were very good!
Very small but upscale restaurant. Small plates but very gourmet and delicious. I think they have a wine bar upstairs. On a main street so parking is iffy.
Don't go in that restaurant with a child cause they take you out immediately!!!
We had the French onion soup which was fantastic. The two pastas were well done and the service was superb. Very enjoyable.
Best dining experience in Winnipeg. The ambiance is classy and casual but not pretentious, the food is to die for and everything is made from scratch. The menu is small and simple but offers a good selection at a relatively reasonable price. Worth every penny!! I'll be back soon.
Awesome food! Great environment.
Really good service, excellent food.
The brussel sprouts will change your life. If you enter with an open heart, willing to be changed, these tiny green bundles sliced in half and lightly deep fried will make you realize that the world is not a cold dead place, and great joy exists within these brick walls.
Service
Wonderful atmosphere upstairs in the lounge to relax and hang out. Fortunate to get the comfy sofas by the bar. Had the dark chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, whisky butterscotch and salted almonds. We all agreed - it's to die for! Friendly staff.
Dinner
Loved the elegant and intimate atmosphere. The service was fast and the server was attentive. LOVED the food, they make HOME MADE PASTA, where else can you get fresh pasta!
Excellent fine dining experience! Friendly service. Nice atmosphere.
Excellent dinner this eve. Ordered the “date night” package and more than enough food for 2 of us, likely 3 ... the lasagna was super tasty and unique ingredients made it so much better than any other. The mushroom and pep pizza was among the best we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this restaurant!
One word...AMAZING!
Very cozy. Nice lounge space upstairs.
Buck a shuck all night long in the lounge!! (Thursdays) fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff! Their dining are is also minty! Great food!!
A quaint, delicate setting with friendly staff and amazing presentation with their dishes. The menu has great variety and the wine selection is quite nice for pairings with Italian food. The chicken breast (picture) is an amazing dish!
Very good restaurant. Nice place to take your significant other for a fancy dinner. A bit pricey but well worth it
Appetizers were great and the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and courteous. Definitely will go back.
The duck poutine for Poutine Week was great!! Can't wait to try more. Also, very friendly service.
I liked the restaurant because of its good menu. I invited my sister for a dinner at The mitchell block and have no remorse for selecting the aforementioned restaurant. Starters: We tried the chicken liver mousse as starter and I must say we fell in love with the Roasted garlic bread and chicken paste they presented. Wallnuts minced adds tatse to the dish. Mains: I tried the beef teres major which is beef served with meshed potatoes, kale, roasted herbs, exclusive salty sauce. It was good not exquisite I would say. My sister ordered Atlantic salmon which was presented in a gorgeous way. Salsa, boiled veggies, lemon, quinoa really aggrandized it. All in all I would give 7/10 because of the menu. It not like something really great but its a good restaurant which I am proud I visited. Give it a try guys. P.S - I am not into pastas but they have amazing menu for pastas as well.
Love this restaurant!
This restaurant is located in the historic Exchange District. It is a nice cozy place, but don’t let the size fool you. Fabulous local fare that is seasonal, with a great beer and wine selection. Staff is very knowledgeable in pairing suggestions and recommendations for menu items. We had the lamb shanks, which were seasoned in an interesting combination of sesame, coriander, and pumpkin seed. Served with squash. The appetizer we had was phenomenal: roasted Brussels sprouts with fresh dill and mustard seeds with a sauce that I can’t recall, but was very good. Their house made focaccia bread to start was tasty as well. This place is perfect for a date night with a special someone. Highly recommended!
Upstairs had a really nice quiet atmosphere, on Thursdays they have a buck a chuck oysters, and their aps always have new changing and interesting choices like mousse liver or bone marrow along with the more regular fare. Good qnd friendly service. Business casual dress kind of place
We went here for our date night as I was craving fine dinning and boy did it deliver! The waitress was extremely knowledgeable and full of life. All the dishes we ordered were superb. Our fav dish was the seafood with saffron spicy broth. The cocktails were a hit too. Definitely check out this place.
Just when I thought restaurants lost the art of cooking, The Mitchell Block shows up. Thank God. Our party had the lamb, salmon and the beef dinners. Everyone raved about their meal. The Beef Teres Major that I ordered was fabulous. The beef was melt in your mouth. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend.
Wow! The food was excellent, wine tasting trios awesome, and the staff is... beautiful!
Located in the exchange district. This restaurant has a cozy and relaxing environment. To celebrate a party or just to enjoy each ones company. Service was most excellent, very helpful and very polite. Food was aesthetically pleasing and tasted so good. Have been to this restaurant a couple of times already and enjoyed it each time. If you havent been here yet, its a really nice place to treat yourself and loved ones.
Great handmade food at a reasonable price for a high end restaurant. Small area so rsvp is a must.
Quaint atmosphere delicious food
I was quite dissapointed in the food I ordered from this restaurant. I got both the fettuccine alfredo and the lasagne, and both were kind of gross. The lasagne tasted the way dog food smells, and the fettuccine alfredo was pretty bland, I've had frozen pasta that was better. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone, especially for the price you pay for this food, better off just going to Walmart for frozen pasta.
We go there for lunch every so often and lunch . Food is consistantly excellent, service is wonderful and the meet the time demands of a lunch break. Highly recommended
Made online reservation and received a call to confirm. An hour before we were scheduled I got a text message reminder. Food was delicious and the server was friendly and helpful. I also found the prices very reasonable.
Excellent Food and Service. will be back.
Spent our 5 year anniversary dinner here. Great service and a neat restaurant! We had the pasta special for the day and it did not disappoint! It was lamb & beef meatballs spaghetti and was amazing. The pasta is home made and amazing. Really recommend their pasta dishes. I also go a salad before dinner and it was large and really good. We didn't care that much for the Cheesecake ourselves. Overall, had a wonderful experience and would go back.
Ill be back. We went for $1 oysters the service was great food was amazing. Lounge was great.
Great little spot in the Exchange. The fresh made pasta is top notch. The lounge upstairs, Wet + Dry Department is killer. The Arcade Game tops it off.
Awesome upscale food for a good price
Fantastic well prepared cuisine..????????
Awesome fresh pasta!!! Friendly staff!
The food was good but it was over priced.
Awesome pizza. Best crust, really good. More authentic Italian style but damn that’s hard to find in Winnipeg. I wish they’d add the basil at the end of cooking though for the margherita pizza, it’d be nice fresh and green on top. Still delicious!!!
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Food was very good but very small and it was served after 2hrs of order .service wasn't great
Food plates were extremely tasty. Service was slow. Took three hours to get all our food and drinks. Had a reservation for our group. They should have been properly staffed for a Saturday
Cozy environment. Staff is friendly. Decent quality and delicious food. I liked it a lot!
Beautiful space, friendly service, delicious food
Perhaps the best food/atmosphere I've ever experienced in the city
Lounge is good, restaurant not that impressive. In the restaurant, starters were nice, although I would not caution guacamole on steak tartare. So was the crème brulée (a tad more solid than is the norm but tasty). The pasta was not most impressive. I also much prefer the feel of the lounge (Exchange-y) to the restaurant, which feels dark and where the brick has been covered up and could be anywhere else in Winnipeg.
Great food!
Great place. Food is delicious and they have some of the best oysters I've had in Winnipeg. The sprouts are also incredible.
Went in with high expectations service yes, food almost, price on the higher end. Over all a good time with the people we where with in a good restaurant just less then my expectations.
Fantastic food and great service. The appetizers rock!
Go upstairs for the oysters, stay for the Bark and Stormy cocktails.
Delicious food. Lovely cozy restaurant. The pasta was particularly good. Servings sizes decent for this type of restaurant. Staff very friendly.
My raviolli was good but the three other people were disappointed. Carbinara sauce was too watery. Could be because the mushrooms were not cooked enough.
Delivery
Delish!!! Great for a date night or girls night out! Had a wonderful dinner!
Quick, friendly service and excellent treats. The free arcade game was some cool retro fun.
OMG, so good, we went on buck a shuck night in the lounge, it was excellent! If you like oysters you got to go!
During these difficult times picking up a take out order and bringing this incredible food to our house is the best treat we've had this year. WOW! This is incredible food. I had my first vegetable lasagna. Fantastic! Chorizo Pizza also delicious! Try the Brussel Sprouts! If you don't try Mitchell Block you are missing out.
Just order of Uber eats the food was amazing the portions were perfect can’t wait unit this pandemic is over so myself and my wife can visit them in person
Food and service was great. Freshly made foccacia was great and also the lemon ash butter. Good special on a Monday in the evening. Very well done by all the staff. Different takes on dishes and the freshly made pasta is very good.
Dine in
Amazing dinner and overly friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone! The details and creativity in the dishes you don't normally see in this city. Everything was delicious.
I have never had anything bad here. Everything is amazing, especially the pasta. I couldn't recommend coming here more.
Fantastic restaurant with great pizza, Mac and cheese (Siracha Mac and cheese for the win if you like a kick) , Brussel sprouts, and veggie lasagna. Boyfriends family ordered take out during Covid multiple times and everyone enjoyed it. When service was slower, they gave us their noodles to make the Siracha Mac and cheese. Can’t wait to dine in when we can and try out the full menu!!
You get what you pay for, and it’s worth it! The food and service is amazing to a tee: everything was cooked and flavoured beyond perfection and came out at reasonable intervals; service was always available but never imposing. 10/10 would go back but budget $40-70 per person.
I've been to the Mitchell Block a couple of times. The first time was for my birthday and it was pretty disappointing food-wise, so much so, that I had a second birthday dinner a week later somewhere else to make up for it. But, the second time I ate here, it was fairly positive in terms of both food and service. So, I'm pretty much on the fence as to whether this is a decent place to eat. For me, thus far, it's been pretty inconsistent so I've been exploring the restaurant scene elsewhere.
Service is incredible. Food is very tasty
The only positive thing I can say about our experience was our server. Very polite and respectful. The food on the other hand was less than average. Although the appetizers were simple and delicious. I custom ordered Alfredo and the sauce was questionable. Very mushy and sticky with a STRONG garlic taste. Other plates on the menu were very questionable. The salmon comes in a fermented mushroom broth served over a ridulous amount of greens. Way too many greens and was sitting in the fermented slop. The beef dish was way over cooked and dry, again with a hideous amount of green on the plate with no side dish. Roasted asparagus was crunchy and caked with salt and garlic. The creme bulet was cold. This is supposed to be served warm or teped. Not cool so it took away from the taste. I understand originality, but the menu needs serious work and needs to be taken down a notch. LESS IS MORE.
