Smitty’s St. James is by far the best Smitty’s location in the city as voted by our volleyball team. We’re lucky enough to regularly have Chelsea serve us. She is always on the ball - our team nachos are punched in before she even sees our table and come out just after the drinks arrive. Wings are always generously sized, crispy and perfectly sauced. Highly recommend!

Service is always welcoming. Wing quality surpasses all other locations consistently! I frequent several other locations throughout the city. Polo Parks bar displays are always the nicest. There is a fine line between tasteful and tacky, whomever displays the decorations has great taste!

Our server was great and efficient. Our experience while waiting was not good. We were offered a space on the patio not in the restaurant where we requested. Then promptly placed to the back of the line when we did not comply. Once we got past the lobby the server was wonderful. Our morning experience has been at this restaurant has been better. It was our favorite place .

How forgetful can a waitress get with two table in a bar and after writing down an order? Stop in here. You indeed will find out. The restaurant is big and spacious. There’s a family dining room and a sports bar. We were a party of 5. The food took a very long time with two tables. I ordered the fish and chips. 90% of the meal of fish is batter. I literally open the batter and eat the very thin layer of fish and left the batter. Everyone seemed content with there order. Not sure I would recommend with so many fantastic options in Winnipeg, but it doesn't hurt to stop in and check it out.

Went to Smitty's Restaurant on St.James St. for lunch. Had a Bacon and Egg Combo with a Belgian Waffle. Food looked good but was cold and service was terrible. Had to ask for sugar 3 times for coffee and by the time they brought syrup for the waffle, it was ice cold as well as the coffee. Won't go to this Smitty's again!

Wow went for afternoon lunch not a person in the restaurant. Food was terrible pancakes hard, portions very small. Waitress never once came to ask how food was .was at the one in garden city a few weeks ago and is is night and day . Strongly do not recommend going .

Extremely dissapoointed I came in with my two inlaws from guyana loking to get a couple of drinks and wings.to my disappoint i was not gteated when coming into the restaurant i happened to meet someone who looked like the manager that worked their .I asked if the patio was open he said yes someone should be with you shortly . 10 minutes went bye not even a hi no one to be found i wrnt back in to get someone to service us. I spoke to a gurl behind the bar asked idf we could get servived she replied yes, but yet again 10 mins went bye still no service not a hi not a glass of water zero acknowledgement. I was so embarrassed i brought tourists to this place and this is how we were treated totally unacceptable. It was around 3pm in the afternoon it was not busy absolutely no excuses for it.We ended up walking out and going to taveren united where we were welcomed and served immediately...Shame on you guys

Took my wife out for wings night on Thursday and met up with a few guys from one of my car clubs. Bar none best service I have had in months and I eaten out almost every day for over a decade. In fact service was so fast we even got our wings before our drinks came and the drinks were on the table in under 4 minutes of ordering. Will definitely go back to this location in the future.

Super great place and amazing service! I love the new renovations they did! The places needed it and now the atmosphere is so great! We usually eat in the lounge and the people who work there are so professional and really know what they are doing! 10/10 service everytime!

We went to this restaurant taught the food would be great like it usually is, but today of all days what is wrong with the cooking and the ordering on our meals, when my daughter ordered her stake was seemed to look raw but not rarely rare I know what rare looks like this looked very raw also my wife ordered the new York stake she asked the waiter for mashed potatoes, the staff takes care of the customers that's why I like coming here to come here for supper, I understand if any of the staff was having a bad day, or the cook. But they shouldn't be cooking or coming into work with problems. They should take pride in what they do.

Went to this location tonight with 4 other people. We were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait. There were also 2 other ladies ahead of us. Around the 25 minute mark, another couple with a child came in and were immediately seated. This angered the two ladies ahead of us. They were then seated right away. We were never acknowledged until I said something. I understand there were only 2 servers on. What I don’t understand is why they couldn’t have told the couple with the child that there was a bit of a wait and that they made a mistake seating them as there were already people waiting. Not acknowledging the people that were already patiently waiting until we complained was not cool. I’m giving 3 stars because I’ve been to this location before and have had pretty good service. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere.

What a wonderful place to have a drink and a bit of food. The decor in the bar really adds to the experience, as in it makes you want to have another. To top off the experience is one server in particular, Chelsea. If you want a majestic yet classy experience, please go to this location and ask for Chelsea, she got ya.

Recently I visited Smitty's on St. James in Winnipeg and it was a great experience in quality of food and service. They have a massive menu, tons of choices for even the most picky kids and seasoned adults. We had a party of 11 and the restaurant was clearly short-staffed, but our server was terrific and handled our boisterous crowd with grace, humor and patience. The restaurant was advertising for a night cook, but the chef on duty delivered our variety of orders all at the same time and all perfectly done. A great place to take a family or large group!

Went with my boyfriend to enjoy some wings and items from the main menu. Called ahead to see if they were busy. Walked in and got a table pretty fast. We were sitting at our table for almost 20 minutes, no one came by to say hi or take our drink orders. Watched other tables get seated and taken care of. Lots of waitresses passed by us but never said anything. I almost got up to get someone over to our table until this lovely waitress named Shane came by to check on us. I assume she wasn’t suppose to be our waitress but she took our orders anyway. She apologized for the wait because she noticed how we were sitting for quite awhile. She was very accommodating, making sure we were doing okay once we got our drinks and food. She apologized again when we were paying the bill for the wait and I thanked her for her hospitality towards me and my boyfriend. Would love to come there again if Shane is our waitress!

Possibly the worst experience I've had at Smitty's today, my apple crisp was served in a to go container and it was cold. It was so cold the ice cream on top didn't even melt. Our service was below average but noticed others were getting great service.

Placed pickup order. was told it would be ready in ten to fifteen minutes. Got there ten minutes later and paid for entire order. waited 20 minutes they brought out part of the order and said the rest was canceled after i paid for it all. I said why would I pay for stuff that was cancelled. they said they would make it but they were busy so it would take thirty to forty five minutes. I said no I just want to go home. then I had to wait for a refund on what I didn't get without even getting an apology.

Have so had it with this place, as a group, we've been going for some time. We're shunted into the bar area regardless of whether we like it or not, in spite of making our views known.. Ordering crispy fried potatoes for breakfast and being served what looked like mashed potatoes warmed up. There was an offer to take them back but having waited over an hour just to get our order taken, no thanks. So I settled for less than half of my breakfast. Sarcasm was the best service of the day. We did tend to visit over our meal, but we really would have liked to have a meal to linger over. Absolutely no apology for the atrocious service, but a snarky " we're busy" you know when requesting coffee refills. A request for water was lost.

Brought in a coworker in for dinner and drinks. First off the food was awesome, the chicken wings and sandwich were freshly prepared, crispy outside, juicy inside, and that hot sauce!? Bang on! What stood out was our incredible server Myriamz (sorry if I messed up the spelling). Myriamz gave the perfect level of attention to our table the entire night from 3-730 and was so friendly even through wing night which can be tough. I worked as a manager in the industry for 9-10 years, and I would be honoured to have her as one of my staff, she knocked it out of the park. We will all be back, thank you for such a great experience.

Love this location....Yvette, Cody and Jessica are GREAT bartenders and hosts. They are very pleasant and fun. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for the portions. Need to change up the drink specials and daily food specials just some marketing advise. But great place to go by far.

We stopped back at Smitty's in Winnipeg on our way back home to Fargo, ND. This time I had the hamburger. Sadly I didn't enjoy it as the hamburger is made with filler and not 100 percent beef. The fries were shoestring and came hotter than the last time I was here. My husband had the fish and chips which he really enjoyed. Service was great.

Favourite Smittys location! Staff is always super friendly and attentive, never have to wait long for anything and the food is always great! My fiance and I live about 15-20 minutes out of town and always find ourselves regretting when we dont go to this location and are looking forward to being regulars at the st james location. Love!

Met for lunch at Smitty’s, it was 1:30 on a Tuesday and the lounge was still busy for the lunch crowd. I had the chicken sandwich with cheese and spinach, cooked perfectly on a really good ciabatta bun. My spouse had a huge omelette with hash brown potatoes and rye toast. Sweet server, very efficient despite the busyness going on. The only problem was the wait to pay.

I am on numerous hockey teams that visit the St. James establishment and we cannot help but take notice that her memory and organizational skills for managing the points system is surely beyond her pay grade and role. Whether in the hospitality industry or otherwise Chelsea is bound for a wonderful destiny; In the meanwhile, so long as she is at Smitty’s I know that myself and my several hockey teams can be assured of continued exceptional service!~

Went for breakfast and was seated in the seperate "fishbowl" dining area. I had their Big Country Breakfast. Portions were a decent size, but a bit pricey at $17.99. With coffee, taxes and tip it was slighty over $26.00. They really need to have larger coffee mugs, so their servers don't have to make so many trips back to the table for refills.

Not a very good experience here. My water cup came with lipstick on it and when I returned it to a staff person, he took it away. When he returned with what I thought was a new clean cup, I discovered that he just wiped the outside and returned the same cup to me! I returned the cup, completely disgusted, and received an apology and 30% off one of the meals (our bill was over $100). Needless to say, I did not drink anything with my meal. Disastrous! We were there around 3 pm today.

Check this out! Door Dash accepted an order I placed, and the restaurant received it, and made it, and then Door Dash notified the restaurant that they didn't have a driver to deliver my order. An employee at the restaurant (I'm assuming management), then so very kindly called me to tell me the situation and immediately offered to drop it off himself! (Normally Door Dash would just cancel the order and tell you to reorder from somewhere else, after a long wait on both my part, as well as the restaurant's, who was waiting for a driver who would never arrive). I consider this above and beyond customer service, thank you so much, sir! (I believe his name is Rodney Gallant, according to my caller ID). Amazing! Times are tough these days, and acts of kindness and generosity like this certainly shouldn't go unnoticed. Again, thank you for making my day better, it won't be forgotten!

Came here for the wing special (59c wings) with my girlfriend. Wings were awesome, service was great, non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers are priced fairly. Alcoholic drinks are on the more expensive side, but I can overlook the extra dollar or two compared to other places. Would definitely return for wing night. 5/5

I’ve been coming to the St. James Smitty’s every Thursday night for at least the last 3 years with the same group of people. Yvette and Chelsea have always taken really good care of us. They are simply the best people to deal with. They are extremely friendly, outgoing, funny and, of course beautiful. My friends and I will only come in when we know they are working. Those two ladies are an absolute bundle of joy!

Cassy has been our server on numerous occasions and it has always been a pleasant experience. She is quick to ask if we need anything or just to check up on us, always comes out with a smile and a good attitude.

Smitty's is always good for wing nights, and it's nice to see they're starting to carry craft beers like Stone Angel and Stanley. Our server Cassy was very accommodating and polite, and service was quick. Their breakfasts are also great, especially their pancake options.

Situated close to the airport and between all my meetings, this place was a break from the chain steak houses, fast food selection and other traditional fare. Unfortunately, the decor and quality of the food was adequate at best. The service was merely okay but uninspired as is the restaurant itself. Still, it's a better option than the fast food places nearby and better priced than the steak places. Regrettably a sad commentary on the selection of restaurants in this area of Winnipeg.

First time i order chicken quesadillas..they were good, the second time i had a burger, not the best and the service wasnt good..now came back to take out 2 orders of chicken quesadillas and both of ours fell apart..we might as well just used a fork. Smitty's was pretty good, it sort of feels like Boston Pizza, or Wild Wing. Like a sports bar, is what I'm trying to say. The wings were pretty good, actually better than I expected. The service was also friendly and decent, and the whole meal wasn't expensive at all. The wings themselves tend not to be very large. Not a negative at all, and I would definitely go back. The thing is, wings seems to be what they're about, and I'd like to try something else on the menu.

They would not honor a valid 'senior's discount card'. My elderly Mother and I went to Smitty's for some breakfast the other day. She had with her a 10% off senior discount card that stated it was valid until April 2022. When asked about the discount the waitress said that she would talk to her manager, which I thought odd. It was very obviously a Smitty's issued card so I wasn't sure what the problem could be. She came back to tell us that the manager had said we couldn't use the card. Confused, I pointed out the expiry date and asked her why we couldn't use it. She said that she would talk to the manager again and took the card with her. The manager personally came to our table , with the card in hand, to inform us that "Smitty's had stopped that program a long time ago" and that they couldn't accept this card. I , again, pointed out the expiry date and said that I understand if they have stopped issuing these cards but this one was still clearly valid and should be honored. He outright refused and said that the best he could do was pay for our drinks but then he would have to "rip up the card". Feeling we had no choice , we accepted the offer (better than nothing) which got us ONE free cup of coffee. All this over 10%?! One would think just general common sense would give the 10% and inform the customer that the card would not be able to be used there after. Minimum. That would have been the honorable thing to do. The food was good which is why I gave three stars but I highly doubt I will attend this location again BTW we tipped the waitress well as we do all serving personnel during this pandemic. This issue wasn't her doing after all.

Called the store for pick up and ordered their 69 cent wings along with fries. For every 24 wings you had to order a drink which we don't have an issue with at all. The flavours we ordered were bbq, mild, garlic parm, and salt and pepper. We found them a bit salty so whoever cooked them today might have been a little heavy handed with the salt. We would go there for wing nights weekly and never had any issues. However, the size of the wings, how crispy they were with not a lot of batter, variety of flavours will still have us coming back.

This Smitty's is lovely, it was renovated recently and the service is always good. I find in comparison to other breakfast chains in the area such as Perkins or Pancake House, they consistently have the best quality food, both in terms of freshness and portion sizes that are good value for money.

Ordered food to go, waited 45 minutes after it was supposed to be ready for pick up, asked the hostess about my food, nothing, had to speak with the manager, and they had my food there the entire time, cold of course. It's very shameful and despicable, for a business to discriminate on people, just over vaccination status. I'm disappointed and will not support this business again.

So me Nd a friend went to Smitty's Nd we waited 15 min for someone to come ask if we want a drink then the server brought us our drinks then we sat there un acknowledge for another 20 min Nd No server came and asked to take our order. (It wasn't even busy there) so me and my friend walked out. Very poor service. Would not go back. Good to know what Smitty's true morals are. I saw a post on facebook, and decided to go and check for myself, and sure enough the same thing happened to me. I was sat in a different room and did not get served for 45 minutes, until I decided to leave. Absolutely disgusting. Enough with the copy and pasting from the owner as well, we all know now that you and your restaurants only stand for racism and discrimination. There's no hiding from it now!

I ordered an omelette with bacon, mushrooms and cheese with a side of hollondaise sauce which costed me 1.99$ with tax and I never got it! How is it an omelette with the bacon and too little cheese on the outside?! And too much mushrooms on the inside and ontop of that it’s too difficult to call Uber eats so I’m making sure to talk to the manager tomorrow!! Will never order from Smitty’s again!! Especially from Uber eats!!

I'd have given 5 ☆ but the waitress continuously interrupted our conversation to ask if we needed anything else. I enjoy an attentive server but this was way too much. There was a lot of pressure to order something other than wings and tea. It was pretty irritating. The food was good. Naked maple bacon wings were delish and temp was hot. Amazing tea selection too! I'll certainly go back.

Went here for a quick drink. Waitress/Bar tender made an awesome ceasar! We figured we would ordered some nachos. The chips were fresh and hot but we were a bit disappointed with the amount of cheese and toppings. Did appreciate that the waitress was very attentive.

It was wing night when we went and I ordered the wrong flavour (honey garlic instead of garlic parm). It was my mistake so I just decided to accept the order without making a fuss. I guess they saw the sad look on my face when it arrived, they decided to give me what I really wanted for free, even though I didn't ask for it. Now that is what I call great service, it was a pleasant surprise and I really appreciated it. The food was amazing too.

Racist, they have separate areas for people of color and a separate side for white people. When an aboriginal woman asked for waffles she was told there was none and when a women on the other side (white) asked for waffles, she was served waffles. There are photos posted of proof that they do this. When the waitress and manager were asked about this they completely denied it. ???? just going to leave this here. Have a great rest of your day.

Thanksgiving meal was brutal. It was supposed to be "turkey pot pie" but arrived as turkey stew (no pastry) with cheese buns on top. There was 1 slice of turkey and the rest was vegetables and gravy, all for $28. On Skip, it said select "up to two" desserts, but they called back saying it was a mistake and they are only sending one dessert. Looked like garbage and was way over-priced for what arrived.

My experience has been amazing here at Smitty's St. James. I can say, Chelsea has made coming in to the restaurant really welcoming and fun. She is always looking out for her customers and making sure their drinks and food is good. Her attention to detail is really good is what makes her service really good. Update July 18 2018 Every few weeks my wife and I head to Smitty's during the week to take advantage of the wing specials. This was the first time in a while that we walked in to a lounge full of teams. Chelsea has been fantastic at finding us a spot as she seems to know her regulars. One thing I noticed as the night went on was how well so little staff seem to handle the place. Owning a business myself, I appreciate when my own staff step up and take things over, especially when it means better service for me. Food was great as usual but company takes it up that extra star. Thanks for making us feel like we are special Chelsea. Make sure your manager knows what a find he has in his staff. I can say that I enjoy coming during the week with friends and family for wings and a hockey game. The staff are always pleasant and can even talk sports with the best of them. Beer is beer and the wings are always consistent and tasty. That is what we came for and we have not been disappointed. Great upgrades on the televisions. Only thing missing is a good hockey package for some of those games that aren't involving Canadian teams.

A group of 10 of us came in during our lunch break at noon. We had called ahead and made a reservation. We were seated in the lounge which was fine. The restaurant appeared very busy but the lounge was almost empty the entire time we were there. Our server, Jenna S, told us she was new, she was very pleasant, however, it took over half an hour to order our drinks. I have no idea why It took so long to get that part started when it wasn’t busy in the lounge. We ordered our food shortly after when the drinks arrived around 1245. At 130 we still didn’t have our food, I asked the server why it was taking so long as we had already been there for an hour and a half. She said something like the restaurant was really busy and now it’s died down so our food should be coming in about 5 mins. By this time another table near us had come in around 1245 and was now eating their food. Refills were also scarce, many of us were out of drinks for quite a while a few times. The food did come a few minutes later. All the food was hot, although there were a couple complaints: one person ordered a vegetarian omelette and the omelette was just plain egg with some onion and tomatoes piled on top. We would expect vegetables to be in the egg. Another person ordered 6 wings but when they came there was 12, apparently orders of 6 are only for wing nights. The server really should have mentioned that before as she probably wouldn’t have ordered that. We ate and then quickly left around 2:15 as we had to get back to work. This lunch took over 2 hours. We’ve gone out to other places and been done in an hour no problem. The server was very nice and apologized for the wait but I think they should have given such a large group a more experienced server. I have no idea what took so long other than the restaurant was very busy and was given priority over the lounge? I also expect to have a drink, at least water within 5-10 mins of being seated.

Completely horrible service. Apparently you have to be loud about the lack of service in order to get service. Took 30 mins for a waitress to even acknowledge my table. He excuse was she thought someone was helping us as i had a drink already. Which i did because i went to the bar to get one. But 1 drink and 2 people doesnt quite add up. Shouldn't take anyone 30 mins to even check on a table. It wasnt even busy yet. I showed up before the team rush.

Called in an order, they gave us a number to say when we show up. I show up at the store and give the number, the older guy working the front is yelling at the girls about how “we don’t use numbers we use names.”... Get my food, it’s missing more then half the order. Maybe instead of worrying about numbers or names, we should make sure the whole order gets in the bag. Of the 6 things I ordered, we ended up with three things, no cutlery or anything. Wouldn’t recommend this place, those poor girls working the front getting yelled at over numbers when the the kitchen isn’t packing the food right.

Yum! We arrived early morning and had a fantastic breakfast. We learned to ask for pancakes on the side instead of ordering the stack of 5 as it would be too much. Definitely worth your money to have a main and two of the listed sides. My only concern is that some guests and the bigger brunette server walked around the restaurant without masks. I get that they may be locals but the virus doesn’t exclude anyone. Hope they all abide by the same rules in the future.

I love the redone interior. Lots of tables and TVs and even has a pool table. Feels clean and welcoming and stylish. My only issue is that the bathrooms feel like they're a kilometer away which would be annoying when watching a game. Wait! I forgot the most important part: the wings here were some of the best I've had. Don't know if it was the cooks, or the shipment of wings, but they were wayyyyy better than I've had at almost anywhere. I will definitely return!

Restaurant is clean and services it's ok but nothing special. I've been going there 3 times for wing night and the wings always disappoint. They do have flavour on the outside because of the sauce or the skin, but the rest of the wing taste blend. This is happened to me the three times I have been there and I have had 6 different types of their wings. I dont know about the rest of the food, but if you're going for wings your money is better spent elsewhere.

Ordered liver and onions from seniors menu, it was terrible, liver was tough and mixed vegetables were about the same. Worst liver and onions I ever eaten. Will not be returning anytime soon, seniors menu has been changed so now no salad or dessert with the meal, portions are very small also. Not worth the money. Loved this clean, updated Smitty's in the St James shopping district. My hot Turkey sandwich with yam from was a good size and delicious. My companion's garden salad was small and drab. It had lettuce, a couple of little slices of cucumber and a tomatoe with a big brown spot. No, we did not complain. We should have. The vinagraite came in an old-style vinegar server and the oil and Vinegar had not even been shaken. Our server was quick and very friendly. She looked like she had a very large and body section to cover, and she did.

I placed an order for take out over the phone on October 9th for a breakfast, the girl taking my order repeated back my order incorrectly and I repeated it again and she confirmed she had what I said. I picked it up and got home to find it wasn't taken down correctly and the kitchen made further errors. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with a female manager who apologized and said she would speak with the girl who took down my order wrong and with the kitchen staff that read the ticket wrong, and offered me a complementary breakfast for my trouble (the food I received wasn't bad it just wasn't what I had ordered). Fast forward to today November 5th, I called to redeem my breakfast and was put through to a male manager who seemed upset by my request, his tone was annoyed and spoke quickly as if he was in a hurry to get off the phone with me. He asked what I wanted I told him the breakfast and he didn't ask what kind of eggs I wanted, I had to tell him the specifics of the previous order which he didn't seem all that interested in. When he was hanging up it sounded like he was yelling at someone as well. I went and picked up my breakfast and it was fine but still not what I would have ordered if I was asked (got scrambled eggs, I like over easy). The hostess I saw was friendly and the food tasted good. I am just disappointed that this is the kind of service I received considering it was replacing an incorrect order you would think they would take extra care to make sure everything is right. As someone who has worked in customer service for years I am experienced in dealing with difficult customers so I try to make sure I am always respectful and kind when I am dealing with others in the customer service industry and I expect better than what I was given today. Giving 3 out of 5 stars as the rest of the staff I dealt with were fine and the food tasted good.

Place was clean. Waitress was a sweetheart. Food came fast.... but barely 5 minutes? Horrible burger, i ate about 4 bites and then my spider sense told me to stop. Salad was warm, 1 bite of that. I've eaten at other smittys before and always had a good meal so i know what it's supposed to taste like. There was so much grease i thought they had put gravy on it... i wasn't in a mood to complain (one of those "sick of people days"), and i had a coupon so I wasn't out of pocket, so i left without saying anything (i know I should have but like i said, tired of peopleing). Oh, and the pop was flat, adjust your CO2 tank. I was a lil ill about a half hour later, ain't going back obviously. Edit- august 28th- upon contacting them (at their request) and i have yet to hear back from them. No even an appology. Unreal. The silence speaks volumes. Edit - oct 19/19-so i heard back from them Aug 29ish. They apologized, and said they would send me a gift certificate or card. I just realized that i never recieved it. How about that eh? Lol tsk tsk smittys, empty promises. Oh well.

Pre ordered my burger and fries foe takeout during burger week. Place was busy at the time shortly after noon. Brought it back to eat and I opened it up and the signature burger didn't appear to be special. Wasn't large. It tasted good for an ordinary burger, but I was expecting something more from a burger representing a restaurant for burger week competing to be the top one in all of winnipeg. I also ordered a side of fries and it was very disappointing the quantity of fries. It was maybe a small mcdonalds fries portion.
