This place DISCRIMINATES and refuses entry if you have a child. I came here on Saturday last week with my family which includes a toddler. We were refused entry because they don’t take any minors after 8pm. I came here today again at 7 pm and was told they don’t take any toddlers after 7pm. So looks like they change the policy in a week. It seems like a very non friendly place for a family. If they have a policy like this it needs to be displayed outside. I am infuriated if there was an option of giving no stars I would.

Great service, great food, great drinks (I’d come again) :) The restaurant is located right on marine drive, got a table relatively quick. Pictured below are the vegan and chicken tacos with the vegan tofu entree - both done well (and filling). The staff is super nice and accommodating, we did luck out coming on a not-so-busy day. Not much to say, but an awesome spot for dinner in White Rock!

It’s a restaurant just like any other, they serve food to people who give them money. The foods alright, not bad, pretty good. Of course service may vary depending on the seating situation and how many bills the kitchen staff have to crank out, but overall it’s alright. From what I hear just about every time I’m there, people are having a grand old time. The saying: “WOOOOOOOO” will be forever marked within the spirit of the ocean beach.

Good food Good ambience Lovely views Courteous and pleasant staff Quick service All went well till the time the bill came. We decided to tip 10% as service tax was already charged. Mind you bill was already close to 100 bucks. This probably did not go well with the waitress as she suddenly sulked and did not even thank us . Just took the card machine and muffed away. We were taken aback and felt little embarrassed also. Tipping is a choice and should be respected…. Place surely deserves a repeat visit but I am Not likely to do so sometime soon :(

I should have written this review last year. This establishment allowed groups of people who did not live in the same household, to dine together when it went against BC Health’s recommendations. While the powers that be were trying to open the economy while still keeping people safe, the OB Pub just opened their doors to all customers and didn’t even ask if patrons were all from the same household. I have no respect for those patrons nor for the businesses who haven’t done their due diligence to end this pandemic. I feel for their bottom line but the rights of the few do not supersede the rights of the many. Thanks for nothing OBP.

Hostess at the front door was rude. Horrible customer service!!! Added our names on the wait list and told her we prefer to sit on the patio. Finally got called and a couple walk-in infront of us was offered the option on the patio or inside. They took the last available patio table. She knew we arrived and were just behind the walk in customers because she thought the customers infront of us were us. Also, by the time we arrived, there were so many empty tables inside and one available on the patio (she did not call us soon as a table was available)

I was so excited when I found out that the Hemingway was being replaced by the classic OB. When it was in development it looked so promising and like we'd have a really cool new/old place opening up beach side - welcoming locals to the time of White Rock past. Unfortunately what came was just a variation of another JRG type location - equipped with the same high tables, mediocre food and overpriced drinks. Similar to any Earls, Browns or Cactus Club this place doesn't really have a special uniqueness or wholesomeness to it (like you can find in so many other terrific places in white rock) and certainly doesn't feel welcome to all. So if you're into the feel of a top 40 hits, suburban, medium grade food, with no authentic or exciting qualities (that you can so often find at these "big box/mainstream" type restaurants), this is for you. But if you want to see what White Rock is all about, save your money, and go next door, personally, I think you'll be so happy you did. Edit: just leaving a small note in regards to the response I received from the management of this business - I'm deeply hurt with my treatment in the response here, as a long time resident of the beach and someone who loves this town with my whole heart, this review really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I think speaks volumes to the customer service skills of this establishment.

I have been to The Ocean Beach several times since they re-opened and have never had a disappointing time. The staff really go out of their way to make sure you receive what you want. The Owner and General Manger are there almost every night to ensure things run smoothly and talk with customers. The bartender Tyler makes the best cocktails. I really enjoy their Cured Meat Board & Crispy Chicken Burger. I would high suggest going here on your next trip to White Rock.

Unfortunately, this was not what we expected. I first would like to point out the service was excellent. The server was polite and professional. The host was also pleasant and helpful. This is a pub style restaurant, the name is deceiving. The washrooms, are not Covid-19 safe. The taps are not hands free, nor is the toilets. The staff are all wearing masks and the sign is obvious. The tables are far a part. We were quickly attended to and the drinks came. Unfortunately, I ordered a virgin lime margarita and it was very tiny I then decided to order water and lemons. The glass was a tiny and was not even cold. We ordered the truffle french fries and they were delicious and the presentation was funky and artistic and functional I love the fryer basket great idea. We decided on the mac & Cheese AAA prime rib. It looked amazing as you can see in the picture. Disappointed, it was bland and , soupy and mushy. Adding pepper is not worth trying. The prime rib should have been marinated or Cajun seasoning or barbeque. The cheeses were a good idea but it was not baked long enough and it was flavorless. Unfortunately it is not worth ,$23.00. I honestly hate complaining. I hope that this Mac & Cheese will be worked on as it is a enticing and looks good on paper now the pallet needs to be worked on. I would only recommend this place if your looking for a pub style atmosphere.

Excellent service. A great view off the patio. We had the wings, the cauliflower, the nachos and their buuata board. The nachos were not that great (very soupy with lots of different kinds of sauces and ground chicken?? I think) Don't recommend them. Everything else was delicious! Will definitely be back.

Went to this restaurant today for a nice lunch . My husband ordered the fish tacos that were good. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad. Our waitress brought our food and I noticed my Caesar salad had no chicken. I communicated to our waitress that there was no chicken on my Caesar salad and said not to worry about it now. She gave no apology and looked at me with a blank look. I proceeded to eat my salad and noticed there was little to no dressing. I asked the waitress and showed her how dry the salad was and asked for dressing which I got . The worst Caesar salad dressing I have ever had. Go the pay the bill and they charged our bill for .50 cents for the dressing for my dry salad. We will never go back. Very sad to see a restaurant charge even though it was only 50 cents for dressing the Caesar salad was $16.00 .

Probably the best restaurant located on the promenade. Our server was exceptionally friendly and bubbly- gave us great, honest recommendations. Fish and chips were the best. Flaky, crispy, and a generous portion. Tofu was delicious as well. Beef dip was so-so, even dipped in the au jus, it was still a bit dry and lacking flavour. The Budweiser was very diluted unfortunately, better to stick to bottled beers. Overall, a really good place to get drinks and dinner with friends. Two entrées, two drinks and an appy came to $72 not including tip.

The Cheese & Cured meats plate was great for sharing, so were the Parmesan Cauliflower(have never seen it done this way, breaded and cut long) and the fish and chips. They also had a couple items in the kids menu, got the chicken strips, this was good as well.

Seriously GOOD food! I’m thinking about the food now and my mouth is watering. I had the fish and chips. Love their take on it cause you get a giant shrimp, salmon and cod and really good fries. Each has its own deliciousness factor. The coleslaw was seriously the most epic coleslaw I’ve ever tried. I might as well cry at the fact that I’m from Alberta and won’t get to go back forever. My wife and I walked down the line of restaurants and we stopped at this one and we were very pleased, both with the food and the service. they have very reasonable prices and have good happy hour selections. The interior is also very nice and they have a very odd but interesting looking vine/place something interesting here light art piece. I didn't take a photo of it but I wish I did.

My husband and sister in law popped into The Ocean Beach on a rainy Sunday evening and stumbled across a fabulous Happy Hour. This restaurant has had a multitude of names (owners?) so I wasn’t sure if it was going to be worth while. I was pleasantly surprised! The Happy Hour cocktails were *incredibly* crafted, not stingy on the alcohol, imaginative and delicious. Happy Hour food was also a hit - I highly recommend the salt and pepper wings ???? The Lavender Lemon drop shot is so tasty, we got two rounds. Can’t wait to come back for another Happy Hour soon!

Great place to sit and a fantastic view of the ocean. Spectacular. I think the menu needs a bit of tweaking. I have eaten here several times since the renovations. I am not keen on the menu. Not everyone likes truffle on the fries. Quite expensive for panko cauliflower. 14.00. I will happily support Ocean Beach, however I think the menu needs to be fixed up. Not my no.1 choice

YUMMY! Delicious food, fantastic views & great service. We had our daughter with us so we had to be out by 8pm as per rules but that was no issue. We were sat & served within enough time. At first we were seated inside but then a patio table became open & we asked to move. They obliged & it made our dining experience that much more phenomenal. We made a reservation to ensure a seat, it was busy & only became busier. Located on the main strip, we walked from our hotel. Gorgeous walk to & from. Highly recommend; food is too good! Fair prices & perfect portion.

There are other of places to eat/ drink along the main strip of white rock but there is one "Ocean Beach" which makes it noticeably different from the others. From the music, atmosphere and the food its one of the best places to be while your here. The server Emma was on point as were other employees, which make a business like this thrive. 10/10 will come back and recommend friends

Came here for cocktails and tapas last night and was blown away by the experience. The nitro espresso martini was the most delicious cocktail I've had in years. Had the short rib poutine and the cauliflower appetizer and they were both on point. Service was exceptional. Really looking forward to making this spot my new go-to.

Today I went with my husband and my son to the restaurant at 6 pm, the lady who is at the entrance told us that we would have to wait 45 min and my husband told her that it was okay, she with a pouting face stared at us and my Husband asked if he had to leave his name and she answered him if you are going to want to wait give me your name, with a terrible attitude, it made us very rude but we really wanted to eat there because the first time we went we loved it, we were waiting for an hour And they never sent us a message or called us and my husband went to ask how much longer we would have to wait and with a bad attitude again, he checked his waiting list and my husband realized that he had let in people who were after us and The woman told him that he had to wait more and said: ah, but you have a child with you, right? He can't come in after 7pm. My husband left very upset without saying anything, I think that from the beginning they should let us know this since they made us wait an hour so they wouldn't let us in, now I'm wondering if it was because of our son? Or did she really not want us to enter because we are Mexican? We had money to pay and to give tips, the behavior of the lady who is supposed to receive with KINDNESS to the beginners is not acceptable. What a shame and what a disappointment.

After a brisk October promenade walk we tried The Ocean Beach and we were seated at an ocean view table by the fireplace. I ordered a Margarita which disappointed me as it was mostly ice so after a 5 sips it was finished. My friend ordered a Flaming Chi Chi, which was served in a pineapple glass and the garnish was topped by an impressive flame of fire! The menu looked great but we chose the mini Charcuterie board. It turned out to be a very nice selection of cheese, pickled peppers, olives, deli meats, and crisp toast pieces. Happy Hour menu is 2 till 7pm and it's a great selection of food and drinks. Quick service and friendly atmosphere. $$ Bon Appétit!

Best Spot in White Rock. Large Patio, good spacing inside and out. The Ocean Beach has new decor and new menu. Both the food and drink menus are sure to have something for everyone. Food is excellent and well priced. The service and presentation was well beyond what we had expected. There is a pub style menu with Burgers, appies, nachos and craft beers, but this is more than a pub experience. We ordered the Red Wine and Apple Braised Short Rib ($26) and the Baked Short Rib Mac & Cheese ($23) along with some exotic cocktails served in unique glasses that really added to the presentation and experience. I would consider this place to be Covid Friendly, lots of space, service staff was masked, exceptional attention to cleaning. Hope you enjoy!!

I have been a huge fan of the Ocean Beach for a long while now! The restaurant is a phenomenal place to hangout with friends, family or whoever you might choose to bring along! The atmosphere is wonderful. Indoors as well as the patio is always beautifully maintained and no matter where you sit, you’ll enjoy your experience nevertheless. Right off the bat the hostesses always give you a warm welcome and make you feel right at home. They are organized, friendly and easy to talk to. If there is a wait list on order to be seated, they make sure they have your correct information in order to contact you. The customers service is fast and impeccable; the servers never leave you hanging, they offer honest recommendations regarding food and drinks and it is clear that you are continuously prioritized. It is inevitable that each and every one of the staff members work hard in order to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone. The General Manager Michelle is great at making sure everyone is happy and comfortable. She is friendly, open minded, generous and cares greatly about the opinions of others around her. She has a contagious smile (even under the mask) and leaves everyone just as happy as they were when they came in. The menu offers a large variety of unique appetizers and main meals that surely won’t be the same anywhere else. Not to mention, you will not go home hungry! The bartenders never fail to make the craziest cocktails that are always picture worthy as well. To put it simply, if you’re looking for a bite to eat, some drinks or just a great day/night out, you’ve gotta check this place out!

I visited the ocean beach last week and my experience started right at the front door. The hosts were extremely enthusiastic and accommodating. As soon as I sat down at my waterfront table I was instantly greeted by my amazing server Natalie. We asked what drinks she recommended and we obviously opted for the sugar baby and killer colada. The drinks were insta worthy and tasted AMAZING. I guess the bartender knows what he's doing. After a few drinks, we ordered the cauliflower and chicken burger. When I say it was the best chicken burger I have ever had... I mean it. Nothing bad to say about this amazing establishment. Everything was clean and comforting. Thank you Ocean Beach for the wonderful night. I will be back soon for another sugar baby.

I made a reservation for lunch for a group of adults and children on a busy weekend Sunday. The staff were absolutely amazing and the food fantastic! The braised wild salmon was the best salmon I’d ever had and my foody friend agreed. The house burger was awesome too.....the children’s menu.... and the chowder....all excellent. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and efficient. It’s a fantastic location, view, and great atmosphere. Thanks to the Ocean Beach for making such a fabulous beginning to our day at the beach!

Location and the space is beautiful, service is passable, but the food was a major disappointment. I had the beef burger which must have come from frozen and was worse than M. Omg guest had the chicken burger and was not impressed either. Cauliflower bites were ok, but nothing special. I had heard the food was bad but still had to try for myself and it was very meh. Will not be back. Do not recommend when there are so many better options on the same block, just try literally anywhere else. If you don't have a palate this is your place.

To start, we shared the nachos and wings, which were awesome and full of flavor. Our entrees came quick and hot, which made an already irresistible beef dip to die for. The aesthetic was modern and kept very clean. Overall we had an awesome experience; one that was worth every penny. 10/10, we will be returning soon.

If I could rate -5 I would. Came here with my family on a lil vacation to white rock, manager was so rude. We have an autistic son and she was not understanding or accommodating in any way. Food was also way way to overpriced.

Fish and chips were hot and crispy! They didn't have Guinness but the waitress recommended a really tasty IPA that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. It was $20 for two pieces of fish, a prawn, basket of fries and coleslaw. Staff were really friendly and my order came quick. Great atmosphere and comfortable high top seating. A nice selection of craft beers.

Only difference is this place left me SATISFIED. Food? Party in your mouth. Drinks? Iconic. Hostess? More welcoming than the doctor who helped birth me. Servers? So good I wanted to take mine home. first off double happy hour!!! thats crazy.. food was outstanding with good portion sizes. drinks were on another level, so tasty and fun with the cool glassware. waitresses were on the ball always checking on table and safe wearing masks. will be back forsure to try all the drinks i missed :)

Went there at opening time. 11:30am. Were the first people there. Sat near patio in the shade. Table wasn't wiped from evening before. One of the seats was yucky dirty and sticky. People i waz with didn't want to eat there. Staff didn't seem to care. We left and went to Boathouse.

Horrible service. On a slow Monday afternoon, the service was nearly non-existent. It took over 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our server at first. We then ordered the “Kennebec Potato Chips” that are supposed to be served warm, however, after seeing them sitting around in the service window for 10 minutes, they were evidently cold. The dip served with the chips was miniature so when we asked for another one, it took another 10 minutes for it to come out. The main courses consisted of an incredibly messy and overly sweet chicken burger and a flavourless mac and cheese with short rib. Both were depressing enough to question why we went to this restaurant. Our server also never bothered to check in throughout our meal or even bother to ask us if we wanted more drinks. Surprisingly enough, there were multiple people walking around the establishment without masks and not a single staff member bother to address any of them! All in all, everything about this place was terrible. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Went here just for a drink and they have some good selections. Great place to take in the views of the ocean and the inside is quiet nice as well. If your worried about social distancing some of the tables inside are spread apart well beyond 6.5 ft.

Its so refreshing to see local independent owners back in this space, especially when we continue to see 'chains' dominate the industry. The new space is thoughtfully designed, with the right balance of materials. Long gone are the days of a 'dark and dreary' ambiance....the Ocean Beach has done a fabulous job creating a space that is open, airy and alive!!! I've had the pleasure of visiting the new space on a few different occasions. The craft cocktails are unique, with some fun names ie. Fear the Boss, Bitter Ex lol!! A well balanced draft program, coupled with dual happy hour sessions 7 days a week, always make for a good time. What I really appreciated the most was the depth of the food menu. It's not just 'pub grub'...they have managed to create a culinary program that has a wide appeal with exceptional quality. Very well done and looking forward to coming back! #OB4Life Lager....a classic tribute to the history of the space!!

Delicious food, clean tables and restrooms, fun atmosphere. The parmesan crusted cauliflower is probably their best appetizer. Most cocktails come in cute glasses and they are delicious. The NZ short rib risotto, salmon, and chicken burger are my favourites so far - can't wait to try everything else on the menu!

Just had a spectacular experience at this establishment. If you haven't tried this place you must! Friendly service, amazing craft cocktails, incredible food, and stunning ocean views. We started with the Shrimp Ceviche, and finished with the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle and Coho Salmon, along with a few of their "Crymax" cocktails. It's so nice to see the original local owners back on the beach. Highly recommend- we will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their cocktail/food menu!
