Hubs and I visited here for the first time, and really enjoyed our visit. It reminded us of restaurants in Vegas, and we really enjoyed the environment - even the knife wall, which was a funny shock. Our waitress offered excellent suggestions like #frose (my new favorite summer drink - a grown up bellini.) Our food came out piping hot. At first glance, it looked like we didn't have enough fries, but I couldn't finish my plate. Took a couple of minutes in the foyer, but the staff were watching and found the hostess; who promptly sat us. Manager came by and asked how our food was and if we wanted the windows closed behind our table. Overall a good experience, good food, little wait time and nice environment. Thank you for a great date experience.

Great atmosphere and we got a seat fairly quick, ever without a reservation. However, the Poke Salad was a bit spicy for comfort. I finished the entire jug of water at the table, had to ask for more water and still wasn’t able to finish my meal. Overall, the meal had me sweating.

We stopped in for a Sunday lunch/brunch. Staff were outstanding! Personable, genuine and attentive. Service was timely throughout. I had ordered the 12 oz New York Strip loin and it was done perfectly! Very tender and tasty! Thanks to the chef…Kieron! Our group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our time at the S&L and would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Terrible service after the restaurant dropped the ball and refused to remediate the situation. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy! No sense of customer service and this was the General Manager I was talking to!

The neighborhood has been waiting for a place like this. Terrific food, ambiance, and service. The Sablefish is out of this world, and there are plenty of kid friendly menu items too. I don't have a picture of it, but for a real treat go for brunch and get the Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast. You'll need to share it though, it's super rich.

Been to other S L and recently moved to white rock. Never been to this location. Wasn’t expecting much o a lake Tuesday night. Spot is nice food a bit over priced considering small portions. But would of mind all Of that of the service was any good. Hate writing reviews because I don’t have time for this but they sat us away in the corner and our server didn’t even come to us for a while that someone from the bar had to take out initial drink and water. When we had more questions she said our server will be right with us. Our server seemed pretty new or more focused to go home, Rarely checked on us or asked if we needed anything else. Had to remind him mutiple times through the dinner. Did warn us about last call for food at 10:15 but after at 1035 we asked for a couple regular cokes and they said the bar is closed. Didn’t want alcohol just something to wash the food down that wasn’t warm water that we had since the beginning of our meal. No warning either about last call for any type of drinks and they refused to get us cokes. Overall did not feel like they cared as it was pretty dead that night, but even more reason to focus on our service. Not happy going to Earls across the street now and probably won’t come back. I didn’t even want to tip the dude but still out of mercy gave him a whole 8% which I already felt was generous!

Special occasion ruined last night, not enough staff to service all the tables. Felt bad for our waitress, who did her best but the evening was riddled with delays and mistakes. Management could limit tables during this difficult staffing period for all businesses.

Came here for brunch with 3 girlfriends. Two of us ordered the Lobster & Prawns Eggs Benedict (eggs poached hard), the other two ordered the Forest Mushrooms & Goat Cheese Omelette with coffees & mimosas all around. My girlfriends thought the mimosas were a little light on the alcohol, but I'm a light weight when it comes to that so it was good for me. My Eggs Benedict came out a bit on the cold side & the hollandaise was gloopy, not smooth & creamy like it should be. The potatoes though, were hot & crispy & the side salad was clean & refreshing. The flavours overall were good. Since it was my girlfriend's birthday, our server, who was amazing by the way (she's friendly, knowledgeable & kept the coffee coming, I wish I got her name so I could give her a shout out), offered her a birthday dessert. She chose the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble which she said was really good. I wish I had room to try it. The decor & ambiance has a rustic charm & I wouldn't mind coming back for dinner.

Went for happy hour last night. Ordered the Calamari, the Burrata and the Master Chicken. Calamari was soaked in grease and that was all you could taste. The burrata needed salt badly. The master chicken was very good along with the mash and bacon cream corn. This is the second time that we have come to S&L, the first time was the Langley location. Both times wondering why we didn’t go somewhere else. Also on a Saturday night at 9pm there were 3 tables with people in them. Used to love this place. Service was fantastic though. There was one service who had a shadow and she was amazing. Also the baked cookie is very good, thin but good.

Fun décor, menu is different from the other restaurants in it's category. It's not the best food ever but it's pretty good! The menu hasn't really changed over the years.

Ice cream dessert was very plain and over priced. The whole layout of the dessert also made eating it a large pain. Dishes weren’t cleared off the table until we asked the server to. Place was quite expensive overall. My lobster burger was decent though.

The ambience is nice, modern and comfortable. The manager and servers were very attentive, but I found the food in general just "ok". All the dishes that we shared were very flavorful, but also quite salty. For the first hour the music was at a comfortable level, but as the evening progressed it got louder, making it difficult to converse with our friends. Having said that, I will go back another time.

A huge shout out to the Manager, staff & owner of S+L Kitchen!! We celebrated our daughters grade 7 graduation there alongside some of her best friends. We called ahead to say it was a special occasion and could we have two tables; one for the adults and one for the girls away from us so they could feel special. The Manager specifically went out and bought grad decorations to make their table special. They served them their own ‘mocktails’ to celebrate. The meal was delicious both tables… and at the end they brought out their spectacular ice cream cart for dessert. We were blown away by the above and beyond service. We’ve always had such nice experiences at S&L and this one takes the cake especially as we couldn’t have traditional graduation ceremonies or parties at school due to Covid. Thank you S&L for going above & beyond!!

5 star experience if your expectations are correct - decent food, great staff, overall good experience. There are better steaks, there are better steaks at a better price, but overall this place offers a good experience, with something to please everyone. Oysters we're fresh and tasty with good sauces and delicious radish.

Kieran the chef at this location should be given a big raise! I have been to other S&L’s but this S&L is tasty beyond belief! He even came out so I could thank him personally! My steak was cooked absolutely perfect!

Service was extremely slow . Server did not come to our table once. We only ordered the buck a shucks, expected better service. Didnt even get serving plates. Our oysters sat at the bar for at least 20mins. Hopefully the tip went to the bartender. Sorry we weren't good enough for the server. ????

Wow - very interesting that all the other reviews have been deleted. I recently gave them a great rating, and I am not sure where it went. They must have hand picked who rates their establishment. This was second time dining here. My first experience was great. My second experience was a different story. Today the waitress was okay in terms of service. She failed to ask me how my food was and it took her a long time to remove my plate. My entree that I ordered was super salty. Not impressed.

Came here for a Saturday brunch. Very professional, courteous and friendly staff. Made a reservation just in case, but wasn't too busy. The staff made sure we had a high chair for our child at reservation time and seated us promptly when we arrived. We ordered the egg bennys and kids' chicken with fries. Food came out great, but expect it to be on the pricey side. This was expected as the decor, staff and food were all excellent. Will definitely bring family and friends here.

We visited at 1:00 Sunday March 28 2021...the two of us were greeted promptly at the front door and were seated directly. The place was about 20 % occupancy. We waited approximately 10 minutes before a server brought water to the table and informed us that another server would be by shortly to take our order. ....after watching server after server pass our table as if we weren't there, we left 20 minutes later.

Fresh. The crafted mains and desserts may take a little longer to arrive, but you'll be rewarded with elegant, understated, even sublime food. The wait-staff were pleasant and purposeful; the kitchen staff were competent and bustling. Almost like a bit of Yaletown in South Surrey :-) Best enjoyed when there are no more meetings or deadlines in your day, and unwinding with friends or family is the only agenda-item.

Had a bad experience the first time around, and hoped the second time back would be better. Unfortunately it was just as bad as I remembered. My meal was completely unappetizing, and I wasn’t offered a remake until well after the rest of the table had finished eating and the plates were cleared. Overall it was a really poor experience, the service was terrible. We sat down at 7:45 and weren’t tended to for at least half an hour, then once the food came we felt rushed (our server tried to bring us the bill while we were still eating). The manager did apologize and took the meal off the bill, but we left feeling disappointed in the entire experience.

I came here a little while ago, and it was so loud that my boyfriend and I couldn’t hear each other at all. That’s not really their fault, though. I can fairly say that the food was overpriced for what it was. The fried chicken was gross and I could have gotten better mashed potatoes and creamed corn for free at my job. You would be better off going to Browns Social House because they are cheaper and have better food. You can also hear the person next to you at Browns.

Went for evening Happy Hour. All the pop syrups were out. Tasted multiple flavors. Steak bites were bland, macaroni sticks weren't great. The fries were good though. Service was decent. I was told the Oysters were also good.

Had an amazing experience here today thanks to our lovely waitress Shu! She was so attentive and helpful at every turn! We really enjoyed a great happy hour here at the patio. Shu made sure we had a great time, and I will definitely be coming back for such great service!

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants, but recent dining experiences have not been up to their usual standards. The service is still great, but the food quality of our last meal was very poor. The steaks were underseasoned (my wife's tasted like liver) and they served us potatoes that were undercooked and raw in the middle. Other recent meals have seemed rushed and not as delicious. The service, is always impeccable, though.

They must be paying for reviews on here because... yikes.. Went it tonight and ordered drinks at 7:30 and they didn't arrive until 8:20. Split a charcuturie board with a friend (which was over $60) and we both were still hungry, but alas, last call for food had already occurred before we got our meal. Awful service. Nobody to greet you at the door. Won't be coming back again. Stay away.

Fantastic service! We went for brunch. I had the lobster and prawn benny, he had the traditional breakfast. Some of the potatoes had been in the fryer too long and were almost kettle chips, and too oily (some were still tasty). The benny was SO yummy, and the eggs were poached to perfection. The traditional's supposed to be over-easy eggs were so overdone they were crunchy. Got a replacement, but that wasn't great either. Decor is very interesting! Some definite highlights. Received a free mimosa as it was Mother's Day, which was lovely.

Decent service for our big group at night. Steaks were good but definitely not great. Prices were in line with quality. Definitely a trendy spot with lots of patrons. It fits the chain restaurant mix of appearing upscale and providing just enough to not annoy patrons.

Absolutely disgusting service. I would never recommend this establishment (if you can even call it that) we ordered our food online through there website, after being told to pick up at 8 my pregnant wife had to wait in the car at -10 degree weather for an hour (when told it would take 15 minutes) as the cooks did not process the order. Once we arrived home we noticed they missed a sandwich, it was a $223 order so it makes sense that a sandwich would get missed. It wouldn't be so bad if my family was in from out of town and it was my father in laws meal. We called to see if they could deliver, the host told us she would call us back with an update. 20 minutes later we received a call saying sorry we cannot deliver. After calling to let the General Manager know, he refused to to remediate the situation and told me if I wanted the sandwich to drive down and pick it up myself. No offer to deliver or even credit us back for the sandwich. We honestly live 5 minutes away but he couldn't get in his car to deliver he would rather see his business loose repeat business. When I told the manager this was unacceptable he proceed to tell me threats would not help my situation. Very rude from a customer service standpoint. Neither myself or any of my family will be returning to this establishment. Thinking outside the box goes a long way!

Use to eat here quite often. It appears (maybe I am wrong) there has been a lot of changes and NOT for the better. Was there a week ago. Terrible service. Drinks were bad. Out of certain food on the menu (but did not inform us until after we tried to order - twice. The food we received was over cooked. Only 3 other tables in use and yet service was extremely slow. Wrote an email to JRG - received no response. Thumbs down

Our server was great and the manager was warm and friendly, and he came around a few times to ask us how our meals tasted. The beef carpaccio was amazing, as were the mac and cheese sticks. My entree was the master chicken which was perfectly fried. Husband had the ribeye steak, which unfortunately was a touch overcooked, but he still happily devoured it. Overall, I would recommend and we will return.

Beautiful decor very festive, we ordered a couple of appi fried sprouts were yummy and the fish cakes were tasty the portion and size of the fish cakes were mini size. The entree we had sablefish which I found salty the portion size was very small about 2 nugget size sablefish for $46. As for the dessert baked cookie with ice cream it was served in a deep skillet it was a thin layer of melted cookie with teaspoon of ice cream again very expensive for so little food. I feel we paid for the decor ????

The service is absolutely disgraceful. We were a group of 3 and ordered at 8:20 pm. Received our food at 9:20 pm. Within 10 minutes, the server said we must place the last call for food. The steak, that they advertise as "the reason you came" was cold and underwhelming. I went on a rather empty Friday night and it took consistent effort to get the our server's attention, who kept changing for some reason. The worst part was the wait time that killed my hunger and any expectations of this place. Food was mediocre and service was absolutely ghastly. Cactus club and earls offer better and cheaper grub and much better service. Please do not waste your time by going here.

Service was excellent and the dishes were delectable. We had the Wagyu beef dip and lobster burger, and both did not disappoint. And the prices were reasonable for higher ended fare with an edge of creativity in terms of ingredient combinations. Parking is ample and the atmosphere is cozy and the unique artwork on display can be conversion starters.

I had the pleasure of hosting girls night at S+L South Surrey and we were all pleasantly surprised with the customers service and quality. We ordered: ???? Wagyu Beef Carpaccio ???? Burrata Tomato Salad ???? Tagliatelle Nero Pasta Fresca Needless to say, I think we found the perfect delicious and aesthetic spot for Girls Nights????????✨

Had dinner with a table of 6 at S+L and the food and drinks were good. But the service is very slow, took a long time to get our drinks. Even when we wanted to order more drinks it would take forever. I understand the industry as a whole is having a hard time hiring/retaining staff, but perhaps they should only take the amount of tables that the staff can handle. Don't blame the server as they were busy and running around but poor management.

If your options are browns, cactus club, earls and S+L. I would say S+L is a step above the others. The food was very good I had the tagleteli and it was delicious. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the service / drinks were excellent. We had a bar cart come over to our table and make a delicious drink right in front of us. Highly recommend this place over the other similar style restaurants.

I came here for appies and drinks with a girlfriend, and we really enjoyed our time. I had the shrimp cocktail and baked potato gnocchi (both on happy hour). Both were delicious, and the shrimp cocktail was beautifully served. The serving size and food quality was in line with the price. My friend had the chickpea fries and loved both the fries and the dipping sauce. I was a bit slow to be greeted at the door (2-3 mins for someone to come out), and the service was a bit slow (bartender was covering our area), but it was overall a nice experience. I believe that a renovation occurred and new chef has been hired since many of the earlier reviews which probably contributed to a good experience. I’ll be going back for dinner soon and will update my review then.

This was my first experience at S+L and it probably will be my last. I went in for a nice dinner with my family and it was not the best experience I've had dining out by far. As someone who works in hospitality I am the first person to be kind and understanding about busy nights. First, on a Saturday night they had one host at the door and it took us about 15 minutes for our reservation to get seated which is completely not her fault as she was clearly running around and doing her very best to get everyone in quickly - she just didn't have support. Then after our server did not come for a little bit after. While our server was nice, the service was not like something you would expect at a more expensive casual fine dining restaurant. She took our drink orders which took at least 7 minutes to hit our table and were not even that tasty and not properly highlighted as I told my server I like sweet drinks and the drink was NOT sweet, additionally our appies took a little while longer after that. When our appies hit the table we sat there without cutlery and napkins eating our appies with our hands until we were about half way done...then someone who wasn't our server finally came over with napkins and cutlery. Lastly it was about 10 minutes after we had finished our appies and the server came over and asked if we wanted to order some mains...which took another while longer...in addition to us ordering oysters which she finally came over and told us that they didn't have.. Lastly when we got the bill it took us at least 10 minutes to have our payment processed and the oysters were still on the bill. The food was ok and the service was ok...I definitely expect better from a JRG restaurant as normally everything is top notch.

Love S+L Best wings in the city. Not even close. Try them. Hero over Villain all day, but both sauces are top notch. In the land of underwhelming wings S+L is a shining light on the horizon. Mac & Cheese sticks are on another level. Best i’ve ever had and I order them everywhere I can. Master chicken is fantastic, I wish I could buy the dream seasoning! Bacon creamed corn and mashed are always on point. I’ve also enjoyed the ribeye and NY Striploin and they’re on point as well. Sorry the Dry aged beef is not for me though, an acquired taste I guess. Service is always great, we’ve had a few evenings where they were short staffed but they still provided great service. This is our go to spot and the premier location. Disclaimer: I do not work for and have no affiliation with S+L they have just consistently delivered top quality food and service on 20+ visits and that’s extremely hard to find. (Sorry I should have left a review sooner lol)

Third time back, giving this place, again another chance. I know it was only Monday lunch, the staff were nice and I went early. The fries were excellent, the new east van brown was good, the S+L burger, well let me put it this way, the least the kitchen could have done was cook me a fresh patty ! And 3 Stikes, you're out ...

I ordered a whole dinner for my wedding anniversary in January and the food arrived with hair in it so I called the restaurant, spoke to manager Krista, who apologized and said she would give me a credit for the whole meal for when I order next time. Today, I called to place an order and the General Manager, Omar, refused to honour the credit today. Another ruined night. Horrible service! I would give 0 stars if I could!

Had my second Visit on Monday evening at S+L! very calm night and a bit of new atmosphere not having to wear a mask with my second dose of the vaccine???? We were seated very quickly and greeted by a server within the minute! May I say our server Hailey provided an amazing experience for myself and my friend being very attentive and checking up on us frequently!!???? We ate the Sea-Cuterie, mac and cheese sticks and Wings, YUM! We could see chef “keenan” I believe working on our orders on the salads bar and were very impressed! Just another great aspect of our visit! Thanks S+L keep it up and see you at my next 5 star visit????????

We booked a table for 9pm. No one at the door to greet us first., We had to go find someone and a woman walked past as we were waiting towards the door and totally ignored us. Then she apologized for not ‘seeing’ us. Not sure how you can miss acknowledging two adults standing waiting! We were taken to a table and told a server will be by soon. TWENTY minutes later I had to go and find someone, a manager preferably. He came and apologized and offered a free bottle of the house wine of which I said I can’t drink a whole bottle so he said take it home. My friend was not drinking wine so she had one free drink. Sadly though the food was extremely disappointing. The steak bites maybe had three pieces of steak. The chick pea fries tasted very dry compared to the past, maybe reheated and the calamari was well over cooked and practically burnt. We did not eat the calamari because of that but was embarrassed to complain again. I felt very awkward. I’m not really sure why the service has gone this way. Last time I was there with my partner a few months ago he ordered a burger that was supposed to have two burgers on it and there was only one and no cheese. The food was sub par. He asked to have it rectified and again waited ten minutes and they brought just the pattie on a plate….seriously. The waitress was excellent and I am sorry she is leaving and we wish he all the luck in the world. The kitchen needs to kick themselves into gear and the manger needs to really look at the problems as they are ongoing for months. Awful, disappointing and not sure I want to go back to this location at the minimum.

Great atmosphere, reasonable price for its delicious food. It's high price for high-quality food becomes even better when in the happy hour, you can get an oyster for a dollar, and more deals like that! I highly recommend getting dessert. While I usually dislike dessert, their chocolate chip cookie may be the one exception to the rule. Their staff are friendly and quick on their feet. Overall great restaurant. I would highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a great date, or delicious food!

I had a lovely evening at S+L with attentive service and delicious food. The Ahi Tuna bites are a great appetizer, decadent but light. I had the steak and lobster, and this place does live up to it’s name! I’ll definitely be going back.

Awesome ambience and atmosphere. Manager name Milan is very nice. Definitely knows how to take care of you on your special days and occasions. Very nice setting and of course one of the best tasting items in their menu. I personally love the Blue Rare Steak with Roasted Mushrooms. Dark Chocolate Sphere in desert is a my choice.

Ordered 2 steaks, paid about $94. One medium-well and the other medium-rare. Both steaks were bleeding red and when we asked to be reimbursed they refused. Absolutely disgusting and wouldn’t be surprised if we get sick in the next couple days from the one bite that was taken. Heard good things about this place but definitely will not be returning.

The food was cold, even though they were not busy at all . Had to have to food remade . In between no one came to see if we needed more drink etc We asked for the heater to be turned on, as we were sitting in the patio area. They never was turned on. Overall a disappointmenting experience in food quality and service

FRIDAY night, I took my granddaughter out for a birthday dinner after our Spa treatment. We were lucky enough to be seated right away at a nice private table. As fast as we could open the menu, 2 ladies appeared and graciously advised menu items, wine tasters and other helpful advice. Before we knew it, these cheerful servers, Hayley and Lynn had brought us over a small plate of horsdoevres which were delicious. Along came the wine in short order, and our orders were taken. We had the Heavenly Chicken and the Wagu Beef Dip. Very delicious. The girls were cheerful and happy and could not do enough for us! At the end of the meal, a decadent chocolate nut dessert was served to celebrate my granddaughters birthday.Such a surprise! It was a lovely evening, made all the better by our wonderful girls who looked after us impeccably. Will definitely become regulars at S & L. Thank you so very much, Laurie

We had to wait 10 minutes before the hostess came to take our drink order. Our server did t show up until about an hour after we had already ordered our dunks and food. The food was not good. There was no taste in any of the food. There was a problem with our bill. We were given a gift card. I do not plan on going back there!

Amazing experience on a Wednesday evening, covid protocols are great made me feel safe the entire time, hostess anika was very friendly with my greeting and server Kristina was very attentive. On top Of that the food is very tasty too???? personal favourite is the master chicken sandwich????????

Ordered the master chicken 8 piece bucket with 3 sides and the gravy. They forgot the gravy. As for the sides, it was so small. There were 3 of us and we got a spoonful each of the 3 sides. I understand the missed gravy was an accident. But for the price you pay, the size of the sides should be somewhat decent.

disappointed, the dine out Vancouver website said veg options available: YES but when I arrived at S + L South Surrey I was told nothing can be changed on the set menu? I had even emailed my request for a birthday beforehand and mentioned it when they called me today but I guess they didn't actually read it when confirming my request would be fine. Please improve your accommodations for vegetarians as that is called progress for educated people as is common in the big city core of Vancouver.. update: they added a veg option; chickpea fries, after this message, thank you

I made reservations to this place a few days before Valentine’s Day and found out that dine out Vancouver is currently on. We decided to go with the set menu for the dine out Vancouver, Which consisted of a three-course meal. You have a choice of two appetizers, two main courses and two desserts. The food itself was average at best, with some dishes lacking in taste and some of the greens turning brown. For the $54 they were asking for person, I was expecting something better. I would suggest ordering off the menu, maybe save a couple of bucks. The restaurant itself is decent, a couple of issues with the faux leather seating surfaces cracking.

Came here for happy hour, loved their happy hour menu. The oysters are so plump and fresh, tasted sweet and refreshing, and we got another dozen. The wagyu beef carpaccio is soo good too the cheese, beef, cranberry etc work so well together, put everything on the baguette and you'll have a mouth orgasm! I'd definitely come back again for more!

I had a great experience here ! The atmosphere is amazing - Happy hour menu is actually so good. I liked that they had shrimp and oysters selected singularly for $1.75 each! So great for anyone who wants to just try something new or only wants a few fresh oysters on the side :)

This place is amazing! The servers are so nice and sweet! The kitchen staff prepares everything perfectly. The layout and vibe is awesome, with a great little patio. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone! If you can come for happy hour the oysters are half price and the drinks are cheap! Lobster chowder had way to much lemon it was hard to eat , orderd 4 steaks none where cooked properly and such small portiobs. The bacon and sweet corn had no bacon and tasted awful. Asked for a straw took till mid dinner to get it. Asked for drink refill and took waitress 2 times coming to the table to remember my drink... Not worth the money at all

*Update : So now that my phone will let me update my review. Lol. Super impressed with the owner and management. The contacted us immediately to discuss what happened. No excuses or trying to find reasons for what happened. Just straight up heard us and offered us to come back with sincerest apologies. We went back in and the service was wonderful the steaks again spot on!. We didn't feel like they were pushing to impress they just allowed us to enjoy another evening with them. We were very pleased. Wonderful evening and wonderful service. I would not hesitate to visit again. Thank you for reaching out. And thank you for hearing us. Re: Severely disappointed. Yes our waitress was new but she handled the other customers around us just fine. They were difficult and we were not. Whoever trained her did a disservice and did not run down the menu or basic drinks. She has a long road ahead. But this was not our issue. Our food was subpar and honestly mcdonald's looked better. Meh you get what you get. Though I will say the steak my husband had was very nicely cooked just needed more seasoning. We decided not to tip as we did not receive adequate service or food. We are very aware about how tips work and gage appropriately. I clearly from food service and many friends do as well so we judged based on what we received. But unfortunately this did not sit well with the manager. She stormed in straight to our table and proceeded to bate us for a fight. We said that it was fine but sub-par. She then gives attitude and say I quote " you know what this is about" .... umm excuse us but what the hell. She storms out with a teenage attitude like we just told her she can't go to the dance. We then confronted her as she scared the other customers in our section. She gave us attitude about the top which is non of her business by any means. She had attitude and then said it was a fair question. It was not when you attacked us instead of using proper customer service. My response and resolution for this situation is to either have her resigned or go through proper training in customer service. This will be a bad reflection all the way down the line. She may think she lost 3 customers but we will share this experience and recommend against giving business to this location. The most she could have done was to ask how things were and that she is wishing for feedback on her new waitress. We would have been happy to share our experience. But this was sadly not the case. Next time we will be happy to give our business to earls a cross the way or even the keg. Both of which have amazing service new or experienced staff and they deserve praise and tips.

They overcooked my steak, but new one came out quick and they comped both my steak and my friends. Great service! Edit: despite earlier giving 5 stars I'd have to say subsequent visits had less impressive, service. Particularly the last time I went and was sitting at the bar. Despite the restaurant being dead on a Saturday the female manager who was serving me spent most of her time flirting/dancing with tattoo face and was pretty awful at serving me food/drinks. I've actually seen tattoo face there before, I believe he works there and they let him wander around the kitchen and restaurant being drunk and obnoxious. As I discussed with another bartender I'd be surprised if s&l is still around when Earl's opens up. They can barely attract customers as is

Ruined our family Christmas dinner with our inlaws. Managment lacks any sort of customer service or respect, refused to deliver a meal five minutes away after admitting they dropped the ball not once but twice on a $225 order. Did not even offer to credit the meal. $10 gift card is unacceptable especially as we will never return to this so called establishment.

I originally wanted to give a 2- stars but changed to 5 stars because of the service from Brittany . I went to this restaurant with my 2 other best friends on Saturday . We ordered a drink to share " The Copper Pineapple " which cost $25 . It is totally not worth it because it was a small drink and it was full of Ice . I ordered a Top sirloin with medium rare and it came medium well . We waited almost 40min for our food to arrive. Our server , i believe her name is Brittany , came to check on us and we told her our concern . First she apologized and she asked the kitchen to make me another sirloin . After about 15min , the new sirloin came but it was worse than the first one . I believe it was well done . Brittany came in to check on the food again but this time I didnt want to make a fuss so just said it was ok . When the bill came , the sirlion and the " pineapple " drink were took off from bill stated as " Make it Right " . We were surprised when we saw it and that leaves a very good impression . The food was not so great but the service was great . Brittany went above and beyond. Definitely, we will come back and hopefully the food will be better by then. I was glad that i kept the receipt so give her a recognition. Well done , Brittany M .

She has the perfect balance of being that great server and entertaining us with some light humour in a very professional manner! Service was amazing. Could not have been better. Both dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious. I had the vegan cauliflower bowl my other half had the eggs Benny. Food couldn't have been better either. My only request is to add more vegan options. Had a great brunch will be back for sure.

It was my birthday and my friends took me to the S&L in South Surrey. It was a wonderful experience.There was a birthday card from S&L waitin at my table and free appetizers were served. Our meal was definitely chef inspired delicious. The service couldn't have been better. At the end they brought me a free dessert. The cheese cake had a lit candle and was decorated beautifully!!!!! First time trying S+L and it was delicious! Booked a reservation on open table. Must trys are the mac and cheese sticks and the lobster roll. The manager recommenced amazing options on the menu and really made sure to make our first visit a memorable experience. So yummy and great staff!

Just went for dinner at S + L South Surrey. Probably the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. They recently added mussels to their menu so we were very excited to have a seafood night with oysters and mussels. The oysters were quite small but that happens some times so we understood. After eating about 4 mussels, I put one in my mouth, and something smelt absolutely awful so I spat it out. It smelled so bad. We discovered it was rotten. I wanted to throw up. We had been eating an entire pot of mussels with rotten food in it. I feel absolutely disgusted and completely disappointed. I'm not sure if the cooks are unfamiliar with cooking seafood properly, but this has scared me enough never to go back to this restaurant. No idea if I'll get sick. Really hoping I don't. I would sincerely caution others about ordering seafood at this restaurant.

We ordered food from here for our family visiting for the holidays, we were told the food would be ready in 20 mins but when we arrived we were told the order wasn't passed on the kitchen staff. We were told it would be another 15-20 mins so I decided to wait for the order. When I went in after 20 mins I waited in thier lobby for another 15 mins for the food to be ready. When the food was ready almost 40 mins after I was initially told the order would be ready I got home I noticed I was charged for but missing 1 meal. I called and they were already aware and said they couldn’t get a hold of the driver when my number was on the order. At this point we were told they would call us back and after 20 mins the GM told us they could offer us a gift card and were to return for the missing meal. It was frustrating because dinner was already almost an hour late. At the end of the day staff was unhelpful in problem solving with us and we were still charged for a meal we never received.

Ordered the master chicken after reading some reviews and information on it. There was absolutely nothing "Master" about the chicken I received. First off the chicken was a pale white color not a normal golden brown i would expect from fried chicken. It was extremely soggy and greasy with tons of oil in the bottom of the bucket. I bravely tried a peice and the taste was terrible and fishy. The sides I ordered were macaroni salad, creamed corn and fries. The macaroni salad tasted off and had an extremely displeasing texture. The creamed corn was cold and also tasted a bit strange the fries were a bit cold and sadly the only part of the meal that I could even eat. Fried chicken is not rocket science a lot of fast food chains absolutely kill it. This was probably the most disappointing and underwhelming food I've ever had.

Mediocre food, environment, service. The sofas were cracked and I don't think it is possible for it to be completely clean. Not sure how they are following covid procedures to clean their seats... Frozen rose tastes okay but the presentation was a bit sad, was hoping to have mint in the top or something... also, for a full sized straw so I had no idea how to use it in the glass it comes with without it falling out of the glass.... Food wise, the price to ingredients used and flavor was lacking. For example, lobster chowder has more shrimp in it than lobster (if any, it was mushy and deteriorated). The flavor was not of lobsters. The Mac and cheese stick was too oily and the marinara sauce served with it didn't seem like a good match. The food is not like it's actually bad but I don't know why I would pay for this level of finished product. Also, food was barely warm when it arrived so the beef dip was okay... I feel like there is no love in their food.. lol quite disappointed since reviews didn't seem bad. Anyways, overall the experience for this price point, I would recommend any other places like earls, browns, liberty kitchen right across from it.

I had been planning on going here for so long, looking forward to the experience as we heard great things but we were left so very disappointed. We went in on a Friday night and it was really dead inside, barely any customers. First we ordered drinks, the waiter left the drinks and he never came back around to ask how the first few sips are tasting or if we are ready for appetizers as well.. I did not like my drink and had to wave down the waiter after 7-9 mins of him just walking around past us. I mentioned I didn't like my drink and they were kind enough to change it for another. Moving on we got our food, but it was so distasteful. huge chunks of avocados just tossed around, horrible plate presentation. Had to ask for hot sauce to give it some flavor because the dish was so bland. Overall just a disappointing experience because we expected more.

First time and last time going to S & L. My fiancé took me there for my birthday dinner and was disappointed with both the service and the food. There was no host to greet us at the door, waited for atleast a few minutes before someone seated us on a slow Monday night. We ordered the calamari to start and it was basically all batter. I ordered the top sirloin and asked for it to be cooked Chicago style, which was not done properly, it was actually cold and came with sides I did not order. I wouldn't waste your money here, too overpriced with the quality of food and service received.

Went for a Friday night dinner with the wife. Seated very quickly, it wasn’t overly busy. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the master chicken and the wagyu beef dip. Both items were superb. The beef dip was nice and juicy with a good amount of jus. Chicken was delicious and so were the mashed potatoes. All in all it was a great time and I would definitely go back.

We often go to S+L south surrey. I find it overpriced, for what you are getting at the south surrey location. Although the service staff is kind, it never operates quite like a restaurant should. They are either under staffed with poor service, or the food isn’t quite right, there is no one to greet you at the door and you just feel like something is not quite right. It’s just not smooth and easy and positive. We try and support them as they are local and definitely love some things on their menu and love the other locations. Again, We have been to other s+L’s but the south surrey just is missing something where you just don’t feel great about the experience. It sends mixed vibes right from the get go as it comes across more as an over priced, elitist club where they put little effort and you should be grateful you got a seat, but the food and service and ambience don’t even come close to a three star, so why the cold icy put on. We go there quite often and we are often disappointed and it only seems to be getting worse. Last night we showed up at 6:15 to see if we could squeeze in. We were greeted with “do you have a reservation?” (No other words) from Omar who we have seen many times but has never said hi or greeted us. Omar the manager then checked and they were fully booked for the night, no options. Not “would you like take out, how about we try another night” or any other options. It just felt like they didn’t want us as customers, and that’s the normal feeling S+L south surrey gives you like you are inconveniencing them by being there. Not even a thank you for stopping by. Okay Omar, we won’t bother you again.

We ordered their Master Chicken family meal with Mac salad and mashed potatoes as sides and a black pepper aioli dip. The only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes. Chicken was barely passable and to quote another reviewer: there was nothing masterful about the chicken or the food in general. Whoever made the rest had no clue how to season food. Everything was so salty (especially the gravy) we really had to just throw the food away. So what would I recommend? mashed potatoes, better yet, drive down to Popeyes. They serve a better fare.
