This place, has been one of my favourite spots in town. The vibes are so good, and the staff is even better. There drinks are TOTALLY worth the trip. They put beautiful garnishes, and incredible ingredients in each drink, like rosemary sprigs, watermelon slices, or muddled mint. You can tell each one was made with such care. They are so accommodating, and kind. I have never gone without the staff making good jokes, and giving me a laugh. The people there clearly enjoy working in such a positive environment. The food is also great too! It's all Vegetarian, and most things can be made Vegan. Everything there is very cozy, and comforting. It's the homemade feel, without tasting too homemade. Sometimes the environment is loud, as they are rocking out to great music. Its a nice feel though, and I'd recommend Jane bond any day of the week. This is a hidden gem, that I feel grateful I found :)

Uptown's best secret place to hang out. Fiercely inclusive and Vegetarian. A retro-alt decor groove with authentic retro swag and live music. Definitely not a chain-reheater, just enough selection to ensure what is there is highest quality.

I love this secret gem! My spouse and I frequent this place for the kind service and incredible atmosphere. The beer menu changes often, and they never disappoint. The specials are well thought out and full of flavour. Have a tequila, support local and let your evening settle in Uptown Waterloo.

Service is really slow here. The waitress took our menus and said she'd give us the dinner menu. So 20 minutes was wasted looking at what? And I'm the end she never gave us anything so I never got to eat. The beer is tasty but had an unprofessional experience making us stand below the menu trying to read in the dark.

This is some of the best veggie food I've seen in the region! The restaurant has great atmosphere and design. When we went the service was a tad slow but there seemed to only be one waiter working so they might have been short-staffed that night. Can't wait to come back soon!

Great vegetarian food. Also note that they are vegetarian not vegan which means they have real cheese. Be sure to check out the nachos. I ordered a special on my last visit that was a peanut stir fry over rice that was absolutely delicious. Given the higher price point, my only criticism is that I would expect nicer ambiance (eg ragged menu).

Super cool and attentive staff, great veg food, really good beer and cocktails. Women NEVER have to wait to pee (3 unisex washrooms). Yep, it gets loud. It's a *bar* that serves great food. *Only* complaint? The new sticky and boring white tables that replaced the killer 70's ones.. not a biggee.

Came here on a Friday night and was seated right away around 7ish. The server was very nice and told us the specials for the night with a cheery smile. We got the enchiladas and the grilled cheese but the kitchen was really slow that night and we didn't end up getting served until 8. As we asked and they admitted they were behind we were given complimentary nachos which was great cuz we were quite hungry by then. The enchiladas was baked and meshed together to a spicy medley of rice and beans. I loved every bite! We also ordered a white chocolate strawberry flan for dessert which was quite sweet and cheaper than what I expected at $6 and thankfully came out quicker. Altogether would definitely come back.

Some great vegan options here!! For non-vegans, their antojitos are fantastic. Not a lot of seating. Some cool drinks on the menu as well. Pear infused something, if I remember correctly?

This restaurant has a grungy appearance when you walk through the main entrance, but it has a unique style and is a hidden gem once you walk in. The food is filling and tastes great. I did find a pebble in my burrito though. They just need to pay a little more attention when preparing the food, but I would go back because the food was tasty.

6/5. This place has been a favourite of mine since 1997. It's only improved over the years. Menu is delicious vegetarian, drinks menu is full and appropriate (a far cry from the Labatt 50 days of my youth), but more importantly you are here because it's vibrant, fun, low key, and you always feel like you somehow snuck into a new scene that is new to you, but makes you feel at home. I almost feel bad reviewing it, because it deserves to exist via whispered mentions, not social media.

Great modern pub with tasty food and a good selection of craft beer. They carry many interesting beers from top shelf Ontario breweries. As far as price goes their menu is fairly reasonable, as it is not expensive but things are a bit pricier than other student pubs in the area.

Great place for vegetarian food in Waterloo, it tends to get busy for dinner so it's always recommended to get there early or make a reservation. Try their grilled cheese, antijitos and martinis! Ambience is really cool.

Don't be put off by the vegetarian menu. I have gone here several times and love it! It's fun and casual. Great selection of music. Aside from their lentil cashew nut burger (which is excellent), the food isn't particularly exciting but there is a great variety and it is very, very tasty. You wouldn't really notice that there's no meat. A good portion of the appeal of this place is the great service too. Wonderful people work at Jane Bond.

Vegetarian or not, you should not pass this place up. They have a nice variety of food, and if you get there after 8pm there will likely be live music, either a DJ or musician. The atmosphere can be quite dark at night, so if you aren't into that I'd recommend going earlier. There is also a good selection of different types of alcoholic drinks to choose from.

We kept hearing this place was a hidden gem, so we finally decided to check it out. Very awesome little place with a unique atmosphere! We both really loved our meals and would absolutely return again! The menu had some unique items on it that sounded good - certainly not just normal bar food, more like "foodie" bar food! It does seem to get quite busy on the hot bar nights though, we had tried to go a couple times prior but it was too packed so we ended up eating somewhere else. We will definitely be going back and bringing some friends next time too!

Cute place with a decent vibe, that that's all it had going for it. The Veganized menu items that we had were nothing more than omitting cheese from the dish. Out of the three dishes we ordered one was very dry, another was extremely spicy (hot, not flavourful) and the third was inly so so. It took almost an hour for our food to arrive with no updates on the status of our order or an apology for the wait. Sad to say, but the food was boring, lazy and uninspired. We wouldn't recommend this spot.

We came here at night and it was so dark inside, which I kind of liked because it added to the ambiance. We ordered a burger and nachos. Both were tasty. I also thought the service was good too. I am only giving it a 4/5 star because the portions were small. But I am glad there is a trendy, vegetarian place in KW. :)

Looking for a new hole in the wall look no further! Very quirky place with lots different beers and cocktails. I HIGHLY recommend trying the Jerk Tempeh Burrito. It comes with pineapple salsa and its too filling and flavourful. Friend had the curry although good not my favourite. The menu consists of vegetarian item and they will surprise you with the flavour. Bar tenders are very friendly and service is quick.

Love this place, great food for vegetarians o or anyone really. The antijitos are fantastic here, best in Waterloo for sure. Only reason this isn't 4 stars is the last two times I was here the food was very slow coming out from the kitchen. Once it took upwards of an hour and the server offered no explanation or apologies. Hopefully this was a couple of flukes because otherwise Jane Bond is great!

I don't understand what happened here. It used to be a fun, quirky little place where you could get some interesting vegan/vegetarian options but going for dinner last week was a real bust. A lot of their old menu options are gone (the mushrooms), which was a tragedy, they were sold out of the eggplant parm fairly early in the night, and they give or take had twelve overpriced menu options that weren't anything to write home about. I'm not sure if they're trying to transition into more of a bar than a restaurant but this is for sure a weird time for them. I hope they turn it back around.

Perhaps my expectations had been raised a bit too high from everything I had heard about this place, but I found it very solidly middle of the road. There was nothing unpleasant about my visit, but nothing that would make me want to come back either. The food was good - I ordered the burger and my partner got nachos. The burger was delicious if a little small, but the nachos and the salsa tasted like they were out of a jar rather than made in house. Our server was very friendly, and the entire place had an intimate atmosphere that encouraged conversation. I had a pleasant evening overall.

Jane Bond has been a staple of uptown for longer than I've lived here. I love their rotating specials and passion for providing an ever changing assortment of craft beers. My favourite part of JB is the lighting however, the string lights and disco ball make it a truly unique venue. Staff are also very pleasant with their service.

Tested out the new delivery model - worked well and was delivered within the 45 minute window we were told..Food arrived warm and was tasty. We shared hushpuppies, butternut squash mac and cheese as well as their special chimichanga with rice and salad. Excellent craft beer selection and we added two to our order

It is a good restaurant, with great vegetarian options! My first meal choice (fried cheese taco) had ended, then I asked for the hamburguer and it was good! The beers are awesome, we had a barncat and short finger that was perfect.

Amazing restaurant with amazing food! Had the eggplant parmesan sandwich and the lasagna and both were phenomenal. Their button mushrooms as an appetizer are equally delicious. It's a great place for vegetarians, and refreshing to see when many places don't have expansive vegetarian options. Update: The service was terrible, the staff were arrogant. I came to eat at the restaurant for my friend's birthday dinner. The waitress allowed us to keep the cake in their refrigerator which I thought was quite kind at first, but as the night progressed it became apparent how terrible the service really was. The waitress (who was apparently also the owner) was very pushy and exceptionally rude while taking our orders as well as when serving us. Due to the awful service, we decided not to cut the cake at the restaurant but rather back at home. When we were paying for our meals, the owner made a snide comment about how splitting up the bill was robbing them of their money because she didn't include the gratitude fee (even though the cost of our meals was much greater than the gratitude fee). In addition to this she was also very pushy (and I mean in a physical way) rudely pushing each of us aside after we had paid at the machine. Fed up, I only gave her a 15% tip b/c frankly I don't believe she deserved anymore than that. As I walked away to join my friends, she came up behind me and made some nonsense comment about booking at two restaurants and only giving her a 15% tip. When my friend went to speak to her about her attitude towards us, the women physically began to shove my two friends out of the restaurant, and made a rude comment about how in Canada this is how it works (my friend is from London, UK). It's a shame that the service was so terrible because the food was quite delicious. I suggest the Chef pack up and go to a restaurant where the customers are treated well enough to want to return.

What can I say about the Jane Bond that hasn’t already been shared? It’s Easily the best Vegetarian Restaurant in the area. Their prices are fair and realistic The music is amazing and changes every night. DJs and playlists for all tastes. I like the vibe/lighting/aesthetic of this place but the food itself wasn't anything amazing. I got there CAJUN RED BEAN BURGER and GINGER SESAME SALAD which was fine but nothing special. Had their CRANBERRY ROYALS cocktail which was good.

This place really needs to step up their customer service. The food is great which is why I have tried to go 6 times and have only been successful twice. After showing up multiple times and not getting a table, I've called numerous times to ask in advance if there is room or to make a reservation (which they do not do) I was told there will be no issue getting a table. I drove 30mins there and back just to be told there is no room. I've tried to get take out several times but no one answers the phone, despite them being open. I understand it is difficult with covid, and they only have one staff working , but I don't appreciate being told we are gaurentees a table just to waste my gas and time to be turned away at the door. Tonight is the last time I will ever try to get food from this place. It is a shame because the food was so good. Please improve your service and communication.

This is the only valid bar in Waterloo. 50 is $5.75, the staff are super nice and the DJ has good taste in music. I go here all time but I've never tried the food. I'm sure it's lovely just like everything else here. The only issue is that this place isn't closer to my house.

I didnt even know this place existed (as I am not from the area) but I went there with a friend. Its so COOL inside!! I enjoyed it! I wanted to try something different (in terms of beer) and our bartender suggested an amazing beer- so grateful for that. When I went there was a DJ playing 80s. Overall! such a great time!

Jane Bond is my absolute favourite place in all of KW. I have been going here as long as I've lived here and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere, food, drinks, and service are always fantastic. My husband and I had our first anniversary here and we celebrate it every year. This year we had Mel as our server and she was absolutely amazing. She really went above and beyond. If you haven't been here yet and you want some vegetarian comfort food and a great time I highly recommend it!

Jane Bond has a special place in our hearts from that teenage angst 90’s early 00’ meets 80’s flair Jane Bond is a vibe . Worth a trip uptown for their patio , indoor aesthetic, beers and variety of drinks to cheer up the night and when dancing is happening it’s a real treat to let loose. Don’t be fooled by the small space off of King st it really makes the vibe all that more appealing keeping the wannabe cool kids on the main strip. This is a place for hanging out with friends , maybe meeting a life long stranger turned BFF or just a place to chill back listen to a live DJ play vibing tunes . oh , their food … delcious , vegetarian options. Pretty good vegetarian place offering good, flavorful food made with care. Decent selection of beer which the servers seemed to have a good level of knowledge about. Atmosphere was nice, music wasn't too loud and the washrooms were clean. Not sure on pricing as I didn't buy my own dinner but the but the menu looked reasonable.

Oh man, Jane Bond. As a strict meat eater, I absolutely love this place. While the food isn't my cup of tea, the atmosphere, staff, and prices more than make up for it. The music is fantastic. The outdoor patio is small but lovely. The staff are supremely nice and friendly. 4 shots of tequila, and two mixed drinks came out to $30 with tax. The prices are very reasonable here!

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Uptown Waterloo. The atmosphere is unique and a little cozy. Patio is quite small. Lots of great Vegan food to choose from, our favorite being the cashew burger, best vegan burger we have ever had. They have a large selection of drinks, so come even just for a drink!

This is a gem in the rubble of time! Host to many kinds of bands (indie also), small quirky little events, and fabulous little surprises along the way all year! I don't get to attend much here, but every time I do I am never disappointed. Last time I was there, I got to meet the birthday boy's gal first, then him. Both were great people, and I loved meeting them. Friendly staff is also always a bonus. With or without friends, I gladly return here any time. (^&^)
