I ordered food for delivery, they sent the delivery service to the wrong address. Food was cold, took an hour because the driver was not given proper instructions. Delivery is and extra $6 but that wasn’t even the issue, the problem was the fact my order was missing items. They use an external delivery service, I have used this delivery service many times and it is not on them by any means. The restaurant is at fault. The Gravy was forgotten. $3 up charge for onion ring & then portions were very uneven. One meal received 6 onions rings. Chipotle sauce wasn’t great. The shire is an affordable place for breakfast, but skip the lunch and dinner because everything is over priced. Don’t pay to add any extras you will not receive them. I am not one to leave reviews but this service was beyond awful. Receipt attached for reference.

We were in the area and asked a local where to get a good breakfast and this place was suggested. The service was very good but the breakfast average. Deep fried plain home fries, deep fried sausage but the toast was nice and thick.

Usually a great experience but a little disappointed this time. I understand that it can get busy but out waitress was MIA and our drinks were empty. A few at our table were less than excited about the meal itself. I will still return but hoping that night was just a one off.

The Shire There were 4 in our party. One elderly member had certain food allergies and the waitress was very accommodating to her needs. We got in immediately, the waitress was available right away. I had the all day Hobit breakfast for supper. Eggs, toast potates, bacon, ham and sausages. It was filling and I enjoyed it. Others had pasta dishes and the quantity was, they could only eat half and took the remainder home.

We had dinner here with my husband and our four kids.the portion is ok my kids get fish and chips.. the fish was too oily and covered to a thick flour.My husband said his steak was cold and tough .while potatoes was sizzling hot..Its a disappointment for a first visit. Wish they have paper and crayons for the little ones bec 1hr and 15 mins waiting for a 5yo and 4yo is a long wait.

Their coupon I had said “25% off total food bill valid after 5pm one coupon per person” the owner said it was only good for one meal not our bill as it was two persons. Which I have used this coupon there before but now they didn’t want to honour. Will not go back. False advertising

We were there for supper this evening and it is a shame there is no flexibility on pricing. My husband didn’t want a lot to eat so asked if he could just have a piece of fish but no French fries. When the bill came they charged for a whole order of fish and chips. He should have ordered the whole thing and just left the fries which he didn’t want. He didn’t want to waist the food but they did not give him a break on the price. It just doesn’t seem fair.

Stopped here for lunch. Very nice restaurant and right on the main street of Simcoe. Food was very good, we both had a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich. More than ample portions! Very nice décor.

Absolutely amazing meal and service! Ordered the Shire Burger. When it arrived I had to dig through a pile of really good onion rings to find the actual burger but it was soooooo worth it. Like finding buried treasure this burger was a very pleasant surprise, not to mention ginormous. Topped with a generous heap of grilled meat on top of the patty to boot. In short, excellence service, great atmosphere and massive portions.

The food was very good at The Shire but having "brewpub" in the name felt like false advertising. The Shire certainly does not brew it's own beer (although ironically there were brewing vats as decoration), the most exotic beer they had was Guinness in a can not even on tap.

We stayed at Travelodge so thought of trying out Shire as it is in the same building. Not sure if it was because of covid, the food was utter disappointment. We just took a bite and asked for boxes. Try it if you are adventurous.

Have eaten here many times both for eat-in and take out. Pro's - Very friendly, engaged owner - Very nice staff - Interesting viewing area of brewery for the interior decor - Menu is very big and would appeal to most tastes (something for everyone) - Large restaurant if you have larger functions with a bar area as well - LOVE that they bring you a whole kettle of Hot water if you order tea or full of coffee if your'e drinking coffee! This eliminates the need for service and keeps customers happy, good move! Con's - Length of TIME : No matter if it seems busy or slow, this place requires at least over an hour to even come in for a lunch. - While the place brews it's own beer (super cool!) this aspect is really toned down because the restaurant seems to draw in more of a "breakfasty-brunch" - type crowd. Would love to see the decor fully take a plunge one way or the other, it seems like it wants to be a family friendly- breakfast /lunch type of joint that has a distillery stuck in the middle of it, and on the flip side, there's a lack lustre bar and really cool distillery system on display in a dining area that is really serving mainly eggs and lunch specials. Maybe a challenge for the New Year! Food always arrives in big portions but would rather see this place focus on quality vs. quantity. Decor could be updated! It's been a while :)

I think this a reliable place. Breakfast is solid BUT I miss the italian sausage option for a meat choice. That was the best.... bring that back. Hamburgers are pretty big. Lose 1 star because I don't think it sit well that day... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as I've never heard of anyone getting sick there. Fish and chips... 1 filet was enough... was pretty good. Club sandwich is good. Would be 4/5 if I didn't have that one rough day after eating the burger.

I was really pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The restaurant is inside the hotel but it sure didn’t disappoint me. I had steak and wings with a Caesar salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cut was good. The wings were tasty. The service was attentive and quick. The food arrived quickly. The patio was in direct sunlight and they had one umbrella which the server placed to shade us from the sun. It was very good service. I would recommend this place.

My family and I had a not so pleasant experience when I returned my burnt and overdone burger and had the manager try to explain that she was willing to take 15% off my meal while rolling her eyes as if I did something wrong! I told her that I do not want another burger made after we were all done our meal because I do not return food (seen too many examples of what happens when people return food). This manager had no customer service empathy, nor did she care to listen to me in front of my wife and children when I tried to explain the situation. Our server agreed and was very understanding to what occurred with my meal. Please train your manager! We stayed at a cottage in Simcoe and we were with a large group of people, and It was our first time in Simcoe! The experience was not pleasant, we will never return to this poorly run establishment and hope this manager learns how to deal better with people that come in looking for a great meal or experience with their hard earned money! Feeling disappointed would be an understatement!

This is a really great place to get breakfast. They have a wide variety of options and as a lover of Eggs Benedict they have plenty to choose from. The prices are reasonable. There is often quite a few other people whenever I visit. They have large comfortable booths as well. I have been once for dinner and was less than impressed but that was so long ago and the breakfast has been so good I will try it again.

Was looking for a bite after a day out at Turkey Point with my girlfriend. Pulled up The Shire and the reviews looked great. Pulled up to the spot and I was a little disappointed because it was connected to a hotel — I have a negative bias with hotel restaurants for whatever reason. However, the food was great and they had lots of craft brews to choose from (mostly Railway City Brewing Co. from St. Thomas, ON if you're familiar). They were out of some items we wanted but what we got was very good. No gripes with the spot at all!

I totally forgot to take a picture, but the food, when presented, looked amazing! The burger was huge (my husband laughed at me while I tried to get my mouth around it). I have eaten at The Shire many times and always look forward to their burger and poutine and would rate their food as five star food every other time I have been there. However, the reason for the four star review this time is that the burger had a slightly off taste, almost like there was too much of a spice in there or something (it tasted almost like a smokey nutmeg?) and the gravy on the poutine was blander than normal. Every person/restaurant can have bad days so I will definitely go back again because their food has always been delicious prior to this evening (October 23). I highly recommend their breakfast dishes and their appetizer menu has something for everyone!

Breakfast is always great here. Love the food and the atmosphere. Sometimes it can be pretty busy and it's a bit of a wait, but that's not their fault, that happens anywhere decent. A bit of a shame the "Hungry Hobbit" was renamed to the "Hungry Choice."

Also if you want to go a little further, they have a bar, with all sorts of alchohol. They even brew their own beer. I haven't tasted any of that beer so I'm un aware of the quality, but I've only heard positive reviews

Had breakfast here on a Saturday morning. We had good service, it wasn't very busy. Lots of selection on their menu. There was 6 different types of eggs Benedict! The food was very good and traditional breakfast food. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice sit down breakfast.

Sadly there prices have increased substantially and the service was less than good with a waitress that totally messed up both our orders and then proceeded to argue with us that we were wrong not her(strike one)...she did semi fixed our order but made a point of telling us that fixing it was at her expense(strike two)... One the bright side their food is tasty its to bad the place use to be busy on this occasion it was 5pm and there was three table and ours(public strike three)... Management might look at making some changes doing some customer service training etc to save what was a good eatery ...just sayin!!!

Have only been here for breakfast but both times have been pretty good. My favorite part is they will leave a carafe of coffee at your table so you don't have to wait for the waitress to come by and refill. The food has been good both times. Only complaint is the home fries could use a bit of seasoning, good thing there is salt at the table.

Food is medicore at best and the selection is poor. I will not return. The chicken alfredo was not made with cream and the noodles and chicken were essentially sitting in a bowl of water. Absolutely disgusting.

Great food and great service! I have an 18 month old and it was amazing to see a cup that he could tilt and wouldn't spill all over the place. They even had a prize for him at the end of the meal. Super impressed as a mom. It would have been nice if their highchairs had a tray since my son is pretty small. But that is a small complaint considering.

Zero stars after tonight. Will NEVER eat here again. My son ordered 2lbs of wings. The first 2 were pink close to the bone. The 3rd one was bloody. We called over our server and she offered my son something else to eat. Came time to pay and they actually charged us for the wings. I questioned our server about it and she said sorry he wouldn't let me take them off.

Best breaky in town! They have a wide variety of egg benedict, which is to die for :P Fairly consistent with great customer service, excellent lunch and dinner options as well. My husband and I love coming here :) Update on a new menu dinner special: just had the best wonton soup I have ever had!! There is a new Chinese chef, fresh authentic wonton and oh my goodness, to die for!! Salads were 100% fresh and everything was just delicious!

Amazing patio experience! Stopped into the Shire for lunch on the patio. Our server was amazing. The food was great, portions were huge price was reasonable. Only one downside, I was hoping for a brew on site brew pub. They no longer do that sadly. Otherwise everything was great!

The menu is huge! It's hard to chose and it makes you wonder how fresh all the food is if there's so much of it kept in stock. But overall it's ok, nice patio and friendly staff.

I gave it a 4 out of 5. This is strictly based of the specific food item I ordered. I ordered chicken n waffle that's has a chipotle maple glaze sauce, I felt there was barely any chipotle and more maple glaze in the sauce. On a good side the chicken was great (not the southern style) but I was satisfied. Waffle was good as well. Now my colleagues order a salmon dish which he mentioned was little over cooked. My other colleague ordered beef dip which he was happy with but according to him mash potatoes were not tasty. Now let's get to service. This is where this place always have complaints based on other yelpers and it was true! Our food server didn't even tell us any daily specials although half way through - another component server was telling other customers. After over hearing the other server for daily specials we agreed that we could have ordered from the daily specials. Beside that the server has absolute no smile on her face, which I don't care about but when you are in service n hospitality industry it a nice to have some sort of reaction on your face. I do my best to write honest reviews. This is just a simple effort for restaurant owners to improve and modify their service and food quality structure in order to achieve success in a very competitive restaurant market. Good luck!

My husband and I came here for dinner and drinks and it was excellent. All staff followed Covid-19 protocols, and multiple hand sanitizer stations were available. The restaurant was very clean and had a cozy pub feel to it. We ordered the chicken fingers and chicken caesar wrap- both were amazing! Highly recommend this place!

Everything is good. Girlfriend tried to get the fajitas without onions and was told no. Went to Kelsey's later in the week and they had no problem serving it without onions and they gave her more peppers. Other than that the food is good and the service is excellent.

The Shire food is delicious! Karen had the Clubhouse with side Cesar Salad. The sandwich was so big she took the salad home for dinner. I had the Old Montreal Sandwich (Montreal smoked meat) with sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed our sandwiches very much and are looking forward to our next Shire lunch. A side note: If you like sweet potato fries I highly recommend you order them from The Shire. In my opinion they are the best sweet potato fries in Norfolk County!! I love my sweet potato fries.

It was absolutely marvelous being able to get in a restaurant after an over a month long lockdown. I had eggs, easy over, rye toast with caraway seeds , home fries, Montreal smoked beef off the grill. A big pot of coffee. Thank you Lord!

This was our first and last time at this place. At 7 pm Fri 1.29.16. Both of use ordered the $9.99 all day breakfast. Trust me when I say, I did not want to complain but it just went from bad to worse. Ordered onions with our home fries but did not come with them. Waitress did bring some later after we mentioned it to her. Noticed right away that the bacon, sausage, bacon and ham was smothered in grease but I did not want to say anything as it was the first time that my friend picked a restaurant. I started on my pancake and there was a very strange taste like flour or something in the pancake. I picked a little at the top to see if maybe the inside was not cooked well and the whole top separated from the bottom. Strange. Bye then my friend was complaining to me that there was too much grease on her food and I was happy that it was not just me that found this to be true. I know if I had a restaurant I would appreciate it if a customer took the time to explain that something was not right so I decided to tell the waitress about the Pancake and she replied that they sell lots of Pancakes and no complaints. Mt friend wanted Bread Pudding so we ordered one to share. OMG! It was HORRIBLE! Looked like they just took a loaf of bred and dipped it in milk or even water as there was no taste at all. The waitress said it was the last piece. HORRIBLE. Never again. We do not have much money as we both live on a challenging income but do like to go out once a month and now we just wasted $30.00 on garbage.

The size of the the food portions were awesome but it would have been nice to have the food cooked instead of being raw. Also, customers do not want to hear slamming and yelling from the kitchen while they are waiting for their food

Better than the Kelsey's that used to be here. For breakfast it's pretty alright but it used to be better about a year ago I think. Still one of the better breakfast spots in Simcoe though. Haven't had a chance to try their brews yet either.

Decent little restaurant. It is attached to the travelodge on the main strip in Simcoe. Seems to be a good local breakfast spot. I am not sure how it is in the evening, but it was very busy at lunch and people were willing to wait. The service was very good and the menu plentiful. The breakfast I chose was pretty basic, I should have splurged or tried lunch as it looked incredible! The fish and chips are HUGE! One piece was enough for 2 and apparently very good. The onion rings I hear are also very good! Overall great place for a quick breakfast or even a few drinks. They had a nice bar area!

INCREDIBLE! Scratch made dishes, huge portions, and everything (really, everything!) was absolutely scrumptious. And the prices can't be beat on top of it all. Staff was also super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a place to eat, stop - you need search no further - come here!

Came here for breakfast with friends. Seated promptly and drink orders were taken just after we were seated. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Only downfall was server didnt return to see how our food was.

The food took a long time to come out - more than twenty minutes. No apology from the server when the food finally did come and she didn't check on us once during our meal to see if we needed anything or to see if everything was alright. That's a service standard that wasn't met. Otherwise it was fine.

Last meal i had there, the home fries were cut up unseasoned french fries and the toast was burnt on both sides...not crispy, black & burnt. Hopefully they have better staff now.

Our favourite place in town to go for breakfast! The food is always fresh and hot. The carafe of coffee they leave for you on the table is perfect so you don't have to wait for anyone to come and top off your cup. A lot of the servers have been there for a long time and are always pleasant. Highly recommend that you pay them a visit!

The shire has amazing staff with good service and friendliness. Really good food and portions as well. Small bar area located on site across from dining lounge for evening fun, lots of craft beers on tap. It has a nice relaxing feel over all and is good place to eat or just hang out on the bar side for drinks. Enjoy!!

Today would have been so much better if there hadn't been a group of people that were sooooo loud and the children so unruly (screaming) they literally ruined other patrons lunch. We asked to be moved to the other side just so we could hear our own conversations. The food was good and the service was good. We all agreed the management should have asked them to tone it down a bit

Popped in for breakfast the other day for the first time. Good breakfast! I had bacon and eggs with home fries and toast. My husband tried the BLT sandwich and the omelet sandwich. He said both were good! The omelet was stacked pretty good in there!! Coffee wasnt the greatest but we're used to Starbucks....so it's hard to find good coffee now. The service was excellent and the server was very friendly!! Food came out fast and hot and they are practicing good social distancing rules!! Will definitely be going back!!
