Amazing local business. Most staff are incredible and helpful. Wide selection of in-store brews and, should you dislike one, the staff are more than willing to find you one that fits. Food is even better with multiple selections that are cooked to perfection. Love the burgers but, on days where I'm feeling spontaneous, I have never been disappointed. Love this place!

First time visitor to the Blue Elephant and really enjoyed it. Our waitress Nicki was fantastic in making sure that my friend and I were taken care of. We enjoyed our flight of beers we ordered with a great selection and the food was very good as well. Nicki even went beyond the call of duty by helping me repair not one, but both of my shoes ???? as the soles came off of both of them. Nicki brought out a bottle of gorilla glue to help me glue my soles back on. A bizzar situation to say the least and a good thing I had a second pair of shoes in my truck. Thanks Nicki for all your help as my friend M can't stop laughing about the situation.

One server was great, we had the other one. Extremely slow service, in fact, a couple came and left because of it. The other server had food on the table before we were even asked for our order. My meal was good, liver and onions. My wife's 'prime rib special' looked and tasted like a can of meat and potatoes stew. The fish and chips looked really good.

OMG!! So first time going and to be honest I didn't have high expectations with their mix of foods (English pub fare, pub fare, Thai food). BUT it was amazing!!! I ordered their Thai appetizer for 2, so good because they put all the sauces on the side and let you mix and match as you liked! The cranberry sauce for the coconut shrimp blew my mind, it's definitely not a combination I would have thought would have gone together but thanks for expanding my mind and my taste buds on that one. I enjoyed their Tom Kan soup too however I thought it was a little small for the $5.99 price tag. I also liked that they had craft beers and was sad to be the DD this time because I really wanted to try their peach ale. Especially since I'm not much of beer drinker at all. I'll be going there again

I always receive a good value when I go to the Blue Elephant. The meals are basic but well done and for a good price. I tend to be pretty boring and always order fish and chips and my husband gets a hamburger but he also always orders a local craft beer which he thoroughly enjoys. We are regulars at this restaurant.

First time visit for take-out. Standard email reply is " your food will be ready in about 30 mins". I always give a little extra time so i don't have to sit around. This time I gave 50 mins as i had to pick up a pizza on the way. I showed up and the food wasn't ready. I paid and tipped 15% as I'm told they're just "bagging it up". After countless people pick up their orders I get mine after waiting an additional 25 minutes. A little honesty goes along way.. Simply say the food hasn't been started yet if this is the case and I'm in most cases happy to wait.. Fortunately the food was good but the experience out weights the positive in this case. Not sure if we will return, at least not in the near future

Love Love Love the food.!!!!! My fiance and I were location scouting for our destination wedding venues near here decided to stop by for lunch and dinner the second time we came back into town. The food is good we paid a lot of money but it was soo worth it. You have to try their beers. They even sell it next door. I wish we bought a whole case. My favourite menu item was the Almond salad with camermaalized chicken. My fiance and I wanted to hire them for our wedding because they have a catering menu as well and do cater off site. It also had the best catering menu we saw out of many caterering menus across Ontario. Sadly, we had to fire our wedding venue we booked, and move our wedding closer to my family. We are sad that we won't be eating their tasty food on our wedding night but it won't be the last time we go there. We will probably use them for our bachorlette party or something in the near future. Heather ( the owner) is nothing but amazing about getting back to you and answering all your questions. No this review is not sponsored. I have worked in many professional kitchens and restaurant. I know a good restaurant when I see one. Everything thing from their Front of House Staff service to their food was nothing but excellent!!!! Food came out hot and on time and their presentation was excellent. Check this place out even if you are just passing through simco ON. You won't be sorry!

Regrettably, I had a friend who seemed to love this place. He often suggested that we lunch there. Not once was I able to finish my lunch, so bad was the food. Supposedly the back story is this. She, a local girl, travelled to Thailand and there fell in love with a Thai man. They married, returned to Simcoe and opened the Blue Elephant. She ran the front while he handled the kitchen. When the marriage failed and he departed, the kitchen went to hell in a handbasket. I don't know how much of this is true, except that to this day the food is terrible. But the beer is okay, thus the two star rating.

This is a full on brew pub with the stainless steel tanks and all. A bit of a surprise for the size of the town. Anyway had the fish and chips (pickerel); 5 out of 5. GF had tenderloin pot pie said it was exceptional. Being from TO we compare it to the Roy in Leslieville and the place surpassed on both meal counts. Wait staff also very good / professional. Will definitely stop in again when down this way. Hint: recommend the beer flight to sample most of their beers. Settled on the Pilsener PS a 5 star rating is rare for me.

I've been an avid patron of Blue Elephant for their craft beer until today. In the past an issue has never come up about their growler costs but today I discovered that when you buy a growler of beer, the extra cost of the growlers is not a deposit. I had purchased 5 growlers of beer back around Christmas, assuming I could return them for deposit cost later (estimated around an extra $25). Today I brought them in to return for deposit credit and to go back down to having one growler to trade. I was informed that I could only trade for trade and could not get credit for returning growlers. Every single other craft beer brewery I've went to has given growlers as a deposit that can be redeemed if desired. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with 4 extra growlers as I'm not about to ever have a need of 5 growlers of beer at any given time not to mention the cost (and if I had been informed of this, I likely would have gotten a keg instead), so they're in the recycling as I have no desire to keep any as souvenirs like I do with others. The beer is great but given the service I received today, I will not be returning in the future. It's not worth the drive from Cambridge.

We came based on the Google reviews and were unpleasantly surprised. There was nothing terribly wrong with the food, but also nothing right. The big soft pretzel we had as an app was clearly microwaved - but not for long enough that it wasn't cold in the centre. The beer/cheese dip was pretty good, but the marinara had been microwaved within an inch of its life (as could be seen from the microwave spatters all over the top of the ramekin). The burger came with a huge pile of peameal, but with a lack of sauce, it was dry. The pesto and tomato grilled cheese had good flavours, but since it was grilled with no butter on the outside, it too was dry, dry, dry. The fries were the ones you get from Burger King, from frozen with the added crust on the outside. Gross. On the plus side, service was great. I tend to find microbrew pubs put the same care, thought and from scratch attitude into their food as they do their brews. This is definitely not the case here.

Burger was good! Pad tai not so much, sauce tasted more like salty stir fry. Was really hoping to be blown away by the beer but I found them to be a quite underwhelming flavour wise. I tried the tasting flight, IPA wasn't even slightly hoppy. Service was good.

Previously worked in the kitchen about 4 years ago! Great friendly staff, and if you're in the mood for a great wing special, check out Tuesday evenings! Brewery has a limited selection of house beers, some of which are quite flavorful, others seem watery with dull sensations to tye pallet. Overall, would recommend this as a good place to eat

Very nice open atmosphere (mostly a sports bar with a separated front area for more intimate dining). Washroom was clean. Ordered Greek salad with chicken. Everything was fresh but the iceberg portions in the salad could have been been pre-cut into smaller pieces. Was not expecting so much iceberg lettuce (65 %) considering a Greek salad should be predominantly Romaine. The chicken looked like it was a day old and it was slightly, but not completely dry. Had I ordered just the Greek salad it was $12+tax. They charged $6 to add a piece of chicken breast. Salad was overall tasty. Would go again to try something else.

A Philly does not go on a dinner roll and since you want to block my comment from your Facebook page you can have it here. It looks more like a baked potato and clearly an embarrassment. As a chef I would never serve such garbage. Server never came to check. I paid for it and ate it anyway and won’t be back. Shameful you charge $15 for a dinner roll with a small serving of meat and cheese on it.

Eclectic brewpub that looks like they had visions of franchising, but the phones never lit up. Empty beer bottles on shelves everywhere. Odd dining space, dated and discombobulated. Could do with a refresh. Lovely building and front garden though. Apparently the strawberry lager is award winning, but the pint I got was flat and sour. Did not expect Friuli, but this was a disappointing draught. Grilled cheese w peameal was overly dry and cheese nowhere near melted thoroughly. Fries were pedestrian.

Always a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Great rotational beers. My favourite is the angry elephant burger (I've had it with a beef burger once then with chicken next - both amazing). Staff is always friendly even on takeout and I can't wait for lockdown to end so I can sit out on the patio.

Their system glitched and we paid the price. They didn't receive a portion of our order and when we called to ask about the missing items, we were called liars and that we didn't order what we claimed was missing. We had to bring proof of our order back to the restaurant before they would fix it. So, by the time we got our entire order, most of it was cold by the time we were able to eat it. So, if you want to be called a liar and have to jump through hoops to get your food, feel free to order from Blue Elephant.

First off, The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was fantastic. There was a large variety on the menu, including options for people with dietary restrictions. I got the greek wrap with a side garden salad, It was fantastic! The wrap was so large, I took the other half home with me. I am from out of town, but If I happen to find myself in the Simcoe area, I would definitely return.

It was nice to sit on the patio during the heatwave and the service was excellent (hence the 2 stars) but the food surpassed my worst expectations - it was not good. Everything seemed un-fresh and the fries were limp - even frozen bag fries, cooked in the oven, would have been better. Sorry because this is a local place and I'd rather support local but in this time period when money is generally tight, I just can't with this. If I'm going to be spending $70 on a meal, I want it to be fresh and tasty. We went to BP a few days before and their food was surprisingly better even though they're a chain. if you watch Kitchen Nightmares, it has excellent advice - cut down on the menu items and make sure all items are freshly prepared, not from frozen. People will go there. Look at the Combine/Lago for an example!

We go there often and enjoy the craft beer and the food. The outside patio is a quaint place to enjoy with someone. Very relaxing atmosphere and very friendly service. If you go then the one recommendation is to try the Thai egg rolls with sweet chili dipping sauce. So stinking good! They are addicting.

I'd say that restaurant is more appropriate as it's more about food than the beer here, although there's about 10 beers they make in giuse. The food menu is quite large! I was speaking to the server about the 5 beers I saw on the menu, but it turned out they have at least 10 house brews but the server didn't think to bring us the beer menu. The food was ok. Had a flight if their house beers and a burger. The burger was really well cooked and seasoned. So nice to have a restaurant burger that isn't grilled into oblivion. The beer on the other hand was not very good at all. All sorts of off flavours and the "IPA" had next to no hop flavour. They need to work on their brewing process.

excited to try this place since we own a very successful cafe in the area. When we arrived to the restaurant it was empty other then the group of eight elderly people to our right which smelled like moffballs and raw onions....We had our 3 year old daughter with us and they turned down and told to go sit at the bar. This place sucks don't waste your time. Not child friendly Ugly decor Rude staff We also also called back five minutes to see if they had availability and they said they where wide open. Not a smart move they discriminated on a little person and royally pissed my wife off who is a successful doctor in the area! Not smart!

Not sure what happened w/ the kitchen staff or whether they had inexperienced cooks on a slower Monday night, b/ we had a very poor experience. We ordered nachos for an appetizer. Peculiar that they used round nachos b/ that they did not melt the cheese very well; lower layer was fridge-cold. We sent it back to reheat; no big issue. It came back a bit better melted on top b/ lower layer was the same; still cold. The waitress hadn't come back so I brought it inside (we were on the patio) to show her again. She then brought it out a third time with way overcooked soup of cheese. I said "a bit overkill, don't you think?" My son's burger was obviously sitting under the heat lamp as his bun was crusty toasted. Server never came back to check w/ us, ask us if we wanted another beer, nothing. Such a shame. Service was fair. They did not have a menu/listing of craft beers on tap. Server had trouble listing them. She finally came out w/ a list (bartender's?). We requested to see a manager b/ no one ever came out. She still wanted to charge full price then half price of the nachos as "we had eaten some". I was not going to get into a discussion about the burger. Sadly, this was my son's birthday and it was supposed to be a great night. I told the server of his birthday and she said they didn't do anything. Really?? A huge disappointment. Definitely won't be going back nor referring anyone.

Im normally a big fan of this restaurant but tonight’s meal was borderline horrible. I got the “homemade” individual beef pot pie. As a takeout dish it was simply a tin of beef and gravy with what appeared to be a thin slice of naan bread on top. Beyond that the beef and gravy had a taste and texture similar to Campbells Beef Stew. If you don’t want to do beef don’t do it. Every other meal I’ve had at the Blue Elephant has been fantastic and what I ate tonight was inedible.

Went there today, was disappointed. Been here a few times and it is usually quite good, today was not one of those times. The restaurant was not very busy. My wife ordered medium heat, Pad Thai, I had Lunch in a Bowl, hot and spicy, plus an order of fries. The fries did come, but after I sent the Lunch Bowl back. My lunch in a bowl was awful. The broth tasted like they ran out of broth so they had to water down what they had left to fill the bowl. No sign of any spice, I MEAN NONE. The dish should come to the table ready seasoned, this was wimpy, in the extreme. I refused the Siracha sauce the waitress offered me. The chicken was all stuck together In the broth so I had a heck of a time to get it put of the bowl, I gave up. Sharpen the knife guys! The veg was very hard, and as much as I like veg, even Broccoli, I do not like the sliced stalks in my food, they should be in the recycling bin. My wife's Pad Thai, came and it too was wimpy, no spice at all. My wife was not expecting to have her mouth burned, but she did want some spice. When we got home, I tried the left over Pad and she was correct, there was no spice. I told the waitress it was not acceptable and she said she would take my lunch bowl off the bowl, she actually took off the wife's Pad, instead of my Lunch Bowl. We will probably go again because we know they can do better.

Well i looked at the menu ahead of time which has something for everyone and i decided on the meat pie with mashed taters and greens. I have had pie from many places but this pie the meat was chewy lots of veg not much meat with a thin square piece of pastry on top. My son had stir fry which came quite a bit later then our party of sixes orders. We all felt our meals were just ok. The craft beer was good and a nice atmosphere inside and patio outside. The server was polite, helpful and apologized for the late meal served. If in the area again i may give it a try again for a beverage outside.

Certainly drinkable, but one would expect a brew pub to do a little better than that. They have Keith's and Rickards Red on tap as well as their own beers.
