Great scotch selection, but every time I go, I find the live music to be way too loud. I don't to a bar to sit quietly and listen to music, I go to enjoy a drink and converse with friends. Not often possible here. Turn the music down 4 or 5 notches and this would be a great place!

Meh? I don't really see the appeal of this bar. I guess you really have to love live music that's way too loud for the venue size. The bartenders are slow and clueless - unless you order a beer. The music is always obnoxiously loud - it's impossible to have a conversation here. They do try to get in local/starting bands, which is nice. I just can't say I ever enjoy going here.

As a large man with wide shoulders I've always felt "in the way" at this bar. Plus the beer is usually a little on the pricey side. Not my kinda atmosphere.

Lop Lops is THE place to go for drinks in the Sault. Wide selction of beers, live music, cosy and warm but lively atmosphere. They don't focus on food here.

Lop lops is a great bar and a staple of Sault Ste. Marie. I love that they have rotating art from local artists. I'm always impressed with the selection of scotch, beer and cider that they have. Lops lops is also known for bringing in great musicians and bands. Lots of seating and a fun little dance floor.

I'll start with the good considering there isn't a lot. The live music was fantastic and that's really about it. The drink selection was vast but very expensive. I'm not usually one who cares if I pay a few extra bucks for a nice cold one but in this case it was comparable to drinking at the Air Canada Center. I'm talking a solid 9$ for a Rolling Rock not including tip. Service was average at best and no home brew witch was the least I expected from what seemed to be a gastropub.

Loplops has "Bad Idea Thursday" every week where for $9.25 you can get a gourmet personal pizza and a craft beer. Its always a great time.

I stopped in for the Thursday pizza & pint special, and was quite happy with the pizza, the selection of beer on tap, and the atmosphere. I will probably go again for a Thursday evening!

The place is a gem, and features lots of Canadian music acts of many styles. Get the bartenders talking about the various acts that have played there, you'll feel the atmosphere come alive. If that doesn't work, there's an Amazing variety of Scotch & Whiskey, as well as a great beer selection: support the local brew crew by choosing Outspoken ale or lager, great flavour and taste. Some wine, but not huge. Best to check out their website and time your visit ( if at all possible) to match up with live music. But even without live performers, a great place to relax and chat.

Of the few bars in the Sault, Loplops is my favourite. The beer selection is good (if expensive), the Scotch selection is excellent, and the place has a nice intimate feel to it. It's also the only place in the Sault that holds some really good music. As a venue, there are some hit and miss artists, but when the artist is a hit, the air becomes electric. Something to note is that it is a place that is easy to miss. The front isn't all too obvious.

Just went there yesterday, it's seems like a decent place in most ways but they don't serve food and they don't have a beer menu which I found to be disapointing. A menu would have been really good because if you come from away like myself you don't know the local beers and need a menu to know what to get and also when it's loud in there it's impossible to talk to the bartender and find out what kind of beers they have that I want. Also the beer is very pricey, I paid $9 for a single beer! That's outrageous considering you can go to the store and get a six pack for like $14.
