Unfortunately, I have had a very disappointing experience with Dynmayx Gymnastics this winter session. We have been going to the facility for 5 years since my oldest was 2 years old. He is now 7 and enrolled in the Can Gym program but did go through the preschool program first. My middle is 5 years old this year and is enrolled in an evening preschool class. I find the quality of instructors has declined year after year at Dynamyx yet the price for classes continues to climb. This session my son has had a different instructor every week for the last 5 weeks and has had no consistency in the class in terms of what they do or even how they behave. When my oldest was in the preschool program 5 years ago, he had great instructors who knew the kids well and what their strengths and weaknesses were. The instructor worked every week to ensure they were practicing things properly and to assist them in learning proper behaviour in class and on the equipment. None of that has happened with my middle son this session or even over the past few sessions at Dynmayx. Even with my older son who is now in the Can-Gym program, his instructor last session was awful with the kids. She seemed bored the whole class and her only interactions with the kids were getting upset when they didn't do something correctly. In addition, the gym has grown and grown in enrollment over the past five years which has lead to extreme over crowding in the evenings and weekends. The kids cannot even move from the areas they are training in for fear they will get trampled by the older more competitive kids. That combined with an absolutely horribly dangerous parking situation, makes me not ever want to attend on the evenings or weekends again. I will say the parented program for my youngest (a toddler) has been really good. The difference is the quality of instructors. She has an instructor that is older and has been there for a number of years. If you have to attend on a weekend or evening where you would not get one of the experience instructors, and deal with the parking disaster, it would not be worth it. I am hoping Dynamyx can make some considerable improvements with their over crowding problem and quality of instructors for the fall. If not, I look forward to trying another gym in St. Albert or area.
