Very disappointing evening out with family. Our main waitress was rude and provided poor service. The amount of inappropriate behaviors is too long to bother listing. We waited over 1 and a half hours for pretty basic order, then was told it was our fault due to our choice of food. Others who came in later were getting food before us. Also one of our orders was not correct. The manager told us it was busy but there was lots of empty tables near us??? Will never go back!!!.

We made our way out to Hunter's Ale House this weekend and we got one of the last tables! Got some chowder to start because there's been some good reviews about it.. It was great and definitely would recommend! The Fish and Chips uses Rickard's Red Ale in the batter and I really enjoyed that. Also, pictured is the Louisiana Fire Chicken Sandwich with an upgraded poutine. The jalapeños on the sandwich were powerful and a bit overwhelming but the gravy on the poutine had a nice meaty flavour and was a definite 10/10. We will be back! Great service.

Very fresh seafood with a good selection of beers and generous portions. Nice patio area and live bands at night. This place serves food late night while most other pubs in the area do not. Excellent and very friendly service. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

I loved this restaurant. On a Friday evening we got a table inside almost immediately. Outside tables had a longer wait. The staff were so busy but remained well composed and very friendly. The power had just come back on so the kitchen was a little behind. We had a 40 minute wait for the food but it was so worth it. Lots to choose from the menu with many real Vegatarian and Vegan options for one of our party. Portions were large and very good. I have no problem recommending this restaurant and their staff.

The food was ok, the mussels were really good and the wings were nice. Nothing special about the fish and chips. You should probably avoid the steak if you want a good quality one. The chef did very well cooking it, but the quality of the meat isn't top notch. Mediocre. There weren't any pasta on the menu today so I had to get the poutine. It was ok, the steak used was the same kind as the other one. Now let's talk about environment, the waitress was nice, but the washroom needs fixing. Especially the stall, the bolt doesn't match the lock.

The price and quality of the food is ok. But it’s not good to offer a service you’re not able to provide. And to tell a customer he’s not being served because you’re to busy, for my understanding is a no go. The first time I ordered the John Candy steak I was told it needs to be ordered 24h in advance, which I did the second time. But more than 3h after I ordered online I received a massage that my order can’t be fulfilled next day.

Full disclosure - I didn't get to eat here. We waited at the entrance for someone to seat us. A server came by and in a matter-of-fact tone, told us "We don't have any seats available - and I can't tell you when we'll have anything available. You're welcome to wait." No thanks. With this kind of customer service, I'd rather not give you my business.

Hunter's is exactly what it advertises. A great place to get big portions of reasonably priced food. Not claiming to be fine dining, rather a fantastic anytime-eatery! This is my go-to place for relaxed date nights, girls' nights, and family outings! My curry nachos were very tasty! I got the regular size and couldn't finish them. Lots of toppings, tasty curry, and big chunks of chicken made this meal mouth-watering-delicious. Definitely will go again, and will recommend these to everyone!

The staff and service was great! Contrary to what we were told(reviews by others) the poutine was not great. Coagulated gravy, luke warm fries and gravy like everything was just sat under a heat lamp...my sister will return to try it other day. When I return, I will try other foods.

We got the sharing platter and a regular poutine between 3 people and it was all extremely good. I was surprised as I am a picky eater but I ended up enjoying it all immensely. Besides the food the staff themselves were very welcoming and helpful. I truly rate this place 5/5

Wednesday is half price picture and appetizer!m that’s great! However, went and had 2 pictures of beer but when I ordered wings it came after half an hour. Even those who ordered after me got there order before me. And, when I decided to pay my bill with having those wings, bar tender was happy to take the payment without excluding the wings which I even didn’t touched it. Great service and earn more, keep it up!

Got the food on the table over an hour after ... 1st. Plate- orderd: A rare steak : The steak was over well done The plate and steak were cold ... The size of bear wasn't asked ... 2nd plate_ ordered: Salad with fresh romaine & garden veggies with added grilled salmon filet Salmon was overly fried with dark brown color, completely dried out. Romain salad was looking like left out for few days and the cuts were all rusted ( orange color on the cut edges) Not representing the description on the menu Service not present for beverage or other needed items e.g.: salt , pepper, extra plate, dessert... We wont go back again...

They have an absolutely huge menu so there's bound to be something that catches your eye. Portions are massive as well. The fried pierogi appetizer was delicious and I actually really liked the single serving sour cream cups, what a great idea! The pierogi were good even a day or so after and I had them as a late night snack. Our waitress was very friendly and even tried to help us out when we had some questions about the city. I had the Scallop & Shrimp Stir Fry and it did it's job in filling me up, but the menu said it would be spicy and it was just temperature hot. That being said, we all enjoyed our food and have leftovers to last for a bit. The restaurant itself got very warm and didn't seem to have any AC so if you're there during the warmer months take advantage of the patio.

You have to ask about the prices for the lobster yourselves but that's everywhere. the portion sizes were good- can't forget that. The server was nice, this place does get busy in the evening!! We expected a better and courteous service especially after the mess up. They took a long time to get the bill. Food is average. Be careful with your orders!

I read positive, glowing reviews of this place and can't believe it. Hands down one of the all time top 5 worst places I've eaten in my life on every level, from service to food quality and table cleanliness. Honestly, I wouldn't even risk giving it a second chance. Huge bone in my turkey poutine, my daughter was served wrong food but waitress never came back so we could tell her, then acted like it was our fault. Couldn't tell at first glance under mess of cheese & grease. Discount given but meal was ruined, so that doesn't cut it. Lots of other places to choose from, do yourself a favor and keep walking.

I'd give it a negative star if I could. we asked for a table for 2 and the staff told us they have no tables available, which is totally fine. however when we asked when the next table would be available, they told us "we don't know when that would be" bizarre but okay so we asked if there was a waitlist we can put our name down for and got told "we don't have a waitlist and we don't know when the next table will be ready. we just do walk-ins". um we were "walking in" in person?!?!

Nachos are always good and staff is friendly. Only problem I have with the place is when they have bands playing they always have the instruments WAY louder than the singer so we can never hear them very well. But other than that it's always a fun lively place.

Very good poutine and portions are big! A little warning though : the gravy is very rich and deep in beef flavor! I love that dark gravy, but it might not be for everyone. Otherwise, a great spot that we'll keep in mind next time we're on the island!

I drop in here often and always find it warm and welcoming. This visit I am having the festive special. Turkey with all the trimmings and desert for $13.49. It is centrally located in the old downtown and is a popular gathering place. Good food at excellent prices and a large menu to choose from.

Where to start, the wait staff was very friendly and up front about their very long wait time for food (in the heat of a Saturday night), but they were able to accomodate our large party with no reservation by sitting us outside and moving a heater closer. Their beer menu was good, with just enough craft options and the classics to keep everyone happy. When the food arrived, it was really good and beware, the portions are huge! The potato burger was a bit dissappointing for my vegetarian girlfriend, and unfortunately her salad was served with bacon on it, but our server discounted our meal to make up for it. We ended up spending a few hours there, enjoying their excellent music playlist then eventually the live music from the beer garden across the street!

This restaurant is generally very good and has very professional management. However, today, I had my first bad meal at this restaurant. I ordered a 12oz steak with a side of baked potato. I ordered it medium rare. The steak took over 25 minutes to arrive, was cooked well done and was flavorless. The potatoes gave the impression that they were baked hours to days ago as they were reheated and not fresh. I found this shocking given the reputation and track record I had with this restaurant. The only reason I would post this is to give the management honest feedback to improve QC so that they do not lose repeat customers. Otherwise, this restaurant is very good.

At night they sometimes have live bands on the main level and different music upstairs with another bar. Located on a corner with 2 other bars so a great place to start or end the night.

It was my first time in P.E.I and Hunters was suggested by a friend. The food was good but my experience was clouded by the service. Our server was irritated and short, granted they were busy but as a customer it's not my issue that they are busy. We we're more than understanding and patient. She dismissed our request for a drink among other things. It took 1 hour and 20 mins to get our food and we ended up leaving without our second drink because she (our server) just didn't come back. I likely wouldn't eat here again.

First, some of these servers were really indifferent to our being there. We always say thank you. Never any acknowledgement. Ok fine. Then I had the lobster roll. Don't bother. The roll was too big in relation to the portion of the lobster and dry as good be. No butter or mayo on the bread and it good really have used it. The amount of lobster was fine but I did want it on a roll but this roll was way to much. Overall experience.. ...just fair.

I gave 2 stars because food is normally great here. This time I didn't get to enjoy my meal because of a super loud unruly child. Management did nothing to deal with it which resulted in the proprietor and myself coming to the mutual decision for me to never return here. I'm good with that. What part of "Ale House" describes a family/day care atmosphere for a dinner out?

Been here 2 times with total two people, food and services were good. Yet, on my third time back there was very disappointed! (it’s still two people and around dinner), food doesn’t taste as good as before, had to wait over an hour and half from the order time to food, no restaurant should leave someone with no food over that long, and waiter not check in frequently! I don’t know if I will go back there for a while.

Hunter's has a huge menu with lots of variety for all types of eaters, including vegetarians. The many poutines and salads even have three different size options. Service was super quick. A bonus is that food is available until 1:30 AM. Everything my partner and I had was totally satisfying but nothing was spectacular. That being said, there are lots of dishes I would like to go back and try.

The place is a bit off the beaten path but still close to the boardwalk. We learned of it from an YouTube video ???? Good beer selection to begin with; many craft beers, plenty on the dark side which I prefer. We had unlimited ribs, nachos Mexican style and seafood chowder (came highly recommended) Portions are huge even before the “hunter size” !!! The chowder was excellent, nachos were just ok, unusual sauce on the ribs - a bit sweet, also just ok...Prices are average for the portions. Service was good and fast.

A denied request for a booth today, lost you a $80 plus ticket. My husband, daughter and myself arrived at 11:20am for lunch. Asked how many in our part; 3. I requested a booth but was flat out denied and the reason given was they were saving them for bigger parties! Not that they were reserved for a specific group but just saving them for bigger parties. When dining with 2 other people, those 4 tops aren't big enough. Too bad, because I had Hunter's before and absolutely loved it! And we were a party of 2 and had a choice of seat. And yes, it was on a Friday, same time of day. Oh well, Montanas had no issue with the request of a booth!! And great service and delicious food too!

So much food. Don't go here if you're a little hungry. This place was recommended and we didn't regret it. Deep fried shrimp and scallops were very good. Steak was mediocre. Deep fried pickles were popular at out table. I think a lot of tourists will miss this place as it's a little bit away from the main stretch but it's worth walking over a few blocks. I'd probably give it a 4 stars but my wife really loved it so I'll give a 5.

Food is decent pub fare, however an order of nachos and mussels took over an hour to come out and the server never came to check on us or to acknowledge our wait. Lots of better restaurants with better service in the area! Update: we were in there for 2 hours, 1 hour to get our food and the next hour to pay. Have never truly contemplated dining and dashing til this night. Server did not approach, acknowledge us or make eye contact. We waited so long the food turned to ash in our mouths. The highlight of the experience was leaving and feeling the crisp outside air and knowing we were free. She lightly mumbled something about it being "hectic" but with a full bar staff and 4 servers for a half empty restaurant I certainly have my doubts. Will never forget the Great Nacho Wait of 2021. The gingerale was nice though.

We got to Hunters at around 630pm. Ordered our food at 645 pm received our food at 813 pm. All that was ordered was an order of fries, oinion rings,pulled pork poutine and a philly steak sandwich. People who came in after us ate before us...and we were told it was busy ....never again

The staff are extremely friendly here and the food for the most part is delicious. Our fries tasted a bit burnt but the gravy was able to mask that a bit. Other than that it's great. Only other complaint I have is that it's a bit too crowded in there with seating and patrons for my liking.

Went for the Burger Love. The burger was ok but the service was amazing. Our waitress was a full-time teacher, (Lauren I believe) and she was so good with my son. She talked to him in French when she find out he was in French immersion. A wonderful family experience.

Hey Hunter's! Normally you guys are ok in my book, but last Sunday we were seated (2 people) by the hostess on the patio and then sat for 20 minutes before we stood up and left. You weren't busy. There were only 3 other active patio tables two of which appeared to be finishing up, and one or two inside the restaurant. We were never aknowledged. No one even noticed when we left, I'm sure. Do better.

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience eating at Hunter's Ale House. The food was good, the portions are generous, the staff is prompt, friendly and courteous. Overall we liked the relaxed atmosphere and found the place clean and tidy. We will go back with the whole family. I dinged this review by one star since the lock on the single stall in the men's room does not work.
