Made a reservation for 6:30pm for two on a Monday and were seated promptly. We ordered immediately after hearing the specials. Ordered apple-cheddar soup (amazing!), eggplant Parmigiana sandwich (good) and were asked what we wanted for a side - we asked what the options were and got the Caesar. We were not told this was extra. One of us had the fish special and it was tasteless and not very warm; although it was supposed to be local fresh fish, it didn’t taste fresh. The food took so long to get to us and then for anyone to talk to us afterwards, that it was after 8pm and although I had expressed from the beginning I wanted dessert, it was too late for me to be able to have dessert (I didn’t think we would be there that late). I was disappointed but maybe it was for the best based on the lacklustre other things. Waiting to pay again took a long time. I wouldn’t mind except that it wasn’t a cheap meal. I would not eat here again and I don’t often say things like that.

I usually get the barley room burger. I love that it is fresh ground beef, and all fresh real ingredients. The fries are amazing as well! I highly recommend eating here!

We stopped in here for some dinner and a drink and were treated to some fabulous live music to go with our dinner. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, the music was pretty darned good too! The menu has lots of variety, all of it interesting.

We ordered takeout from our inn about a 10 minute drive away. We ordered a burger and fries and the green curry with chicken addon. The curry was good but… no chicken. The fries were good but the burger was overcooked and dry as leather. Even if it had been cooked better, it should have had some sauce with it but alas no.. Not a great welcome to PEC

Stopped in for a business lunch. Staff was friendly and courteous. Our server quickly addressed us, got our drinks and took our order. Our food came in good time and was absolutely spot on. I had an open faced beef sandwich which was served on a giant Yorkshire pudding with dusted onions. Food was 10/10.

Went on the Saturday before Halloween and the owners had certainly gone all out—Mad respect. Server was personable and skilled and talked comfortably about their impressive local beer and wine list. Food was good pub fare with nice extra touches of quality and interesting flavour.

So my friends and I decided to come to dinner here. When we got to our table we proceed to wait 15 minutes just to get our menus and water, to get these things we had to flag someone down. When we finally got our food we were very disappointed. The hot pot was FAR from filling and bones were found in the soup. The hot pot was able to be finished before the rest of the table could get ketchup. Most of the group came to the barley room hungry but everyone left starving.

Restaurant is nice. Good food good staff but rooms upstairs have virtually no air conditioning. Hotter than you can believe. So I'd advise to eat and run.

Great place with tasty food, we took a risk and tried this place. It's attached to the Waring House. Food was delicious, so I would recommend. Parking is a bit difficult to find at night.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional! Our server was very friendly and accommodating, making sure that we had the best meal possible. I ordered the Pimm's cocktail, eggplant parmesan sandwich, apple & cheddar soup, and shared a creme brulee (which came with one of the best shortbread cookies I've ever had). I would recommend each dish, though the menu has plenty to choose from and I look forward to going back to try more! A fantastic place for a relaxed, tasty, and affordable meal.

Decor and atmosphere was nice but the food was pretty awful. Was there as group of 4 around 7pm on a Tuesday, so not very busy, but the service was so slow. It was obvious from the foods appearance that it was sitting under a heat lamp for some time. Disappointing.

we loved everything about it. It's very cozy. The people are very friendly and they respect covid-19 and this made us feel safe. I also want to share that we have been lucky to be served by a very sweet waitress "Melissa" who made our stay even better with her welcoming personality. We will never forget this great time and your kindness! We sure hope to come back and we highly recommend this place.

Overall experience was hit and miss at the barley pub. We visited for dinner last weekend and were disappointed. The hits? Seafood chowder was delicious. The service was great, friendly, and attentive. Misses? Everything else. Fish tacos were awful, the cocktails watered down, overall our table wasn't happy with the meal.

Normally we enjoy going to the barley room, but tonight was not good at all. First off, entertainment was great... might have been the only highlight of the night. Service was extremely slow, but in fairness they were busy. However, it took 20 minutes just to place a drink order, then 10 more minutes to get the drinks. We ordered the burger special and fish and chips. Burger was to be cooked medium rare, it was well done and very dry. Next was the fish and chips. Chips were over salted, but edible. Fish was to be double cooked..it wasn't. Then when the order was brought we were informed that there was no tarter sauce. I wasn't offered the option to change my meal before hand since there was no sauce, and then was still charged full price for something I didn't eat. Definitely not worth the price we paid.

Went for lunch with some family members. The restaurant was set up well for Covid. Food was very good and the service was excellent. I don't live in the area and was last here 3 years ago. I will definitely visit again.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The first night we arrived late and the bartender went to the closed kitchen and produced a salad and a bowl of soup. The next night we went for dinner in the Barley Room. Fish and chips and a striploin were perfect. Lots of contact with server and red wine was served in a carafe.

Great staff and great food. Their house made soups are wonderful. Only issue was the roast beef dip...beware if you are alcohol intolerant. The au jus contained red wine - Not quite what I expected and a little overwhelming for my palate.
