A truely incredible spot with a flair for making you feel right at home. The music is loud enough for a good vibe but not so loud that you ahve to scream across their living room-like spaces at your date.

This place is really neat. The decor is pretty cool. The large tables definitely cater more to a large group than an intimate date. When there as a party of two we were seated in a very strange set up against the wall. This felt a bit more like a waiting room than a bar since me and my date were sitting next to each other with a table between us looking out to the rest of the room, but there were many cool options for larger groups. The cocktails were quite good!

Recently came to Charlotte a couple times after not having been since 2018~ish. The lounge itself is still really nice / mid-century modern vibes, but otherwise the experience isn’t what it used to be. Cocktail list isn’t as good as before, and snacks options are pretty underwhelming (there used to be the option of ordering some Pure Kitchen items from downstairs, like the cauliflower wings or dumplings). Service is also so/so. It’s too bad because we don’t really have a nice lounge space on Elgin.

Hosted my wife’s 50th Birthday Party at Charlotte this past week. I can’t say enough about how AMAZING the evening was. This venue is a PERFECT place to host a party. We were a group of 90 people and the space worked extremely well. The Team at Charlotte and Pure Kitchen were TRULY EXCEPTIONAL, they performed flawlessly. My guests were blown away by the energy in the room. The food was SPECTACULAR. Special thanks to Ashleigh for taking charge and putting my mind at ease. Cody for his excellent layout skills, Jordan for making my guests feel so welcome. Kam the DJ for his EXCELLENT selection of music and POSITIVE demeanor. Dave Leith should be VERY PROUD about the quality product and team he has developed. If I could have left more than 5 stars I would have.

That's the large cheese board option which was quite delicious. There were 4 of us and it was enough food to share. The atmosphere is legit and cozy. Bonus: this have kickass bathrooms for excellent selfies

First time there. Thursday evening. Quiet at first but picked up. Great atmosphere, lounge. Extremely knowledgeable sommelier. Eclectic wine list so we needed some help. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend for an after work drink.

I like the lounge style for sure but they're pretty pretentious and have expensive drinks. Make it a short visit, and don't dare coming late as they'll charge you $30 + $20/person in your reservation, even for a 9:30 reservation.

Drinks are great, decor is great, atmosphere is pretty good but the music was all over the place. Don’t play music at club volumes if you’re a lounge where everyone is sitting. Also the song selection was all over the place, dude was going from Drake to weird tribal music for an hour. This is a cocktail lounge bro not an Aphex Twin concert, someone gotta talk to that guy.

First time going here in the summer, service was great! Quick & Easy! LOVED. 5 star***** November 14th, 8-9pm. Second experience, recently on a week day evening - our server placed us by the windows (meanwhile it was FREEZING COLD), didn't get service for 25 minutes, moved ourselves twice resulting having to go to the bar to get our drinks. Finally after 40 minutes we finally got drinks from the bartender. We wanted to leave so many times but because we were not dressed for the weather, we kept giving this place benefit of the doubt in getting service.., eventually. The bartender seemed very lacked of wine knowledge which directed us to a sommelier which finally gave us good info on the wine selection. She explained the wines, we picked one or two and then just walked away & we had to bother the bartender to get us the wines we picked. Bartender seemed very tired, and not really into serving us. HOWEVER, when another couple walked in (which he clearly knew) he changed completely to being animated, and SO happy to serve them. We even recall him putting a drink on flames and had a great show. Nonetheless, me and my friend were low-key offended (we just thought he was really tired or whatnot which we understood) - until we saw this 360 degree change in service, knowledge and attention. Just seemed like an overall poor experience. We got better service at the Goergie's Pizza, getting a slice of pizza afterwards on our ways home.BONUS: One server did apologize for the lack of service as she noticed our un-pleasant body language. 1 star for this second experience*. PS: Im not a harsh critic - please look up all my other very positive reviews. I just happen to have worked in service a long time and know that this isn't acceptable for a good reputable bar/resto lounge. Needless to say, I wish the team of Charlotte can remain consistent. Ill probably be back in hopes of getting good service like I initially had in the summer. Best of luck & hope they don't have these nights often..

I don't really like going to these types of places but I have to give props when they're due. It's a really nice place with an apartment atmosphere. It can get quite loud making it hard to hear other people. The drinks aren't crazy expensive. The staff is really nice, knowledgeable and have a great sense of humour. Great job. Oh I forgot to mention this is a hard place to find! It's on the second floor and only has a small sign to mention where it is!

Went here on a friday evening with some friends, this is an awesome cocktail bar. The decor is beautiful and classy but also laid back! you can go dressed up or in a more casual outfit and will feel at home. it was fun to go with the girls, get all dressed up and order some cool cocktails! The cocktails are very good and are usually around 2oz so good value.They make the BEST moscow mule. The food is also very good, our table got dumplings, fauxritos (vegan doritos) and buffalo cauliflower wings. The food was all good but the cauliflower wings were AMAZING!! The vibe is very chill but it can definitely be a bit loud. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone wanting a fun night out to try some different cocktails, check out an awesome bar and try some delicious vegetarian/vegan food. I cant wait to go again!

Beautiful mid-century modern design with colourful insta-worthy washrooms. Great atmosphere, good drinks, decent service. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you want somewhere to sit. Food is a little on the pricy side but it's a great atmosphere for evening and late night drinks with friends.

As a product of the 90s, and not knowing what it was truly like, it seems that Charlotte is the closest we will get to a 70s swinger party meets lounge bar. The mid century modern living room aesthetic is the best feature. Not much can compare to the comfort of sitting with your friends at a couch and being served drinks on grandma's coffee table. Fitting the classy-casual vibe, the alcohol menu has a broad range of price points and selection.

Friday and Saturday nights are really fun. Fun staff. Great drinks. Awesome food. Great DJs playing good music. One of my fav spots in the city for a late night hang out. Young or old, drinkers or not, this spot doesn't make anyone feel out of place.

Went here the other night for cocktails with friends. The aesthetic is gorgeous from the bar to the bathrooms. Very chic retro vibes. The cocktails were also delicious. Highly recommend for a casual or classy night out with friends. Don't forget to get some cute selfies in the different decorated bathrooms. ♥️

The layout is really cool, like multiple living rooms in a home! Original beer selection, though some are a bit pricey, for good reason, since I haven't seen them locally. I went later at night for a private party and it was a bit loud for my taste, given the cozy layout. But the music was good.

Best cocktail lounge in Ottawa. It is refreshing that the bartenders aren't pushing drinks in volumes just for profit. They're chill, build a drink properly, and add to the ambiance of slowing things down and enjoying the great vibe and company. Vinyl DJ was a much appreciated experience. The gender-agnostic (and spotless!) bathrooms were a simple and subtle reflection of modern inclusiveness. Thanks for the attention to the small things!

Great drinks and good selection of wine. Only downside is all the reserved seats prevent other clients from coming in and enjoying a drink in a cozy seat. You can stay standing up for a while and looking at an empty reserved couch.

I had a really great time at this bar! Really nice lounge and service was very friendly. Decor is pretty unique for Ottawa. Bathrooms are single stalled and unisex, and each have a different cool wallpaper. It seems the food and dessert offered is basically just brought up from Pure Kitchen downstairs, so I’d probably only come here again for drinks.

The bar was beautiful and the drinks were amazing! Appetizers were okay, overpriced for what they were. Service was generally okay - but given that my group bought a few drinks and appetizers, I hadn't thought we had overstayed our welcomd at the bar but the staff was eager to rush us out at 9PM, letting us know they had a table coming in for 10PM. Even after we had settled the bill at around 9:15, the staff (albeit politely) kept pushing us to leave. Hence the three stars.

My wife and I love coming to Charlotte as it's like being at home except with better drinks and you don't have to clean up!???????? Seriously though I love going here. The Tiki drinks are great and from what my wife tells me they have a good wine selections and some pretty great beer too. The feel of the bar is great with the seemily random assortment of couches and chairs but they are all so comfy. The food is great too. The cheese plate is amazing and the faux-ritos are ????!

Charlotte is a fantastic place for snacks and drinks! Staff is super attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I'm gluten free and our server made sure I was taken care of. They have wonderful cocktails and a super tasty wine menu. Try the Beaujolais Blanc. It is amazing!

Want a nice adulty vibe place? Definitely go to Charlotte although its a bit hard to figure out where it is ( it’s the same building as pure kitchen but upstairs) the place has a nice vibe, drinks are okay and the appetizers are okay but wouldn’t order any further on. The decor is fun and the space is great. Bathrooms are clean and the lighting there is great for pictures! Haha

Great spot for late night drinks while in Ottawa. Good selection of beers and cocktails. There is a live DJ so the music is very loud, so hard to carry on a conversation but other than that a cool spot.

I’ve been to Charlotte a couple of times now, and I’ve always had a pleasant experience. The place has a really nice feel to it, the decor is great and the seats are very comfortable. I like that it’s set up in sections, each one like a living room. The last time I was there my group tried the salt & vinegar kettle chips, the roasted bar nuts, the charred broccoli and the dumplings. For drinks, I tried the Planter’s Punch (pictured) and a Pina Colada, both were very good. They have a wide variety of wines and beers as well. Everything I’ve tried there so far has been delicious. I’d recommend checking it out.

Great little cocktail bar with some simple bites to eat. Decor is very hommy setup like a large living room with some communal seating...They do take reservations but require a deposit when you do and will charge for a no show apparently.

Really cool atmosphere and great food with lots of vegan/vegetarian options, but the service was really lacking. I had to go to the bar to order my food and drinks because my server was MIA the whole night. I'd still return tho.

Charlotte is like a massive house party with living rooms for each group. The only thing I didn't like was that our server didn't introduce herself to us, which made calling her over for drink orders hard. Tasty drinks that go down too smoothly.

Quaint little after lounge. Perfect for an after work beverage. It's mid century modern furniture and open space make for a fun atmosphere. They dont serve food per se but do offer snacks and small plates to share.

Cute place with great seating areas for large group of people. If it isn't a busy night, two people can take a couch area instead of the 2 seated areas. The spicy cocktail with the ghost pepper was fantastic. Bartender was very nice.

I love this bar and the fact that it replaced a dated old bar in the area when it was built. They have tons of vegan and vegetarian food, lots of fun drinks, a big beer and wine selection, and a really neat atmosphere/vibe. It literally feels like you're at a friend's place when you go there, I've had so much design inspiration going there! They sometimes have specials and they have good music too. Love the tropical vibe, it helps get out of the winter funk in a cold town.

Came in on a Saturday night. Totally disappointed with the service *immediately* upon stepping up to the bar. When we finally recieved the attention of disinterested bar staff, our cocktails were served without a smile and ahead of our shots. Speaking of cocktails - the Sex on the Beach was overly complicated yet still managed to be mildly sweet and watery. The Pina Colada on the other hand tasted of days-spoiled milk, curdled in the sun for that distinct tropical flavor we all know and love. Would recommend that staff did their research, improved their service and tasted the drinks before they serve them.

I love the theme! Such a funky, intimate place. The drinks and the service were good. The biggest disappointment though was the music - Rihanna and Kanye don't really fit in with the ambience. Some mid-century jazz would have been way better.

The whole place is hit or miss. We ordered drinks, and the cocktail was the most disgusting drink we’ve ever tried (dito from the two other people who tried it), one of our wines had a fruit fly floating in it, and we wanted to let the sever know but it took her 30m to come check on us (although she checked the table next to us about 3-4 times). When she finally came, we told her about the drinks, and she took them away. She did return stating the bartender forgot an ingredient in the drink and offered to make another drink. We declined the offer because We just wanted to get out of that place and head to the nearest bar. As for the environment, you definitely need to raise your voice when talking because the music is too loud, but the design/layout is hit or miss depending on what you enjoy. We went on a Friday night at 7

We had more friends show up unexpectedly, but the staff (host and hostess at the door especially!) was so accommodating and kind. Fun, funky lounge. If you like mid century modern design, then this is the place for you.Lively place for a drink with friends. The cocktails are fresh and oh so pretty. It would be nice if the snack menu had a couple more items but it's really a tiki lounge so eating isn't the priority anyway.

Cool atmosphere and varied drinks menu. Food was pretty good. The music was cranked up rather loud late at night so this made it difficult to chat, which ran counter to the whole lounge vibe. Our server was pretentious, borderline rude, and not very good at remembering our order - thus the 4 stars instead of 5.

The cocktails are good, however they are a bit pricey and the service is very slow. We routinely waited 10 minutes with empty glasses before being noticed by the wait staff and then another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Would not return here.

Mixed feelings on it - gorgeous decor and good drinks, good if you are looking to talk to your friends and no one else. The music is pretty sleepy, and the layout is cloistered. A good spot for an evening drink, but an odd vibe after 11pm.
