Awesome collection of new and used vinyl with owners who really love music.
Always a great visit
Such a cool place, and the staff is incredibly helpful.
First time visiting the store and the owner was extremely welcoming and kind. Provided us with a tour and explained everything. Very attentive and extremely passionate about music. He wasn't pushy or trying to milk customers, an amazing experience.
Super helpful and friendly staff. Great selection of vinyls, cd's, movie posters and more.
The ultimate destination for vinyl collectors. Hundreds of vintage albums on hand along with posters and t-shirts. I found the owner and his staff to be very friendly and accommodating.
Alleycats is a fantastic record shop. Great selection of all kinds of cool things besides just music at very decent prices as well. This place is a gem!
March 5th, 2019... So, I discovered Alley Catz a couple plus years ago and from the very beginning, I sensed the smaller town friendliness of Mike and Rob, which is a refreshing change from many stores in the GTA. Every time I'm in Orillia visiting my friends, I'll go in at least once to see what catches my eye, often buying 1 or more records, whether in the main store or the old Woolworths... But all that has suddenly changed. I was in yesterday and bought a bunch of records, spending a couple hours in the main store and digging in the basement. Today, I have some more time before making dinner and thought I'd go snooping in the basement again. I walk in the main store and ask if it's ok to look again. Mike confirms the gate is unlocked, I walk over but it's locked. So, I go back and Mike responds flippantly "oh well, too bad. I can't open it for you right now." Which I found odd, cause he's given me the key before when we first met but now there's a change of policy?? Ok whatever... Apparently, they've been dealing with shoplifters, which is a unfortunate. I hear Mike muttering under his breath "damn meth kids." Mike then continues to manifest this disdain towards me and made me feel like I was not to be trusted and says if he were to give me the key, that I'd have to have a minimum purchase of $5. I'm thinking, I spend money pretty much every time I come in, and just yesterday I spent $90+ and today I could spend more. And somehow you feel the need to enforce upon me a minimum?? So, along with this and some other off handed, passive aggressive comments yesterday and the general feeling that I was not welcome, so I just walked out. Don't imagine I'll be going back anytime soon... Unfortunately theft, external or otherwise is a part of every retail environment. If you can't manage that, and wind up translating those feelings by alienating and profiling every customer because of some bad eggs, you're in the wrong business...
Found a couple really cool oddities while browsing. Customer service was more than satisfactory!
What a great store. Lots of LP's and other musical items. Anything to do with music it's there
Great staff. Amazing store. Fantastic find to create an album wall.
Cute eclectic record shop lots of selection , store opening hours aren't strictly kept but it's worth a visit just dont show up right at opening because it may not be open hour. Staff is very knowledgeable and tries to accommodate customers. I was helped by the owner and I appreciated the help and advice especially since I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to music
Love this store. Great selection of music etc.
Very nostalgic place with loads of Vinyl records. A friendly and helpful staff worth a visit if your a music lover who enjoys shopping for it the way we all use to.
Great place for everything music and comics, plenty of rare vinyls, cassettes, CDs and all kinds of music memorabilia...Pretty kool to go dig through their warehouse full of hundreds of thousands of records, posters and classic comic books all at $2 each ad well... Call them to make an appointment to go digging for yourself on a Saturday.
This is what a record store is all about. Great selection of used and new. I made the mistake of not allowing more time to browse. I came in to pickup a record I ordered online and walked out with more I found while quickly browsing. I love finding gems at reasonable prices.
Great place for records, Cd's, and posters! Good prices and amazing friendly and helpful staff. Right on the main street.
Decided to stop in on our way back to the city, so glad we did! Staff is super helpful, wide selection of records and prices are very reasonable.
Great place to find new and used records and cds. Lots of amazing posters of different rock artist. Fun place to visit.
Awesome store with a great selection. Guy working there was very friendly and knowledgeable
Great selection, great help
My husband time travelled in this store...meaning he was in there for 40 mins and was convinced it was 5 mins. Apparently there is so much music to go through. He absolutely loves the store and can't wait to go back
Really awesome store! So much to browse through and the owners are really cool too. Great selection of old and new, cds too, and every genre. Record collectors paradise.
Nice place but the staff lack knowledge
great record store, huge selection, nice helpful staff
Awesome store and great customer service
Love this place! Go there every time I visit Orillia
I visited Alleycat Music & Art yesterday for the first time and I was blown away by the selection. The shop has a great atmosphere as well. I immediately felt like I was at home. Mike took me on a tour of the shop and educated me with some background history. He also introduced me to his ‘number one employee,’ Rob. These guys know vinyl – massive knowledge here between the two of them. Other than the amazing vinyl, there are some really fantastic posters available for purchase as well -- but that’s not all. If you need a turntable, Alleycat sells them. Another cool thing is that Mike wants your first visit to be a great one. Not only do you receive a free record as a ‘first timer,’ but you also get 10% off your total purchase. Saving money anywhere is a big deal. Saving money on your first vinyl purchase is outstanding. The gents go the extra mile to make your experience top-notch. Be prepared to spend some time perusing; the inventory is immense. Long live vinyl, Alleycat Music & Art, and reviews like this one for the business.
Always looking to find my favorite bands. Also they do crazy looking store gift cards.
Such a great experience! I live a couple hours from Orillia, but will definitely consider making the drive to buy my records. It was by far the best customer service experience in a long time. So much selection, a neat history, and super friendly staff with great recommendations.
Michael Rothwell, please be polite to people.
Nice records
Incredible spot I just happened to walk into, being out of town I spoke with the owner abit and he gave me a quick tour and history of the spot. Great mix of old and new and the selection is incredible, the used copies are still in great condition and nicely priced. Orillia is blessed to have this spot
A little pricey but a cool store.
Best store Downtown Orillia
One my favorite places downtown Orillia and super friendly staff!
Great selection.
Great little music store. Had a nice chat with Mike—very knowledgeable guy. Strong blues section. Relaxed vibe. Highly recommend!
Lot's of selection. New, Used, and Collectibles all in one spot
Took a drive frim Barrie to Orrilia just to go to this store. Wasnt disappointed in any way. The staff were very knowledgeable and honest. An hour had past in the blink of an eye. Felt like I was back in 1985
Store is fun but VERY scattered groupings of albums and simply put they need to just MERGE all classifications and go alphabetical! Thought the price of $40 was high for an album but I'm out of touch with reality of $40 is the street price regardless which store you go to these days!
Awesome selection and super knowledgeable staff.
Great Selection Knowledgable and Helpful Staff
Great record store with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can be a little on the expensive side for some of the vintage items, but If you need a suggestion on what to get as a present for someone, or even something new for yourself they make excellent recommendations. They have quite a bit of selection as well, meaning they've got something for everybody.
Great service great people great selections graat gift ideas
Great shop. Lots of limited editions and other gems. Great staff who are willing to help.
Very nostalgic
Great selection of records and music paraphernalia.
Great store and selection
What an interesting and unique place! Ended up buying 2 posters I couldn't find anywhere else.
Very entertaining place, always fun to drop by and look around, and so much to look at. Didn't have much on current day artists, there was lots more on people such as Elvis Presley, Bon Jovi, etc. The rap section was very small, but the owner always seems willing to order what you may want. There's also some amazing artwork there, I personally have some artwork I bought there hanging in my room. As for covid rules, the owner was wearing a mask, I didn't spot hand sanitizer, but I also wasn't searching for it. The place may seem unorganized at first but once you start going there regularly, you start to learn your way around.
What a great place for the vinyl record enthusiast. Cds too. Apparel. Everything music. Well stocked with old and new and new and used. Whatever your budget or genre if you will find it here
Great place and space. Mike was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Very cool shop. Brings me back to the best days. Posters, concert tees and vinyl. It's all coming back but my youth. Check this spot out, for sure. Worth stopping in. FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM: @gal.about.town.365
Great place for vintage records great selection
My favorite of Orillia's downtown shops. Great website too. Lots of new and vintage memorabilia Hollywood rock and roll punk you name it. Helpful friendly staff
So many great records! Went in for my father in law and told my husband I would like a record player now! The man working was very friendly and helpful.
It is not in an alley and there are no actual cats. I was a little disappointed but all the awesome music stuff made up for it. ????
Excellent selection and prices - Enjoyed a quick chat with Mike too.
staff was very rude and unwilling to help. do not recommend visiting or spending money here.
Easily Ontario's best record shop, hands down. Their selection is huge & their prices are more than fair. An absolute "Must Stop" for any vinyl lover.
Super friendly staff, they took the time to explain the in and outs of entry level record players and suggested various models. He didn’t seem worried about where I bought it, just that I was educated before I made the purchase. I bought the one he suggested, and couldn’t be happier. I’ll be back for sure to get my record collection started.
Too many records too little time! Could easily end up losing too much time in there.
If your looking for new/current music this place is fantastic. I just picked up a sheepdogs album I couldn't find anywhere else.
Always find something to add to the collection!
I never fail to find a gem at Alleycats. Really diverse selection of new vinyl from all genres. Top notch merchandising makes it easy to get lost in the stacks.
No better place anywhere to look for music. I can never leave there quickly, so many interesting things to see.
Cool store drop by and look st some iconic stuff. Definitely a lot of old and new stuff. Music, posters, books and movies amd as a bonus great staff as well the owner is blessed.
Great collection of vintage and new records posters and CDs. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and seemingly can help you find anything that you are looking for. Ask them about the warehouse, open to the public and storing over 15000 records.
Extremely rude owner and overpriced items.
A pure gem
Orillia - the size of the town considered - is very lucky to have a record store of this quality. Plenty of product; well priced; always helpful. Definitely recommended.
Great selection, prices, and staff!
Great place, worth the trip to Orillia. I always find amazing vinyl every time i go and the staff are awesome and very knowledgeable.
Such a gem of a store. I visited from out of town and was very impressed with the quantity of records. Be prepared to be sifting for hours. Lots of posters, shirts, and books as well. The owners were super friendly and knowledgeable.
Great collection of nostalgic items including records, cassettes, CDs, clothing, posters. A great browse!
Great ace to kill a couple of hours. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to help their customers out. A huge array of new and used records books cd's posters and Tshirts
The Best Record store I've ever been in: Great selection of Records, Staff is friendly and fun (Always willing to help and chat with any one) If you are in Orillia and want to look for a record/CD/Tape the staff can help you find what you are looking for. Mike and Rob are pretty awesome guys. They know their stuff. Lots of variety. Live music most weekends. Vinyl, Cd's, posters, comics and so much more. My inner geek is hard to contain when I know we're making a trip to Alley Cats. I love that place.
Great selection and helpful staff!

Very cool shop
Good Selection of vinyl records. The prices are sometimes high but great quality and assortment. The store is organized well. It's easy to search for the artist or genre you are looking for.Weve been coming here for years and usually always find something. There expanded now selling more posters,t-shirts,books and music and comic novelty accessories. They even had a live preformer playing who was quite good. We always stop by when were in Orillia.
My boyfriend and I stopped in here while out of town on vacation. Such a great selection and the staff are very helpful. The owner even showed us other shops in the area to check out.
Lots of records but its a little cramped inside. Staff is friendly. Would like to see more used and moderately priced records.
Very cool place! Good deals on many rare items. Pays well for used cd's and records.
If you are looking for old non existant used stuff, this is a great place. Has nothing relevant and staff is very rude
Fantastic place for music and a great selection. The owner Mike and his staff are helpful and know their stuff. I highly recommend for the vinal
Killer collection, helpful staff, and great location!
If you need art music or something strange this is the place to find hidden gems also records
You have to wear a mask because of covid but the guys there where super nice and helped me with everything I needed I'll definitely be going back
Really cool store, with a huge amount of stuff. Records, books, posters, whatever. And the owner is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I visited from out of town, but I truly wish my town had a store like this.
If you are looking for something you will probably find it here. If not they will find it for you.
Great people and great store they're very knowledgeable!
Friendly staff and good selection
Great selection of records, cds, posters, t-shirts, books and more. If they don't have it, they can find it for you.
staff was very rude. i was told i was not allowed to use my phone in the store?? no google allowed i guess?? they treated one other customer poorly while i was there as well, and staff was unwilling to help her.
Owner is very knowledgeable and always friendly.
If you're a music lover it's hard not to spend hours in there searching
Nice selection of music and videos.
Love this place! Not enough time in a day to pour through the vinyl, cds, tapes, books, posters etc. Allycats is my treat to myself to feel like a teenager again in a great record store.
Selection of vinyl gets larger every time I visit. Moderately priced and good finds. Great selection of posters and oddities.
Great little Vinyl store in Downtown Orillia. Jam packed with everything a music lover could ask for. (Music wise anyways) I went in looking for a Phono Preamp. The owner said he had a cheap $40 one, but said it wasn't worth the money (who does that)? Most places try to sell thing's no matter what it is or how good it is just to get it off the shelf! We talked about budget Pre''s and I gave a suggestion of one that I had been looking at online that has excellent reviews. The owner took down the brand and model and said he was looking for one to carry in store, he said he would look into it, and appreciated the recommendation. I like it when a store owner actually listens to the customer. As for vinyl prices, they are pretty much the same as Amazon, and I think they have a better selection. A purchased a vinyl cleaning system while I was there, again same price as online but without the shipping cost. I could go on and on about AlleyCats, but the bottom line is that it is a great store and Orillia is fortunate to have a place like this! I will continue to do my research online, but will only purchase from AlleyCats from now on!!! 5 stars for sure .
In all of simcoe county, this is the best place for anything and everything. The man who runs the place is the most chill and down to earth man, love u my dude!
somebody "please" teach rob * how to use the computer and not promise an item ordered & price..3 attempts there, each time had no idea & each time had give ph # ..mike is not a lot better & poor customer service.. If you want Great deals and people who know music go to Barrie ..this was like dumb & dumber mixed with Cheech & Chong..
Always enjoy coming here, staff/ owners are always friendly, milling about helping out and talking music with suggestions with their music knowledge. Very John Cusack High Fidelity vibe or Nick Hornby's book if you are so inclined. Always leave with more than I plan on purchasing. Great selections of anything you are interested it.
A super vibey hole-in-the-wall music store with an amazing selection of old and new vinyl and cds. They also now carry a good selection of used books, a lot of very unique posters, TShirts, Patches, and Pins. If you go here you will definitely not leave empty handed :)
Good selection of music and art. Hadn't been in for a long time.
Mike ,, is totally cool ,, I had an issue with a album purchased ,, Issue resolved !!
Some rare gems can be found here. It is also nice to have something tangible
I always pop in whenever I get a chance to. The guys running the place are so knowledgeable and friendly. There is a huge selection of vintage and new records and I've found some fantastic old rare music. There is also a ton of music memorabilia on the newly expanded side of the shop as well. Highly recommend popping in if you're a music lover.
People say music stores are dead. Not if they provide a great selection and amazing customer service. One of my favourite new stores.
Music fan central. Owner is really nice and he’s got an incredible selection of records, tapes, and cds. Also, they’ve got an incredible pulp culture room with all sorts of goodies. Really great place to shop
Purdy cool, the owner spent some time telling me the history of the place and where everything was in the store, I wish I had more time!
Great Record Store
Mike was amazing - I just bought a turntable. He explained the store’s history, helped me locate some albums that I wanted to be my first purchase and also introduced me to a couple of new artists that I had not previously discovered. I will be back.
in there for the first time today.WOW what a great store !!! i live in Barrie and will absolutely by pass the used record store in this town and make the drive up to Alleycats .
If you’re in the Orilla area and looking to find some classic records Or music and art in general, you should check out the store. It’s very small and quaint and the staff are knowledgable
Great selection. Customer service is incredible
Nice shop. Tons of records and well organized. Alot of dollar bin type stuff but also alot of rarities and interesting records to dig through. Also new records are available for purchase and alot of art and cool knick knacky type stuff to check out and to decorate your house with. Very friendly staff. Will definitely come back when we go through Orillia again.
Always fun to go through, love the variety from products to just the selection of music is great.
Knowledgeable staff and always happy to help you find or refine your taste in music!!
Always friendly and interesting.
Mike and Rob know what they are talking about.
Awesome shop to check out if you're in the area! They had a great selection and a really cool setup with the alley linking the two buildings. Mike, the owner was incredibly helpful and even took the time to share a little bit of history regarding the shop, as well as some tips about places to visit in downtown Orillia. Thanks guys!!
Great place. Super selection and friendly staff.
Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to ensure that I was happy with my experience in their establishment . Thank you very much. James Columbus
New vinyl, used CDs, t-shirts and things music related. Made a couple great finds, Marcia Ball and Kenny Wayne Shepard. It's pretty tight quarters but great place for music lovers.
Amazing! My package was accidentally shipped to the wrong address due to a Canada Post typo. Mike took care of everything for me. Made a claim and next thing I know my neighbor is calling me with my package. If you're in the area, or you're shopping online, you NEED to check these guys out. A++
A large selection of records
Awesome place with super friendly staff.
