I was honestly a little worried about attending a restaurant in the era of Covid but the staff at the Stout Monk were clearly diligent in their cleaning practices. They ensured that no one sat too close to me and that people were wearing their masks when getting up from their seat to use the bathroom. This restaurant made me feel safer than most of the places I’ve been to and the food was great. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying meal in a safe space. PS: The staff makes you feel like family and Lina is a funny one!

Amazing food. Especially the Salmom, artichoke dip, and the truffle pudding. Clean bar, the set up kind of reminded me of that show 'Cheers'. Service was okay, could definitely improve going forward. I arrived at the Stout Monk, by chance as Holden and I could not decide where to go for dinner to celebrate his new job promotion. After driving around for a bit we found ourselves in the plaza at Neyagawa and Highway 5. Holden proclaimed that he had been advised of the Stout Monk by our other friend Matt. I did some quick research and came to the conclusion that I would be satisfied as a vegan. We parked the car and went in, looking forward to trying the menu. We also noted that out friend Justin recently bought an apartment that is being built across the street. Upon entry we were seated at a table with plain view of two TV screens, both playing the Leafs game. This was absolutely critical. I was also delighted to see other groups seated around us who were also cheering for the leafs. We began by ordering a beer each. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of beers, and I ordered the Cameron's Jurassic and then the Hop Valley Bubble Stash. I always enjoy a heavy beer and these were each enjoyed thoroughly. I ordered the Beyond Meat Burger with fries and a side garden salad. I was quite hungry when I ordered, but I was shocked when my meal arrived and saw the helping of fries accompanying the burger. I barely managed to finish my meal, feeling utterly satisfied. I must again commend the Stout Monk for giving a generous portion of French fries. The burger was quite tasty as well. I am grateful that the stout monk has a vegan option, I urge them to provide more plant based dishes.

Great bar, average customer service, good selection of beer on tap, but some of the food was not good. Way too much salt on the fries and you can taste the lack of freshness in the food. Stick to the appetizers and beer.

I stopped in here for the first time tonight around 9pm. It was almost empty when I arrived and I was kind of expecting the typical "last man standing" treatment, but the woman working the bar was extremely pleasant and friendly. I had a beer and ordered some wings for takeout. Man, was I pleased when I got home. Their hot wings are not the standard fair about town. I had them grilled (not breaded) and they were absolutely amazing. I've had a lot of wings in the area from a lot of spots claiming to have "the best wings" but these were genuinely head-turning. A unique combination of spices instead of just fried wings with a gallon of hot sauce dumped on top. They weren't huge in size but made up for that in flavour. Which is why I took the time to write a review when I honestly never do. I think I found my new "go to" spot in town. And I wish I could remember the bartender's name so I could give her proper kudos but needless to say she was a good hire by the management. Great first visit :)

"Cheeto crusted jalapeno poppers" 10$ for three jalapeno halves. I know it's Oakville but holy cow - would literally have cost $1 at best for the restaurant to make. Plus, grouchy service and generally poorly executed pub food.

The place was hopping so it's a great local but not for a group gathering. It would seem that our server was unaware that drunk drivers exist - with how often she offered more alcohol! My steak was yummy and great portion size but everyone's fries were way TOO salty. My mom's steak & guiness pie was ground meat (like my dad's shepherd pie) rather than chunks. They comped her already free birthday meal. Our server was assertive - her smiles helped to disarm what was verging on rude (she was "herding cats" since our party of twelve was celebrating two birthdays and since we live in different cities, there was need for lots of catchup... which delayed our looking at the menu). "Don't want to rush you out of here... know you're celebrating... but here are the bills..." * hmphf *

I have frequented the Stout Monk for a few years after hockey for a pint with friends. After meeting the new owner one night his pride in the menu changes and food changes convinced me to bring my family for supper. This was not a good experience unfortunately. The service was okay but staff seemed inexperienced. The food was worse. I ordered the veal sandwich a choice that the owner raved about a few nights before. The veal itself I think was okay but there was no or little sauce or anything besides a piece of cheese. My family's dinner choices although better than my were ordinary at best. I am a big fan of the decor changes that have been made at the Monk, and maybe this pub is best left for my late night pint.

The staff, the food, the beer....pick a hot day, any one and stop here to have a beer. The menu is extensive, but the kitchen is up to the task. I have just started going to this bar, as a New Yorker I am typically very snotty about the places I go to (there is a bar every 2 feet in NY). This place reminds me of what a bar is supposed to be and they take their food seriously. Its clean, its fresh and the food is captivating and tasty every time. Its a unique experience that I enjoy completely and in so many ways. Go, eat here...the staff is incredible and you will love this place as much as I do.

I am a regular at this pub, and anyone who has been there can easily point out the reasons why. The food is very good, the portion sizes are extremely generous and the menu has an incredible variety. You can find a meal to suit just about anybody, including a kids menu. The decor is very complimentary and looks just as you would expect a pub to look, but a very clean one! All decor is beverage or sport related, giving this place a comfortable feel. There are larger, open concept rooms, seats all around the bar which is situated in the middle of the pub, as well as a more low-key private room for a smaller group. Each room has quality flatscreen televisions which are easily viewable for all and the staff are more than willing to accommodate you on the program you wish to watch (satellite television). The staff are all very friendly, polite and prompt with taking orders as well as delivering the food. They immediately clear plates and deliver the bill when requested. I will continue to regularly attend this pub after my golf rounds or whenever I feel like having a pint of my favourite beer (plenty of options on tap).

I have been to the Stout Monk several times in the past couple of years. Wow! I love the atmosphere, I've always had great service and the food is delicious! Try one of the amazing burgers that have their buns brought in by one of the tastiest bakeries in Oakville. Definitely worth a visit!

We enjoyed the breakfast here Sunday. For 5.99 it was an excellent value. Bacon, 2 eggs, seasoned taters and rye toast. Good music from the 80's played. Nice interior. Service was excellent. Looking forward to returning to try the nachos.

Let me tell you about the Stout Monk and why you have to come check it out, then keep coming back for more. The food tastes much better than your average bar food. The wings are perfectly breaded and sauced, and above all HUGE. The nachos, amazing and appetizing. Atmosphere, authentic and tasteful. But above all, the staff make you feel like family. I visited during halloween weekend, and the owners came around distributing jello shots and candy. Making you feel welcomed throughout your visit. If you have not visited yet, I suggest you do. I surely will be coming back.

I have always had an amazing experience here. Family run business with tons of hear. I really feel for businesses - they weren’t designed to be takeout only and they’re doing their best to adapt! Saying this, I had an AMAZING steak sandwich today that even after 20 mins of transportation was hot and fresh! Saturday night and not in the mood to cook. DInner at the local pub it is! It is an open place with dark decor. Seat yourself, smiles, and friendly service. It's typical pub food plus some healthier choices and variety for picky eaters. Ordered the lemon pepper salmon and the steak frites with salad instead of fries. Food was fresh and tasty and the service was great.

This really is a great pub. The food is top notch from the giant wings to the perfectly executed burgers. The best thing is that the menu goes well beyond your standard pub fare. The specials are always creative and there really is something for just about everyone. The taps are good, but if there is one area that could be improved upon, this would be it. There are too many basics (Bud, Bud Light, etc.), which don't leave enough room for some of the great craft beers that are out now. 4.5 stars.

I’m so happy this place has opened again. Rino and family have turned it into one of Oakville’s hidden gems! It looks awesome inside and the new menu is delicious. I tried the ribs and they taste like classic back ribs from a BBQ joint. They absolutely melt in your mouth. I think I’ve found my new neighborhood pub!

Tried to book reservations and the lady on the phone was beyond. I completely understand the COVID restrictions in place. I am a family of 7 and we were going to sit 4 and 2 separately with no mixing. She was BEYOND rude in telling me that was defeating the purpose of the rules in place and that she would be strictly enforcing we don't mix tables, even though I had said I was making two different reservations with the understanding we would not be all sitting together. Explain to me how having one family bubble in there at different tables is worse than two tables in there with people from all different bubbles that met up for dinner?? So then you must have a different server assigned to each table because if not that would be defeating the purpose because now that server is mixing with EVERYONE!! There would have been a nicer way to ensure I understood we couldn't sitting together, however I was very clear when I was attempting to make the reservation that I understood that. I will be sure to tell all my family and friends and there are a TON of restaurants with much better customer service!

Lamb sliders appetizer with a side of fries for my first visit today. The Sheppards Beef pie with a side of fries is known to be really good here, and I plan on trying it next visit with my partner Dave the kissy face! Excellent customer service and lots of free parking. Nice atmosphere inside. The patio with tables is out front and available, but the view of McDonald's is not appealing but hey they tried. I will return.

Oakville certainly has no shortage of pubs (a good thing) and the Stout Monk is one of the more comfortable locations to kick back for a beer and pub food. Wing nights on Mondays is a personal favorite, but at any time I have always experienced friendly service and good pub atmosphere. It could benefit from some more comfortable seating, but all in all worth a visit if you are looking to relax in a local pub.

Nice little gem! The food is extremely delicious and the music is on point! I had the sliders which were phenomenal! Definitely an interesting way to make a patty that doesn't taste tradition but tastes equally delicious if not better. I asked about it and it was a family recipe which is another incredibly thing about the place; it's family owned and run. The staff was all incredibly welcoming and friendly and you can tell it's a respectful family business. The wing flavours were delicious! Ceasars come well garnished which is a plus for me ;) Also a pattern ship with Cameron's, a local brewery in Oakville, they offer some of their delicious beers! worth trying out! (sorry I ate.most of the food before taking pictures omnomnom)

We consider ourselves regulars and, on many occasions, have been turned away because the owners are VIGILANTLY DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE TO UPHOLD & ENFORCE HEALTH LAWS...AMIDST A PANDEMIC! Despite being turned away, and despite being regulars...NEVER did it occur to us go online, hide behind a cloak of entitlement, lack of empathy, and not to mention cowardice...and GIVE A FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS DOING THEIR BEST TO NAVIGATE THIS PANDEMIC A POOR REVIEW because we didn't get things our way or weren't told "no" nicely enough...IT'S BEYOND CHILDISH. I am rating 3 stars because of the restrooms . The woman’s bathroom is extremely dirty. I have been to this pub often and I have to say over the years the restroom is lacking detail. Soap and paper towels is a must and the toilets need a good cleaning... replacing would be better... my shoes stuck to the floor I was really turned off... I have been coming to this pub onand off for years (10 years) and I don’t think I will be back. Please clean up the restrooms!!! P.s. my husband thought he same of the men’s restrooms!

Really good all around place. Quick, polite and attentive service. We had the hot wings and fish & chips and they were both very tasty and filling. They followed all covid stuff too. Will definitely be back when in the area

First and last time ordering from here. Everything we ordered was bad. I ordered the cheeseburger paid $2 extra for bacon and specified no lettuce and tomato. It showed up with no bacon. Lettuce & tomato on it, onion straws and jalapeño which wasn’t even mentioned on the menu. As someone who can’t tolerate spice, it was definitely not a happy surprise. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm sandwich and it was so dry he couldn’t even eat half. We also got the monk bread which was also incredibly dry. Last but not least, the poutine. The fries were cold and the gravy was clearly from a can. So unimpressed with this experience, we will definitely not be eating from here again.

If you like great food, great atmosphere and great staff, then you need to visit the Stout Monk. Also, if you are worried about COVID, no need to be here. They take every precaution possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable experience. I had the Monk cheeseburger and was told by my server that it was a family recipe. Delicious!! The nachos were layered and delicious as well. Great selection of domestic, imported and craft beers as well. The Stout Monk also offers you the choice of sitting at the beautiful central bar or escaping to one of the smaller rooms for a drink or dinner. Always a great touch when the owner comes out and asks if everything was to my liking. Looking forward to my next visit to the Monk!!

I absolutely love this place. One of my most favorite bars in all of Oakville. I recently moved out of the area and I miss this place dearly. I love the bartenders and the people who come to this bar quite often. You always be greeted by smiles and polite servers whenever you enter. If you're looking for food, their perogies and flatbreads are out of this world. My favorite dish is the polish platter with chorizo sausages. The place is a small cozy bar to bring your dates to or to just hang out with friends after work. I plan on returning to this place if I'm ever in the area.

My boyfriend and I visited The Stout Monk for the first time today. We were very impressed with the service, food and atmosphere!! We love the fact it is family owned. You can definitely tell they take pride in making their customers feel welcomed and at home. Lina and her son Lucas were great hosts! I had the Buffalo chicken wrap, my other half had the steak sandwich, both with fries. Food was excellent!! Good selection of beer and one of the best Caesars we’ve had. Please give this pub a try! This most definitely will be our go to spot for sure! Thank you again Lina and Lucas. Until next time!☺️

My first or perhaps last visit to this place as solo. 5 stars for food, drinks and ambiance, -3 stars for service. Even though I asked for bar seat but I felt like owner lady thought once to allow single occupancy or not. Anyways after that I have to keep looking for staff to ask for everything from cutlery , tissues, repeat order and everything else. However I liked the ambiance.

Came here for the first time with a friend. We arrived late at night and were accomodated to the outside patio. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff was friendly and nice. We ordered the the pierogie flatbread, the cauliflower wings and churros and ice cream for dessert. Staff was very accomodating with mishaps and the cauliflower wings were so delicious and fried to perfection with the thai sauce. Was overall happy with the customer service and food and would be interested in trying other options.

I ordered from here on SkiptheDishes a good two hours before close. Ordered nachos, wings, and a poutine. After an hour of waiting for my food the restaurant cancels my order with ZERO NOTICE. Now all the other restaurants have closed (It was Sunday and due to covid there are curfews on when businesses can be open) and I am left out to dry. If you don't know how to use food service apps or at the very least communicate with your customers an accurate representation of what is happening then don't even bother. If I had known that they needed more time or that they could not fill my order I would have cancel it quicker and ordered somewhere else while I still had time. I am extremely disappointed.

Last time I was here was a few years ago, and it was awful! But the new owners have renovated, upgraded, and seriously improved their quality and service standards. I'm delighted to change this from a 1 star to a 5 star review based on my recent experience! A few years ago, this place was dark, sticky, and gross feeling. The bar was poorly stocked, the lines were dirty, and the wait staff couldn't care less. For lack of a better option tonight, I found myself back at The Stout Monk... Only this time, it was clean, bright, and almost every available table was occupied (less capacity due to covid). The service was excellent, and the drinks were tasty. The whole vibe of the place has changed, and you can tell the new owners really care.

I was there around 2pm, pub was not busy, bartender was more interested into speaking with people that she knew than ensuring that people were getting severed or followed up with. Another staff member ended up checking in on me after I was done with my beverage and meal. If newcomers with treated like the regulars they will be come regulars as well.
