I have been on the matchmaking service for over 2 years and I have only had 3 dates and they were unsuccessful. When I asked why I was not getting any dates she said that if you were not overweight you would get more matches because guys like skinny woman. The customer service is terrible and would not recommend the service at all. I also went to the speed dating events and never got a match.

Through Single in the City's Matchmaking program, I met someone very special; we are extremely happy and planning a future together. Although I don't have a crystal ball, I know our chances are good based on everything I've learned and experienced since working with you to find a life partner. For those of you still looking and perhaps feeling discouraged, I hope you reach out to Laura, get out there for speed dating and singles events and don't give up. Laura is a fantastic coach but you have to bring an open mind and degree of dedication to the table. My search took over a year and prior to working with Laura, involved a lot of trial and error! Through SINTC, I learned what to do, what to look for and started meeting more and more appropriate, potential partners until one really "clicked". And, as you can imagine, it was all very much worth it.

I paid for coaching on Dec 28, 2020. I did not hear back from Laura. So, I inquired with her. She could not find my payment, which my bank confirmed the order had been processed from my bank card. She finally confirmed that I had paid. She apologized for the mix up. Our schedules didn't match up. When I went to get back to her, she didn't respond. She said she was sick for two weeks. Had difficulty getting a refund because they couldn't find the payment. It took a lot of back and forth but finally got a refund. Not a great experience.

I love Single in the City! I’m not going to lie, I was nervous as hell about speed dating. One of my friends and I decided to go to a Single in the City speed dating event held here in Toronto solely from word of mouth, cuz we heard they had a great reputation. I was very impressed because the attendees were genuinely single, the venue was quite classy, no awkwardness and no segregation in the sexes and the mingling was definitely on. Ive landed two amazing dates so far and will be attending again. Will also spread the word to others, keep up the awesome work. Thanks.

I had never heard of anybody taking speed dating seriously. Everyone either goes for laughs or to 'get back out there.' I was mainly bored, looked up some sites here in Tdot and found Single in the City. They seemed reputable, so I decided to give it a try, I signed up for the Singles Club on the site, it’s only $125. The first two speed dating events I went to, seemed pretty cool, the people weren’t awkward at all. I didn’t like the information overload, even though the venue was very nice, it was too packed and I couldn’t remember names, lol. The third one I went to was just for fun again and I met my gorgeous girl, Ayanna, we’ve been together for 7 months now. SITC is the way to go, guys, go enjoy yourself, you never know who you may meet.

I gave one star because it's the lowest rating I could give! I think this match making business is taking advantage of single men who look for companion. The success rate is very low even though they say otherwise, and there is a lot of misleading information. Sometimes I think that the girls they have in the speed dating events are actresses just to show participation. I attended three events, and those girls were really fake. I also signed up for the matchmaking program, and I completed my profile immediately after. I was very interested and hoping that the program was real, but I never got a response at all despite my inquiries through emails or in person at their events. When I asked for a refund since I never got the service or even a reply, they said they don't give refunds! This is not a debate I am posting to get a response from the owner. It's a reflection of true experience to warn other guys.

I have attended a few speed dating events with Single in the City as well as been matched up by Laura with several eligible bachelors. My experience was great - the events are fun, interactive and always full of new singles to meet! I would highly recommend checking out an event or two as Laura always offers a variety of activities to choose from. Also, just to touch on some of the negative reviews posted I wanted to back up Laura's responses that dating is a two way street. Whether any of us like it or not, it is highly competitive out there so you MUST bring your 'A' game! Put yourself out there, smile, be positive. You cannot pay $125 and expect the love of your life to drop at your feet like a candy from a vending machine. Go to the events. Go to ten if you have to! Your match will appear eventually!

My experience with dating services was limited to dated sites, which is something I do not want to experience again! So when I came across Single in the City I was cautious, but after my research I decided to give speed dating a try. It was amazing and what a joy to talk to real people instead of fake people that are online dating sites who aren't really who they say they are. I give this a thumbs up for anyone looking to leave the virtual world and meet real decent people face to face. As a business owner, my time is very valuable and speed dating worked for me. I got a few connections and went on a couple of dates, nothing panned out for the long term but I will try it again.

My wife and I would like to send out a big THANK YOU to Single in the City and speed dating because that is how we met. We met speed dating in November 2014 the first time and then again in February 2015 and are now happily married. We owe it all to speed dating and it's very unique concept. We both feel that speed dating is the most efficient and effective way to meet someone special. You will end up meeting up to 20 people who are all looking for the same thing, someone to be with. It certainly beats online dating in so many ways: 1. You see the person, you know that they are real and who they say they are, it sounds like a small thing but surprisingly important since there is no catfishing involved and they really are who they say they are. I wanted to meet someone in person it sounds like a big deal but it is a big deal. 2. You can tell if there is at least a spark between you if there is chemistry. At least you see if there is a chance that the relationship will work out. Psychologists say you know if you like someone in 4 minutes (speed dates are generally between 3 and 5 minutes.... hmmm) 3. You can see if they can carry a conversation and if you watch, you can see how they treat other people. 4. Speed dating gives you an honest assessment about what is out there in the dating world. Speed dating also forces you to give a person a second chance as you are forced to talk to them a second time if you meet them on a second speed date which is exactly what happened between my wife and I and she finally came to her senses, picked me and now we are MARRIED. One of the best things about speed dating is it gives you the opportunity to be a match maker yourself. I introduced one of my best friends to his beautiful wife as I met her on a speed date and said to her, "you aren't for me but I know someone you would be perfect for" . Those two have been married for 6 years.. Again we just want to give a big THANK YOU to Single in The City and speed dating for introducing us and our friends and tell all you single people out there that speed dating is the most efficient and effective way to meet people. SO GO OUT AND SPEED DATE WITH SINGLE IN THE CITY. Thank YOU!!!!!

Kristine Doherty, It must be nice to receive matches from Laura. Some of us don't know how that feels, I haven't received a match from her in years. Never met one person through her service. Awful experience that I would never recommend to anyone. FYI, I followed your story since you were featured on her TV show a few years ago. Obviously you two are friends. So naturally your review will be supportive but it doesn't tell the entire story for what the experience has been like for other people. It has been miserable and a complete waste of time in so many ways. But Laura just doesn't care and always seems to justify her actions by spinning the story. She has an answer for everything and always puts the blame back on her clients. Just so you know when I met her and mentioned seeing you and Ross on TV, she laughed about your nose ring and made a few unpleasant comments about you.

Signed up for the matchmaking service and I guess I didn't pay attention close enough, because I did not realize that you had to pay $50 for each BLIND date on top of the $150 fee. It's not the money, it's the fact that you can't even see a single picture of who you are about to meet? I guess they wouldn't make as much money that way? No thanks, lots of dating sites where you can share multiple pictures, establish rapport, etc. without having to put all your "trust" with your matchmaker. I also tried 3 of the speed dating events, and there were more males than females which means you sometimes get to pick your nose for a little while. I didn't hear anything back from Laura or her staff for 2 weeks, emails not responded to, voicemail not returned, showed up late for our meeting, and not even offered my complimentary speed dating pass! lol You can keep it! Would not recommend the match making service or speed dating to anyone.

I signed up for the $125 Date by Design. I met Laura for the half hour initial interview. Two months later I am still waiting for my first match. I am disappointed in the Service as I don't think I am that hard to match and I have had success on other online platforms. From a cost benefit analysis I just don't think the service is worth it as in addition to $125 initial fee you also pay a fee of $75 for each match.

Laura is terrific, I'm definitely a fan of hers. She has great character and judgement. After I went to my first event in 2017, she followed up and spent time getting to know me as a person. Dating is never simple, so it's important to have the understanding and belief of your matchmaker through the process. Laura has provided me with several quality dates, and though I haven't found a fit yet, I have a great deal of respect and trust for who Laura is, and what she does. And I absolutely believe that her process can work.

I couldn’t agree more with some of the other reviews from last year. Laura took my $125 and I barely ever hear from her. No matches nothing for over a year. I can’t believe she treats her clients this way. I have a few friends that have joined and they have gone through the same thing with her. She is so nice to your face when your joining and paying her. But after that you never hear from her. Eventually she ignores your emails and you realize you’ve paid her for absolutely nothing. I guess she loves ripping people off. Sad news for people going forward is she’s raising it to $150 Poor individuals have no idea they are just throwing money away. She needs to learn how to treat people with respect. I will give her credit because she is a very clever business woman. She is always smiling and nice in person but people don’t see the real her until it’s too late and you throw away your money. She is all about gaining popularity and money. Most of us don’t care about that small amount of money of $125 and that’s why she convinces people to join her service. But it’s the principle that matters, she just doesn’t understand how bad her behaviour is and it’s unacceptable to treat people this way. Very unethical, unprofessional and heartless to take advantage of people.

I went to a few of the Single in the City events which were always a ton of fun. They were all classy events with some interesting people to talk to. I finally went to one of the Valentine's Day parties several years ago. I really only went to have a great night out, enjoy some dancing and just meet some new people. That night, I met a wonderful man. It turns out we had been close neighbors in Toronto but had never met! Small world :) We are now engaged and will be married as soon as Covid eases up. I also signed up for the match making service and yes Laura said it will take time to find a match. I waited and two month later she matched me with someone. We were suppose to meet but sadly she never showed up and then I was told by Danielle that she already met someone else. Then I was given a complimentary speed dating event , so I had taken it and picked 8/12 women and got zero matches. And this was the third speed dating event I been to and it will be the last. Anyway I am done with dating and at 42 it's hopeless to find anyone in the GTA. I am going overseas to find quality women.

Had a great experience having Laura as my date coach. I bought into her Get The Total Approach program for men and I was really impressed at the amount of informative information. I can happily say I’ve finally come out of my shell and I’m able to approach women without fear of rejection. I’ve had a few dates since the program and I feel a lot more confident than I ever have. I’ve been to (at least) TEN (10) SITC speed dating events. After wasting more than $500, I can say without hesitation, that each event was progressively worse than the one before. 99% of the people you meet at these events have no substance and are extremely superficial. Even simple and normal people are not good enough for these crowds. Nobody wants to talk and have a bloody conversation to entertain the possibility of a simple connection. The people I have met are from both Toronto and Mississauga. The caliber of people that SITC attracts and brings to their events is pathetically low. Sure, everyone is “friendly” but they’re not serious about ANYTHING. Some members are downright rude and insolent. Avoid joining Single in the City at all costs. More reasons to avoid SITC: Hosts are unhelpful and disorganized. The locations are absolutely not conducive for speed dating. There is too much noise and chaos. Everyone seems to be in a “rush” as well. Oh yeah, after $500, I didn’t get even a single match. It’s a waste of money but more importantly, it’s a waste of your precious time.

Had a similar case as Justine. Signed up for match making paid $125 and nothing ever happened 4 months later. They tell you it might take a while to find a match, probably so they can wait you out so you can't contest the transaction with your credit card company. Also, the positive reviews are a little suspicious as they all end with an "!" seems like a pretty unique writing style for three separate people to have but who am I to say. Long story short don't waste you money and more importantly your time with this one.
