Well finally back to Moxies for a friend’s birthday lunch today. The restaurant is so well set up to keep safe distancing for diners. Hand sanitizer available where you wait to get seated etc. As always, service and food excellent. Appreciated the complementary dessert for our friend who was celebrating her (belated) birthday. Definitely looking forward to resuming our pre- COVID lunch routine here!

I have to say he gave our party of 6 absolutely incredible service, pretty much the best service I’ve had anywhere in my opinion! Ordered spicy tuna starter, full rack of ribs and sticky toffee pudding. Sushi was good, ribs weren't tough but weren't exactly fall off the bone as claimed and the sticky toffee pudding was good but I prefer mine a little warmer. The roast potatoes that came with the ribs was my favorite part. Our server Callie was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was nice, no loud music, just the sound of people having a good time. Overall a nice place to eat, nothing extraordinary but worth the money. Better than Earl's but not quite Cactus.

Server was really nice and food was ok. We got the beef dip and ginger asian rice dish. I think it's a little expensive for what we got, but not a bad experience overall.

Tuna salad. Good tuna but some of the greens were slime, no excuse for poor ingredients. Apparently not the first complaint of the day. I guess the chef does not care. No apology, no credit, no way I ever go back.

Great salmon and calamari, nice ambiance, not busy for lunch. Taking off one star cuz we got some attitudal service couple of times when dining in, but the rest of times everything was great, depends on what person you get. All in all pretty good, we'll be back!

Firstly, the service we received tonight was exceptional! RJ was by far one of the best servers my friend and I have ever had! He was very attentive and made it his first priority to really create a fun environment. RJ was very charming and energetic and really made our night even better than we could pictured. Secondly, the food was amazing! We will definitely be back for drinks with RJ!!

Great tasting food and reasonable prices. The staff are good and very helpful. Lots of free parking after 6pm on the street and free parking Sundays. Nice decor and comfortable seating. All adding up to a wonderful dining experience.

Moxies has a traditional feel to it, while continuing to be trendy with its meals. The menu has reasonability with prices and portions are sizable. Staff are very friendly and are quick to explain or suggest items off the menu when asked. Atmosphere is good, with soundproofing tiles on the ceiling to help damper the amount of noise you will hear when dining, there is also a fire stove oven to watch (sometimes men spinning pizza's) which gives a nice warmth when you sit near the far end of the restaurant. The sports bar is good and you can order just drinks if that was your desire, and the staff will make friendly conversation if you feel like it. Great over all. I personally loved it.

They do a good job of more standard western food like steak, potatoes, ribs, and roast chicken. But I'm not a big fan of the more "ethnic" dishes here. They just don't do enchiladas right.

I came in for dinner last night, and the cob salad was fantastic. As good as the food was my server is the reason I will recommend your establishment to friends and family. Jenn has great energy about her, and was extremely attentive and helpful. I have a lunch meeting scheduled today and I've moved it to Moxies. 5 Stars!

Very delicious meals. Would recommend the mushroom steak to anyone. Ribs and chicken was juicy and delicious aswell but chicken was very very spicy. Rose sangria was delicious. Server was attentive and professional. Atmosphere was electric. Felt like we were out on a upbeat Friday night but it was only Wednesday. Dont think children should be allowed in the bar area but that's just me.

Don't go here we booked a private wedding function here in their private room and we had one person in the party that was not vaccinated and it was the Father of the Bride and they would not let him in so he could not attend his daughters reception and had to leave but it was a private party it doesn't make any sense they were not part of the restaurant they were up in there private room

After a long day of sightseeing, the last thing I needed was average food and wait staff that were more into each other than doing their job! Waited 30 min for our food, and the place was about half full at best. The waiter looked at us several times and didn't check on us once, I guess all the hugs and conversations from other staff and friends were the focus of his night. Then they forgot the appetizer, after our food was delivered and 10 min in the meal, the server came over to tell us they ran out of that particular appetizer. That was on top of the pizza they ran out of as well. Plain over priced Ceaser, chewy steak sandwich and half cooked broccoli. Only thing good was the toffee bread pudding. Too many great options around to bother with this place!

Moxies has always been a favourite. " I've never had a bad meal " is what I hear often when you mention Moxies. Service is top notch and kitchen staff are there to provide a good meal. Happy to see sticky toffee pudding back on the menu. Try the happy hour for extra savings.

Had the worst dinner here recently (October 2020). I pre-booked a table for 3 and we were given a table for 6 (2 tables put together, which was super awkward, not cozy or nice at all, it would have been nice if they could have separated the tables to make it not feel like we were the only diners in a banquet hall. It was at least 10 feet from other diners in the big empty space by the aquarium, which albeit I did ask to be "near" for our 5 year old. We adults had the 7oz sirloins which was the thinnest gamiest, gristle filled piece of meat I've ever seen in a nice restaurant, well over the rare we ordered. I guess the gristle strips conducted the heat through the flesh and the little strips of meat in between got overcooked..? At the time I was really really disappointed but also understanding that Covid has hurt restaurants business and profits so instead of raising the prices they cut back on quality and sides. I would have preferred to pay more and not leave hungry. We even shared an unmemorable appetizer and a dessert, how does $120 worth of food not fill up 2 women and a child? The service was fine but I've enjoyed Denny's more (similar gamey cut of sirloin) for a third of the price. I will never go back.

Pretty standard Moxie's.....which is to say it's a good spot. Food was very tastey, even though I only had chicken fingers. Service was prompt and attentive. Good selection of drinks. The atmosphere seems a wee bit more upscale compared to the one's I've been to in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Seems like a good date spot!

These guys are great! Ordered a salad through skip the dishes that was incorrect when I received it and within the hour they had delivered the correct salad with no questions asked. Thank you so much for fixing the issue and the salad was SO good :)

Surprisingly fashionable. Good drinks, good food. Environment was nice. Service was good. We went for a business function and had a balcony up top and it was good with a mini bar and bathrooms so we didn't have to go up and down the stairs . Our group was surprised at the level.

This is our go-to restaurant for a bowl of vegan/vegetarian ramen in Victoria. Their miso broth ramen is yummy. This time we tried the lettuce wraps and they were also so delicious. It is definitely a must try.

I have lived downtown Victoria for the last 12 years. I love the level of professionalism of the servers of Moxie's. Several of my favourite items on the menu have been discontinued due to Moxie's HQ but the atmosphere and the servers service puts them above the rest of Victoria. My two favourite servers are RJ Fraser and Sig. Every time I have entered Moxies RJ has always made my wife and I feel special and is aware of our food (and wine) history. He will even come outside to say hello when we are just passing by to the grocery store to say hi. Keep it up guys. This is exactly what we need in this crazy time we are all living in right now. Bravo

Fantastic. I've been to a few Moxie's across Canada and our local takes the cake. The owner is a cosummate professional restarauteur. He hires excellent front end staff primarily supporting local post secondary institution students. His kitchen staff are of the highest caliber, delivering consistant excellence. The decor and location are superb. It truly is the hidden gem of uptown downtown Victoria.

The double cheese nachos were more like half chees, overall tiny portions. The chicken fingers rubbery, dry, and bland. The calamari was bland, overcooked and had large amounts of shrimp as filler. The food had been great in the past, but has gone very far downhill in the last year.

We are usually a group of 24-30 and we order off a Regular Menu and require separate bills and always on a very busy Saturday night. Approaching our 2nd Anniversary we have spent seven of our dinners at Moxie`s. Never once has a Dinner been returned to the masters of there kitchen which is quite an accomplishment when thinking of the number of guests in all those visits. Nice decor, staff are great, kinda hidden away, food is consistently good and great presentation. They have a nice room upstairs for partys, meetings or baby showers. I can't remember the girls that served us for our baby shower a couple weeks back, but they were great and attentive to our guests.

Beautiful restaurant, great service. Delicious food. It's a very unique looking Moxie's, it looks nothing like the Ontario Moxie's. It has a stone oven, and you can see it and the kitchen from the restaurant. We had a window seat, it was nice. :)

My table's burger sat on the shelf for 10 minutes while we watched it. When we called them out on this they threw it back onto the grill until it was inedible char rather than serve a new one. The pizza from the pretty pizza oven was bland and doughy. I got the fish tacos which were soggy, gross, and gave me excruciating food poisoning for the next 36 hours, ruining the rest of my visit to Victoria. Avoid this place!

Okay - so 5 stars for service and 2 of the best mojitos in Victoria. My wife's dinner - noodles, an excellent sauce and chicken 4.5 out of 5 stars and then there was my chew-fest they called a steak. Most of it came home in a box and after rinsing off an excellent sauce or topping got cut up into small pieces and into the dogs' bowl. They loved it. So 1 out of 5 on the steak, 5 out of 5 for service gives them a 6 out 10 for my side and 9.5 for my wife's side.... so 15.5 out of 20 or 7.75 out of 10 or 3.5 out of 5. I'm rounding it down because after explaining to both of the wait staff that the steak was so chewy I was going to try it on my dogs - all I got from the waiter was the bill and from the young lady wait helper was a dragging comment about how sometimes they get a supply of steak that is chewy and she would tell the chef. However, that didn't make the my steak any less chewy. Oh well till next time. Gjc

Beautiful location . Only thing that bothered me was the male manager in his early-mid 30's was very touchy/ lingering touch type with his wait-staff who all looked like they were between the ages of 18-21. If its obvious to the patrons, how are the girls feeling?? Hmmm. So food and mostly atmosphere was good. Decor was nice, the building has charm.

Fantastic restaurant. Stunning and luxurious atmosphere, with enormous fountain and aquarium showcased at entrance; two levels, kitchen fully in view, and including outdoor seating for the very long warm seasons in Victoria. Food is reasonably priced considering ambiance, service level, and quality of food. I recommend the honey garlic steak, personally, as they excel at their grill work there, and this steak really is one of the best in all of Victoria. They have an outstanding white chocolate brownie dessert, that's absolutely delicious and unique, and this restaurant is unique in that I always order this dessert every time I eat there. It's that good!

Enjoyed a lovely Mothers Day brunch. Moxie's restaurant was especially beautiful because of all the pretty colored flowered house plants that they give free to every moms on Mothers Day. Nice touch! Allowances were easily made for my diet restrictions request (Gluten Free). Their Salmon Omelet was amazing! The host and waitress gave outstanding service. Wait time to receive meal was appropriate. We live in the neighborhood and have come to consider Moxies Yates St our go to spot! We entertain clients there and visit with friends at least 1 Friday evening per month. The food is excellent, the COVID protocols make us feel safe, the staff are exemplary and the vibe is just awesome. We have come to know our server, RJ over the last few years and it's become our routine to sit in his section because he makes us feel welcome and is attentive without being overbearing, he is professional and friendly and personable. He has an awarness of what we need need before we need to ask. Our experience is always perfect! We look forward to our Moxie evenings! We love supporting our local spot - it feels like home.

I went for lunch there and had a caesar salad with prawns and a Mojito. Both were delicious, the garlic toast that came with the salad was done perfectly. I only took a star off because the menu didn't have a lot that appealed to me but you can't go wrong with a salad. The waitress was also very attentive.

It would have been really nice of the management to update the hours/renovation closure of this location so people coming in from out of town to dine here could simply look at google and trust it to be accurate. I run my own business and it's really not that hard to do, for the sake of your customers. Showed up here after driving the 40 mins into town, paying for parking, and arrived to a sign on the door saying excuse us while we renovate. Location was closed. Had to readjust plans last minute with out of town guests and it was extremely frustrating. I won't be coming here in the future as a result. Disappointing to say the least.

I ordered sirloin steak for pick up last friday night and was very disappointed with the food I got. The steak was about 4 or 5 oz. It wasn't overcooked but for some reason it's really dry. This review is long overdue. We’ve been regulars since before our kids were born. (13+ years). I don’t remember a negative experience. Consistently great food, service, atmosphere. Perfect for families, couples or groups. So welcoming and warm. Whenever we bring up the idea of going out for dinner, Moxies is the first place our kids suggest. And we happily oblige. I was in Moxie's yesterday. I ordered the Street Tacos. I watched as my dish was placed on the server counter, ready to be taken to our table. They just sat there. When they finally arrived, the tortilla was soggy and I could not pick up the tacos and eat them by hand; they just fell apart. i had to eat them with a knife and fort, defeating the purpose of the "hand held" section of the menu. They were also cold. In hindsight, I would have asked for two more tortillas and a re-heating but neither of these requests occurred to me at the time, out of a misguided sense of politeness, I suppose. My advice to Moxie's, then, would be to serve tacos right away and not let them just sit there getting soggy.

We were a large team group, visiting Victoria for the weekend. The ambiance here was great and our server was fantastic-she went above and beyond to accommodate us all. 16 minutes ago- I rarely review anything under 3 stars. But tonight's experience was poor to start and then worst by the end. We went in for a late night happy hour drink/bite around 945pm. The server was taking our order and as a neighbour and patron, I knew that it was happy hour. When asked about the happy hour menu, we were told there was none for night time. A few minutes after the server left the table he returned and provided us with a correction that there was a happy hour menu. No big deal, we were still able to order off of it. 10 minutes later we receive the food and the fries were yam instead of regular potatoes that we had ordered. We got that fixed and were offered them for free. That's nice of the server, but still an error with nothing to gloat about, especially when he came back to say that we ended up getting to enjoy both fries. Still nothing worthy to have me write a negative review on. The last straw was that my friend bought a gift card from Moxies directly on the Moxies website and the reason we went there tonight (as she is from out of town and there are better options as a tourist) was because she had the gift card. The gift card unfortunately was not working due to the fact the company's platform that Moxies works with was out of service and we were told that it happens often. So they told us the gift card that we purchased directly from Moxies would not work and that we need to come back another time when it hopefully works. No other option such as a discount was provided. Both the manager and server responded with "I'm just a worker /server here, what do you want me to do? It's $77.30". As a large chain restaurant this is far from acceptable. And as a resident who lives across the street, I will not be recommending anyone to go to their restaurant unless they accept the poor handling of this situation. This was not a good night in dining out for my friend who is visiting from out of town.

Moxies must have some of the better training or exceptional hiring in Victoria. The staff are curtious and attentive often bringing things before you ask including add ons that compliment a dish and not charging for it. It's quite rare to find customer service at that level especially from a chain. I almost feel bad for calling it a chain.

Moxie's is a great place to go if you want to go metal utensil eating without getting too fancy. Think of it as a step between Boston Pizza and the Keg. The wait staff are always friendly and the food is never bad. Sometimes it can feel a bit pricey and the bar can get a bit noisy, but it's a good place to go for some good food without having to get dressed too snazzy.

My family and I are regulars at Moxie's. We love the food, the friendly atmosphere, and that the staff are so good at dealing with babies/toddlers, despite not being a traditional "family style" restaurant. They provide a high chair or booster, try to seat us close to the fish tank, provide child-proof cups/lids and we've even been given plates of fruit for the kids before. Moxie's just has that perfect combination of great service and excellent food that we enjoy as a family. I enjoy the sushi roll, tacos, and the flat bread / veggie / dip plates as smaller meals for lunch, and have tried and liked most of the brunch menu too. My husband also enjoys visiting Moxie's in the evenings for a beer and bite, where he's always able to find a seat at the bar. Moxie's patio is also a tranquil place to sit in the summer with a hard lemonade and plate of nachos. One of my favourite restaurants in Victoria.

I have been a guest at other Moxie's restaurants and while they are always consistently good, none compare to Moxie's on Yates. Whether it's outside on the patio soaking up the sunshine or soaking up the atmosphere indoors, Moxie's on Yates never disappoints. My new favorite menu item is the Veggie Power Bowl--it's fantastic! The service is always top notch (big shout out to RJ, he's amazing), the staff are personable and attentive. No matter how busy, you always feel as if you're the only guests being taken care of. For date night or a night out with friends, Moxie's on Yates is a great go to.

Came here last night from Vancouver and had Sig as my server. I had no idea he was a server until the very end. He gave the the best service ever I was convinced he was the manager. So passionate about the company and the people I couldn’t believe it when he told us he’s not a manager. Hopefully that changes soon because everyone needs to learn his type of service. Ordered a jug of rose sangria he would pour it for us, take his time getting the berries and fruits, come back to refill it for us. We love this place. My daughter aged 11 asked to have dinner here for her birthday. She asked for all kinds of things such as ordering a non alcoholic beer ???? among others..lol the waitstaff were all patient and very good humored about it all. I wonder if this was a first for them to have a child ask for that. Just FYI, it does have .5%alcohol in it. So, they were unable to serve it to her. They actually had to look the regulations up on this. It was a great night with great food and equally great service above and beyond.

This Moxie's is far above the usual chain Moxie's, you don't get a family restaurant feel about all though kids are absolutely welcome. It's a great place for anything from a family dinner to a lunch with friends or a hot date :) I also love their private party room that you can reserve for larger groups, it's the perfect spot to host parties.

On our second visit, we got seated and our waiter greets us right away. Asked how we are. Knew it was my daughter's birthday ???? She was turning 12 and said to her right away, dessert is on the house for her, and same with any fancy drink she likes. (Non-alcoholic) The waiter help her pick a great drink to try. Our order was taken. Our waiter, his name was Sig. Was phenomenal. He was always on top of our drinks and needs. When he took our orders, some of us had modified our dish and he would make sure it wasn't an allergy we had. All orders came out correct and hot! And so tasty. Over all experience here is fabulous! Absolutely come and have dinner or lunch here! Must try. I also hope you get Sig. He was so amazing at his job! I have eaten out enough times, and I have NEVER EVER experienced that kind of service before. I wish all waiters and waitresses were like Sig. He seriously was phenomenal.

I got tired of cooking after work so decided to treat myself to Moxie's tonight. I opted for their burger bundle meal and was concerned how the fries would hold up in transit but I needn't have worried. Everything was delicious! The bun wasn't soggy or squashed and the fries and wings were still pretty crispy. Everything was really well packed in separate containers and the beer recommendation was spot on. Pick-up was orderly and well managed and staff were really pleasant, even expressing gratitude for our order. It almost felt like being waited on at a table despite standing outside. We thoroughly enjoyed our night "out"!

I found that waitress we had lacked in the customer service area for getting menus to us despite it being like near closing time but the whoever the chef was cooking on Tuesday he made my stake(medium rare) perfectly. We live a couple blocks from this Moxies location. We have been returning for the wonderful service we have received from several staff. We have had a server name Sig several times, it was such an excellent experience that we started to ask for his section. He was off this shift, so we were left with RJ. He exudes a certain confidence I appreciate in a server that really dictates the pace of the evening. We jokingly compared the relationship to a dance, and he was leading. We immediately felt assured by his suggestions of food, drink and most importantly the pace of the evening. Sig was there tonight, he spent time after his shift to say hello and talk about life. Go to this location and you will receive great service.

I love this place. The food is always delicious, in my opinion. I usually go on Mondays wing night and the wings are a good size. Only a few select flavours for the wings but a good selection of other food. The beverages I can't speak on too much, as I habitually choose the same few drinks. Very impressed when I went with a group last weekend and my food didn’t come when the other’s did so I ended up getting my food free as well as a choice of side salad/fries while I waited (which was not very long). Will definitely be coming back!

Expensive but great food and service. In this case you get what you pay for. The Calamari shrimp tempura appy was pretty good, they cooked peices of ginger with it which was different. I had riggotoni for main course and loved it.

They allow for sides to be sold exactly as you want it, in our order mashed potato and grilled or sauted mushrooms ???? very nice. They are unfortunately rather terse and semi inattentive to a simple order re not really talkative just.

The architecture is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere is so inviting and romantic. We spent a handful of minutes just pointing out the architectural things we liked. Brea and Kayla were fantastic, friendly waitresses and really made our experience better. The drinks were superb and the food (miso ramen with pork belly and prawn Alfredo) was delicious. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Victoria!

We've had far far better, the Asian salad was definitely not up to expectations - a smallish bowl, served with approx 4 + oz of grilled chicken breast, on top of mostly coleslaw greens, celery and edamame beans-this was pricey for $17.75. My husband had the fish tacos, he didn't finish it - unfortunately the fish was not fresh and this was pricey at $15.50. Not going back.

This is the place to go for a great meal. The service at this establishment is impeccable. They are very attentive to your every need, from the servers to the management. I have been here for lunch and dinner and have always had a wonderful experience. Thanks Moxie's!!!!

The service was fast, the servers were attentive and available if we needed them. Lots of people working which is great to see. My partner had a steak which they enjoyed. I had a cheeseburger and was very surprised to see this thin, uniform (likely previously frozen) patty. It didn't give the texture, or appeal of a freshly made patty, and was rather small for the high price point. The components tasted good and I enjoyed the charred flavour otherwise.

Exactly what you expect from a chain moxies restaurant. Delicious food and good service. We went on a weekend night so the food took a little longer to come, but that’s to be expected. A nice plus was that we ordered our two dishes to share and they pre cut the burger for us, making it easier to split. Prices are a tad on the expensive side but you can figure that out by looking at the menu on their website. Nice place to grab a reliable bite!

I enjoyed Moxi's in other cities but this one has a different feel to it. Ideal for outgoing people, couples meeting friends, and probably first dates or for singles. Lacking privacy and patio wasn't up to par. Good food selection.

We had our work Christmas party here, the food was so good, and the service was amazing as well. I was very impressed with the details of the plate presentation. The server, she was so helpful. It was a very busy place that night and she took the time to listen to each of our requests. I really appreciate that as its not always easy when you have special dietary needs.

Just went for dinner with my girlfriend here tonight. We had a bad experience last time we were at this location and management gave us a $50 dollar gift card. In addition, we had RJ, a super attentive server who was quick to address any and all concerns that we had. At the end of the meal, RJ gave us a free dessert as well. Well done Moxies! Thank you RJ. Thank you Moxies Management, for quickly and efficiently solving this matter. We will most definitely be returning :)

I have been to the Moxies on Yates several times and have received nothing but great service. Except last night. Last night my boyfriend and I went out for a date night and arrived close to closing. We asked the hostess if it would be okay for us to stay, and she said it would be fine we would just have to "hurry up". We agreed, and went on to sit down at our table. The hostess did not greet us, or ask how our night was and was quite snappy. She told us it was last call so if we want food or drinks we have to order them now. We agreed. She stood there and said "Okay... so what are you getting?". Both of us have been to Moxies so we ordered something we knew we would like, but thought it was quite rude to rush us to that extreme. Even two minutes to decide our order would have been nice. After that encounter, we had a very kind waitress serve us the rest of our meal. I thought that considering there was another table across from us and we ended up leaving before them, it was quite rude of the hostess to rush us to that extreme. It really was frustrating because we had never had a bad experience at this Moxies, or any other one. As a service worker myself, I know it can be frustrating to have someone come in right before closing but she could have been a little more polite.

I've always had a positive experience in terms of customer service when I've visited! I found the blackened chicken too salty for my tastes but everything else I had including beverage was delicious. They've also recently gone though a renovation in terms of the tables and it's really quite nice!

September 2/21 visit: happy hour Red Sangria $6 and Dry Ribs $10; ribs order quite large, took half home. The Prawn Tagliatelle ($23.75) comes with a slice of garlic toast. The nicely presented entree was delicious, one of the best pasta dishes I've had. Especially like the capers in the sauce, and on the garlic toast it's like the best bruschetta ever. Service was quick, the atmosphere lively (bit on the noisy side) and busy. They are training new hosts and servers; servers Tony and Heather were great. Busy place, fine food, good service! January 15, 2021 visit: Good experience, nice atmosphere but little noisy. Busy on a Saturday evening. Sirloin steak was done just right, lots of veggies - almost too much! The food was nicely seasoned and nicely presented. Only issue - the steak knife was not very sharp. Staff were professional, not overly friendly but made me feel welcome. Reservations recommended for preferred seating of groups of three or more. Prices are comparable to similar dining options, e.g., Earl's, Cactus Club, Joey. Staff seem nicer, though.

Cool place in downtown Victoria. I came here during my visit to BC and the food was spectacular. The staff was very helpful and nice as well. Definitely recommend!
