You gotta love the Marquee. They've been around forever and always put on great shows. I found the beer a little pricey but I haven't been out for awhile so maybe that's the going rate. Such a good venue to get close to the stage or hang back from the crowd.

Dim Passage

This is the biggest and best venue I've ever seen in Halifax, so far. Future Winter was hosted here, and it was marvelous. Friendly security and staff, good beer on tap, and they host plenty of amazing shows. The fact that the Seahorse is attached is a bonus, since you can easily change setting as long as you have a stamp. It's easy to get inside and the lines aren't usually long, but plan to go earlier than 10:30 if you don't want to wait! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes beer, socializing, dancing, or partying in general.

AMAZING VENUE. This place is the kicks when it comes to seeing a group perform live and in style. They have a quick short menu and also are killer bartenders to grab you whatever drink you like. I saw Dancing Queen (Halifaxs ABBA cover band) It was incredible and the crowd was also amazing.

Nice venue to watch shows! Good sound. Parking is easy to get in and out of the area. My only complaint is that not only do they have a few pillars/posts in front of the stage, they have them dressed up with plants and curtains that add bulk to the posts and obstruct the view of the stage even more.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of concerts or being jammed into crowds at one. However, the Marquee's layout allows you to easily stay on the outside with a good view, or jam into the standing room in front of the stage. If you show up early enough, you can even grab some seating on the periphery.

My fave place in the city for live music. Best EDM shows around (keep your eyes out for Home Bass promoted shows here and downstairs at the smaller Seahorse Tavern). A little offbeat, unpretentious character environment. Hate the plastic shot glasses and there is a lip on the floor as you enter the dance floor - I've tripped more than once. Gets jammed up by the stage but always lots of space on a second half level. Snobs will not be happy here. I really enjoy it.
