REVIEWS OF The Lower Deck IN Nova Scotia

Brandon Nunn

We have been enjoying the Lower Deck quite often since it opened, We find the food consistently of good quality with reasonable pricing. We also think the loyalty program director does a very good job. The follow- up is well done and appreciated. Last winter was long and bitter here and the Lower Deck is a pretty warm and welcoming oasis.

Craig Corbeels

Great place to grab a beer and some late night bites. They have live music that is fantastic. It can get really busy on Friday and Saturday but the music and service is great for great night out. I love going on Thursdays.

John Barry

The food was mediocre and the service was atrocious. 10 servers on the patio, and they were all chit chatting away and ignoring customers. Water from their ice machine leaks all over the deck. I managed to get the attention of a server to ask for a napkin to dry my purse that was sitting on the floor. He listened to my request and then promptly ignored me. They also do not make ceasars. Do not go here. No good!

Michelle Wijesinghe

Best fish and chips in the city!!! Friendly , quick service. Good soundtrack too!

Elizabeth Hopkins

It's an all time favourite and a must see in Halifax. No trip to the East Coast is complete without a visit here. Amazing bands always. And incredible atmosphere.

Leila Bautista

Had dinner here after a very long day. This restaurant was the closest thing to our hotel. Service is kinda slow but we were in no particular rush so it didn't bother us. There are two restaurants located in the same building, one on the top floor and one on the main floor. Adam and I initially entered because the menu offered mac and cheese but only the above restaurant offered it and since we had already gotten drinks we didn't want to make it a hassle so we stayed at the lower deck. I was a bit bummed though. Ordered the fish and chips and enjoyed it a lot! It wasn't greasy at all, it was actually quite fluffy and crispy. the fish was good. The fries were bland so would't recommend them. I also got some mash potatoes and gravy to share with Adam and they were pretty good, they had potato skin in them. Adam ordered the burger and really enjoyed it too. Not at all a bad meal or bad location but I wouldn't say a must-eat.

Michelle S

I would rate it a 5 as a bar and a 1 as a grill. One of the best night spots with a good mixed crowd and live music a lot of the time. The food is boring, bland, and poorly cooked, not bad, but feels like a chain more than a local landmark.

Elaine Lumsden

The veggie burger on the menu is reasonably priced and made in house without the simulated soy patty. Great for someone like me who wants to enjoy burger night too. I get it every time I go and can dress it different ways if I want.

Leanne Klimek

A pleasant cruise on the ferry from Dartmouth to Halifax. At the Lower Deck we were greeted warmly by Stephanie. Although there was a private function upstairs, she took us through and up to the next level and a table overlooking the harbour. The service Stephanie provided and the food was excellent. Excellent value for the $'s! Thanks We'll definitely be back!

Emily Marecek

The food was great the service was awesome. The music was great too. So nice to hear live music again.

Carlee McTavish

Stopped in here for a late lunch while walking the Boardwalk in the summer. It didn't seem overly busy, but the service was terrible. Took us many attempts to get our servers attention on multiple occasions during our visit. The table beside us commented on that too. However - once food arrived, we all enjoyed the quality and quantity of our entrees - nachos were great, and my father in law said the beef stew was one of the best he's had. Would eat here again, but would hope for better service.

deby loiseau

Great friends and amazing memories were made here!

Stephen Orr

The food was all fantastically delicious. I'd recommend The New Crew above all of them, but they're all great choices. Water service was rapid, refills were frequent, and the food arrived very quickly. Better than all of that was our server, Noah. He is the best server I've ever had. No rehearsed lines, very casual and straightforward, with great charisma and service. He felt very natural and easy to talk to. Come to The Lower Deck, and order The New Crew from Noah!

Sam White

A wonderful place to go. The staff treat us like we're old friends. The service, food and entertainment are the best. I highly recommend the nachos (caramelized onions) and pepperoni.

Mandi Lavers

I guess it was an off night but the serving staff was extremely relaxed and all but one guy seemed to be elsewhere.

Hector Boudreau

Great place for live music in Halifax. They have a regular band that is excellent. Lots of table seating all facing the stage. There is a small dancing area and it is strictly enforced that no one dances outside of the area. Drinks are pretty expensive for Halifax and they don't have any craft beer.

Gordon Hamlin

Good drinks and service. Outdoor seating on the boardwalk was perfect.

Natalie Cantle

We had to pay $9 cover charge even though we sat upstairs and the band stopped playing 10 minutes later. The waitress ignored us. We got one round of drinks then she disappeared. We had to ask another worker to get her to come back and then she was rude and short with us. Not the kind of service we have had on previous visits. We brought family from out of town and were ready to celebrate. Hard to do when the waitress ignores you.

Ron Charity

Great atmosphere. The nachos, fish cakes and potato skins where delicious. Waitress was very polite and keen to make our dinning experience great.

Natalia Albuquerque

Amazing food. The staff are always fun and fantastic. I love coming in and listening to the live bands they have. All in all a fantastic place to hang out! :)

JL D

Great place to stop in for a bite or to enjoy live music. Staff is always friendly, food is good. Well worth thee visit

Fred Wigginton

The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, The staff was super nice. The food was really good and portions were big, great value for your money. We did wait over 20 minutes before even seeing a waitress and there isn't a big menu selection but definitely a good spot to grab a bite to eat!

MARY IOAKIM

Service

Bailey McGregor

Fun atmosphere. Had live music the night we were there and band (wrecked house) was very good. Limited wine selection. Right on the waterfront which was the reason given for the mouse under our table! I guess you have to take the good with the bad!

Ken Faubel

I had a friend who used to work here recommend this place for my visit here in Halifax and I came during a weekend afternoon. Obviously it was quiet but the service was great and the very good conversation with the bartender, very personable. My boyfriend and I ordered a couple of beers and some fish cakes which were tasty but I do have to say I wished it had just a little more texture to it. Overall it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience for us. We will have to come back again next time we're in the city.

Nicole B

I never tend to leave reviews but I truly had the best service I’ve had in awhile. Ceilidh was our server and she was incredibly personable and prompt with service. I paid before receiving my food but wish it was after because I truly would have left a larger tip!

Gettin Tactical

The food was really good and we enjoyed the live music and the waitress who was serving our food was nice but the guy serving the drinks outside was extraordinarily rude to the point that even another staff member told us he was mad. We left after he ignored our table for over 45 minutes.

kyosukhe kanuo

The Lower Deck was very next to Marriott Hotel where we stayed and the food was good however their California Salad was amazing!

Ruth Harvey

Went here on Alexander O'Kieth's Birthday and it was crazy busy. But the staff seemed to be keeping up with crowd. Good music and great location. Good for both the young and old. Loud and a great party atmosphere.

TS F20

Had our team Christmas event here. Great venue. Food was good and staff were friendly.

Elizabeth D'Arcy

What you would expect from a bar. $8 cover to hear a live band but they didn’t start til much later. However they were worth the wait. The crowd was good and the staff never left us with an empty beer glass for long

Jenna McGrath

Highly recommend as a wedding venue! Brad, Larissa and the entire team were outstanding. From initial conversations to the execution on the night of- they went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The service, the food and the flexibility were all amazing. Cannot say enough about this place and the team. Thank you!

Joel Kreutzkamp

So very happy to see a Lower Deck in Clayton Park. Haven't been to the Lower Deck in years so I was hopeful the quality was unchanged. I was not dissapointed. The fish and chips are to die for. Fish is cooked perfectly - flakes apart nicely and no part overcooked. Son had hamburger and ate every bit. Love the renovations too. Nice to have a unique place to eat when the area is full of franchise restaurants.

Steven Forest

Every single time I go here it is the greatest night. The food the drinks the people the music the laughter. It is all amazing. Please recommend everyone to go here. It is literally for all ages and everyone is included. Dance upstairs or down, it doesn't matter. Everyone is here to have a good time. Fantastic establishment, cannot wait to go back. Just fantastic, I cannot stress that enough. If you're looking for a time, this is the place to go. Yeaaaaaahhhhhhhhh buddy!

Krista Whitehouse

Cool location but don't even bother. Food and beer choice are both "meh".

Soleil Chahine

Bad table service do not clear empty glasses very abrupt with cover charge after you spent many $ on supper Not the maritime service

Anne Evans

Our waitress was super nice, went above and beyond. We had the buffalo shrimp, and fish and chips. I must say they were the best shrimp I've ever had. You must try them. The haddock was also very delicious. I recomend you try it

Don Reid

Nice outdoor patio, friendly staff. I had a very good breaded haddock with just the right amount of spice. A bit of a wait getting service if its a busy afternoon, but otherwise a positive experience.

Luc Tremblay

Awsome patio! They were short on staff, but they made it work with no issue. Location was great, service was great and the food was great!

Mark Landry

Having enjoyed the Lower Deck on the waterfront, I was delighted when it opened a second restaurant in Clayton Park. It is my place of choice now. The staff are all so nice and upbeat. The steak sandwich is my favourite on the menu - it is so, so good. The weekend brunch is great - lots to choose from. And the chicken wings! I always recommend eating there.

John F

All the food was good, kid friendly, atmosphere for eating dinner on the patio was so-so.

Janessa Irene

Great staff, beautiful venue. Can get very busy during peak times such as Friday and Saturday nights. Always has live music on the weekends and is a great place to go and socialize. Get there early if you want to get inside in a timely manner. Stay away if large crowds are not your thing!

Amanda Inberg

I think the downtown location is the best place to go if you want to end your night by drinking, dancing, and having a good time. The Clayton Park location is excellent for stopping in at any time of the day, both with friends or family. The servers are very friendly and there always seems to be plenty of them on hand. The food and drink menus are both excellent - I highly recommend the Montreal Monster - and the live entertainment is the best of the best Halifax has to offer.

Tom Turner

I love the atmosphere, the people and the entertainment, who knew Atlantic Canada had so much awesome talent. We have tried many of the menu items and nothing has disappointed... My fav... The spinach salad... And of course second is the deep fried pepperoni. Glen on the other hand loves the fish and chips. The staff are very professional yet always have fun with the patrons. They make you feel welcome and greet you like a friend. Which is just how Maritimers are... And we likes it...

Skylar Sullivan

???? Awesome live music ???? Very long line to get in

Ans van den Broek

Great food at a great price! Fresh seafood too! Couldn't help myself but get a desert and I'm glad I did!

Justine Soucy

The Lower Deck has really delicious food, a wide selection of drinks on tap, and friendly servers. A huge draw is the selection of great live music they have on most nights and the location, being right on the waterfront.

Angela Nelson

This is a must-stop location when in Halifax. This is a corner pub serving hearty food and drinks during the day, which slowly turns into a local tavern bar where local sailors and scholars have been coming to drink and sing for hundreds of years. Irish stew is fantastic, Keith's is fresh and is the IPA beer to order when here. Ask about the historical naval artifacts on the wall and if you get a knowledgeable server you'll learn a lot of local lore.

Chris Litton

With all the great micro brews in town I am not sure why they serve big corporate brews (Keith’s is owned by Anheuser–Busch) Atmosphere is good but I would much rather hang out at the garrison brewery.

Justin Gratto

We visited here during a trip to Halifax upon recommendation by several locals. It's a really fun pub with awesome fish and chips. A cover band was playing there and they were so good we ended up staying longer than we planned to. Would totally recommend!

Melissa Wells

Iconic bar in Halifax! Saw Signal Hill play which was a bonus. Staff were easy going and come around with beer so you don't have to get up to go to the bar

Ian MacDonald

Came because we were told to come. Had a pint, okay, just another beer. Ordered some grub, mussels and Taco's, ya pretty good. Then the band came on, Wednesday at 9:30. Music was ace. Could still talk and could sing along. That is the essence of a pub. Beer, food, music and people

Susan White

Everything was excellent. Service was friendly and well timed, and the food was delicious. Very clean and felt safe as well.

Connie Boudreau

My fiance have been spending more time at The Lower Deck ever since we've decided to have our wedding reception at the Tap Room upstairs. We have been so impressed by the wonderful service and warm, Halifax atmosphere - that's not something you can fake. The pub-style food is well-priced, served in big portions and always delicious.

Trevor Poirier

Decent pub experience. Lovely friendly staff. Good location. Lobster dip appetizer was spicy and tasty. Unfortunately both of the main courses we had - Mac&Cheese (with lobster added) and a Haddock plate - were lacklustre and forgettable.

Michele McGroty

Food was great and the waitress was amazing. She was the only server and it was quite busy, she managed to keep everyone taken care of.

Siddharth Jain

Great live music on Saturday night when we were there. Go early if you want to sit inside to listen to the 5pm show. Otherwise, you'll be sitting on the patio. Food and service is decent as well.

John McGowan

One of the best veggie burgers in town, very friendly about substitutions (make sure to try the curry mayo on the veggie burger!) and free refills, plus a rewards program that gives us a free delicious meal every other month. Vast improvement over Winston's, the previous restaurant in this space, in my opinion, and so glad we got a second Lower Deck in Halifax, especially one closer to where I live.

Brandon Pope

Lively place, always fun atmosphere, the staff are all gems. Currently closed for the season. But I’ll be for sure headed back when it opens ????

Daniel Gervais

Every neighbourhood needs a good pub eatery and that is what we have at the Lower Deck Lacewood. We have been several times and each time is good. It is comfortable and the staff is great. You can go when it is quiet or when they have music and events. Be sure to visit and when you do join the Rewards Program - it is one of the best.

Matt Olmstead

It was fantastic, exactly what we we were looking for, a place to show my friends the east coast pub life. So good we wen back for seconds. Great atmosphere, live music and good East Coast Service!

Catherine Wende

Just had an amazing time with my friends at The Lower Deck. It's my favorite patio in Halifax. I forgot to get the name of our server (she usually works upstairs)....friendly, charming and quite hilarious, as well as attentive. The four of us couldn't have had a better time!! Plus, I hot pics of a friend milking the cow lol! : )

Leah D

Awesome food best poutine I have loved going there for years and ill love going there for years to come our service was absolutely awesome and he was pretty funny too thank you so much its been a long time since I have laughed like that a million thumbs up

Akbar Khan

The Lower Deck in Clayton park is truly a great place to go. The food is amazing and the entertainment is always enjoyable. A group of us have been going there regularly and always enjoy ourselves. They give great perks as well, the points card and the coupons on your birthday for a free meal. My work had our Christmas party there last year and it was such a big hit, we plan on going back this year. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. Happy Customer

Grant Kummen

I've been to Halifax 3 times, and I've been to the lower deck 5 times. It's just a must-do when you visit the city. Good staff, good music, good food, and tons of history. Just a fantastic spot, one of my favourite places in all of Canada.

Anne Flemming

Fun atmosphere. The only reason it didn't score higher was that we were with a group of people and one girl had too much to drink. Instead of informing any one of the 30 people that were with her, they kicked her out, alone, in downtown Halifax. No view for safety at all, they just knew she had enough and wanted her out. I wish they had offered to call her a cab or anything other than how they handled the situation.

Theresa Rankin

I don't get to the Lower/Middle Deck as often as I would like but whenever I do go, it is so relaxing and enjoyable for me... I like the atmosphere and the fact that it is relatively "quiet" while you are dining. There's no need to scream so your partner can hear you. The staff are truly amazing in making our dining experience a fabulous one every time we go..

Tammy Marriott

My favourite spot in Halifax! Staff are always cheery and attentive. The food is excellent! I visit the Lower Deck II in Clayton Park more than the downtown location because it is so convenient....close to home, close to work. Great place to meet friends after a long work week. Music is always great. Highly recommend!

Carrie Guo

It was my first time here, I really enjoyed it. The price of food was decent and tasty, but I wish their fries could be better. Their fish and salad were good! Love the atmosphere and the live music!!! People were really enjoyed the moment and that’s my favorite part of this bar. The only thing I was concerned was the price of beer. Beer was great, but they didn’t have menu, and price was mysterious lol after I got the bill and almost passed out lol otherwise I really enjoyed it, the artist (musician) was so gooood! Will go back again for the live music for sure!!

kelsey Loveret

Standard pub food, always reliable. There's often live music in the evening to enjoy. The chocolate crème brûlée was not crème brûlée.

Rodger Middleton

I have to give this business a one star review. Please read my reasoning below. It was a gorgeous sunny day on a Sunday, the historic properties boardwalk was full of people, it was 1:15 pm in the early afternoon. My wife and son (10 months), my neighbor and his daughter (9 months) were walking the downtown enjoying the day. Passing by the lower deck I suggested we stop for one drink before going home. Lower deck had about 3 or 4 customers at that time. We all sit on the patio and my neighbor says he will have a beer and appetizer. I wanted one beer and nothing to eat. My wife wanted water, she does not drink. The waiter said I had to eat and would not serve me. We asked for the manager. The manager came and restated the same statement. He pointed out the 9 and 10 month old babies. Said I must eat. Replied ok, my wife is driving and she ordered water. Apparently she needed to eat too. We left the patio. I understand now why the patio was vacant during a very busy day on the boardwalk. I feel discriminated and my neighbor feels the same way. It could also be that the waiter was pushing food for more money. I will never go to this establishment again being military my friends will no longer go as well.

O. Duke

Our server was great. He was very helpful with answering questions and had a great personality. The nachos were good but would like to have a bit more cheese on them. The service was quick.

Dwayne Jones

My husband and I came here for supper on St. Patrick's Day. The live band was really good, even though they didn't play Irish music. We both had the fish and chips, service was very quick and the food was very tasty. I really enjoyed the Lunenburg beer. It isn't my first time here and I will definitely be back. Thanks for the great time.

Colin Heighton

Nice bar, has some ambience. food is good, quick service and beer is cold.

Erica Ferguson

Love the lower deck. Has some great live music, and it's always a good time. They also have the best nachos in town. Whatever spice they use in them, is to die for ????

Janine Gallant

Lower deck in Clayton Park... The stigma and reputation of that location has never been ideal. So I was not expecting much when I went in for dinner after work. After about 3 steps in, I was blown away at what they did with the place, and how they improved and raised the bar. If felt like any other restaurant I could have had dinner at, and when I ordered dinner the food was great. "Best Onion rings in Town" The overall experience was great. I will find myself eating there more often for a casual dinning experience after work and with friends!

Jessica Lafrance-Hwang

Great location, super friendly staff, food a tad lacklustre. Music, per usual, superlative.

Terry Boulanger

Ate here with a friend and enjoyed the casual atmosphere and friendly staff. The fish cakes are amazing-a must try!! Will definitely dine here again!

Lorena LeBlanc

The food is great! I had the bacon burger and it was delicious. All of their burgers are tasty. The only reason I'm rating this with 3 stars is because I'm tired of getting beer glasses with lipstick marks from previous patrons. Is it that hard to pre-wash a glass/ensure the dishwasher is hot enough to blast through lipstick?

David Juras

Deep fried pepperoni. Friendly welcoming staff. Paul. Mother f'in Lamb. What more do you need to know?

High Caliber (HC)

Very disappointed in not only the customer service from the “acting manager “ who said pretty much said to bad … the fact we ordered 8 shots and each shot glass was covered in mold abd brush aside like this was old is extremely disappointing as we Love this spot we were on a bachelorette and left due to the lack of customer service as this location!

Denny Johnson

Food is always top notch, breakfast no exception. Had a full breakfast on this occasion. Generous portions, good variety and customer service is prompt, pleasant and without issue. Eggs were done to perfection, meat well -cooked with a minimal amount of grease. Very flavorful. Strongly recommend as it very much well prepared home style fare. For more ostentatious fare, I highly recommend their burger menus, particularly the pork burger which simply must be tried as it is a savory, tasty feast for the senses. Good spot, low key atmosphere. - unquestionably recommend.

Kim Hodgson

Paid $9 to see Signal Hill perform but couldn't get in because they were at capacity, not to sit out side on the patio in the cold. We had company from out of town, Quebec , Alberta and California, and planned this outing for a few weeks.Last year we had a blast. We arrived at 8pm and the band didn't start to play until 9:30 so we didn't get there late and expect to get in at the last minute. We should have been told that there was no room in the Lower Deck only the Middle or the Upper ones. A very disappointing evening.

Radhakrishnan Kg

The best live music in the country... new lead guitarist is AMAZING !....

Shannon Mazerall

We were in last Sunday night for a date night (does not happen too often with a 4 year old at home) It was busy, but the door staff let us in without cover so we could go enjoy Nachos at the beer market. Thank you ever so much.

Peter Miller

My family tried to eat here on Friday, October 8, around 12:30 pm. It was 5 adults (all double vaccinated) and one infant. We were all hungry but the infant was sleeping so we were looking for somewhere with a booth so we could eat and the infant could continue sleeping. We reached the front door and saw the proof of vaccine notice and a sign that said we should wait to be seated. So, we all pulled out our vaccine receipts and IDs and waited. After a few minutes, no one came out, so my brother walked a few steps inside the door (mask on, vaccine passport and ID in hand) just to ask someone if there were booths available. He was quickly rushed out the door by a server/greeter with a miserable look on his face and a terrible attitude and asked if we all had our vaccine passports and IDs. We all happily responded yes and quickly held up our passports/IDs, however, we weren't even trying to enter at that point because we still needed to know if there was a booth. Every single time we tried to ask the guy if they had booths, he interrupted us with “no, no, no, you need to show me your vaccine cards FIRST.” We all responded again and again that we have them (literally holding them in our hands), but we were JUST wondering about the booth. After he interrupted us about 6 times, we just left and went to Pickford and Black (10/10 btw, friendly and professional staff and INCREDIBLE food!!). I'm not sure what this guy's problem was. We're all pro-vaccine and completely agree with having to show it before entering a restaurant. Advice to the restaurant: actually listen to your customers before harassing them about a passport they would be HAPPY to show you. We were just trying to ask a question (outside of the restaurant, masks on, vaccine passports and ID in hand). Your server didn't need to be rude to us, we were actually excited to eat there. At the very least, he could have smiled and heard what we had to say. I understand that tensions are running high with the new passport laws, but we were being nice to him and following all the rules. He seriously needs to chill out and remember that he works in customer service. After all, as the customers, we were treating him with more respect than he treated us.

Niesje Bassie

I had the grilled chicken pesto and it was delicious, large portions. And a Keith's on tap! :) (or 2). We had girls' afternoon out for drinks and planned it to enjoy Paul Lamb's Matinee, which is always awesome. My favorite place to go to relax and enjoy great entertainment.

Shawna Gammon

Came here late night for some drinks. The building is really cool and historic. It was really crowded downstairs, but we went to the upstairs bar and found seats and had a good amount of space. There's also an outdoor area if you're so inclined. They had live music playing and a good crowd. That, paired with good music playing upstairs and good drinks made for a fun night. I'd come back here if I were in the area - in my opinion, the little details in this historic building are what makes it really special.

DEBBIE IRL

This place never ceases to amaze with amazing staff, food and entertainment it is a one stop venue for get together with friends, business get together, special event stag, stagette and birthday parties. You won’t be disappointed with the staff that go out of their way to accommodate you and friendly service. All while maintaining social distancing and protecting themselves and others. Five stars hands down

CC Smith

We had rented the top area (The Tap Room) for our wedding reception and it was wonderful! The space is beautiful. Allison was such a great help, and she is such a wonderful person, and very knowledgable. The food was so great, and all the staff was very kind.

Sandy LeBlanc

Waitresses was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Did not feel rushed during our lunch or after while we were having tea. We will be back soon.

DAVID GEMMELL

As always, the food was great! I had the Beer Market Nachos and the Wild Mushroom Risotto Cakes. Both are MUST HAVES!!! The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere fun. I could hear the music from the pub downstairs but not from the courtyard. Maybe they could have that play inside when the pub band is on a break, it would help keep up the fun atmosphere. But that is such a minor detail that really wouldn't affect your visit. I recommend The Deck to all my friends and family and strangers looking for a fun place to eat and enjoy some great music.

Ed Sullivan

Always the best atmosphere here! Love music, great appetizers and main dishes... and lots to choose from for drinks! The summer patio parties are a blast and the live music matinees are great all year round.

Bill Dawson

Amazing Atlantic Celtic Food and Music Experience!!

Nick De Silva

Good fish and chips ???? Paul Lamb was singing that night and he was lovely! ????

This Review is for the Lower Deck Clayton Park. We have visited the LDCP twice now and have been impressed with the quality and prices of their meals. The food has always been consistently very good. The staff is amazing, they make you feel right at home and the service is fantastic. The Royalty Rewards program is pretty good also.

Barbara Patterson-Smith

We used to LOVE the Lower Deck. Have gone for years. This time the experience was less that fun. We just wanted to sit on the patio around 3pm for a drink and they wanted to sit us in a little corner that had zero view claiming that they needed the other areas for larger parties. We informed the hostess that there were no larger parties lining up and we only intended to stay for one drink. She didn't seem to care. In fact, she could care less that she had ANY customers. We got up and left after a few minutes and as we walked away one of the waiters sarcastically said "See ya!". I never responded. I find the staff rude and obnoxious and would not recommend this place ever again. There are too many good choices in downtown Halifax to put up with this kind of service.

Cory Pye

Excellent food and view of the waterfront. My only issue was that the bar in the restaurant was quite limited. They had a bigger bar upstairs but they wouldn't get drinks from up there while eating on the patio.

Wes Price

We had family friends visiting from Florida on a Tuesday night. In order to show them a taste of the maritimes we took them to The Lower Deck for drinks and music. We were fortunate to enjoy Shaydid but the band lineup listed for any day during the month would have been great. Although our guests were in their 60's they had a blast. I would recommend visiting either The Lower Deck Waterfront or the Lower Deck Clayton Park if you have guests visiting from away. We had a blast!

Melinda McNeil

Recently my wife and I had lunch at the Lower Deck . I had the stew and she had soup and sandwich. All were extremely tasty. Although my wife had a problem with the temperature of her meal when it arrived, it was quickly remedied. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. We were back again last night and had the yummy and generous fish and chips. One of the best in Halifax

Yvonne Wall King

I was the first customer to ever eat at The Lower Deck CLayton Park. Staff was very friendly and food was delicious. Very nice atmosphere. My girlfriend and I had our 1 year anniversary on New Year's Eve and celebrated with many others at the Deck. Very good musical talents as well. Also, glad to see bands from original Lower deck making there way here. Keep it up guys!

Ashlan Potts

My friends and I have been going to the Lower Deck, Clayton Park for lunch each Friday for the past 4 or 5 years. We have always received excellent service, Julia has been our server for 99% of our visits. The food is very good and the atmosphere suits us to a T. I would highly recommend the Lower Deck for your next place to eat and drink out. Gordon

Darlene Pietrak

Love the Clayton Park Lower Deck. I often come here to hang out with friends, eat nachos and drink beer. The live music is also good. Will definitely keep coming back

Cassandra Baccardax

Fish and chips weren't bad, staff is friendly and have good selection of beer. They also have fairly good entertainment as well!

darren mcphee

The atmosphere is where it's at and live music exceptionalle.

Wiener Mcgee

We always enjoy the Lower Deck, especially when Paul & Cory are playing . We love Maritime music so make it a point to get there when they are doing a matinee. Servers are very efficient and friendly; seldom have to wait for service. For us, the music is the thing we go for and the good food is an extra bonus.

Kbelo Martins

The Lower Deck Clayton Park is a postive experience everytime. We have family functions there,(birthday gatherings) and just the whole family for supper to gather and chat, we try to do this at least once a month with us siblings. Great food, awesome atmosphere, and even better people. Would highly reccomend.

Nice patio nice location, but was turned off when waiter who was serving us drinks ask to hold a credit card at the bar, I have never been asked to have my credit card put behind the bar at anytime anywhere, once we refused to give our card we noticed our service declined and it took along time for our food while people who sat after us were served before us. that's a bit suspicious. I would not recommend this place I don't trust the wait staff

Marshman Marshall

Decent fine dining experience. I had a steak dinner while my wife had lobster. Both meals were cooked to our specifications and quite tasty. The service was good but the time between the appetizer and meal was a little long ( hour plus). Still, we will go back based on the service and food quality we experienced.

Adam Deutsch

Update!! Never had I ever had the experience that I had today visiting your lower water location for dinner with my son. I realize restaurants get busy and I am actually a frequent customer here with my family but I will not be saying that anymore, I also write food reviews and I can’t say this one will get a good one. My salad with the ribs was brown, no croutons and tasteless, slow service - People lurking around your seats waiting to take over your table, Rude waitresses when trying to leave Standing there asking to get out as the chain was on the deck outside Wow and this used to be my favourite place- super disappointed and realized that as this was my first place to run in the summer to, not anymore.

Our visit to the Clayton Park Lower Deck this week was great. The waiter was very efficient, friendly and made us feel like we were his only customers. The food was delicious, well prepared and it seemed like no time when it arrived at our table. We will certainly be returning!

Karine Bélanger

The Lower Deck is a staple in the Halifax Bar scene. I have visited on many of Sunday's. The prices are comparable to any other bar in Halifax, same goes for the food prices. Quality is standard for Halifax. Service is also on par with the rest of Halifax. The entertainment is always great, and the atmosphere is awesome. The patio outside always makes for a great night.

Barrett K

The live music was absolutely amazing. The way the bar is decorated is beautiful too. Very cool ambiance. The one star is for the extremely poor customer service at this establishment. Yesterday, my fiancée and I went to sit upstairs as Lower Deck was full. After we settled up, we got a text that seats were ready downstairs. The host (really nice woman) took us to 6 stools which looked like they were maybe a waiting area since there were no tables/ledges to keep a drink on/eat food from. We couldn’t hear what she had said before she left. A male server (about 5’7/5’8 in height) came up to us to take our drink orders - so I went to clarify if the stools were the seats. We are new to Halifax so hadn’t been to Lower Deck before. He immediately pointed to the stools and said “you’re in them, you can go upstairs instead.” I was shocked at how abrupt he was so I clarified that we hadn’t been here before and weren’t sure how seating worked here-hence the question. Then he told us it’s seat yourself once you’re in so when someone leaves a table, we can sit there. He was quite rude to me but we brushed it off. He did take our drink orders though. Then we saw 2 available seats at the bar and took them. I saw that same server talking to the other male servers behind the bar and it was clear he was talking about me. All night, my fiancée (who is a white man, may I add) got asked every time before his drink was over if he wanted a new one. He always had a full drink. Me on the other hand (a person of colour) did not ever get asked by any server once if I wanted a new drink. It was absolutely intentional. While the servers may not be outwardly racist, I felt that their racial bias was showing. It wasn’t a good feeling for me. I wasn’t rude to anyone. I had just asked a question. I think this was a one off since folks in Halifax seem very warm, helpful and kind. We went to another establishment afterwards where the service was exceptionally great. Yesterday was our first day in Halifax so we won’t let the poor service from one place cloud our opinion. I’ll avoid going back there at all costs.

Good fun, great music, and a little rowdy. The Lower Deck is like a cross between a bar and a below-deck party on a sailing ship. If you're visiting Halifax and want to get the feel of the place, it's music, and its sea-loving history combined, you must go!

Rosemarie H

Great food - pub style & healthier options. Indoor and outdoor seating. No change table in the washrooms but staff was very accommodating of babies and young children (& associated messes!). Great place to take a big group (although outdoor seating might be limited).

Mayette Ostonal

The food I ate was quite good, standard pub fair. The chicken burger I had was a big piece of beautifully cooked, juicy chicken breast which I like. The fries are delicious, wedge fries with seasoning. I really like the atmosphere of the Lower Deck in Clayton Park and the staff are always very friendly and efficient.

MyLinh Nguyen

A place in Halifax everyone should see..the historic buildings and the town with miles of boardwalk and patios its amazing.. the breweries were very friendly..my first time here and I loved it..will be coming back

Tomasz Malek

Great food, drinks, and atmosphere, enjoyed some live music on Friday night too! We'll be back!

Leena Roy Chowdhury

My wife and I have always loved the waterfront location and especially sitting outside in the summer. Now, with the Clayton Park location, it's twice as good! Great food - we particularly like the steak sandwich. The Keith's sauce is amazingly good! When we just want to munch we choose the chicken wings. We like the lunch menu as it is reasonably priced and there are a range of choices. While good food is always a priority, it's the staff that makes the difference and why we keep going back to The Lower Deck. Friendly, knowledgeable, and outgoing - they're great.

Pethrona Russell

We are regulars and consistently enjoy the food and service. Also take advantage of their great rewards program.

Poke Smitty

Last night we had dinner at the lower deck it’s 4 friends. Our meal was excellent. (Loved the ribs!) the beer as ice cold and the music was great. The best place to visit in Halifax! (In fact we came from Moncton, NB to do just that)

Joy Geizer

Lower deck Clayton Park has the best staff ever!. They are always fast and super friendly, while eating there Friday evening the band is playing and it's a great atmosphere. Lower deck Dpwn town location on Friday and Saturday nights is packed and Always great bands downstairs and I love the DJ upstairs because he always plays the best dance music. Either location is a clean, fast, friendly resturant so you can't go wrong visiting either.

Marie Crimp

Nice heritage cozy place to spend time with Alexander keith :)

Roderick Macdonald

Upon arrival the door (security) were not very welcoming, however when we went upstairs we were made to feel very special. The service was outstanding, with genuine advice on wine selection and the menu. The food was outstandingly good. Very reasonably priced too. Our Waiter provided outstanding service. To make our evening even better music was drifting upstairs from an excellent band with a great singer downstairs. The music was non stop, BG's, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Bob Dillon Billy Joel renditions and many others of our vintage. A fabulous experience. Thank you from two guys from Australia. But beware of Bell telephone.....no connection.

Roger Renaud

Hi, Went to The Lower Deck for my Birthday and had a good time. Staff is friendly, food is good, everything was great! Thanks to all! Hi again, Went back on the weekend and all was great! Nice and cool thanks to AC! Love the mac and cheese! Some say the liver is wonderful!

Matt Moriarty

I recently went to the Lower Deck with my co-workers to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good and the service was excellent. A great atmosphere, service and food was served up to all at a reasonable price. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks!

MJ Seager

the food was good and I hear when they have live music it's great. The service the night I went was something to be desired but I'm super impressed with how the company handled my upset. Will definitely be back on my next visit!

Jim Loveys

Sundays with Signal Hill is one of the best Halifax experiences you can have. Hard to find a table if you don't show up early enough. Drinks are relatively cheap.

Jaclyn Allen

The patio at the Lower Deck is wonderful on a sunny afternoon. Food is good and staff is excellent. Both friendly and hard working. Patio is closed for the winter, but my husband and I still enjoy the Beer Market on the second floor. Service and food are still really good and we really love the feel of the place. Certainly feel this is our "local".

Jim Tiff

Lower deck was awesome.. Had a fun time dancing and met a few weirdos too

Jessica-Lyn Butts

Went to enjoy a beer after work on a sunny afternoon. Draught was warm and flat, nachos didn't have enough cheese or toppings and fries were overly salty. Disappointing experience.

Marlene Cameron

I love the atmosphere at the Lower Deck. The staff are very friendly, the food is awesome, and the bands are always top notch. In the summer the patio on the waterfront is the best place to be!! Try it out you won't be disappointed!

Matthew Tyson

The burgers were outstanding! The customer service also was welcome despite us showing up a few minutes early for their opening ours. I would highly recommend anyone grabbing a pint and some grub.

Stephanie Murphy

Really great experience at Lower Deck Waterfront location. Waitress (Stephanie) was very pleasant and provided prompt and efficient service. When my water was empty she was there with another one. We had a groupon to use and enjoyed the nachos for our appetizer which were good. My husband had the planko crusted fish and chips which was delicious and very flavourful. It's one huge piece of fish and very filling. I enjoyed the Chicken tortellini which was also filling and delicious. The blueberry grunt and toffee cake are both great desserts. Overall we would return even without a groupon.

Jonathan Milne

Not impressed with the food. The customer service was even worse! Upon arriving we were quickly served drinks and immediately following our order was taken. Both our appetizers and food arrived timely. However, not one server smiled when they served us or never returned to offer us more drinks or check on our food or experience. More drinks would have been ordered and our food may have been better if we had been checked on as my fish didn’t come with any tartar sauce and there was no salt on the table. This could have been easily corrected. The opportunity to sell more to one customer was definitely missed. But we couldn’t even flag down a server. The one time we did see our server she was on the phone behind the bar. Furthermore my son accidentally spilled his pop and we had to use napkins to try and clean it up. No one offered to help us as we scrambled to clean it up. And as mentioned, we couldn’t find anyone to help us either. Even as we were served our food with a large pile of soggy napkins all over the table no one offered to help us clean it up. Our server returned and promptly provided our bill when she saw us packing our things to get ready to leave. Fish and chicken tenders were over cooked. Meat inside was ok temp and flavour but the batter on both were vary hard and seemed borderline burnt. Nachos were soggy. The only good part of the food were the French fries. Very disappointed in our overall experience.

Sherry Battiste

So, we arrived at 9ish. Found a seat at the bar. I really wanted to name the bar tender but I didn't get his name. Short dark hair, clean cut. We ordered food which was exceptional, and for the next 3hrs, the service, even though it was totally packed, was 10 star. Our drinks were never empty. We will definitely return and look for this bar tender!

Shelley Hippern

Beer and atmosphere were better than the food. Pretty limited menu.

Susan Ward

Lovely small bar with great live music. We really enjoyed the spinach dip and chocolate peanuts butter cheesecake. Beautiful little spot hidden along the pier with overhead lights creating a romantic walkway to their doorways. Had a lot of fun!

Shane MacDougall

Great pub! Great food! Great live music! A must go in Halifax!

frank morris

The waitress was great, the food tasted good, but I’m giving one star as I now feel sick after having eaten there. Disappointed and won’t be returning. Such a shame as I love the idea of the pub itself and the server was great.

Fabian Soler

We went to Lower Deck, Clayton Park for an unplanned supper and the bar was full. Two gentlemen kindly gave up their stools overlooking the stage, so we not only enjoyed our ale, nachos, and wings - but we were pleased to find that we were to be entertained by two very good musicians. The waitress was fun and friendly, even though she was very busy. The food was delicious....wings great, and lots of cheese and other goodies layered on our nachos. Yummmm! We went for an hour, and left three hours later!!

Alex C

Always had an amazing time until tonight when we were not informed that the wait to see the band was going to be over an hour and paid our cover to get in. Surprisingly enough, when we asked for a refund the bouncer told us that he didn’t remember seeing us since ‘he didn’t make eye contact while checking ids’. Very concerning to think what kind of security they have in place. When I mentioned that to the manager he wasn’t ready to listen what the door staff had told us about how he checks ids. Not sure what security measures they have in place to prevent underage drinking and have absolutely low standard of customer service.

Aldor Doiron

It was years since I was at the Lower Deck on a Friday night, on the Halifax waterfront. Hard to find a couple of seats for a drink and a meal. Fortunately, my friend and I asked a couple if we could share their table and we had a great time. The food was typical pub grub and tasty. There was a live band and a livelier crowd. A fun evening on a Friday night!

Sandra Niles

Good environment, with beautiful people. I loved the live music on Sundays, cthe band is amazing and made everyone sing along. I would definitely suggest more people to come by and have the experience.

Lindsay Noble

Got the Chipotle burger and it was delicious. Fries were really good too.

Tanya Dunn

I had never been to the Lower Deck in Clayton Park, and I can assure you I will never return. I bought one of their Groupon promotions to have an appetizer, 2 entrees, and dessert. Here's the play by play of our experience: We arrived and waited 20 minutes to get our order taken. We waited 30 minutes to get our appetizer. We then waited 20 minutes after our appetizer was finished to get our entree. We put in our dessert order and never received it. Guess what? I am not complaining about the wait, they were busy, it was trivia night, we had some entertainment with that while waiting, I get it. My problem was this: the waitress completely ignored us, had to flag her down for every drink refresh, every time we needed a napkin, never once apologized for the wait, or even explained to us why there was such a wait. She had no semblance of what a good client experience is or for that matter how human interactions work. After waiting more than 30 minutes for dessert and being there for 2.5 hours we got up to leave and she walked by and said "oh your dessert is ready now" I said no thanks we just want to go, she went and grabbed it anyways and said "here I will pack it up for you". It was the wrong dessert, this is pretty incredible considering they only have 2 desserts. You had a 50% chance of getting my dessert right by bringing me anything but she still got it wrong after asking.. I asked to speak to the manager but she seemed to not understand what client experience is all about either. I explained the situation and she apologized and gave excuses that the waitress was busy and the kitchen was busy. I simply said I never once complained to you about the wait time, I told you the waitress gave us horrible service and pointed out exactly what that looked like, she again apologized that they were so busy. She simply didn't get it. I can give a restaurant a second chance if the wait time is long, if there is a mistake with my food, even if they dumped a plate of spaghetti on me, but I can't forgive ridiculous customer service. Owners should take note and perhaps look into some consistency training or something. It's too bad, the food was great, the atmosphere was nice, and the trivia was fun, but I won't be back.

Eric

Went to the Clayton Park "Lower Deck". I had been provided with a gift certificate for my Birthday. Staff was very friendly as usual and there was live music as we walked in. The food was awesome. the entree we chose to start was excellent. We ordered the steak Diana and this was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Cooked as I asked it and so tender and tasty. I substituted the mashed potatoes for very tasty fries and there was a healthy portion of fresh veggies that came with the plate. This steak was as good if not better than what you would expect at one of the classiest restaurants in Halifax or anywhere for that fact. This was the third time we have ordered a steak from the daily special menu and we have yet to be disappointed. We will be returning as soon as we have another craving for steak went back recently to try the burgers and were not disappointed. so far everything we have tried was great and the atmosphere and service were as good as usual

ursula kellum

They should give some training to their garden gnome at the front door on how to behave with customers. They are not bright enough to manage any situations. We are convinced that the owners are not aware of their behavior

Brenda Kenty

They have changed the name of this Halifax institution- now called the Pub. Most folks will continue to call it the Lower Deck I imagine. Love bands every night, but lacks a dance floor unless you go upstairs. More serious looking bouncers than perhaps necessary but maybe I was there on a "quiet" night. Not really sure why this place is so popular...

Elspeth Kinney

Recently,I had lunch at the Lower Deck, Clayton Park and enjoyed the experience. The staff/servers were very pleasant and helpful. The food menu for lunch was tasty and reasonably priced. I missed not having regular fries with my meal but the wedges were very good. It would be nice to have a choice. I found the interior to be dark, and felt it would be nice if it were brighter especially for lunch time. Overall I enjoyed my experience and appreciate the rewards program. I will return another time and recommend the Lower Deck to my friends and family.

Paul S

I arrived on the lands of Halifax, Nova Scotia on a spaceship disguised as a multimillion dollar yacht. I immediately smelled delicacies I had yet encountered on my explorations of the cosmos. Earth is known around many galactic circles as a planet of good food. To say The Lower Deck contributes to Earths reputable legend of good food would be an understatement. They may in fact be leaders of the good food pack. The staff were funny, friendly, and the food was served fast and fresh. My counterparts agreed that when we return to the Milky Way, we will return to the Lower Deck.

Gubby

I finally managed to get my friend to come to The Lower Deck (Lacewood) and try the best brunch in town: Eggs Benedict with the Citrus Salad. She was impressed! (Now she would like to become a member of the loyalty club, too, but we forgot to ask the server. Can she do that online?) I tell myself often to try something else on the menu, but I end up choosing the same, because I can't get enough of the Eggs Bennie and the salad! Our server was super friendly, which is par for the course, but always appreciated.

Rachelle Sweeting

The music is okay but too many remixes not the original version of the song so you don't get the real feel and vibe to dance. Finger foods and mixed drinks are good.

Venessa V

The food is alright, nothing special. decently priced. The service is a little chaotic (especially if seated outside) I would recommend it if you plan on going for drinks or a show and want good seats before the crowd gets there. Their loyalty program is pretty good though, I am constantly getting free food.

Dine in

Ashley M

We ate upstairs. The staff was amazing. They went above and beyond to serve us. The food was great too! The live music after dinner was fantastic too.

Andreas Tanzer

Good place to have a beer and snack but no choice of beer local i dont understand that we are in Halifaz

Walter Paige

Went there with 4 adults and my 3 month old baby and was immediately told we were not allowed to eat here because minors were not allowed in. A 3 month old! He can barely even hold his own head up let alone drink a beer. I'm from New Brunswick and have never heard of this for an establishment that serves food. Correct me if I'm wrong but I was extremely shocked by this. The server who sent us away was also not very polite about it either.

M&C LeLie

Awesome place, great location, good food, good selection of local beers, best cover band we've heard in a VERY long time!! If you are looking for pub grub and live music on the Halifax waterfront, this is your place!

Amy Thorne

We were at the Marriott next door for a work conference and our Halifax-based colleague made arrangements for our 40+ group to visit the Lower Deck on a Friday night. The staff were very accommodating in reserving capacity on a busy night when they would normally be full anyways. The place was jam packed. Awesome live music, incredible atmosphere, and solid beer selection. Food wasn’t spectacular but was average for pub fare.

Rose Richardson

Great live music. People are awesome. Tables we're sticky...but in a good way.

Mike Rowe

Ribs to die for! And bonus to get full rack for price of a half rack Saturday evening. Toss in "Signal Hill" for good measure, and great evening all around.

Burt Hatt

The servers, bar, and kitchen staff are great! Friendly and helpful! Food is very good, and at good value. Beer is always cold. This place is a Halifax institution, beautiful wooden bar, accents and decor. Great live music, if you spend any time in Halifax, you have to check out The Lower Deck!

Clara Asprey

I had fish tacos and real great fries..... great. My husband had fish and chips and there was none left..... both very good. Good prices and portion sizes. Would come again . We live on eastern shore of Nova Scotia so don’t come downtown every week but certainly will be back .... great location ... great staff too.????

Amanda Swinburne

Only smaller menu available. Ran out of bacon, nachos, and potato skins. Burger was small for the price. I suspect the "bottled" pop was watered down fountain pop as it tasted off. The food was good though and the service was excellent.

Yvette Carroll

Staff were fantastic! Kenny was our waiter all night and is a sweetheart! He was so attentive and accomadating! Perfect for this position!

M G

Nice place with good food. We had the veggie burger and the ground turkey burger which were both wonderful. Outdoor patio is beautiful right on the waterfront

Christopher Keirstead

Location is fantastic! We had the table in front of the big window overlooking the harbour. The service was A Plus!! Food was pretty good but not the star of the show, we were there early evening, very few others dining, should have been a bit better. I still enjoyed my meal very much, my misses, not as much. It obvious it was good enough even signed up for the rewards program.

colin hamilton

Saturday July 28th it was one of the best bar experiences I’ve had. The last time I was in there was 22 years ago. Tonight McGinty played and it was exactly how I remembered it. The band was incredible and I even had to look it up why I didn’t remember them (two member passed in 2011 and 2012) yet still the spirit of the band persisted. The beer was good and the service was as good as could be expected by the number of people there. I’d like to single out the crew guy standing by he stage. He obviously enjoyed/loved his job and having him by the stage only increased everyone else’s enjoyment. He was always polite and professional in keeping the area directly in front of the stage clear of inebriated dancers. I would suggest just adding red tape X’s on the floor in front of the stage would make the employees life easier. A visual deterrent to dancing there would go a long way I can’t tell you how awesome the staff was tonight. That dude by the stage had to run off a couple times to assit with outdoors. But seeing him smile and sing along to the songs like that was incredible. He helped get the entire audience into it. He seriously needs to be recognized by his peers. The girl by the patio door was awesome as well. Also the bus boys and the wait staff we interacted with were all amazing. Right now you’ve got all the right people in all the right roles. I cannot express how incredible it was to come back to the lower deck 20 years later and have it be almost exactly the same as when you last left. Seriously tears in my eyes. Thank you.

Jean MacDonald

The Lower Deck is the quintessential Halifax experience. Anyone visiting Halifax hasn't gotten the complete city tour until they've drank at the Lower Deck jammed, in belting out tunes, shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers who, in many cases end up being friends by the end of a few beers and songs. Food and service are consistent and good, no matter how busy they are. All around great pub!

Ryan M

Lower Deck Clayton Park is my favourite place for brunch, a quick lunch, or a casual date night dinner. My boyfriend and I visit often, nearly every week, the staff are friendly and the food is always delicious!

Jessica Fotheringham

I had dinner the other night at the Lower Deck, Clayton Park. I decided to go with my $10.00 coupon and ordered pizza and salad, which was absolutely delicious. It was one of the best pizzas I ever had. I also ordered a blueberry grunt dessert. My waitress was really personable and helped with my order. Her name is Brittany. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend it.

Angad Bedi

Do not go here! Embarrassing. A large group of us were on a trip and were looking to have a good time. We were treated in an unwelcome manner to begin with. When the band (Shamless) directed the word Faggot at one of our group members we could not believe it. And the staff at the bar did nothing. I am disgusted. What a joke and a shame

roxwithears halifax

I have visited the Lower Deck on a number of occasions for a variety of reasons. Whether it's a wedding in the upstairs, live music on the ground floor, or dinner outside, the experience always shares some common ground. Their drink selection is disappointingly bland with an underrepresentation of local craft beers, their food is average, and their servers suffer from severe apathy. But I keep coming back. Why? Because the Lower Deck is a happening place where people want to be regardless of its deficiencies, and you will too.

Anna S

This place is a great addition to the halifax waterfront. I've been there multiple times and this place has never ceases to provide a nice outdoor dining experiences. Also I love the umbrella charging ports that's a great idea.

Paulette Eisenhauer

Best matinees in Canada. Thank you for supporting live music. We appreciate The Deck and the commitment to live music

Craig Beckman

The host is rude, maybe the management reconsider to trained her on a proper customer service.

Allison McGarry

Got there late and couldn't get in, but hung around outside and listened to the band. Great ambience!

For the past four months a group of men from my church have gone to The Lower Deck in Clayton Park for lunch on the second Wednesday of the month. It's been difficult to know in advance how many will show up, but, Gary, Matt and the staff there are very helpful and accomodating. We get all the tables together in the front room there and have a social gathering and conduct a bit of business. The guys keep wanting to go back so, back we go..... Everyone raves about the food, but we would like to see the Lunch Menu Specials changed up occasionally though.

I'm sure this place is great on a weekend if you're 20-something... But mid week after work, not so great. The service kind of sucks... Only the bartenders can serve drinks and they're too busy on their phones or whatever they were doing behind the bar to notice empty pints everywhere. I wouldn't go back.

Lou and Heather Dickinson

Julia was our server. She is awesome. Dan was working too and they both are very great servers. Super friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic like usually.

Aaron and Tracy Cook

The Lower Deck is such a welcome haven. They have established the place as a wonderful bar, with fantastic staff, and clientele. What an absolute joy! A comfortable atmosphere, and oh yes, the food! Huge thanks to wonderful staff who are interested in their customers and make sure we are taken care of. My friends and I go to brunch there every Sunday and look forward to getting together there all week!

Derek Forbes

Nice spot right off the boardwalk in downtown Halifax. Very friendly staff and good bar food

Nancy Renaud

My husband and I visited the Lower Deck over the Easter weekend and were very pleased to see there was a live guitarist playing. It was great to have entertainment while enjoying our steak. Steak was flavorful. Staff friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great Friday night. :)

Heather F

This place never disappoints! Every time i have visited Lower deck, there are some amazing bands playing! The ambience is of a typical Scottish pub! The beer is moderately priced

eric

Had a great supper with my husband. Food was great, service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. Loved the fact that there was live music that was piped upstairs so that it could be enjoyed by all.

Garth Hambly

The Lower Deck on Lacewood is AWESOME!! Staff is fantastic, friendly. Take time to chat not just scoop your monies. Food is also GREAT, large portions and very TASTY. Keep up the great work and I will keep returning with my friends.

armando sellar

Our second visit to the lower deck and second time to see Paul Lamb. He did some great covers and few original songs. Lower deck has a decent beverage selection and food menu, the servers were very attentive and the atmosphere is cozy. I’m sure we’ll be back even though it wasn’t a perfect experience. The down side was the bathrooms smelled bad...before you even got to the bathrooms...granted could be just a coincidence. On the other hand even if it’s an ongoing condition maybe it’s no big deal for some people. But if that’s a problem for you- my advice: go before you go or wait till get home. Bon Voyage.

Tresor Tresor

The server we had was very friendly and prompt. She checked in on us often and was always so cheery when addressing us. The food was delicious and arrived quickly.

Rob Robertson

Great atmosphere, good service, and reasonably priced. When I think of drinking on the east coast, this is the first place that comes to mind. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is because the live music from the band "Shameless" this past time, wasn't very good. The live music was stellar when I was here 5 years ago though

Jillian Macnutt

Had a private party at the tap room for a wedding. Manager was atrociously rude and should not be in any kind of business dealing with customer service. Complained following ceremony kids were in the way for her to move chairs despite not giving any instructions towards guests. Not a pleasant attitude during entire time. At 1230 threatened patrons that she would call the drunk tank 5 minutes after music had finished. Told no time to finish water and get out immediately after some were certainly over served. Ended the night with her slamming door on groom and bride without speaking a word to them. I am not one do write a review but this was an utter disgrace and I would hope practices would be change. Do not book here.

GWEN MARBLE

I have the BEST time at the lower deck. Especially on Sundays when they have live music! It is so jam packed so get there early but the energy is amazing. The bands usually start at 930, so we got there for 8 ish. If you dont like crowded spaces probably not the best place for you... but the servers are constantly coming around with drinks and they do amazing in the crowds. This is a classic maritime pub!!

Amber hardy

I really enjoyed my meal at the Lower Deck. The atmosphere inside with the old rustic pub look is so beautiful. I even took photos to show my friends. Great friendly service too. ???? Marlene Cameron

Amanda & Tom Bettle

Great bar for a late night out, but would not recommend eating there. The food was mediocre at best. The beer battered fish was tasteless and the worst I’ve eaten in the city. The burger was fine, but nothing special. Decent beer selection.

Mark McKinley

Great experience Had a fabulous meal and listened to Paul Lamb play his Saturday matinee show. The place was electric, the staff and everyone around was having a great time singing and smiling. Will definitely return!

Michael Williamson

One of the best venues for live music during the week. In the summer there is also a stage outside with an additional band playing beside the one inside. Last time I was here was on a Monday night and it was very lively with a great band signal hill. Will go back and have many times.

Helen Cross

We have been here a few times now and always find the staff very happy and attentive. The food also leaves us full and satisfied. We've had burgers, steaks, brunch and the liver and onions were topped with a wonderful nest of french fried onions, very nice and tasty. We like the atmosphere and location and would recommend to anyone who likes a pub atmosphere and a good meal. Prices were moderate.

Janice Morse

Great live music! Attentive staff. Great atmosphere when it's not packed so you can't move ☺️.
