Very good place to enjoy good food and good songs, but come on guys... Making your customers leave the place before the new year and charge $40 to us get inside again wasn't the best idea for sure. Never ever happened something like that with me. With all places around I chose Roxybury and could have spent triple of you charged just to get in. In the end just spent a couple dollars because of this "strategy". The rest is fine, It is still a good place to stay for a while.

I liked the cocktail list and the fact that every menu item is a pun or something ridiculous. The music videos are cool to watch. The food is pretty good and it's somewhere to go that's not expensive. Definitely a place to hang with friends but being alone there is also fine.

Feels a lot less grungy than it's predecessor. Menu items are typically single serve, most of which are $5, so you can't really beat that. For a dive bar it's pretty decent! I tried the Nachos (Another Juan) and added beef, which was really good, but it was an extra $3 making it an $8 item... More than half the price of regular shareable nachos but a lot less than half the size.. The Hot Mess was also pretty good

Great prices for awesome food bring the family and enjoy some of the funky named dishes. If you're looking for something for the kids, try the hot mess. Cheesy pasta topped with hot cheetos and bacon. Or if your a vegetarian, try the kill bill. Udon with a kick. And if your looking for some fancy fish tacos, try the billie eifish. And if the fantastic food wasn't enough, the awesome 80's music and the super cool decorations are enough to keep you interested.

The bouncer on the door on Saturday November 27/21 after the tree lighting my daughter and her friends went to get something to eat and the bouncer won’t let my daughter in but she had the proof to say how old she was , this man Proceeded to ask her for more proof so she gave him her Photo ID her health card her vaccination card and her Blue Cross card which has my name on it because I am the insurance holder I don’t appreciate people embarrassing my daughter in forever everybody I’m gonna call now do you have any more proof

Very hip restaurant. All entres are 6 dollars and the food was great. Portions are smaller but we all left full and very happy. Highly.recommended when in Halifax.

Awful service. For the majority of the night we wouldn’t see our waitress for over 20 minutes at a time. After being there for only a short period and having a table of 11 people, they took our only 3 menus that we were given because they had run out of menus for other people even though the place was not full. When we ordered a drink it did not come for over 30 minutes, and I had to go up to the bar and ask why it had not been made even though the bar tenders were just sitting around. They said that they only had a couple of glasses for that specific drink and had run out and I had to wait for one of the glasses to become available to me again. But with no sight of the waitress, no one told us the entire time we were sitting there. When I finally tracked down the waitress to get my bill so I could leave, she not only charged me full price for everything and expected a tip (since there was no option to not tip on their machines) but she also made everyone else pay their bills because “we were a large table and they needed to free up room”. Honestly, this is some of the worst service I have had. Even though the prices are cheap, it’s a horrible experience.

Lots of loud music there which is fun if you're looking for excitement. Good food and drink there too. Very popular place so, there can sometimes be a line up to get into the Roxbury especially on Fridays and Saturdays. They don't seem to be open from Monday to Wednesday though.

I know it's called a dive bar, but it is only so in name and decor. The place is owned by the Grafton Connor Group, which in addition to the RUDB also lends their kitchen services to The Five Fishermen & Little Fish, and Auction House... two establishments with great reputations. Roxbury lives up to that reputation with a varied menu featuring items from all over the world, at a $5 price-tag. But a restaurant's food is only as good as the service behind it. The service staff is friendly and knowledgeable, management is enthusiastic, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable.

Nice staff. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was not very busy. Food arrived promptly. The food is priced really low 5.00 is the norm before addons.I ordered a burger with fries and a 14oz beer and with tip it came in under 14.00. The burger was fine fries were average. A good place for a quick drink and food. Has outdoor seating in season.

It was a late, evening in July, my partner and I stopped in and received a warm welcome and excellent service! Not only did we enjoy the food, and drinks (very inexpensive) but also we were entertained by the manager with his impressive magic tricks and friendly service. Highly recommend that you check out the Roxbury!

I had a drink here the other day and to be honest it was not a special because one the drink was not watered down and did not taste like the normal cocktail and two when I was done consuming the drink the glass was filled with ice. Everything is $6 and it’s amazing. Good food, amazing shots/drinks, the menu names are hilarious, hip music (2000-2020 ish pop music) that you can sing along to, and overall a nice chic environment. Most importantly though, I went last night (March 31st, 2021) with my friend around 9 pm - 10:30 pm, there was a creep at the bar who started harassing us and they immediately took action by asking if he’s bothering us, making sure he wasn’t getting out of his seat to come over to us, etc. He ended up leaving when they stepped in but they really helped us feel welcomed, and safe there. I never managed to get their names however a MASSIVE thank you to the waitress working last night (long brown ponytail) and the bouncer (long beard)! We will 100% be coming back because of you two! So incredibly thankful for them and for making sure the Roxbury is a place where girls can feel SAFE!!

The manager (?) was very rude to my friend, stating “could you put your foot down, this is a restaurant” (in a very snarky tone, might I add) First off, it’s a dive bar, and one of your booths is being used to hold a cooler and some glasses, so calling it a “restaurant” might be a bit of a stretch... Secondly, if she wants to put her leg up to make herself comfortable, then so be it, you should probably let it slide and just clean the booth after if it bothered you that much. Food was subpar, you pay for what you get... drinks were okay... the waitress was sweet, so I’ll give it 2 stars, but aside from that, we won’t be back.

My boyfriend was initially denied entry to the bar after being confused for someone else who they said had an incident with their bartender. After asking for the manager to show me the proof of this they finally realized the mistake of their racial profiling. Offers a complimentary drink. Thanks but not returning again too much stress and aggravation for a night out.

Came in here not expecting much, I've lived in Vancouver and see the Warehouse type restaurants before. I ordered the machu picchu bowl and wings and settled in for a beer. I was a bit put off by the volume of the music but it is what it is. The bowl arrived and i was shocked at how good it was. This is easily a 13 dollar dish elsewhere. Wings were great as well. I will definitely be back.

The restaurant is fairly wonderful, but the one waiter down there (Caliegh) was rudely asking for more tips despite the fact that we had given her a tip commensurate with our worth. She was telling us a rule that if your bill exceeds this amount, you must tip at least this much. Who does she think she is to decide how much I should tip? She also mentioned "you have been sitting here all day long" and asked for extra tips. It felt very condescending and we felt humiliated.

I went out for a few drinks on Sunday and it was super packed, since there was a hockey game going on. The service was not very prompt, which I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for. I got my first drink in a timely manner and then waited 40 minutes for my second drink I had ordered. They brought everyone else’s drinks to our table, but forgot mine. By this time almost all the tables had cleared out and we informed them 4 times throughout about my drink not being served. It finaaaaally came once my husband went to the bar to complain. It seemed like their system for taking orders and their pos system seemed quite unorganized and like they aren’t used to having large crowds.

i’ve visited the roxbury a few times and always have had a decent experience. i have yet to try the $5 food but their extensive cocktail menu makes for a great stop on a night out. my personal favourites are the ambiguous “slurp juice” as well as the “bff roxyrita” to split with a friend or two. drink prices are pretty average for a dive bar. service can be quite slow - especially on a friday/saturday night but the servers are all friendly and accommodating. on one particular visit the service was slower than usual, so our bartender gave us a few shots on the house. the in house DJ and music videos playing make great ambiance that puts you in the mood to dance. super great location as well (directly next door to taboo, the dome and minutes away from pacifico.)

Doesn't do takeout. Guess they rather have someone take up space in the joint with a small order instead of just getting take out. Charge for takeout containers if you have to, no excuse to refuse service when youre a dive bar.

Don't let the name fool you. This place is cool, from it's decor, to it's music, to it's pub fare. I've eaten in a lot of bars and pubs, but the food here is really good. Some of the best fries I've ever had, and everything came to the table piping hot! They have outdoor seating for nice mid-day luncheons as well. If you live here or just "getting off the boat" for the day, make this your lunch stop- guarantee you won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere was good but we had an unattentive waitress. We received tiny glasses of room temp water when we were sested but were never asked if we wanted other drinks or refills. The food was less then sub-par we even had to send back a dish that was so over cooked it was inedible. The best thing about the place was the obviously out of the box cheesecake.

Waited for 20 minutes after we finished our food trying to flag someone down to no avail. But yet it's empty seats and waiters chatting around us. Hopefully this changes soon.
