Let me start out by saying this is not meant to be rude, but honest. Niche used to be our favourite place to go in the entire city. Their prices were great and their food was delicious! The past 4 times I have been, I don't know what has happened but it is awful. There must be a new chef, food arrives burnt to a crisp, way way way over salted, or quite evidently old. We had our favourite artichoke dip which is supposed to come with warm pita bread for dipping, the pita was so old and so burnt it felt like it turned to ash in our mouths. The calamari is like chewing a tasteless slimey rubber boot... The drinks... any drink you order with pop in it (eg rum and coke, whiskey and ginger) your pop will most definitely be flat, very very flat. Tonight though was a new record, in which I had to send 3 completely different drinks back they tasted so awful. The house red tasted like warm, watered down expired grape juice. The shock top beer, with the rotting orange on the glass, tasted like filthy tap, and the martini they sent me had globbybar dirt floating in it, unacceptable. This was not "a bad night". The food, drinks, and service have been awful the past few times, this is not only my report. Also, the same stall door lock in the female bathroom has been broken for like 8 months.... it has gotten to the point where the cheap bill at the end of the night is not even worth the sickly food and drinks they serve to their paying customers. I will not spend another dime at niche, nor will I recommend it to anyone.

The vibe at the new is soild. The new design is amazing a mix between industrial and chic, the make it very inviting with the low lights and smooth music. Plus amazing to watch games at as it's not overly crowded and plenty of causal seating for a group! Would highly recommend the new layout and design ????

Who is That BEARDED wanna be weekend manager with his horrible attitude? He is the the worst of the worst!. Remainder of staff are horrendous and childish as well. SHOULD OF LEARNED my lesson 1st time round. Shocking beyond belief how rude and silly things get in there . Please stay away! This establishment is the farthest thing from East Coast hospitality as you can get. They are really the worst establishment in the city. Food is not horrific mind you. So there is that... No words to describe the deplorable service that will come your way. Be warned. Adiois.

I was meeting some people. It was my first time there, but it was Friday night, super busy and loud but the decor and space is pretty nice. I didn't care much for the sports on the multiple TVs but they were something to see. They have a good burger and a good selection of cocktails.

I visited niche after a week of its new launch. The uplift that this place has got is marvelous. Loved the decor and ambience. Did certainly feel like walking into a top notch restro bar . During peak hours seating needs to be dealt well, other than that i enjoyed every minute spent there. Kudos to the management in regards to this amazing uplift. Staff were good and friendly. Standard of the food has not dropped. Still a bit expensive, but worth it if you go as a group.

Awesome spot with awesome staff. Great $3.50 happy hour everyday starting at 4:00PM, including half off selected apps (food only until 6:30PM). Brand new location with lots of TVs and seating. Lots of selection for drinks as well. My only "complaint" would be that they have an odd playlist going all the time. Kind of like 10 different people have been adding to one playlist. But, like, three of those people really like club music. Not that big of a deal though.

The food is terrible. I'm not sure if they hired new kitchen staff after the move, but the quality went way down hill . The calamari was greasy, too heavy on the 5 spice mix. Beer was flat too. The room looks nice. It took almost ten minutes to get a glass of water. We had to leave the table and go to the bar and ask for water, where we were told by a very cranky staff member that they are switching to their night staff. I guess you can't even order a glass of water during the switch. Very odd, every other restaurant can manage it.

I've been here twice, and while it wasn't an altogether bad experience, I wouldn't say this place is super clean. I've heard the same thing from other people who work in the industry about this place. Nice menu though and great for business meetings or watching sporting events on the patio. It's much larger than you would expect viewing it from the outside. The location is also really good near Spring Garden area and the Maritime center.

Great happy hour! Our group sat inside. The place was absolutely packed on Friday night. It has a pretty good ambiance. They have happy hour special on drinks and food. I sampled the calamari, herb pizza, perrogies and nachos. The food was good, not amazing in my opinion, but the ambiance make up for it.

We went on valentine's day, it was pretty empty. We got the three course meal for 19.99 each, the only good part was the lava cake for dessert. Service was slow, and we were only checked on a couple of times. Waitress was nice however, atmosphere was fun but got quite loud.

I really like their new place in the Maritime Centre. It's very spacious and well laid out. I wouldn't call it a sports bar but their large screen TVs often have NHL and NBA games on them. I like their menu and especially their burgers.

Everything about this place was awful. It always seems pretty full in here, but most of what I have heard about Niche was relatively negative. I wanted to give it a shot anyway. It was one of the few places open for late night eats and we were looking to go out for dinner because we had nothing but crappy leftovers in our fridge. Looking back, I wish we would have stayed in. The atmosphere was really loud and stuffy. It felt like a frat-boy college party. Music was loud and the place felt kind of cramped. The beer list is pretty limited - your typical Coors, Molson, Keiths list. There may have been a Garrison beer on the list, but I can't recall. I do recall very limited options for local or craft beers. I ordered the Margherita pizza and my partner ordered a burger. He said the burger was alright; however, my pizza was hardly edible. I was so hungry, I might have had one slice. Service was pretty rushed. To be fair, we should up at about 9:45pm when their kitchen closed at 10pm. We acknowledged this and asked if it was okay to still order food. The server was asking for our order almost as soon as I had my coat off. I hardly got a chance to look at the menu. Overall, not recommended and I won't be back.

A word to the wise-- skip the Nutella burger! It just tastes like chocolate mixed with beef. Not like Darrell's Peanut Butter Burger which is delicious. It's very dimly lit and quite loud with TVs all around. Keep that in mind as you consider what kind of evening you want to have. The fries are good though!

Pleasant and relaxed... Place filled up fast after work, but it was happy hour on a Friday evening. Seems like a mostly business crowd at this hour. I sat at the bar and kept to myself. Had several of the bartenders checking to see if I had everything I needed. 3 beers and an app cost me $18. I'll certainly be back.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Yo! Where the white girls at!?" well look no further because this place is 100% where the white girls at. If you love cheep beer and the high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeee" noise white girls make when you get 3 or more of them together and excited then this is the place for you! Also the nachos are good.

Great weekend specials! Draft at incredible prices, apps at half price 4:00-6:00. Many TVs to watch sports. Fantastic service! I recommend stopping by to watch NFL games. SIt seemed strange that it is in a mall like setting, but the facilities are top notch in the restaurant.

Very unpleasant experience at Niche. My boyfriend and I went to Niche for dinner. The lady who was seating us took us to a low table with two sofa chairs. We asked to be moved to a regular table. The lady rolled her eyes to us and threw our menus on the other table with a bad and unprofessional attitude. After that, we were helped by another server who was in charge of taking orders. We asked if we could use our discount app on our phone. The server grabbed our phone with no manner. He was very, very impatient when we asked for extra time before ordering. More than two of the main courses we were interested in weren't available. I think that's it. We do not recommend Niche.

Ok - why I waited so long to go here is beyond me. Went for 2020 Burger Week - and while their regular menu looked delicious, their burger week submission was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. The team in that kitchen know what they're doing. Perfectly balanced flavours. All the right textures. And to perfect belly pork to the point that my English husband says its better than any he had growing up in the UK? Golden. The servers were all really friendly and attentive- they all seemed to cover each other which is nice to see. The place was packed (socially distanced of course) and still, our food arrived fresh and hot within 15 minutes. We were so impressed - we will definitely be back to try their regular menu.

My friends and I visit the Niche Lounge on a weekly basis and have never had a bad experience. The service is always good, even when the place is packed. The prices of drinks can't be beat anywhere else in Halifax. The half price apps before 6 (or 630 can't remember) are a game changer. An awesome sports bar, or just a great place to meet up with friends and have some food and drink. Can't wait to get back to my regular spot once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

I used to go to Niche almost every week a few years ago when it was in the old location. However now I am not a fan of the new spot but also the food and drinks are only ok. The new location is very noisy given the cement walls and it gives off a cold atmosphere. Also the servers are fine and food is okay but not great. The quality of the food in my opinion is not worth what you are paying unless you are going for happy hour from 4 to 6. Everyday Niche does a happy hour from 4 to 6 where you can get certain dishes for half price and from 4 to close for drink specials. Overall, I would recommend other lounges over Niche but if you are looking for a place to go with friends and to watch sports its fine.

The entrance is a bit different than normal with the construction but Niche is lovely. It was fairly busy while we were there but social distancing and plexi glass were up to separate tables. We were in a birthday party. The atmosphere is Nice. However, the rest is terrible. I asked the waiter to clean the table because we had other people sitting there before us and it was a mess. She removed the glasses. That’s it. She brought the food and drinks on top of a disgusting table. I ordered a flatbread of chicken, goat cheese and tomatoes. It tasted nothing, cold, and undercooked. I regret spending my money there. I will never put my feet there again.

Niche is the east coast take on a downtown Toronto style bar. Cheap Keith's and cozy seating made Niche a local icon when it was across the hall from its newer, much larger location. The cheap beer is still there, although the comfy couches are gone. Lots of TVs and a pretty good food menu. It gets busy and service is notoriously slow, but Niche is a good place to start an evening out with a crew.

If I could post a -1I would, My husband and I as well as friends came in this afternoon, and on top of having terrible service, our food was cold when we got it but we were in a hurry and after waiting 40 mins for it and 20 mins for him to take our order in the first place, just ate it anyway. The server decided to serve the customers that from what we could tell were either regulars or friends (as they called him by name several times, and spent time chit chatting with him). I personally have been there a few times and really enjoyed it, and after talking up your resturant to my company I was with was very dissipointed in how it all turned out. The waiter left us waiting at the door to be seated for almost 10 mins, never said 2 words to us just grabbed menus and dropped them on the table and left. He was annoyed at the fact we asked for a water refill, and took 20 mins to take our order. We watched 2 seperate tables come in, get their food and check before we even got our food. I and very dissipointed in not only the service but the quality of the food we were served. I feel that even though we are not regular customers or friends with the server our service should have been up to the same standards as everyone else. Shame on you niche! I for one will no longer be referring anyone here, what a shame.

Three weeks ago I planned my chapaign birthday and wanted to make niche my dinner spot. For two weeks the inbox was full every time i called! (Every day) then last week I got ahold of the manager. And he said he would try and accommodate last minute of he could and asked me what time I would like to go. After telling him the time i was planning on,HE NEVER GOT BACK TO ME.The service is bad even before I walk in the door. It's obviously poorly run. Luckily Boston pizza accommodated me but it was a last resort.

First time to this location but I cannot really rate it. I entered the restaurant with mask intact. When I went to use washroom the strap snapped. The employee told me I could not re-enter the restaurant without mask intact, understandably, and was forced to stand in line at the 4 Points Sheraton lobby to get a new one which took 30 minutes. They proceeded to bring the food to my table in my absence and it was cold when I arrived back. The restaurant should have masks available as accidents do happen. I will add that some employees did not wear masks at all and when I inquired I was informed that the bartender and others working in that area did not require them. The wait staff all wore masks at all times. The remaining staff were sporadic or did not wear them at all. Very dsappointed as this could have been handled so much better. Date of attendance was Aug.7 time 6 pm.

Niche competes with the best when it comes to TV screens and range of sports you can watch (EPL and Champions league) accompanied by well priced draft beer paired with some nachos you are in business. I wouldn't expect too much from their main courses or outside of typical pub style foods. But they aren't trying to be more than that so it works well for all !

Their new location is much more trendy than the old, but still the same (or similar) menu. Now in a spot facing the harbor, the views are better, the ceilings higher, and the space is less bizarre. My frustrations with my recent visit was that some of the seating is bolted to the floor at an awkward distance from tables that are bolted to the floor. Or its impossible to get a more comfortable seat if your group grows. I ended up sitting on a wobbly stool and my back was sore afterwards because two chairs within arm's reach were also bolted down. I also can't currently speak to the availability or reliability of gluten and/or dairy free food on their menu. As a sports bar, I would probably be careful either way. I will update if I visit again.

Went last night to enjoy the soccer team kit unveiling. Got the artichoke dip during happy hour. Our bread was charred in places and tasted burnt. Our dip wasn’t even spreadable, almost like it was reheated numerous times before it came out. Charged full price for the item when it was to be half price during happy hour. Had to order my main course four times because the poor waitress kept coming back to tell us they were also out what I just ordered. Our friends got the mac and cheese. It was so dry and overcooked they didn't even eat half of it. My veggie pizza seemed off, almost like it was really cheap or fake cheese. The waitress asked our friends if they wanted the mac and cheese to take home and she was informed how terrible it was. Nothing was done about it. So we ordered the apple blossoms for dessert. Well waited 35 mins for them. Not even made in house and it was still partially frozen in the centre. It was not cooked. Seriously??? Best part, myself and my friend ended up vomiting through the night from food poisoning. Will not be back.

Nice place, cheap drinks, ordered 1 drink from one table it took the waitress forever to bring me my drink she wasn't pleasant at all to deal with and she walked off without even offering me my change, It's not like she was serving me the whole night, it was a single drink. He ordered the veggie burger, so I can’t really comment on it, but my mac n’cheese with pancetta was very good, and so was the spinach & artichoke dip. Drinks were good as well, but service was incredibly slow. From the time we ordered, we probably received our appetizer and entrees (all at once) 45 minutes later. Disappointingly long wait time, but food was tasty. Seems like a good place for happy hour and drinks with friends!

Hero Bouncer Would Not Help A Sick Kid I don't recall this place being particularly spectacular when I lived in Nova Scotia years ago; in any case, my brother and I were visiting Halifax last Thursday evening when we walked by a family with a young boy who was sick and spilling his lunch on the sidewalk. His parents were trying to comfort him and clean him up; I offered to go grab a glass of water and napkins from the nearest place which happened to be Niche. When I explained to the bar tender why I needed a glass of water and napkins, he was more than happy to help out. As we were walking out the hero bouncer stopped us. My brother began to explain about the kid who was throwing up on the sidewalk and it was only water in the glass. The bouncer told us he “doesn’t care what it is, you can’t take the glass outside of the patio”. Again, we explained about the kid who was literally 20 paces away and again the bouncer said it didn’t matter what was in the glass, we couldn’t leave with it. His thinking seems flawed, he should care what is in the glass, what if I did walk out with alcohol? Seems like that would be bigger issue than taking a cheap beer glass. After a few minutes of trying to explain, I said forget it, I will find a convenience store; well, then the hero bouncer felt badly because the parents of the kid could hear all of this. In the end, the bouncer handed the glass of water to the kid so he could wash the puke off his face. I understand there are rules, and I expected the bouncer to stop and question us; however once we explained ourselves and made our intentions clear, not to mention he could see the kid and his parents, I feel the bouncer should have been more reasonable instead of puffing his chest out and pea cocking about. He made himself look like an arrogant fool. I hope the kids parents smashed the glass on the sidewalk in front of him.

Will not go back there. We had a mouse under our table and when we notified the waiter he wasn't surprised at all and admitted it. He said the mice are hiding in the radiators and they are working on it. He said it like it's normal. I wish we would have left, but relocated to another section and after we were done eating I noticed paint or something falling down the ceiling on us. It was all around us on the floor. Waiter didn't offer discount but we asked for it and got 25%. Not going back there
