A classic of Halifax. Great place to go to grab a bite to eat and hang out for a while. Even at the peak before a hockey game they know how to circle the floor constantly between many waiters to ensure everyone has a full drink and everything they need. Very reasonably priced too with a well stacked menu.

It's exactly as the name implies: middle of town for food and quality. Not fine dining: just good quality pub food. They don't play games with pricing: full pint is $7 and half pint is $3.50. You'll notice the same honesty with the menu pricing: very fair and reasonable. Also, the cheeseburger is fantastic and obviously not from a box.

Very poor customer service, and bouncers who are extremely aggressive and just plain mean. Too small of a place, no diversity or anything special about the menu, not many types of drinks, and none that are special. Don’t go here. It’s just a bad place with bad staff, bad customers, and nothing worth your time.

The place was pretty busy. It was game night for the Mooseheads. As it is very close to stadium, its popular for pre game drinks and food. The staff did a great job. I didn't feel there was any long wait for food, beers got delivered and renewed quickly. The food is excellent. Normal pub, Tavern type food.

What can you say about the Midtown, it's not fancy, it's not posh, and it's not a high-brow menu. They make a mean steak, they make it fast, and they make it well. If you want gourmet, go somewhere else. If you want good, fast, filling food, that won't break your wallet, go here. Working class stiffs have been for decades, and will continue to do so. When you look up "tavern" in the dictionary, it should have a picture of the Midtown. They know what they're doing, and they do it well. Anything else isn't needed.

I have eaten at Midtown once and gone to boomers once. Both times I was very disappointed. The food was quite bad, and the selection of drinks was poor. The service wasn’t anything impressive. The bartenders were standard for Halifax. I haven’t visited since 2019, so hopefully since then things have improved. Probably more directed for a younger audience.

We really missed this location during the pandemic. Enjoyed our cold draught angel Hamburgh Steak. Will be back of course. I had my stag party at old Midtown in 1971. Will be 50 years wedding anniversary on April 16th. Great staff and yes I miss old Doug and Eric. RIP my friends. Bud Breau and son Marc Breau scores a perfect 5 Of 5. Be Safe!!!

Had the 2 piece fish and chips. Order was a good size and loved the coleslaw. I asked for my 2 pieces of fish to be well done, but instead I got light tan batter that was not fully cooked. I ended up taking the batter off and eating the fish. The male waiters drop by the table ounce. If you have an issue with your food, would like another beverage, etc. You have to wave across the room to get their attention from their phone or distract them from watching TV.
