The food is decent, but the service is terrible. I was out on the patio about a month ago and it took 15 minutes to be noticed. The server forgot about our drinks and had to return to retake the order. Then twenty minutes after ordering food, the server came back and asked if I wanted food. I probably won't return.

Atmosphere is nice, and has a good selection of drinks. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Wings were dry and on the small side. The nachos were deprived of cheese and the chicken looked and tasted like it came from a can. Also took over 30 mins to get the food out.

Really enjoy this spot. Staff are great and beer is good.they have trivia nights and prizes. Fun atmosphere in the evenings. Only lost a star because it's a basic kitchen with limited food options... Not that we're going for food! ????

This place has a nice vibe and great location. I was a little upset they dropped the Tots from the menu. They were quite addicting. Who doesn't like tots? From what I could gather, this place recently changed management so the menu was changed. It's been heavily minimized which, I think, is a good thing. It's a pub not a high end dining venue. They have a decent beer selection and it gets quite busy at night.

Revised update 2018 now 1 star maybe less. Do not order the macaroni, the smell is awe full and putrid. It's dry and just a total waste of money. The only reason I'm giving it 1 star not 0 is because one of the waitress is nice. Brainless Indians running the place and I'm allowed to say that because I'm part Indian! These guys have no clue what standards are expected, no manors and 0 experience in providing good customer service. The only thing good about this place that's still valid is the layout and the live music.

The waitress was nice but the cook needs to watch a few episodes of Bar Rescue in my opinion. Our Hamburger was really pink and seemed uncooked in the middle so we sent it back. She got us a new one and as you can see from the picture, it was similar. I know you can eat hamburger like this but it would nice to know they checked that it was at least 160 degrees in the middle before serving it. Considering how difficult it is with COVID for restaurants to get traffic I certainly wouldn't want to keep customers away. In Summary, the waitress was great but I will never go there again unless it's for a beer. She said we got the burger for staff price. That ended up being $33 or so before tip for 1 burger with fries, 1 soup and two Ginger Beer. hmmmm. Perhaps a little thing poked into the center of the burger to confirm the temp and then something with the burger would be a smart improvement? The science behind this: The only way to accurately determine whether ground beef has reached a safe internal temperature is to use a meat thermometer. If you’re served a pink burger, you should always check first to see if it’s reached that 160°F mark

Service was okay, staff was polite. We had lunch and the food seems to have gone down in quality. I ordered a chicken wrap and it's was extremely plain. Chicken sauce and some lettuce no tomatoes or anything which I don't know is the form for a bar wrap? The nachos took almost 20 mins and were simply plain nachos sprinkled with cheese on top not melted or anything and no other toppings. I'll stick to just beers and cocktails from here on out as there's better food options for roughly the same cost aka Hops. The Bar itself is physically nice and inviting with a decent patio.

What a start to our time in New West! I was super impressed with the service, selection, food, and pandemic safety measures put in place at Judge Begbie's. I love the local options they have on tap for beers and the new menu has at least two exceptional burgers on it. We'll definitely be back, highly recommend for anyone in the New West area.

Went to Judge Begbie's for dinner this past Sunday. Service was decent. The food, not so good. Ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich. There was an excessive amount of coleslaw in the sandwick, more then there was meat. On top of That, the coleslaw was super saucy and basically melted the bun to the point of disintegration. Resorted to eating what little meat there was in the sandwich with a fork.

Yep. This place is okay. For some reason they only serve sleeves of most beers, but they call them "pints", which is illegal in Canada according to many sources. They also overcharge (seven bucks) for a sleeve of Steel & Oak Red Pilsner (which is a fantastic beer) when you can get an actual real pint of Guiness here for fifty cents more. They don't really have a full kitchen; it's more of a pizza oven and microwave type of thing. The food suffers because of it, and the nightly special is often a hot dog that costs more than the near identical hot dog off the menu - nothing special about that. All that said, it's not a terrible place to grab a drink and the trivia night on Wednesday is pretty great.

When Lafflines shut down our open mic with no warning, Greg and the musicians graciously accepted us onto their stage, so thank you for saving our evening! The drinks were made well and it was nice to have tater tots again for the first time in years.

The cook at this establishment obviously didn't get the memo as to how to make potato skins even though the item name would make it clearer. More shocking was the cost of $13.99 for 6 thinly sliced potatoes topped with lightly sprinkles of cheese and bacon bits. We easily understood why the place was empty other than one table. I realize this city is short on able bodied cooks and servers, however, all staff should BE AWARE of what their menu items are supposed to look like and taste like. And this meal was merely a few potatoes with a lot of grease. Disappointed that bartender, wasn't any more aware than the kitchen as to what potato skins look or taste like, or he wouldn't have brought the plate to the table.

Not a bad spot overall but wouldn't go out of my way for it. Had the red wine sangria, pulled pork with the side upgraded to perogies. It was $3 to upgrade and not a lot of perogies.. Likely wouldn't do that again. The pulled pork was exactly what you'd expect- and I love a classic so this was a +1 in my books. Hate when restaurants mess with a good thing! Our server was good, we lucked out and got her after switching tables. When we first sat we almost left as the first one was rude. We told her we were moving to the patio and she didnt end up telling the patio server. She just spotted us and said she had no idea we were even out there. :/ thanks for nothing other server.

If I had to describe this pub by using a colour it would be: Taupe. Allow me to explain: It's not a matter of like or dislike with this pub simply because it's really not noteworthy or remarkable on any level and yet not unremarkable at the same time. I am not a huge drinker by any means. On the occassions that I have been to judge begbies I have always been treated wonderfully by the all the staff. The pub is very clean, well stocked and has a refreshingly eclectic and diverse selection of beverages. The food is great and prices are on par with its peers. There are two incredibly bright stars stand out and keep me coming back which are the owner of the pub who is simply a wonderful person to talk to and is totally in his element when it comes to customer service. The other is a dark haired male bartender that I've had the pleasure of meeting on many of my visits but I have never asked him his name (I will be updating this ASAP) I guarantee you won't be sorry for making this a stop on your night out

It's nice looking but was empty, so that makes me wonder a bit. Also the prices are double here for drinks compared to"The Hub" which is right off New Westminster SkyTrain station. Bathrooms were semi clean. I think I saw bird poop on the wall. And on the outside tables. Probably won't return, but it's not the worst place I've been so it's not that I wouldn't recommend it, but it's on the lower part of my places to go list!

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend for nachos. We have been in search of a place that makes nachos properly. It seems these days anywhere you go for nachos, all the toppings are on the top layer, and once the top layer is gone, its bare bones! What happened to layering the nachos with cheese and toppings! And also what happened to "add meat for an extra cost" and then maybe getting 6 little crumbles of beef or 5 little pieces of chicken.... So anyways, we decided to try Begbies as we have never been there before. We saw nachos on the menu. We added beef to them and when they arrived they looked amazing. But we were not fooled by the cover of this book. It was hard to find much beef on them. For an extra 5$ it was a sad sad amount. Once the top layer was gone it was just bare nacho chips with a couple random toppings thrown in. no cheese at all. Sadly another one bites the dust in the nacho department....

Went to this place last night with a group. We were hungry so we split nachos with ground beef and a half order of chicken wings. The nachos were the most disgusting I’ve ever had. There’s a weird taste to them, almost a slight soap taste. The chips were stale. The toppings were only on the top layer and they looked unappetizing as hell. The chicken wings seemed like they were microwaved. Flavorless. I would go back here for a beer but I would not order food from this place again. Service was excellent though.

I would have easily given this place a 5 before the change in management but things have slightly declined since. It's still a good place to take in the Whitecaps game or a UFC event but the food has taken a hit since the switch. They also increased the price of their drinks by a bit. However, they do have a good selection of beers including local favourite Steel and Oak and a good selection of drinks in general. Overall it's a solid bar in a very convenient location. My go to for UFC events.

Can't figure out how to give 4.5 stars.... Definitely worth stopping in for a pint or twelve. Great staff, especially Tamara, Chad, and Siobhan. Nick is in the kitchen killing the pub eats! Somewhat basic menu takes it from 5 to 4.5 but a great place to relax and smile. Highly recommended!!

We went on a Saturday at around 1pm and had the place to ourselves for a little bit. The server was very polite and attentive. When I asked if we could watch a tennis match that was about to start, the server immediately searched for the channel and played the game. We ordered beer, a roast beef sandwich, and chose the salad greens as a side. It was delicious and portion generous.

The place was very quiet, probably a timing thing. The bartender was very nice, and gave change that made tipping awkward, but in a kind non taking advantage way, detrimental to herself vs. the client. place is clean and inviting, just no Buzz?

Watched a Canucks game there recently (only game they won in the past two weeks, may have to go back there for good luck...) Service was good, staff was friendly, beer selection was not bad - they did have some local beer on tap. Lots of large screens and they had the sound on. Nice, cozy place to watch the game. I will go back and try the food one day.

We went in and it was slow but they were closing for staff party. We were the only 2 people in there. We didn't eat so can't comment. Service was good. In terms of good bar this place was not busy

I ordered some starters with drinks. They charged me extra for a dip which they didn’t mentioned. They also charged more for the beer I didn’t ordered. Bartender told me that the owner told her to charge extra. What a cheap act ????

Great service, great beer specials. Didn't try the food. The food menu seems pretty dated - standard pub fare that was popular 20 years ago. Kinda surprised it was so slow on a Friday night, but I gave 5 stars due to the service being on point and a beer special I actually enjoyed.

Great vibe here. Was here a few Fridays nights and we had fun. Place was buzzing but you could still find a cheap and drinks weren't too expensive. Looking for a place to go in new west on the weekend that isn't dead, I'd recommend this place.

Very helpful staff. We wanted to sit on the patio as we had dog with us and they opened the patio and gave tables and chairs a wipe for us. We shared appetizers and the pulled pork quesadillas were particularly good.

I went for a beer with my wife. They serve Steel and Oak beers - bonus! The bartender was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was like being downtown - very hip - cool jazz music playing. I will definitely go again.

This bar has a place in New Westminster history. The hard working staff take care of the customers relentlessly. The food and bar fare have never disappointed. I felt welcome and at home enjoying my favorite beverages. I will return again at my soonest convenience. That you to the staff who made my experience so worthwhile. Chris and Leia were the ones who made it all worthwhile.
