This place good except the one fat ugly waitress/manager, shes actually brings this place down with her bad people skills and slow service, and works at her own slow pace. It was so slow me and a few other people actually had to go inside to the bar and get our own drinks because she was to busy chatting to her friends inside the bar. She glares and treats costumes disrespectful when serving them. Owner ship should take a serious look in to this case and revaluat her what she drings to the business. Thier are meny pubs much better then this and you can get treated much better somewhere else

Great drinks, and great food. Generally competent service, with a couple exceptional servers. Not a place that feels cozy or that you'd want to regularly frequent in my opinion. Feels more like a trendy place to go and have some drinks, that can appeal to a wide arrange of people without having much of a unique vibe or lasting impact. I do like this place though and enjoy it a lot, it is my favourite place to grab a drink when the mood strikes me. The music is usually at a good level and there are always various games on. It's clean, and the bathrooms have always been well kept. There's always something new to try and a lot of deals on different days. If you're thinking of checking it out, I'd really recommend that you do. The beer selection is really good. One of my only gripes is that they do not use red bull in their Jager bombs. And that the place is kind of forgettable. Either more interesting decor or some friendlier and more talkative staff could make it more memorable. It seems like a place with an identity crisis.

What a horrible experience. I popped in for lunch today at a table outside. Since each table outside had full menus on it and no sign to wait to be seated, I sat myself down at a table and waited. And waited. And waited. For over ten minutes until a slow moving waitress appeared. She took my order, a diet coke with no ice and a burger with no bun. Yes, slightly customized but not rocket science. My diet coke comes shortly, with ice. I say nothing. Ten minutes or so later, my burger comes with a bun. Instead of them remaking it for me, they remove the bun and it's back to me in about a minute. It is not on a plate and so when I cut into the meat and salad I am cutting the paper up on the metal bowl it has come in. Whatever, I'm not a fussy person so I don't say anything (not that I could have anyway, she did not come back to see if it was okay). She removes the metal bowl and paper once I'm finished and then proceeds to have a ten minute chat with another girl sitting at the table. I am waiting for my bill but she does not look at me once. Another customer from inside has to come outside to ask her for some service. She ends the conversation and goes inside. I look at the time. 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. I have had enough and take out a $20 and leave it on the table and walk off. As I leave she is running up to me screaming. I tell her I left her money on the table because she wasn't there to give me any service. Unfortunately did not have any spare change as I did not want to tip this absolute idiot. Hands down, in all locations I have eaten around the world, this is by far the worst service I have ever received. Absolutely shocked that this is allowed.

Went here recently with my wife. Drink menu was unique and definitely lived up to the name and crafty feel of the pub. The food did not disappoint either as both our meals were excellent. The service was great too. Will definitely be going back and recommending this place to all.

Staff were attentive. Saw me standing, waiting to be seated and informed me I could seat myself which was nice. I ordered the macaroni and cheese and had two drinks that were on special - spiced rum and coke. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. Nicely seasoned, very cheesey, and just reminded you of mum's home cooking. Perfect for a cold winters night like tonight. The drinks were absolutely fantastic too. Wait staff was friendly, nice and enthusiastic. I would give the food and drinks a 8/10 easily. My only complaint is the prices - they are on the higher side for pub food, but hey, at least the quality is there. Will definitely be coming back!

The music isn't too loud, so it's a great place to talk over drinks or catch up with people. Our waitress did a great job of keeping track of everyone's orders in our large group, even though we kept moving between different tables. Food was a bit on the expensive side, drinks were good though.

Outside terrace is nice for a beer to hang out with some friends. Conveniently right by Skytrain station to go to after a movie or something. Beer special prices were ok. However, I would not return again. Generally I like to have a bite to eat when I have a drink and the food menu is very small for options and super expensive for what you get. I was even more disappointed with the quality of food that arrived. The wings have too much breading that was soggy and made the taste unpleasant. Very small portion of wings, probably about $1.50 per wing based on amount that came. Other dishes including a salad was not impressive. Service was fine, server was always asking us if we wanted anything.

Drinks and food are pretty good. There's only one staff that looked like she was done for the day that almost didn't want to cater to a big group (she cleaned the table left by customers before us). The other staff that continued to serve us is pretty nice otherwise so we still felt valued afterwards.

I don't know, there's something really delightful about this little cozy snuck into a tidy nook beneath the train-station. It's dead quiet from the train, though. Staff are tops. Beer is really good - nice dark ones!

Their food is from the Old Spaghetti Factory next door. That's ok but server couldn't say if only one wing variety (hot) could be served on the side or not. Good thing it was! But wings were very fatty. Calamari was a small portion, very well done and rubbery. Stars for a great trivia night hostess and a very warm patio that welcomes dogs.

Service was pretty inattentive but extremely friendly. The patio was covered in flies. Some of the hot wings were great (spicy Thai), some were pretty uninspiring (sriracha honey lime). We weren't given or allowed a box to take away 4 leftover wings because they were on special, which we wish had been told to us when we ordered. I've personally only seen that policy with all-you-can-eat restaurants before, so it was surprising to hear it from this place. In the past the service has been atrocious so I was glad to see that the server was at least pleasant this time. Last time I came here the server refused to acknowledge that a PAL was a legitimate piece of government identification, and threatened to have my party thrown out when we (two long time liquor store employees and one foh restaurant manager) told her she was incorrect because we had no right to question her judgement. We even had other ID to back it up and offered it when she refused to accept the license, she was just angry about being wrong. Luckily it seems to have improved by bounds since then, but still not to a standard that makes me want to run back. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a simple bite near the station.

boyfriend and I checked it out cause our movie was full and had to do the show that's an hour later. we found this on my phone literally a few steps away from where we were searching. wanted something that isn't just pasta or sushi lol glad we tried. was cozy, not too much noise and the food was really good. I had a burger and my bf had fish and chips. we were very pleased. definitely will be our go to place now anytime we go to watch a movie. note this is coming from a girl who never goes to pubs, or bars. this place is a god send! lol

ABSOLUTELY THE WOST PUB IN TOWN ME AND MY BUDDY WENT TO THE BAR TO HAVE A COUPLE BEERS AND TALK . FROM THE START THE WAITRESS IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO GAVE ME ATTITITUDE AFTER I ASK IN POLITE TONE OF VOICE WHAT DO YOU HAVE ON TAP THEN SHE IGNORED ME MOST OF THE NIGHT THEN SHE DISRESPECTED ME BY CALLING ME A HOLE AND SAYING THAT A HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE. THE WHOLE NIGHT I WAS GAVING HER A POLITE RESPECTABLE TONE . VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NEVER GOT A TIP FROM ME. SHE NEED TO BE FIRED. Amusingly enough it's the best pub in New West! Extremely convenient location, very polite and professional stuff, good selection (and I mean it!) of beers and decent pub fare. The interior is cozy and patio in the summer is very nice. If you want to go to a pub in New West spare yourself a disappointment and go to this one. I can proudly say that I'm a regular here and really enjoying their daily beer specials - especially IPAs ;)

Was her for Super Bowl 49; New England vs defending champ Seattle SeaHawks game. The waitress was very patient with us and the kitchen accommodating. The have a variety of favours for the wings and I like spices. One the menu is a sriracha & honey. I asked if they can making straight sriracha and they did. So good! Although we did not sit outside they do have a covered, heated large patio making great for the weather we can experience here on the west coast. Definitely will be back.

It was slow, the staff weren't very friendly, the beer was pricey, the calamari was 14$ for an appi, the bar is small. I actually liked the smallness of the bar, the decor was very nice, the was good but simple. It was just very slow and our waitress wasn't interested in helping us and wasn't very friendly, but a blonde server super nice, the hostess was super friendly. So over all kind of a mixed bag, maybe it was just an off day for them.

This is a bias review because this is my neighborhood pub. Even though there are a few other pubs around my area. This has the best service, great selection of craft and regular beers. They always have specials (incluing a movie ticket discount). Their food is pretty good, I love their nachos which are packed with cheese in every bite; also try the wings (specially on Thursday when they're half off!). They have a lovely heated patio, which not many other pubs in the zone have.

A bit sketchy. But I enjoy that, it's authenticly "New West". I've been going here since it was called 57 Below, and before that when it was called Scruffy McGuires. I feel like it's grown up, and I've grown up with it. The "sketchiness" it a result of its location, which can't be helped by this business itself. Highlights are: Great beer selection on tap, and bottled. Regular beer rotations. Amazing liquor store attached. And that fire table on the patio!

Small cozy place with a friendly local community vibe. Drinks were fine. However I wouldn't order food here ever again. It took way too long to get my order, possibly 30-40 mins. Chicken sandwich was mediocre at best, fries about the same. Dish was overpriced, especially considering the end result. This may have been partially due to lack of staff. The poor woman was working by herself for far too long.

I found their choice of IPAs to be a bit weak, but after pandemic re-opening, they introduced Mariner IPA to the list, and it's a game-changer for me. Service is slow at times, mainly because the place is packed, and there's only one waitress, but it's bearable. We never went past appetizers, but I can tell that wings are good, and mozzarella triangles are nice when cheese stays inside, which doesn't happen always, and you get triangles with no cheese inside. Also, I'm not sure if it's a post-pandemic measure, but now the kitchen closes at 8 pm. For us, somehow missing the last kitchen call, it was the end of the night. One other thing that I really liked, which is not available anymore in COVID-19 reality for very obvious reasons, is that they used to have a popcorn machine where patrons could get a free popcorn – it's genius. I can't say that this pub is perfect, but they are trying to be so, and I can see why many locals like it. Give it a try.

Went to Hops before a canucks game tonight as we saw a sign in the front saying "on the way to the canucks game tonight? Stop here for a drink before and get a free shot"(no where on the sign did it say we have to have canucks jerseys or gear on).. so my boyfriend and I decided lets go get a drink instead of the liquor store next to it. Once we got inside I politely asked what shot was being offered..the bar tender than said only for people with canucks jerseys in front of all these other people at the bar and then a women proceeded to say dont you see the big sign in the front? This was very embarrassing and I think the situation could have been handled differently by the staff! Why not update your sign? I see other bars openly say must wear canucks jersey etc! I would never go there again... so instead we spent our money at the liquor store cause why would we have a drink at such an establishment.

Good Variety of beer on tap that changes weekly.. food is excellent with "express lunch specials " and Happy Hour specials as well.. staff are very friendly and with both indoor and outdoor seating the place is a great choice.. right on the transit lines and a taxi stand outside the door make it very convenient to leave the car at home.

UPDATE : WAS the best pub. Not so much anymore. On the hunt for something better. Service can be REALLY hit or miss. Owner/Manager tried to make up *terrible* service with gift card, but doesn't cover the charge for the dinner - not good enough to keep my business.

I was in for some food to eat and a drink as I have never been to this place before and i was willing give this place a try. I ordered a drink and the prices were good and reasonable ad there selections have some of my favorite brews. The service was good from the girl at the bar and offered me a menu for food and I looked and the prices were about average but some menu items weren't worth the price they were charging. I ordered a steak sandwich with Ceasar salad and I thought it was a good choice naturally as i love steak. When the meal came my world came apart. I was served a steak with bread and a small side of Ceasar. The steak was very simple and had no thought in dressing the sandwich at all. It felt like a simple cook who cooked the steak, seasoned it and slapped it on bread with some garlic butter. I would of St least expect some sauce and onions and mushrooms or some kind of veggie on it. It wasn't with the 17 dollars I paid for a plain steak sandwich. If I wanted that I could of cooked at home with slapping bread and steak. Also it wasn't filling for 17. The wings I ordered after was pretty good and that says it all. I dunno how the rest of entrees will be but will not eating there anymore except for a snack and drink. They are not up to par with the pricing of the entree given what I was given. Fill yourself up elsewhere if you don't want to walk out of there spending 80.

They are extremely pushy to get you out of the bar when they are soon to close. Don’t bother doing last call if you are just going to stand over your table and tell them to “chug” their beer. I work in the service industry and I have never seen or heard of this happening anywhere. last night was the third time it has happened. After the first time it I said I would never go back. The food here is way better than it should be for what is fundamentally a scummy dive bar. Beer selection is great, patio is nice provided you aren't concerned with people watching. They usually only have like one waitress on staff for the whole place so service can be spotty. Also there's a dedicated crowd of working men who hang out here so if you're looking for hipsters then it's the wrong place.

Very disappointed with customer service. Party of 8 walked out before we could even complete our orders. Waitress Rhea was extremely rude and obnoxious. Laughed at my mother's seafood allergy and rolled her eyes... when someone does not take a life threatening allergy seriously and laughs that is extremely rude and does not make me feel comfortable eating there. I hope one day she understands what it's like to live with a severe food allergy and pray her children never experience someone not taking a life threatening condition seriously. Rhea should not work in customer service with her terrible attitude.

Went there with fiends . A Waitress accidentally spilled a full glass of beer on my friend’s head. She (my friend) didn’t make a drama about that , even though she was completely soaked. When we were done , the waitress brought us bill and the only thing she did was deducted cost of one beer that she spilled over my fiend’s head. Honestly, After this performance I would expect more to be done. It was the worst experience ever . I hope manager can read it and react.

Sexist enforcement of liquor ID laws -- the server asked to see the ID of everyone except "the two gentleman with beards." One of those guys was the youngest person in our group (34!). The 37-year-old woman had just replaced her license and hadn't gotten a new one with the photo yet, and had left her passport at home as the evening plans hadn't originally included a liquor-primary establishment, so we all had to leave. If only she had a beard, we'd have been able to stay! Note - I'm not disputing that they should be checking IDs, or that they didn't have a right and/or obligation to do so -- I'm giving them a bad review because their enforcement was arbitrary, sexist, and discriminatory. Facial hair does NOT equal age of legal drinking!

Hops is the pub to go to when your with friends who like different things. One likes beer, one likes wine, another likes healthy food and one just wants a pub to be a pub. There's something for everyone at Hops. I've been there several times and they have always been accommodating.

Best Pub in Lower Mainland. With barely enough room to do a summersault from one end of the house to the other, low lighting, and very subdued music: this is THE place to get away from it all. Slink back in your chair, enjoy a beverage (or six), read the paper or chat with a friend... This the best place to get away from it all! It's better than a day at the spa. 12 out of 10 stars! I truely can not recommend this establishment enough.

Watered down coke and alcohol. Coke tasted like water with a bit of sugar while the drink tasted like juice with extra sugar. Dismissive staff when I tried to tell them. If you want a place to waste your money this is the place. Good thing their kitchen was closed too or that probably would've been a bad experience. Glad to know never to come here again for $15. Maybe you'll be fine if you get something from a bottle/can since they shouldn't be able to mess that up.

Amazing service! The bartender who works on Sunday's is so polite and delivered super fast service. Drinks were made well and the prices are very inexpensive. The pub is small but has a homie feel to it, seemed like there were lots of regulars enjoying the bar top as well. One downfall is the lack of food items, they do have popcorn if you want a snack though. It was my first time here and it wont be my last! Highly recommend!
