As a player it pains me to write this. I just returned from a week at the Algonquin resort and 6 rounds of golf at the course. I am a big believer in calling a spade a spade. For a top tier golf course I don't know if I've ever played on worse greens. I was told it was due to the poana and the August heat but regardless there is a fungus that makes them awful. They are blotchy with dead spots everywhere. It's like playing plinko on some of the worst greens. Being fair some are in better shape than others. I also believe the superintendent cuts the fairways too tight. Especially near the greens. There is literally no grass under the ball and it almost forces you to putt rather than pitch your ball. I am a 6 handicap and played with club members that are 100% in agreement with my comments. This will be fixed and the club will get 5☆ again but for early September it was not up to the standards that even they would expect their own course to have. I enjoyed the breathtaking views on the back nine and loved the course layout. The stay and play price was very reasonable. The overall experience was great. The course conditions are my only source for this review.

Course has a great layout with potential to be a great course. Also there's some spectacular views. However the course recently reopened from renovation and is not in acceptable condition given the green fee of $125. The course was recently re-sodded with the wrong grass (rough grass in fairways) that didn't take and is dead, leaving many fairways and spots on the greens dead. On one spectacular hole on the back nine a short par 3 next to the ocean. A collection area left of the green had been wiped out and is basically mud. Also the greens were exceptionally slow and hadn't been cut in a while. Given the condition of the course it should not have opened as it is a let down.

The only thing going for this golf course is its location overlooking the Passamaquoddy Bay. Amazing views on the back 9. The layout feels all over the place. The greens and fairway quality just doesn’t measure up to some of the better courses I’ve played yet is the most expensive. It has a confusing layout. soggy areas where water doesn’t drain, it’s not very challenging. Turf quality pales in comparison, their carts don’t have GPS, and they don’t even have trash cans on the course, and finally it’s very expensive... but it does have amazing views.

In summary, some really good aspects and some things were not so good. Staff were excellent. Location (views) fantastic. A few greens were in great condition but a few were poor. There were no distance markers and no rakes in the bunkers? This may have been an oversight as the course had just recently opened for the season? There was evidence of work going on around the course. We paid a reduced rate of $50 each for the 18 holes and I think that was too expensive for the condition of the course.

Wow. Just an amazing layout with beautiful views, and a great mix of holes. Play well, score well. If you're hitting good shots, you'll be rewarded, but if you're hitting it all over the yard, bring an extra dozen balls. The staff were amazing, and the pro shop is full of all sorts of good stuff. This one is a must play if you're in the area.

Played in mid July. The course is well laid out with some spectacular views. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The overall conditions on the course though keeps this golf course from rating anything other than 3 stars. The front nine felt much more playable and in much better condition. Unfortunately, the back nine was in pretty bad shape. Bare, dried out spots tee to greens. For the price, you'd expect much better. Finally, the lack of yardage books or even signs at tee boxes makes for a frustrating round for golfers playing here for the first time. Since it is associated with the Algonquin Resort, I do have high hopes that the problems with the golf course will be addressed as the resort is top notch.

This is a beautiful course, but the conditions were terrible (late June), especially for what they are charging. The front nine holes are good, but the back nine is what makes this place special. It's just too bad about the course conditions. I'm glad I played, but I wouldn't play it again until they improve the conditions.

Beautiful scenery, only difficulty is navigating blind shots. Need directional "Barber Posts" to give shooters a clue on direction to best shot to the green.

Fantastic golf course. Played the course yesterday with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable and the course itself was in incredible shape. The course features some of the most beautiful backdrops and scenery available.

Incredible...back nine is spectacular...we played it was hella windy but you have to expect that as it’s on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean..I found it hard to focus on my game throughout the back nine as I was just mesmerized by the picturesque scenery...

I played the course very late in the season and it was still in great shape. Some of the fairways can be tight but not unfair. The views from the course are excellent. If you are in the area it is a course you should play.

The quality of the course is below average and yet they charged an outrageous amount for the shape it's in. Mind you the location is remote and the view was pretty good. But I still felt it was a blow average course with inconsistent greens, patchy fairways and the bunkers were nothing special either

What a fantastic experience. The course has been remodeled, and the improvements are beautiful, allowing a view of the Passamaquoddy bay from every hole on the back nine! The course is in fantastic shape with beautifully manicured fairways, greens and tee boxes. Well worth the trip from anywhere!!
