The heck is a hibachi and why did the chef cook my meal? It was a cold day and the heater was on so I was too hot to be comfoertable I like it cold (you see) so I asked the server to turn off the heat and he said NO! Unbelievable and they would not let me pet the chef and take over so I threatened to leave and then they said I COULD GO AHEAS? Not coming hear again until tomorrow!!!

It should be no coincidence that I absolutely love Japanese food. Sushi ranks as one of my top favourite foods out there and it almost completely drained my wallet while I attended college on Vancouver Island, B.C. This time, however, I ordered Unagidon, which is barbecued eel ("Unagi" is the Japanese word for prepared Japanese freshwater eel) and which - along with Octopus - happens to be my two favourite seafood dishes. Yes, they beat Pacific salmon, clams, and scallops, but not by much. So you can excuse me for being quite partial when I rate this excellent restaurant. But, now, what is the Osaka Hibachi restaurant actually like? Well, first of all, it is elegant and upscale, and can be on the expensive side, as most if not all Japanese restaurants can and should be expected to be, upon considering how much skill and artistry goes into so many of these dishes. I mean, every dish you get is practically a work of art. And as tempted as you might be to preserve the memory by taking snapshots of every meal you receive, it would be like sitting in the front row of a concert and spending more time filming the performers on your smartphone than to listening to the music. And the Osaka Hibachi restaurant is no exception; every dish you order here will be a work of art so this should be appreciated as you enjoy the food. And it is not just visual, either. Ingredient combinations can have some very subtle significances in flavour as well. Seasonal ingredients are a good example because a well-made seasonal dish will actually "taste" like the season it represents. That was how I felt when I had the salad that accompanied my Unagidon dish. So the presentation was excellent. The drink I ordered was good, too. I'd never ordered an "Osaka-tini" before but I could tell it was well-made because nothing tasted out of balance. And of course I liked the flavour. As far as the atmosphere went, I was pleasantly surprised. There weren't any traditional low tables that I could see (where you sit kneeled on the floor) but I sat near the front neat a window so I couldn't see everything. That Japanese style could still be seen everywhere, though, complete with Nyan Cat statue at the front near the counter. And as I sat enjoying my meal, I believe I heard someone's birthday being celebrated with a gong. Now that is style. One thing I should inform readers about would be that since this restaurant does allow families with children, you may need to put up with the occasional crying baby. I did. And that can't be helped. Not only would it be bad for business, I have also found that Japanese people (or at least the Japanese people I've met and known) have a very hard time refusing or declining anyone. Consider it a cross-cultural experience that I hope never gets taken advantage of. And as for service, I actually had two waitresses attend me while both still looking quite busy (the second waitress came to my table only because she saw me waiting for something with no food in front of me). And they even offered to answer any questions I might have had. So the servers are very attentive. And the waiting time was not that long, either. On the night I was there, my mother, sister, nephew and brother-in-law were eating at the Pumphouse restaurant a block or so away. Now, it could have been the long lineup to get in that continued out the door and almost half a block away, but I left them standing in that line-up to go to this restaurant and when I was finished and met up with them afterward they were still eating. Maybe the fact that this was a Friday night had something to do with it, I dunno. Anyway, as you can see, my overall impression of the Osaka Hibachi restaurant were very positive. Though as I mentioned at the beginning of this review, my impression was very partial. Feel free to take it with a "Grain Of Salt" (pun intended) but if you are in Moncton, New Brunswick, and you love Japanese food - or even if you are looking for a new culinary experience - I highly recommend this restaurant. Worst service and worst food ever, it’s still too much give them 1 star. After I had a seat, I wait for 15 min to get somebody take my order. And wait for another half hour to get my main dishes, however they didn’t bring me anything to drink including water and beverages that I ordered. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp but every tiger shrimp contains a black long shrimp line which is the stomach of the shrimp as I know. Totally unacceptable and disgusting!!! The manager let me replace to beef teriyaki, and it took another half hour to wait. I spent almost one and half hour in this restaurant and didn’t get a cup of water which I requested for twice. There are at least 4 servers, and they just walking around take first order, take second order, and forget first order. By the way, I didn’t want to wait time, so I told them beef teriyaki was for to go, and I figured out they forgot to give me the chopsticks after I back to hotel. How I can eat it??

Took my partner here for his birthday in September and he still talks about it every day. We loved sitting at the grill and he says he had the best steak he's ever had. I had the tofu stir-fry and didn't like that they used the same tool on the vegetarian meal that they did on the meals with meat. For the price, they should be thinking about cross-contamination. Besides this, it was good.

We loved the experience of Hibachi by the grill. Our chef was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for more except for one thing. I can't believe at a Japanese restaurant and bar they had not one Japanese whiskey. As a whisk(e)y and knowing how trendy Japanese whiskeys are right now it's an absolute staple in every Japanese restaurant and bar. You really got to get with the times on this. We had the chef named John who was absolutely amazing, and made us laugh all night. Our waitress, Tammy however was nowhere to be found most of the night. I was waiting for my drink that she forgot to make for 45 minutes. She forgot our order of spring rolls and mentioned it once to another waitress, and another time when we were receiving the last part of our meal. When we said we didn't want the spring rolls after placing them to order over 1.5 hours ago as a starter, she seemed agitated that she had to take them off the bill, and said she could always take them home for leftovers. Multiple of us were empty on numerous occasions and she could not be found for long periods of time. She never came to check up and see if we needed drinks, we always had to search around for her.

Japanese places usually have quite a few vegan options, but it was somewhat lacking here. I did see a sushi boat come out for someone else that looked amazingly presented and professional. I was stuck ordering teriyaki tofu, which was not tasty. My partner ordered the teriyaki chicken which he absolutely loved and it arrived sizzling on a hot plate.

Fun place for an evening out. Great food and entertainment when seated at the grill. The chefs are full of personality! If you are brave enough to try the saki squirts, and you aren’t driving... wear something you don’t mind a little spillage on lol - great fun and apparently it warms you up quickly. My friends and I tried the salmon, steak and scallops that night... everyone was pleased with their choices. The food is plentiful! We ate half and took the other half home for the next day. It would be a great spot to bring guests for a different flair.

Always such amazing food here! I got my favorite rolls black dragon and Philadelphia and asked for spicy mayo to dip them in. Hubby got Japanese hot pot spicy squid and spicy tuna and spicy salmon. We got japchae noodles for the little ones and it was a large dish so we all had some.

After arriving on time, I was arranged to the three leftmost positions of the teppanyaki table, facing the barbecue table. The location of the restaurant has been assigned to another group of six guests. After communicating with the waiter and the Asian-faced manager for a long time, he was forced to arrange it in a location that he didn’t like. The barbecue chef performed well throughout the entire process but spoke French to another group of guests. The performances are given priority to coax the French-speaking guests, and then it is our turn. I've been to other sushi places in the area as I am from Moncton and found this one to be the worst. Firstly, the food was no where near as authentic as anyone would want their sushi to be. Also, the interior look and felt more like a steak house trying to look like a sushi place and lastly the service was just HORRIBLE! Our waitress made a mistake with our order which costed an extra 20$ that she didn't attempt to fix at all, not only with our table but with the TWO beside ours!! Definitely not worth the 55$ when my favourite place cost 14$ for a much better dinner and free ice cream!

Great entertainment and the food was incredible. Our meal began with miso soup and a citrus salad both were incredibly flavourful. My daughter and I both had the salmon and filet mignon while my husband had the steak with shrimp and scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection and the fried rice was amazing. They have however made the food a little more "Canadian" in its flavours so don't expect a real authentic Japanese taste. The fried rice was really tasty, the grilled veggies as well, karaage chicken a little dry and bland and the Sukiyaki tasted good, but it's not Sukiyaki. It honestly tasted like a slightly sweeter version of Korean Bulgoggi. Overall it's tasty food, fun ambiance for all, kind staff, but do not expect an authentic Japanese menu.

There are 2 sides to Osaka Hibachi, the regular sushi side and the Teppanyaki side. Our party sat on the regular sushi side and we ordered off an extensive menu that covered a range of authentic dishes. The food came quickly after being ordered (15 minutes for 7 people...impressive!!). The hot dishes were piping hot and the sushi, rolls and sashimi were well prepared. The price level is moderate and the restaurant has a great ambiance. The next time we go, we will book the Teppanyaki side (a party of 8 is recommended) to enjoy the show.

We had a disappointing start to dinner as we had reserved for 7pm and were not seated until 7:28pm. They told us to have a drink at the bar while we waited for the table but there was no room for 7 people so we ended up standing at the enterance waiting until we complained and were given a small side section to sit until the table was ready. They did try to make it up to us by providing comp drink each and two apps. The meal was great and the the chef was entertaining, in the end it was a fun dinner.

The food was very good, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I went there with a friend who has celiac disease, and the waitress could easily identify what was gluten free and what substitutions they had on the spot. The sushi was fresh and flavourful, and didn't take long to be prepared. The staff also gave you your space while still checking in when needed which is a tough balance to achieve.

Just had lunch wth my family and this is probably the most bad experience we had. This was at April 24th @3:30pm. At first, she gave our order wrong but we didnt tell her about it because they were kinda busy and we didnt want to rush her, we feel the same way too so we understand. We also asked her if she could take a picture of us but she looks upset. After we finished eating, we decided not give her a tip just cause we already paid for the wrong order but as soon as she looked at the receipt, she told us if the service was bad, but my dad said the food was fine and great to them, she walked out and came back and she insisted us that “ you can give me the service free/tip now”. So giving tip now in Moncton is mandatory? It just really bad.

Sweetness overload! My first time ordering and the food could have been very good, but every single dish was sweet, which was very disappointing. The beef teriyaki was sweet. The donburi was sweet. Even the soba noodle soup was sweet (and I would also recommend that the soba noodles be served in the broth to infuse, rather than receiving a clump of soba on the side that is hard to handle). Of course, when you then add the sweetness that normally comes with sauces for sides, it becomes very one dimensional for the palate and unpleasant. Having had ordered these dishes many times in other restaurants, I never expected everything to be sweet like this and strongly recommend this be changed.

Had a wonderful meal here last evening with the family! Very much enjoyed the meal. Amazing spring roll appetizer accompanied by an "on-the-house" server of dumplings, both came with a delicious dipping sauce. The main meal cooked by Freddie I believe the Head Chef's name was, was expertly prepared and very entertainingly cooked on the flat-top grill right in front of us. I had the calamari, chicken, and fried rice that were made with fresh ingredients cooked by an expert at his craft. Washed it all down with a couple servings of chilled Sake. The staff was amazingly friendly, accommodating, and personable. Great dinning environment aswell! Cannot come up with enough adjectives to describe how great my dinning experience was at Osaka Hibachi. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a night out. I have been here a few times and this most recent visit the service was extremely poor! First the server was angry for our party being short by 3 of 11. They brought us take out containers and appeared to be hurrying us out while we were still eating. Additionally we struggled to get our drinks and 3/4 of our bills were charged wrong. When I shared this feedback with the waitress she seemed disinterested and said, "Yeah, yeah I get it, it get it. Thanks for the feedback". (accompanied by an eye roll) I don't think I would return based on how surprisingly awful the service was.

We decided to go with the tepenyaki grill. We got the seafood imperial and Moncton samurai with fried rice. The fried rice and grilled veggies were really good. Shrimp was good, chicken was ok, scallops were good, lobster was ok, calamari was disappointing, and beef was amazing. You get a lot of food so we had to take a container home. I would come back again and get the beef. The overall experience was amazing. The chef did a good job of entertaining while cooking. It is a bit too expensive but overall would recommend a try.

We stopped at Osaka Hibachi while travelling through Moncton. We opted to do teppanyaki, and enjoyed a wonderful show from our chef, a Balinese man who was relatively new to the place. His energy in cooking for us really made the meal enjoyable. We had a chicken, a filet and scallops, a filet and calamari, and a filet, lobster, and shrimp meal, all with fried rice. Every one of the meals was executed well, and tasty. Our dishes ranged int the $30 to $40 range.

My boyfriend and I were visiting New Brunswick for our anniversary weekend and were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful location. We were welcomed with a cheerful "irasshaimase ('welcome' in Japanese) by multiple staff upon entering. We had the same waitress both times we went over the weekend and she was excellent. The cocktails we ordered were delicious, and the food was expertly prepared. Portion sizes were a good value for the price. My boyfriend got the Osaka Steak both times we went and it was cooked just as he requested it, with beautiful grill marks and a tasty teriyaki sauce. He asked for no veggies the first time and our waitress remembered his order the second time we went! They certainly didn't skimp on quality as our food was all delicious. I also loved the decor -- modern with Asian influence, nice windows looking out at the city, comfy booths. Music to set the mood. The sushi chefs here really pay attention to the small details. So many times I have been to restaurants where they add more rice than necessary to their sushi to fill you up on rice. The ratio of rice to fish here is perfect, and they chop the pickled ginger up into little slivers much easier to eat than the usual large pieces. A very small detail to be sure but much appreciated! If we are ever back in this neck of the woods we will be sure to stop by again. 5/5 would recommend!

Great spot! Food was delicious in every way. We ordered the Baked Sunday Roll, and it was by far my favorite. Besides having to wait to take our order (might of been because we were the only people sitting outside, they forgot maybe?) I'd recommend it. The interior is very nice as well and they are very welcoming to costumers walking in.

What disappointed me the most in addition to the ordinary dish is the service completely absent. We waited almost half an hour to pay and besides we could have left without paying anything. I waited on the edge of the door for her to finally understand that I wanted to leave and I could not see him anywhere. It was another employee who asked me what I was expecting who made me pay. I do not speak throughout the meal how long it was before seeing the waitress. (Original) J’ai mangé du côté salle à manger sur le bord des fenêtres. Je n’ai pas pris de sushi mais un plat de nouilles Japonaises avec poulet qui n’avais rien de mieux que dans un petit teriaky de centre commercial. Se qui m’a le plus déçu en plus du plat ordinaire est le service complètement absent. On a attendu presque une demi heure pour payer et sans compter qu’on aurait pu partir sans rien payer. J’ai attendu sur le bord de la porte pour qu’elle finisse par comprendre que je voulais partir et je ne le voyais nulle part. C’est un autre employé qui m’a demandé se que j’attendais qui m’a fait payer. Je ne parle pas tout au long du repas comment c’était long avant de voir la serveuse.

This place has the worst service consistently. It is always impossible to order a second drink. Your server is never around. Ate there last night for father's day and will never be back. You shouldn't have to order a beverage 3x before your server remembers to bring it. Terribly run establishment. Food is good if you don't mind awful service.

We were a group of 5 and a baby. We were able to sit in one of the side rooms which gave us some privacy from the other patrons. We had the spring rolls to start off. Very good enjoyable. Myself, I ordered the beef Umm set bento box. My wife ordered the chicken stir fry with upon and California roll maki. (also got a lesson on the difference between sushi, maki and sashimi) Other group members ordered the hot pot, chicken and vegetables. Assortment of smaller items and another beef Umm set bento box. Everyone enjoyed the food they ordered, the only 'complaint' is not knowing what to order when one isn't sure they will enjoy Japanese food. Might be back to try the other side of the restaurant. Visited August 2015

Sushi is good, but we ordered Volcano roll and it was dry and tasted not that great. Sent it back for a different roll. Servers comes back, owner will take that off the bill and I have to take it home!!! No. I do not eat food that does taste good and it costs almost $18. The server was great, and the rest of food tastes good. I recommend the baked spicy scallop roll

As soon as you walk in you're greeted in Japanese and it makes it feel very welcoming and outs you in a great atmosphere to enjoy a meal. We had the sashimi boat and tonkatsu, and it was very delicious. The prices were great for the quality of the food, so if you like or have interest in trying Japanese food I'd really recommend it.

I absolutely love the the lobster tempura! Best thing I've tasted in Canada! You have to come here and order it! I've eaten at many Japanese/sushi restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area and none of them have lobster tempura on their menu. The tempura is so perfectly crunchy and not bready like other places. I can honestly say that it is the best tempura I've ever had!

Ordered for pick up, they told me 30mins, I got there 50mins later and had to wait an additional 20mins. The sushis were very average. Their osaka sushi roll was absolutely drenched in garlic sauce. Expensive and not worth it.

I really enjoyed the chef. He was hilarious, excellent and a true joy to watch. Food was fantastic. On the downside, two waitresses assigned to our table and service was horrendous. Had to ask for drinks three times, order was incorrect for one of us with gluten allergy. Wanted dessert but waitress was already at the table with bills and pay machine before we were even done eating. So experience with the wait staff serously put a damper on the entire experience. For the price paid $$$ you would expect the waitress to check in with clients at least once during the meal.

horrible experience， we drove 200km (4 hours) to try their teppanyaki, we phoned them three times telling them we would like to book the teppanyaki service, however when we came there, we were informed that we did not book that, for the spicy Squad is horrible, we waited for NEARLY ONE AND A HALF HOURS, the taste is horrible as well, only mixed with spicy Korean sauce that I can make it easily at home. Overall the worst experience

This is great for a one time thing. You need a group of people and it's quite the expense but the experience is very worth while. The food is great, the show that's performed is great and over all had a great time. I wouldn't recommend if you are tight on money or are going on a date with two people it's not worth the money spent.

This is by far the best restaurant in town, awesome food and awesome presentation at the Teppanyaki Grill, the chefs are awesome. Every time I go I take their Filet Mignon & Chicken with Fried Rice. They start you with miso soup & salad, then you have fresh grilled vegetables after that they give you steamed rice or Fried Rice, then your meat selection comes after. The chef do an amazing show while they prepare your meal and often engage the crowd at the table. My meal + soft drink and decent tip usually comes to $65-$70 / person but it is worth it, I’d say it is the best restaurant in town, you get a decent amount of food and presentation awesome. I recommend going with a group of 10-12 that way you can have a full table and also make sure to always reserve if you want to be on the grill side which I recommend. I highly recommend taking the Filet Mignon & your selection of another meat, and also to take fried rice instead of steamed rice.

Very poor service, waitress made a mistake on our order and when we pointed it out she refused to help even though we made it known to her that we did not order the meal but she was very clear that is was not her problem, on top of that the waitress was never around and the food did not even come close to any other sushi restaurant in the area and is somehow twice the price, the rice was dry and bland, the California maki was poorly crafted, it did not feel authentic and with restaurants like pink sushi right next door and quarter the price I see no point in wasting your money on this sub par dining experience

Best sushi that I’ve ever had. The fish quality is so good that I could feel like it’s melting in my mouth. The rice in the hand roll is perfect. Well cooked and season. Service was really good too. The staffs were really friend. They welcomed us as soon as we walk into the restaurant. If I come back to Moncton, I would definitely come here again! Highly recommend for sushi lovers!! We ordered salmon avocado hand rolls and sweet potato (yam) hand rolls also a sashimi dinner combo ❤️

We also were surprised by a waitress who told us "go to bar finish your wine there" after finishing our meal with a group of 9 barely had time to finish our drinks and we got shooshed away from our seats...very unprofessional to say the least especially since our group had just spent close to $800. wont be going back for a long time and definately wont be recommending it.

I've been here several times and loved it every time. The chefs are very entertaining, and the food is delicious. It is best to make a reservation with a group, BUT not 100% necessary, as I've gone a few times with just two people, and just sat with another group who had space (which was fun, good to meet people). Everyone should try this place at least once if you're in Moncton - it's a little pricey, but in my opinion the price is quite reasonable for the food + entertainment.

I am utterly disgusted with the actions of the waiter from this restaurant. My wife was shamed in front of her entire work group and was told if she didn't pay for her own meal at the grill she had to leave or pay a $25 dollar sitting fee. She was going to split something with a co worker, but apperently that is not allowed. VERY DISRESPECTFUL I will be making sure EVERYONE knows about this.
