The Library lounge is located within the Hume Hotel. If you were looking for a place to drink a glass of wine or a pint of beer, I would head on down to the Library lounge. In there you get to experience the original hardwood flooring of the Heritage building and you may also be surprised with some live jazz music. Food menu is good and staff are very nice.

The service here was quite enjoyable, but the drinks... not so much. Our lemon drop martini we ordered was missing something, and our Paloma seemed a bit off as well. Maybe just an off night.

Extremely large menu with plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options. Staff are very friendly and accommodating to dietary restrictions. You may have to wait a while for your food as the kitchen services the different restaurants simultaneously. Thin crust pizza contains the same amount of cheese as the deep dish so certainty not authentic or appropriate for those with even the slightest sensitivity to dairy.

Nice heritage lounge with small, shady patio (where we sat). I really loved the gluten free capicolla pizza, single was enough appie for four light eaters. The chai lemonade spike with gold tequila was refreshing and original. Just lovely place.

Planned a ski trip to Nelson for our Valentine’s Day. Booked a reservation with the library at the Hume. Even had a nice conversation with the lady who booked our reservation about the live music that was playing. Showed up for our reservation and they moved us into the restaurant. The restaurant is very casual. Not at all what we booked. We were dressed for a nice dinner so we said no thanks and left. The staff were actually kind of rude. We ended up having a wonderful meal with fantastic service else where. So we couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

One of my family's favorite places to go over the years for a great one-on-one chat. Local lounge musicians are often playing in the evening and comfortable seats. The fireplace is so cozy in the winter and the menu is great.

Beautiful little restaurant, with antique/vintage decor. The atmosphere was perfect for a date, or an evening chatting with friends. The food was excellent, as was the service. Lots of excellent vegetarian options, I had the mushroom ravioli and would highly recommend it.

Cutest little old heritage hotel bar I've been to in many years. Great service, lots of history, unique (try the Okonomiyaki 'Tokyo' fries) and delicious (when was the last time you felt you got enough black olives and feta on your Greek salad?) food - even live guitar. In my humble opinion Anthony Bourdain would have appreciated this place very much (and Nelson as well for that matter). I will absolutely come here whenever I'm in the area, love love loved it!

The Hume is a very nice hotel in Nelson from my experiances at Mike's Pub, The Library, and the western themed bar. I only briefly visited The Library for a poutine. It was nearly $11 for a single portion. The staff were nice and even gave me a break when I was short 50 cents for the poutine. I think this is the only restaurant in Nelson that serves a classic style poutine with fries, gravy, and cheese curds. I came here after being dissapointed that the dinner on baker street only served variations on the classic style poutine without gravey*. Come to The Library if you like a normal poutine with a fair portion size but a sort of high price. Beautiful Atmosphere.

Took a short break from camping at nearby Kokanee Creek Provincial Park. The Angry Bee Pizza was excellent (thick and cheesy with unique flavours). My wife enjoyed Black Truffle Sacchetti and Chile Like Brussels sprouts and all were Amazing. Only down side is we sat outside and the road noise was a bit much with mid summer traffic.

Very historical stop to Nelson. Classy lounge environment with fine wines and spirits . Sometimes they have small music venues. The crown of this jewel is the bar countertops itself is the original from the 1800's. Beautiful!!

Would go back here tomorrow if I could. Incredible burger and soup combo with friendly service. Decided to come here after seeing great reviews and it lived up to expectations. Nice little fireplace too. Only downside was the refurbishment work being done which was noisy. That's no reason to give less than 5 stars though.

We had the ‘Chicken Cordon Bleu’ and the ‘8oz Filet Mignon’. It was served beautifully and perfectly cooked. Paired well with the available wines. We also had cocktails and sangria. Their drink menu is great. It was our honeymoon meal, and even though they didn’t do anything special for us, we still had a perfect meal with great ambiance and atmosphere. We would go back and definitely recommend as a safe option for those visiting Nelson. The food is going to be good!

Beautiful inside atmosphere inside Hume Hotel. Gorgeous vintage and antique furnishings. Vegan and vegetarian options clearly labelled on menu! The vegan bowl was so delicious! My friend ordered a vegetarian mushroom ravioli. Highly recommended - right off main Baker St in Nelson.

Great service and consistent pub food. Stay with the classics, like any burgers or the homemade borscht. Only order the Asian stir fry if you like sugary sauce. Desserts are scrumptious.

Had lunch and dessert at the Library Lounge, and was incredible impressed with both. The sandwich and soup of the day were flavorful, and a generous portion size. The dessert was excellent! Homemade Jack Daniel's pecan pie with ice cream cannot be recommended enough.

Four of us had bloody Mary`s, we were all convinced were tomato juice on ice devoid of anything else including alcohol. We mentioned this to the waitress and she insisted (rather rudely) that there was alcohol in the drink and walked. A couple next to us heard us talking and mentioned they felt the same way and also made a comment to her, as with us she did nothing. Oh, his drink was a double, guess here that means they passed the bottle over the drink twice. If you drink here either order beer, wine or order your booze seperate.

The mains were pretty good. The calamari is strongly to be avoided. Live music was really awesome but we were turned off that our server would walk away while she was talking...not close to friendly - the bartender picked up where she couldn't.

My goodness I'm on work trip in Nelson found this place online. What a gem. Borscht was amazing cocktails and wine list super! My dinner was steak done nicely with a stunning mushroom jack Daniels sauce. Worth the trip to Nelson

Fried calamari were overcooked and there was very little calamari meat with mainly bread crumbs. Was there one year ago for the first time and food seemed to be better back then compare to this time.

The Library Lounge was dimly lit with a warm and inviting atmosphere. My wife had the Empress 75 (Canadian version of the French 75) and I had a couple of Moscow Mules. Both drinks were very good. Our waitress was polite and attentive. We'll go back next time we're in Nelson, BC

It was unfortunate that my family and I chose to eat here this morning. The burger buns were soggy and not brioche as they were supposed to be. The toppings were, well I don't know what they were, only what they were supposed to be. The avocado smash was clearly prepared long before being thinly spread on the unflavored and dry sourdough, and the steak was charred and overcooked. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is that it's not the worst thing I've ever eaten.
