We may still be in a pandemic but this has been the best evening I've had in months. I had never been here before but the staff were so kind (they gave great food and game recommendations!!), there was good selection of delicious food, lots of games to choose from, and even though I was feeling weird about going out for once I felt safe in their establishment.

Just had an awesome night at the new Raving Gamer Bistro in Langley! Food was fab, I am absolutely stuffed! Had a lot of fun playing Frustration while we waited for our food. The atmosphere was friendly, accommodating, relaxed and lively all at the same time. There were tons of games to choose from and you can join others for some friendly competition and banter. I consider myself a bit of a “foodie” and was looking for a place to get a good burger. I was provided with the name of this place. I was warmly greeted and sat down and ordered the Buffalo Burger. While I waited I was engaged by the owner about their restaurant and other pleasantries. Then the burger came. This was easily one of the best 3 burgers I have eaten in my life. Perfectly seasoned meat, great bacon, tasty cheese, in house made Russian Sauce and the freshest, most flavorful veg. All layered into a perfect sized bun for the burger. Truly a dynamic flavor explosion. I do not live around here. But I will be back. Those of you that do live I the area, take advantage!

Outstanding service; catered to our group of 12 frequently and quickly throughout our 3.5-hour stay. Helpful recommending/choosing games. Super friendly. A mistake was made with our reservation and they rectified it ASAP. Space is bigger than it looks. Great atmosphere! Love that we could’ve booked a private room too (maybe next time) Game selection is quite good. Games for purchase is exceptional for a cafe; a wide range and very up to date. Food was, sadly, just okay (tho I really like the place so wish I could say better) Beer selection is limited but a good variety. Most of my group were just okay with their food (fries were soggy, squid and mushrooms were both small and simple, cookies were over baked) Neighbouring table did burgers tho, and those looked legit. Suggest they need more salty munchies and finger foods! Will certainly be back, I will say! Updated Aug2019: the food is incredible, they’ve made some improvements! Beer selection is not huge but something for everyone, staff is very pleasant, food if very well priced for what you get. I went three times in one week with various families and friends!

Came here today for the first time around 7pm with 3 others. It was an amazing experience. We used to go to other boardgame food places in new west or downtown, but now that we found this place, it's most likely going to be our go-to boardgame/dinner place! The food selection is great (pizza, burgers, steak, grilled cheese, just to name a few), serves alcohol and also has a bar. The food were delicious and the waiter was incredibly accommodating and super funny. Lots of boardgame selections and the atmosphere is lively. Great location if you're anywhere on this side of the bridge. Worth the drive to try it out if you're farther out, because this might just become your favourite place. Highly recommend.

The Raving Gamer stands out because of their huge selection of games and amazing food. Better food than I’ve had at any other board game cafe - good enough to be served in any stand alone restaurant. The brisket and ‘adult’ mac ‘n’ cheese are favourites, but I’ve never had a meal there I didn’t like. Highly recommend also picking up a jar of smoked olives on your way out if you don’t try them in the restaurant.

Really nice and unique setup: boardgames and food. They have booths and small/large tables to cater to different group sizes. The boardgames selection is quite nice, have games for kids/preschool, family and friends. We came here for their brunch menu. The bowls are a bit small portion so it's not filling. No free drinks refill unfortunately. 2 hour sitting time limit. 2 games limit.

These guys absolutely know their stuff when it comes to good games and good food. Whether it's a family meal out, a birthday party, a drink or coffee with a friend... we always end up here! Love everything we have tried on the menu (although it's hard to deviate from the water buffalo burger with double smoked bacon). Another major appeal: eating here with babies/ kids is so easy! The food (recommend the grilled cheese) is delicious, the kids are entertained by a great selection of games and toys (which are sanitized after every use), and the staff have always gone out of their way to make our little ones feel welcome. Lastly we've found that the new games available in the retail section are very competitively priced and we opt to buy games here as opposed to online.

The Raving Gamer offers up a lot. The food is fantastic - a solid, traditional DIY burger and amazing fries anchor the menu, but don't miss the creative options like the smoked olives. Hipsters will appreciate the attention to locally sourcing a large portion of the menu. And of course the games: options are plentiful from the classic get-together games like Catan, to kid-friendly options like Candyland and Connect-4. This restaurant brings refreshing familiarity of Vancouver into the Cloverdale/Langley City area - and frankly, it's long overdue. Service is great, staff is friendly, and the chef/owner is clearly following a passionate vision for what is going on your plate. I've already booked reservations for next week.

Let's start off by saying the food is great. If this were just a regular restaurant I would come here just for the food. The kitchen staff have an impressive resume with lots of experience in the food industry. Each of the mains we ordered was excellent. Now add in a great selection of board games for you to enjoy while you wait for you food and when you're done your meal. The staff do not try to push you out or make you feel pressured to leave once the food is done. If you're paying a new game, like my party did, a staff member can help explain the rules. I rarely write serious reviews but this is truly a 5 star establishment owned and operated by a local family that takes great pride in it.

The food was all really tasty and the portions were plentiful. Having the section where you could buy board games you enjoyed is a nice little extra that really made the visit. A lot of people ask me where I go to eat for dinner, and after eating here I will be recommending these guys. The beer was excellent and the Buffalo burger was killer and have to give shout out to the crispy and tender calamari. Great selection of games to enjoy with your meal and drink and very nice and suttle decor. I highly recommend you give them a try. The owners as a side note are also very kind and accommodating to us and our 2 children. Chef Ken knows his stuff!!!!

Outstanding grilled cheese sandwich. I was expecting one sandwich. There was 4!!! The bread was amazing and flavourful and the cheese was the exact right place between melty and toothy. Plus there was a good amount of those extra cheesy bits around the outside of the bread that we all know to be the best part of any grilled sandwich. So happy and full.

This was an incredible experience, we went for the boardgames but it was WAY more than just that, good boardgame selection, the food was so freaking good and affordable, the drinks were amazing and the tables were the perfect size, enough room to sit comfortably, have your food AND boardgame out at the same time. Although we’ve never dinned in, The Raving Gamer is a great choice for food and board games. Whenever we grab take out we make it a point to put it with a game for a fantastic date night. The burgers on the menu are phenomenal and their bird game section has a little bit of everything. It’s been a great stop over the last couple years during the pandemic and I look forward to being able to visit in person.

Went in for the first time, Host was friendly at door sat us quickly and went through Covid protocol for their restaurant. Family favourites are the three’s Company grilled cheese with either a smoked tomato soup or green salad combo, the mac ‘n’ cheese, and hot honey chicken sandwich. I love this place. My fiancée and I come here all the time. The space is warm, the tables are big enough to eat at and actually spread out a game and have a good time. The food is awesome! Butta-shoyu fries are great and the burgers are some of the best I've ever had. Even if you're not a gamer, the food is definitely worth the trip. If you're new to games and don't know what to try, the staff are super friendly and helpful. They will make suggestions to find a game you'll enjoy from their excellent selection. Oh, and if you like the game enough, you can buy one from their store! Just go already!

Just heard about this place today do we gave it a shot. Had a great time and food was top notch. Had the mushroom soup that is right on par with the scratch made mushroom soup my mom makes, and i consider moms to be it's own food group. Buffalo burger and fries were AWESOME! Nice smoky flavour and I didnt want to put it down. Oh, and the milkshakes...... drool worthy! All while playing an game of yahtzee lol..lots of neat games to play and even buy if you like them. Staff was super friendly too. Without a doubt I will be back

The food is pretty pricey for what you get, it cost me $40 for one person getting an appie to share with my friend, an entree and a dessert (also shared with my friend) The atmosphere was nice, the decor was tasteful, and they had a decent selection of games, but the staff seemed distracted and weren't really attentive enough. Overall, I'll probably go back, but maybe not right away.

Absolutely fantastic place to go eat AND get a board game in. The staff is friendly and personal and will gladly give advice on a game to play. The game selection is amazing with more being added daily for all ages and group sizes. The food is also delicious and fresh. I had the crispy squid which was still tender and juicy. The mussels and fries were on par with much fancier places in town, but not at the same price and i didn't need to dress up or anything! You can also purchase the games you play, and it's great for families

Raving Gamer is a really fun place to hang with friends, eat food and learn a new game. I hope they never lose focus on what makes them unique which is getting you quickly set up with a game and make sure you know enough rules to get going. As long as when new people get hired they are knowledgeable about the games and don't get caught up being to busy. Focus on the basics, making sure everyone has fun playing the games, food is tasty and beers are cold.

The kids loved their macaroni and cheese, and my Buffalo burger was excellent. Fries were perfectly seasoned and the Chipotle mayo was a perfect accompaniment. When I arrived, the staff were helpful and I was in and out shortly after!

Good food. Our group enjoyed four seperate items which were all delicious and reasonably priced. Nice place to spend a few hours with friends over dinner and games. The staff was excellent, and were able to come by and explain a game to us, which allowed us to take in twice as many games. Perused the game purchase area afterwards which is well organized and displayed nicely. In all a lovely evening and ready to recommend to others. Well done!

Fries are very salty, great with beer. Not so great without. Over all great food and drinks! Very hardworking staff. Lots of free parking. This is a great place for a fun night out. All the staff are super friendly, menu choices are great for this type of venue and ingredients are locally sourced. The beer selection is decent. Their milkshakes are fantastic, albeit a little small and pricey for what you get. Really nice selection of boardgames that will interest pretty much any type of person or mood you're in. Pretty much everyone was enjoying themselves, lots of people, the private room had a group birthday party having fun. Very entertaining place to enjoy company with family and friends.

What a great place! Our group came here with a few differently abled people, and found games for everyone! The wait staff, hostess, and owner were above and beyond kind, understanding, and helpful. Tuesday mornings are quiet they said, so it's a good time to come if you have friends or family members who get sensory overload easily. We went today (Tuesday morning) and it was just perfect for our group! I forgot to look and see if there is a handy cap switch for the door, but they're so helpful I know they'd open the door for you. Can't wait to go back!

Before I get into our dining experience, I want to point out that half the restaurant is a boardgame store. I love collecting boardgames and was pleasantly surprised at their prices, definitely better than a lot of other brick and mortar stores. People should keep this place in mind for their next boardgame shopping trip. One small critique/suggestion is that they might have devoted too much space to the new boardgames. They're all laid out so prettily and can probably be condensed with the same diversity of inventory. The only reason why this came to mind is because they can probably use more tables. However, perhaps they don't have a large enough kitchen and staff to serve more people during their peak times. In terms of why we came all the way out from Vancouver, well, there aren't many good boardgame restaurants so my partner and friends wanted to check this place out. The restaurant was clean and comfortable and seems to be popular during this Friday evening (they take reservations so I suggest calling in beforehand). I ordered a chicken burger with added cheddar and it came with (slightly spicy) fries. It tasted good and I was impressed that the burger "patty" was an intact piece of real chicken, rather than processed. However, the thing I really loved was the "milk and cookies" dessert, something I wouldn't normally order at a restaurant but glad I did. The (two) homebaked chocolate chip cookies had the perfect ratio of slightly crispy exterior and chewy interior. They were hot and the chocolate was gooey...just perfect with the glass of milk. Was definitely tempted to order a second but was already stuffed. I'm a little embarrassed to admit I'm still thinking about them hours after leaving the restaurant, haha. The game selection was great and the staff was friendly and helpful in teaching us the basics of the game we played. I am looking forward to another visit to the Raving Gamer! It was a long-ish drive from Vancouver but it was worth it.

Awesome! Very friendly, staff walked us through any game we didn't know. Selection is probably really good, though I don't know enough board games to say for sure. The fries are good, and also 3 pounds is a lot of fries. Even two pounds was a lot of fries, between three people there was still leftovers. The butternut squash soup is a surprisingly large serving for only 6 bucks. Around 1 on a Sunday it was super busy, but around 3 or 4 it quieted down nicely and there were some open tables. We stayed there a pretty long time and never felt rushed out, very comfortable space. I'll definitely be back again.

This is similar to the board game cafe that I visited in Edmonton. Its a nice little area with boardgames to play, drinks to drink and food to eat. The food and drinks were not too shabby, but a tad on the pricier end. There are lots of games to choose from. 1-2 players to many players. This includes pvp and cooperatives. You can also choose to buy the games as well. Unlike the Edmonton version, not all staff were versed on the games. They were friendly enough and tried their best but it fell a little short. Still would recommend to check it out and spend some time here as its fun!

We had a fantastic family night last Friday. The games selection to play while you eat is outstanding - some top notch options. I was overly impressed that they had toys for our 2 year old to play with AND they asked us to keep whatever he touched out so that they could sanitize it afterwards! The restaurant was warm and inviting, family friendly, impeccably clean and fantastic staff. The game options to buy is immense, neatly laid out and easy to find. The game prices are cheaper than other stores as well. The taco chicken pizza was OUTSTANDING. We definitely will be back as a family, and as couples night out.

It fills up quick and because of the nature of board games people stay a long time so you Must make reservation. I'd love to see more seating and less shelving for game sales. It's a great idea but if people can't come in they won't make enough cash to survive

HUGE range of games, and the staff have played almost every game, so they can walk you through what ever game you pick. Lots of just released games so you will find something there you haven't played before. They also have the oldies like battle ship for that nostalgic feeling. I have ordered from here a number of times and it has always been so, so good. The Water Buffalo Burger is insanely yummy. Lean and high protein burger that has tons of yummy extras? Um, yes please! This place is in the middle of an industrial area but is the perfect place to make your next destination. They are quite welcoming and literally have every board and card game under the sun! They always take the time to explain their games to you so that you can enjoy something new. It is the perfect place to spend time with friends and family and also try new games before you buy them. What you may not know about this place is that it serves killer milkshakes!!! The strawberry chocolate was amazing with real ice cream and whipped cream on top!! The straw is thick enough to drink it easily. It goes down sooooo easily! The fizzy lemonade is great too. They have many delicious snack sized foods with healthy options too. I want to go back!

Great place with wonderful games and food. The overall service sours the mood and really limits its potential. We first sat down and they offered the option of a qr code menu or a physical one and we chose the qr code because it was easier. We tried it with both our phones and it was down, but our waitress didn't show up for a while so we had to ask the front for the physical menu. We also had to wait a long time for our waitress to take our order so we didn't get a game till she took our order. The game curation and advice was pretty lackluster compared to when the older man is around. The guy had a lack of understanding of most of the games and was not very informative on the games available. We ended up googling information about the games ourselves. After all the initial fuss, which took up some time, the manager came to tell us we were nearing our 2 hour sit time. This was fine if the place was busy and we were holding up a table, but there were 2-3 several tables empty without any reservation sign or anything. With the initial wait of the menus and waitress, we barely got to use our time efficiently with the games. We been here dozens of times, but I feel like the service is a shadow of its former self. It's hard to say if I'll drive an hour just to come here again.

We've had food from the Raving Gamer throughout the last year of the pandemic in various capacities - takeout and via their catering/pizza program at wineries and breweries. Loved them first for their pizza (some of the best in Langley), then we tried their butta-shoyu seasoned french fries, and found our favourite fries in Langley too. The food at this bistro is awesome, definitely next level for a board game restaurant and they partner and collaborate with so many local companies. We had the pleasure of dining in today, finally, and were treated to amazing service and a comfy, cozy atmosphere. This is the best thing to do on a rainy day, and we're so lucky to have a place like this in Langley. I can't believe there aren't more board game cafés around, but it looks like we've got the best of the best in our neighbourhood. They have a great selection of games to play and a cool retail section. This might be our new favourite hang out post covid restrictions!
