We have all the reviews of real people like you who used the services of The Ridge at Manitou Golf Club (Night Club) in the territory of Kirkland Lake (Canada).
Now this firm gets a rating of 4.2 out of 5 and this score has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings that it reaches is quite high, and it is based on a very large number of reviews, so we may say that the valuation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are satisfied with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set opinions when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Night Club corresponds to the category of Golf course.
We have been golfing at the Ridge at Manitou for years and happily travel 2.5 hours there and home to play. Two years ago the course was sold and is now under new ownership. We were happy to see this gem stay open but there have been some blunders. Last year they did not file their liquor license so we could not enjoy a beverage other than “near beer”. This year they have let their course go to weathered shambles despite the fact that golf has had a resurgence due to COVID-19. I realize that all courses are struggling with skeleton staff, but with a 10% unemployment rate you’d think they could find someone to work a beverage cart. The only person we saw was a very rude grounds crew member that threatened one of the golfers in our group that he would take away his golf cart key for driving on the fairway. A simple reminder to my forgetful friend would have sufficed, after all you are in the service business. Unhappy guests do not return and that’s not a good business model. With the recent miscues, regretfully I don’t think we will be back. Hope the owner can turn this ship around because as many have said the bones are good but are on life support.
Great northern course, lots of hills and rock, beautiful views, great food on the patio overlooking the lake, boat access too
Love
Awesome track
We played the Ridge at Manitou on Sunday September 7th and as much as we were looking forward to playing there, we soon became very disenchanted and have vowed never to return. You ask why - well the staff were somewhat uppity and the Club's physically handicaped golfer's policy was non-existent. At the first hole, I asked the starter for a blue flag which on every other course I've played in Canada and internationally signifies the golfer is physically handicapped and can therefore ride on the fairway and in the rough close to the greens to accommodate their physical limitations. At no time did the starter indicate the handicap policy of the course. When on the green at the first hole, I was admonished by the starter for having the cart in the rough around the green. When asked what exactly the blue flag was for, he indicated I could only go on the fairway but never beyond the cart signs. The problem is that some of the cart signs are 125 yards or more from the green and on top of that most of the greens are elevated and in some cases steeply. So my question is why does the course bother with a blue flag for physically handicapped golfers when in fact there is no advantage to having a blue flag? Our advice to golfers who are physically handicapped, stay away from this course. One other thing, the wait staff could use some training. When the young lady came to our outside table to take our order, I not only had to ask her to wipe down the table before setting the menu before us (previous occupant had spilled a drink) but also had to ask her to take away the ashtray filled with cigarette and cigar butts. Not too appetizing to say the least.
Terrible flow - so slow and over booked. Ordered 1lb of Chicken Wings after - for $15. We received 6 wings! Menu said 1lb … so $2 per wing. Terribly disappointed.
We played here last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic, I recommend it to everyone. The premises are absolutely magnificent with a beautiful view of the lake on hole 18. The clubhouse and restaurant are a great place to hang out prior to or after the round. The staff was extremely polite, kind and very helpful throughout the entire weekend. We had a blast while playing here and we have decided to make it an annual outing since we enjoyed it so much. I recommend this place to anyone looking to golf at a challenging but amazing course.
Beautiful well maintained golf course. Caters to the average golfer as well as the better ones with multiple tees. Above average food in the restaurant
This is one tough course. Tight fairways, undulating, fast and pure greens and beautiful scenery all around. We stay at the cottages every year for a guys Ryder cup trip and have the greatest time!
Great course. Scenic and challenging. Highly recommended.
Played the ridge yesterday. With past reviews, i was skeptical because of how negative they were on course conditons. I would almost give it a 4. Even though there are patchy areas throughout, they were able to put pins in good areas where you could get good rolls. What upset us the most was the service from starter and marshall. Starter was rather rude commenting on what tee's we were playing from, etc. Marshall told us to speed up our play. We were 1 and 1/2 holes ahead of group behind us. Finished our round in 4 hours. Fof that we will not be back.
Well what can one say about the "Ridge" as we have a family cottage in the area I then have played it many times since day one! Beautiful layout, great test of golf, and fabulous club house setting....hitting down toward the clubhouse with your approach shot on 18 is a spectacular view of the waterside setting....the best finishing hole in the north!
The best view and food and staff. Love it here. Please open in 2018
Great layout, quality sand in bunkers, all the little things done right
One of the purest courses I’ve played in Canada. Such a nice course with great staff and plenty of challenges. Would recommend to anyone. 10/10
Awesome place hope they don't sell or sell and keep the course going ????????
Awesome course. Really enjoyed it, friendly staff.
Played at the end of May. It is no secret they experienced some conditioning issues last year, but they have come out of it very well - almost night and day! A few greens were still needing some tlc, same with a few tee boxes, but overall, the Ridge has made a good comeback. The layout of this course is unreal, and one of the best finishing holes in Canada! Definitely worth the trip in 2021.
Really a great golf experience...
Beautiful course
Great course...emmacilant condition.
The greens are in poor condition
We golfed here on the last weekend absolutely beautiful the colors were amazing.
Absolute gem of a course! Great shape! Hats off to superintendent! Amazing staff!
Great course!
Amazing golf course with excellent food and friendly staff
Amazing course! Friendly staff, great pace of play and outstanding conditions. 10/10
We've been going to the ridge at Manitou for years but a couple years ago the course was sold to new owners. They clearly dont care as much as the old owners as the course is just getting worse and worse everytime I go. Water logged areas all over the course, burned grass everywhere, teeblocks and greens are in horrendous condition. They took away food and beverages on the course. Once was one of my favourite places to play but now this course is a dump and would never travel to play it anymore. Thanks new owners, you really frigged up a former fantastic gem in Ontario
An amazing track. Hard to get there but worth the trip.
They now have cabins to rent and it's a great idea. The range is about 1/2 km from the clubhouse and it's cut out of a forest, absolutely beautiful. The course is amazing and has it's challenges for you. Very expansive layout that covers alot of acreage. Gorgeous views and #18 is awesome, 220 off the tee and that will leave you just before the ravine and set you up for about 250 to the hole downhill. Food is Great, fish and chips was my order and it was perfect.
Beautiful views
One of the best. Excellent shape from tee to green. Semi quick greens. Careful putting downhill. Folks here treat you very well!
For a supposedly “premium” golf course, it’s in horrible condition. Tee blocks barely have any grass left and many greens are burnt out. Don’t bother playing here - there’s many other courses in nicer shape.
Challenging and beautiful northern Ontario course
Love the Ridge!!
Beautiful course one of the best I've ever been too
Soaking wet and in poor condition, unenjoyable.
Beautiful golf course. Was an absolute pleasure to play here
Really enjoyed our time there, it was an overcast day but the course was in quite good shape. Greens and fairways were really nice! Back tee decks could use some work but they were all seeded so give it a month they should all be back and healthy. Hospitality was great too, will be back for sure!
Very scenic. Excellent modern lakeside restaurant with great views. Dock for boats just metres from the patio.
Beautiful golf course in pristine condition. Was a bit of drive up to Parry Sound from Muskoka but definitely worth it if you're looking to play one of the nicest golf courses in all of Canada. Staff is also very pleasant and friendly.
Perhaps I have a bias to this course as I watched it being built from the ground up and years later was married there but I must give you this review nonetheless. This course is going to give you that incredible northern golf experience from the moment you make your down the driveway to the clubhouse. Its the type of course you want to get to an hour early, not so that you can warm up rather that you can wind down. Plan on staying after your round for drinks and dinner either on the patio or in the post and beam clubhouse with views of Lake Manitouwabing. I know the attraction to Taboo and Deerhurst are great but don't be fooled by large marketing budgets. Put this course in your schedule this summer and come back and tell the world what you thought. @thewkndgolfer
The 18th has to one of the nicest holes in golf!! Love this course!
A true hidden gem! Beautiful golf course with a stunning clubhouse to dine in overlooking the water. Considering its remote location, the food here is great. Not a huge menu, but what they do offer is all legit. Sit on the patio on sunny days and watch the boats come and go. Awesome beer selection and attentive, friendly service has us visiting on the regular during the summer. See you again soon!
Beautiful course! Great staff! Currently no liquor license.
Maybe should have been 3 stars because the course is in rough shape, but I heard that they had trouble hiring because all the kids decided that CERB was easier then getting jobs so they had trouble recruiting and only secured 8 grounds crew. This course has the most amazing views/scenery, but the tee blocks and greens are in rough shape. Still had a blast though! I was a single that was paired up with a couple members that were absolutely great (Shout out to Dave and Bob!). Really looking forward to coming back when they can address the conditions as that is why this course is on the top 100 in Canada!
Awesome golf course course. Friendly staff.
Finally stopped the cart path only rule.
As nice a course you'll play in Ontario
My best golf experience ever! Friendly staff, perfectly maintained course, excellent food!!
Value
Really enjoyed our round at the ridge. Every hole is unique and picturesque. poor drainage on most of the course (cart path only) but the layout was top notch. Very accommodating getting us out 2 hours early before a long drive home. All the staff we met were awesome as well, we will be returning.
Great weather, great company, sadly horrible course condition. Used to be a beautiful course. Not anymore . Some greens almost unplayable. Definitely NOT worth the $$
Formerly my favourite course, it has lost a lot of its previous condition. Having held this course in such high regard for many years, I was disappointed this year to find it in poor condition. Unfortunately, with new ownership, comes a new level of investment. The staff have always been amazing, and are truly the glue that holds this place together. I hope they can improve on the course conditions as I'd love to go back, but until it improves, I can't recommend visiting at the current prices.
The track is incredible, it's undeniably a beautiful course and thoroughly enjoyed the golf. However we experienced the worst customer service I could have possibly imagined at a golf course. Complete lack of respect and desire to accommodate a group. Trying to split a group of 9 into 1 foursome, 2 seperate twosomes with strangers filling the other 2 spots and a SINGLE, is ridiculous. Attempting to get one man of our group to play alone after the amount we traveled and paid to play there is outrageous. Not to mentioned how unpleasant and uncomfortable every interaction with the staff was but who wouldn't behave that way, with that much power. Would love to play again when they hire a new starter staff.
fantastic place to golf
Overall, one of the best Golf North courses and a must play. Staff was great and the food was tasty after the round. The course was in great condition even after having a rainstorm the day before. If you’re looking for nice greens and soft fairways, The Ridge is the place to be. Definitely coming back in the future.
Beautiful, challenging course. The greens were in great shape and the views are incredible highly recommend
Hopefully someone buys this gem and keeps it open to the public
Like the new menu at the restaurant but the food quality can be hit and miss depending on who is working in the kitchen.
This course has it all. So many different challenging hole designs. Very well maintained. The views are spectacular. Riding the cart paths is even an experience itself!
We had dinner at the restaurant on a Saturday night. The service was excellent and the view and atmosphere were beautiful. We ate in the screened in porch which was lovely. Our waitress was efficient and polite. Two of us had the pickerel which was excellent but the fries were cold. My husband also had the fish but had a side salad. I had the club sandwich which was not great as it was dark fatty meat in two pieces of regular toaster bread. A nice ciabatta bun would have been a lot nicer. My fries were also cold. After we complained about the fries the waitress brought out s plate of fresh hot fries. The prices are inflated but worth it just for the view. I would give them another shot.
Great afternoon of golf! The course was in exceptional shape and every hole is very picturesque. The price is a little high, but you are mostly paying for what you get.
3rd time of play on May end or eary June during last 3 years but courses are so dmaged this year. Lots of dead or brown areas on greens, fairways and even on tee decks. Guess last winter was severe.
Great layout but poor conditions on the tees and greens. Also, be prepared for a 5 hour round.
I have played this course in previous seasons and it has been unbelievable. This year however, the greens were clearly not put to bed correctly, most greens have damage. Still great scenery, but definitely not worth $125 price tag. If it is cart path only I would recommend walking instead of riding. Hopefully it can return to its previous state in 2021.
Fun and challenging
Great course!
Had 3 friends up from TO to play the Ridge midweek. Staff was friendly, course was in great shape, quick play (3hr/45 min) wind kept the bugs away, and the beer was cold! Friends played 36 holes, and are booked to come back next year.
Wow of a course! 18 hole finishes at Lake. Great food
Nice course, unfortunately the day I played they had soaked the course the night before and did not make it enjoyable to play
Terrible staff but great golf Customer service needs serious upgrade. Pro shop and Manager totally unwelcoming. The girl behind the breakfast counter was unfriendly and even admitted they prefer when the course is empty!?! So basically you don't want any business? Wow, no wonder this place is struggling. I've been to places where there are one or two bad employees, but here its the other way around. The marshall was even worse. Complete jerk despite the course already playing pretty slow. Remove the staff and the course is beautiful. Perhaps they would prefer to be sod farmers.
Beautiful lodge and fantastic food!
GREAT place
I have played this course three times this summer. Nice course and quite well manicured. All three rounds I have found the behaviour of each of the Starters to be off-putting. They all seem compelled to offer more advice and judgements than we would expect or want. The last round was last Sunday during which the starter also had his two-way radio conversation going during our tee off and then also drove off in our view in a power cart...without due consideration of the golfers. Also last Sunday the halfway house was closed and there was no place to get drinking water. We asked about this after our round and were told there is a drinking water source behind the halfway house...which is not marked or advertised. Had dinner at the clubhouse once. The service and food was good and atmosphere nice. I think there is room for improvement.
Nice golf course Club house is neat
Great spot.Excellent golfing destination.
Beautiful course. Greens were in a bit of rough shape due to winter damage but the scenery makes up for it!
Couldn't find our tee location. The are hard to see and the groundskeepers removed and did not put back
Absolutely stunning! ! One of the best courses (top 10) I have ever played (and I've played Hamilton Golf and CC, Banff Springs, Jasper Park Lodge to name a few). We played Rocky Crest the day before and it was nice but my friend and I both much preferred this course. Several breath taking holes. Despite some poor reviews about the service, we found the staff were friendly and polite. The clubhouse is very nice (not as nice as Rocky Crest) but we were there to golf. The only downside was that it cost $153 to play 18 on a Saturday. I will definitely be back!!
We were not told...carts only on cartpath until actual T-off time...disapointed not able to play !
The Ridge is always a 12/10. Golf course has done nothing but improve since Golf North has taken over. Immaculate condition of the course. Food and beverage after the round was more than fairly priced. All around the Ridge makes for an amazing weekend away with friends without breaking the bank.
Barely OK Course in poor condition Nice views and pleasant staff
This is a fantastic Golf course. It was in amazing shape except the bunkers are rock hard, which is good as the ball bounces out when you get one in there, somewhat like the rocks. But a great round of golf. Challenging and fun to play. .4.5 hrs for us to finish our round. The clubhouse is nice but no liquor license so no beverages in the clubhouse or on the course (plan accordingly). The lockers are also very small so you can't fit your Duffel bag in the locker. Restaurant food is very good but pricey. Can't wait to comeback.
Staff is incredibly friendly, nice interior design, lovely place!
By far one of the best golf courses you will play. I have played almost all of the Muskoka courses and this is still rated as either 1 or 2 from our collective group. Make this a definite stop for your group. Even the food and view from their patio is excellent. I don't give 5 stars very often, but these guys deserve it.
Lovely location
Great course layout. Nice clubhouse facility. Course itself in horrible shape. A lot of greens damaged beyond repair. Bare tee boxes. Won't play it again until I see major improvements. Unlikely that it will recover this season.
Played the Ridge at Manitou in early September, I was very impressed with the conditioning of the golf course. The fairways were lush, the greens were fast and true. The course has a fantastic layout with a great mix of par threes, fours, and fives. Only negative comment about the course would be that the 18th hole is a weak finish. While the hole does have great views it is not a great design. Based on the level of service, the quality of the course and the level of fun it was to play, I highly recommend a trip to this course.
Beautiful spot with great food
Course is well laid out however green are in bad shape, lots of bare patches. Same with approaches. Needs a year with a skilled maint crew. Be advised many (most) holes are cart path only, tough walking if ball lands on farside of fairway. No marshals on course, 5 hour round!
Course might be nice, but the customer service and general accommodations were severely lacking. They were under no obligation to help me out, but in my experience most other courses of this level (private or public) are eager to help find an equitable resolution for all parties. In my opinion, this usually a good indication of overall customer service and a reflection of what your overall experience will be like. There's so many other beautiful courses out there, I will be making sure to visit those first.
Got to play this course yesterday, and was worried about some of the reviews, the course itself is a really good layout, it is short but difficult. The rough was like US open rough, was so thick, and if you got in it, was tough to get out. Tee decks were in decent shape, greens were decent as well, there was some punky spots on the golf course, but there has been so much rain lately, I thought that the course handled the rain pretty good. Halfway house staff and clubhouse staff were super friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. My biggest beef was when we caught up to a 5some, they said that they were allowed to go off like that, and holes 9, 10 and 11 took us 1h30m to get through with the marshal telling them to hurry up. First they should not have sent a 5 off, and second they should not have sent a 5 off. The 5 went out 40 min ahead of us apparently so they thought it was ok for that. If you pay to play a course like this, you can not have that. If it was not for that the day would have been perfect, but that really ruined my back 9.
Couse is in fantastic shape. Bit wet the day we played. No issues
Beautiful course, soft fairways and challenging links. Also attended a catered function in the chalet and it was first rate.
Worth the drive. Conditions were excellent. Great proshop.
Our round took 5 1/2 hours. Second nine took 3 hrs and 15 min. Apparently there were no Marshall's on the course. This is not the first time the pace of play was exceedingly slow at this course. This is unacceptable for the kind of fees this course charges.
Best 130 round of my life
This place needs a lot of work for them to be charging $110 service wasn’t very good
18th hole at sunset might be my favourite hole of all time. Great Muskoka course, would play over and over again!
Don't know if it is because of new owners but this course just lost my business and money. What a poorly kept course this late in the season. You think with the money you spend they could at least put some effort into the greens or tee blocks. And don't even get me on a $8.50 sandwich that has one piece of process turkey cheese on a bun. Let's just say I will not be back this season or perhaps ever. Want to be a top 100 course in Canada do a better job!! An learn how to make a decent sandwich which reflects price.
Beautiful course. Friendly staff. Cart path only both times I was there. This course is not designed for this. Too wide, access to course from paths is limited. My suggestion would be to check before you pay the high rates.
Great course, too bad so wet after the rain on weekend , no carts or half way house for drinks or sandwiches
What a disappointment! It looked exactly like I expect a Golf North course to look . Awful tee boxes, diseased greens and damaged fairways. What a shame for such a beautiful property. Golf North has ruined everything it touches. And ... who charges for range balls? I wont be back, and I suggest the same for anyone expecting a good gold experience.
Great staff, great food, great conditions. 10/10 would recommend. Can't wait to be back
Beautifully kept grounds with exceptional staff.
Beautiful course with drive up boat docking.
Course is in terrible shape. The Marschell told us it was at 80%. Not true at all. They should not be charging a full rate. Carts allowed on cart path only.
Course needs some TLC post covid shutdown. Still a beautiful golf course!
Terrific course. Beautiful day
Course is under repairs. Dry greens and tee boxes. Some Freeways being sanded. Maybe ready in August.
Was a 5 star. Golf is great but the ftrstairant ood has declined over the last year and a half and prices have gone up. I think they have a new chef.
Wonderful place. Great food even better golfing . Definite go to for golf and dine! Very helpful staff.
Will be back super course
Played this course last year and it was one of the nicest courses I've ever played, and I play 50-60 rounds per year throughout Ontario and Michigan. This year its a different story, burnt out greens and tee boxes, generally in horrible shape. Several ground under repair areas. The halfway house was closed, and very minimal staff working. The pace of playw terrible as well, took almost 5 hours to play. I hope this gets better as it is a beautiful layout and it has a lot of potential.
The greens are not currently in great shape, but improving as the summer progresses.
I played the ridge at manitou for the first time yesterday and the greens were close to unplayable. I understand that courses need to do maintenance and top dressing is common. But courses were just shut down for a month and this could have been done during the closure. The starter told our group that they were unable to cut the greens because the sand would ruin the blades of the mower. Had I been notified about the about the conditions before booking I would have booked at another course in the area. The course is a great layout and has a lot of potential but unfortunately it’s not worth the green fee rate at this time.
My favorite course love every hole was in really nice shape this yr
Terrible shape, greens covered in sand making it impossible to putt. Fairways chewed full of ruts and dead areas with horrible drainage.
An absolute beautiful course. Kept in excellent condition. The 18th hole alone is worth the round. Staff very friendly. Pro Shop has great selection, and well designed clothing and accessories. It's a bit of a drive but worth it. Unfortunately it was an alcohol free facility. And we didn't find out the starter told us. On the scorecard and on the Black label on the golf carts it stated it was fully licensed. So our foursome suspected that perhaps they lost their license.
Great track! Course is in great shape this year. Had a blast!
Played there a week ago. It needs work.Tee boxes full of divots and the fairways too.I would, unfortunately, say there is much better bang for the buck elsewhere in Muskoka.
I've played here many times over the years and it has been always in great condition, but this year is the roughest condition I've ever encounter their. I did hear that they had water pump issues, so I will give them the benefit of doubt
Wonderful Golf club up north to play. Staff are warm and welcoming and facility is very much in a cabin cottage style. Food menu is very much Pub fare but tasty non the less. You’ll love playing and eating by the lake and the beautiful natural scenery. I would recommend if you’re in the area and need a break from the cottage.
Went here for my birthday. Food was just ok. Nothing special. Decor and view are amazing.
Always a good place to enjoy a round of golf
After not playing the Ridge for a number of years I was looking forward to going back. I had heard the new owners had "cleaned up" the course. What a disappointed. Granted there has been a lot of rain in that area this year that is not an excuse for the conditions. The tees looked like the face of the moon and a number off greens had large dead patches. They have always had drainage issues there and the course was soaked to a point you could feel the water under the fairways when you were walking. The only good news the staff were very nice. There a lots of courses in the Muskoka's don't waste your money on the Ridge.
It needs some maintenance and staff.Might not be their fault though as tough to get anyone to work in this Country.Oh by the way 5 and a half hour rounds here we quit at 13 holes and that took 4 hours.
Service was slow. Food was OK. Server was very friendly. Atmosphere and view was very nice.
The scenery and club house are beautiful. The course was in decent condition but it was waterlogged in certain places.
Great course and friendly service staff... horrible experience in handling groups and with the assistant golf pro. Very confrontational with everyone he dealt with and pushed us to leave the minute our second round finished. For the price there are other great courses in the Muskoka's where you will receive world class treatment... unfortunately the Ridge at Manitou was at the other end of the spectrum.
As always, a beautiful forest layout. Challenging, but not ridiculously so. Conditions were fair, but not great. Golf North still needs to figure out how to maintain the turf, especially the greens. Much better than last year though.
the track had some difficulties this year and are trying their best to get it back...still an interesting course with fast greens..
Beautiful course and very nice staff. We will be back again soon!
Breath taking course. Pristine greens and fairways Got my green fees cheap from under par so it was well worth the price. This is a must at golf coirse
Poor condition.very disappointed.
paid $120 for 18 holes of dirt riddled greens and soggy fairways, deer run is in better shape than this...PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A GOLF COURSE, WONT BE BACK. EVER!!!!!
Great course!
I had dinner with my family here. Inside and outside looks beautiful and staff were nice. The crab dip was really good. The fish and chips were fine. The 8oz burger was huge and very good. The sweet potatoe and regular fries were good. Some of us had the deep fried cheesecake and others had the New York cheesecake. I think the New York cheesecake was better. Overall it was a nice dinner.
Very pretty course
Beautiful course. Sopping wet right now. Cart path only today :-(. Tired after walking to my ball all day.
We last played The Ridge many years ago and wish that was our lasting memory rather than our experience on August 17. The course was in poor condition with some fairways wet enough to soak your feet, yet there were many brown patches, especially on the greens. Yardage markers were missing on many holes and hard to find on others. We lost count of the holes being overseeded, which created either a mucky wet mess or a dried out sandy effect. Both were equally effective at instantly stopping your ball. We were disappointed to pay full rate and be told the half way house was already closed for the day. On the 16th or 17th hole a staff member came and said "you aren't planning to eat in the dining room are you?". Not exactly rude, but not showing strong customer service skills either. I contacted the course a few days later and suggested the Ridge could avoid golfer disappointment by providing realistic info on course conditions (they have a golfers email from the booking) and consider giving discounts when food and beverage services are limited or not available. It's a long drive from Toronto to get anything less than a full and complete golf experience, including dinner by the lake! The pro did more talking than listening and didn't acknowledge my suggestions. I was told I'm the first person to share anything negative about the course, how proud he is of the amazing transformation they've made and about how much money Golf North has invested!
Good dinner...fantastic view.
To echo many of recent reviews: course is in rough shape given the premium price. I have played here twice before in years past and always seem to leave nonplussed. Played a few weeks ago, greens were spotty and slow, fairways have lots of brown patches and visible trouble spots. Tee blocks were worse than bad: sloped, patchy, uneven. I would expect to pay ~$70-80, anything over $100 is too much. Lastly, photos are misleading. Per satellite pic attached there is only 1 water hole: 18. You play against the backdrop of the lake for a grand total of 1 shot. Everything else is carved in the wooded swampy forest inland. Lots of neat vistas of the shield and woods, but nearly all the holes are wooded on either side with no lake in sight.
A very amazing picturesque course. The team at The Ridge are very attentive and dedicated from the greens crew to the kitchen staff. When you walk on to a box you can't help but want to take a picture.
Great course! Good food. Only complaint is no water bottles available at half course house, it was hot and we were thirsty!
Tough first three holes and balance challenging from blues. Was in great shape with fast greens that ran true. Cart path only on our day which added a lot of walking. Will be back.
The course has been revived back into great shape! It's come a long way from where it was last year. Almost back to its original high end form. Once they are able to get the appropriate amount of staff at the facility the clubhouse and dining areas will likely be on point too.
Greens could have been better, but the lay out of the course is breathtaking this time of year
Fantastic golf course. Amazingly beautiful scenery and very interesting lay out. I had an excellent time playing this course.
I am a member with golf North properties from Waterloo. We made a special trip to Mckellar to play this course. Wow!!! Excellent!!! One of the best courses I have played. More importantly the staff at the course were very welcoming and provided excellent service. I am coming back soon. Thanks to all for a wonderful experience.
No bugs No breeze No Beer. Expensive but good.
Very Challenging and Beautiful Views! The course was in bad Condition!!!
The Ridge is a great golf course. It is in immaculate condition in a beautiful setting.
Thought it was a great layout but the course was in rough shape! I don't usually make disparaging remarks, but I have never been on a course at midday, where the maintenance guy decides to turn on the sprinkler system as you are about to tee off, then drives by to tell you it will only take 4 minutes and to play around it?? Then several holes later, he is on the green watering it by hand with no intention of stopping while your hitting your approach shot...a little unnerving for the average golfer to say the least! If I'm being honest with my review, the course wasn't worth the green fee they were asking....I thought I was going to experience much more...unfortunately I didn't!!
Lovely course, good service. Bring lots of balls and your own beer (No liquor licence).
Beautiful course, friendly staff, nice pro shop. Would love to golf here again
Very poor condition compared to last year. Very slow on the back 9 and tried to call the pro shop for a Marshall but no one answers the phone. Won't be back for a while!!
This is our favourite golf course in Ontario, but this year there was alot of damage to the greens. I hope the new management hires the same people as previous years as course desperately needs attention. Otherwise people will stop coming.
Beautiful course. But beware of mosquitos. PGA Tour golfers would be shooting consistent scores north of 90 if they had to deal with this mosquito situation. Recommend golfing here in September/October.
One of the best
Beautiful course, challenging but not difficult. Scenery is breathtaking and was in great shape! Service was great too!
Great golf course. Highly recommend playing.
Nice course. Views on this 18th is out of this world during the fall. Highly recommended that you get out an play this course once.
The course did not winter well. Still a great track though.
Great golf course. Well kept and interesting. Nice friendly staff and beautiful clubhouse. Hope they get their liquor license before our next trip.
Played a the Ridge several times over the years and absolutely love it. Unfortunately some issues this year with conditions (greens/fairways) but hopeful that they will bounce back later this season and next year. A fantastic track overall with some amazing views.
Great course. Well maintained
Wedding
We golfed there yesterday and the course is beautiful but they over watered everything fairways and greens were drenched. It was TOO wet the greens were VERY slow and there was standing water on most of the fairways and in some spots you couldn't even walk.
Fantastic golf course!!
A magical and spectacular place
Terrific course, great layout and great conditioning. I have played multiple rounds here and I always really enjoy the course.
Not nearly in the shape we're used to, but still a great course. Hopefully new ownership does the work to get it back into top 100 in Canada shape!
Course is absolutely prestine. We drove up from Barrie for a round, will definitely be back again. One of the best layouts I have ever played. Every fairway was was simply perfect.
Visually so appealing. Aesthetically awesome.
My first time impression. Nice course and layout. Played long. Could use better hole signage .
Nice layout
Unbelievable course. Every hole is picturesque with lots of elevation changes and undulating fairways. Was in fantastic shape when we played in early August with tough but great greens. Surprisingly water rarely/never comes into play. Main issue was no liquor license to sell beer.
Beautiful twilight round, course in exceptional condition
Course is in mint condition, well worth the drive. My new favorite course.
An amazing course.
Coming along nicely. Course was hurting earlier in the year but is looking great now! Menu is a bit "meh" but I'll chalk that up to covid
The course was in fantastic shape when we were there. Bit of a jurk in the pro shop, but the course was great.
Golf course is in excellent condition. Pricey but s great experience. Played in 4 hours. Nice clubhouse with outside patio overlooking the lake. Only problem is the new owners are still waiting on their liquor license. Probably hurting their business. Only reason for not giving them the 5th Star.
This used to be one of my favorite tracks, course went straight to hell, and add cart path only. Sorry ridge won't be back.
Worst golf experience of my life
A beauty golf course, well maintained nice layout and perfect 18th hole to finish the round.
Incredible golf course, only lacking in no liquor license and long drive from hwy 69!
This is an excellent challenging golf course but the condition of many fairways and greens has deteriorated significantly due to a watering system problem. I think it may take a season to bring them back to their former conditioning.
We went for lunch and the service was excellent.
we came from Sudbury and spent a full day was very impressed from the staff being friendly to help from starters to the picturesque course to the after supper.. strongly suggest this course for near and far u won't be disappointed.. thk u to the staff for a memorable day...
Great course.... Someone save it! Flew in from Toronto in 45 minutes by sea plane
Amazing
Our 4some played the Ridge Sept. 3rd 2020. This was our 4th trip in the last 4 years. It is the only course that we drive 2 1/2 hours to play. We are already looking forward to our return next year. We saw some iffy reviews and were concerned about what we were going to find. The course was cart path only today but heavy rain in the last few days, including yesterday was the cause. The course overall was in great condition. Our day was capped off with a fine burger, fries and beverage on the deck With a great view of the lake. See you next year!
Great Course to play with beautiful views. Would have been nice to have a glass of wine at the end of the play, but for some odd reason they do not have a liquor license. Maybe the only golf coarse i have ever been that could not sell liquor. I am sure that can't be good for business.
Beautiful course,wonderful food and service.
